Decent Gym, but billed at a higher than standard rate without being told.
When this gym switched from BSC to crunch, they dropped their base rate from $45 to $20, and kept my partner and I at the $45 rate, as a “premium membership” without ever asking if I’d like a premium membership, or letting me know that’s what I was paying for.
They then charged a $25 downgrade fee to switch down to the membership I was under the impression I was already paying for.

I’ve been a member since the BMC changeover and really appreciate all the upgrades and new equipment. But the heat in there is rough. It’s always super hot, especially by the cardio machines, and you end up sweating buckets even during a light workout or casual walk. Honestly makes me think twice about going sometimes. Hoping they fix the temperature soon!

One more suggestion — it would be great if there were towels! I like the amenities of the saunas & showers, but the sauna is not as comfortable to use without being able to towel off. Along with the aforementioned problem with the heat, it would be really nice if there was a towel rental service.

I joined this gym in July and I’m so happy I did! Since then I have brought my roommate and my boyfriend and pushed them to join and all of us love it! The staff are so sweet and will always greet me at the entrance and say bye as I leave and have also offered to help me with any weightlifting questions I have. I only pay $21 for my membership and I feel like its the best value gym in all of boston!!!!! highly recommend!!!!

Glad I joined this gym. I go at peak hours and it still doesn’t feel too crowded. Ample amount of free weights and equipment.

My one critique is the lack of air flow. It definitely feels a bit stuffy at times and it’s the fall and 60 degrees out. I can’t imagine how the summer gets!

Nice facility but if you switched over from Boston sports club BSC days check your billing. They lowered pricing in Jan 2025 and didn’t tell anyone, there’s tons of people paying more than their current highest membership tier. They will not refund you.

Be very mindful when signing up for this crunch fitness that when it comes to their cancellation policy they are extremely disorganized and dishonest. I cancelled with their front desk and they proceeded to charge me for months. Now even after months of back and forth they still refuse to refund me the $200 they owe me. The gym itself is decent but be careful and just know you may have to jump through hoops and take a loss when you try and leave them.

I was a member of Boston Sports Club before it became Crunch Fitness. I was a little apprehensive about the change but once I decided not to let a surface level opinion get in the way of my Health and Wellness, I’ve been more determined. The Staff is accommodating and friendly, everyone has a smile on their face when you walk through the door and check in, and they great you which feels very welcoming considering it’s a gym and you may be embarrassed about looking silly as a beginner. I’m here 3-5x a week and enjoy the environment.

I tried out both Crunch Fitness and Planet Fitness in the area. They’re roughly the same in cost. Planet Fitness is brand new and overall cleaner, but I actually liked Crunch Fitness better because they have more equipment and more importantly a sauna (which was temporarily closed when I was there). However, the single factor that made me decide to sign up with Planet Fitness is that Crunch closes at 5pm on weekends, which is way too early in my opinion.

Terrible experience at Crunch Fitness. The staff is rude and unhelpful, and they clearly don’t care about the members. I had constant issues with billing and trying to cancel my membership for 4 months the still charge me I call to the location. They told me I’m all set then I got a charge then I called. They said they canceled my membership. Same thing next month when I wanted in person the canceled the trainer membership not for get they call me after five minutes or you only cancel your training not your membership and you can do it from the apps app doesn’t work was a nightmare. Customer service gave me the runaround every time I called. The gym is often overcrowded and not very clean either. Definitely not worth the money—avoid if you value good service and respect as a member.

The gym location is very convenient for me and they have most of the workout equipment I need. I enrolled through my health insurance's Fitness Your Way program and they honored it without any problem.

My only major issues are that the WiFi never successfully connects to my phone until I'm an hour into my workout. This always occurs no matter where I'm standing in the gym. I also wish the gym were open for longer hours. I prefer to go at night but it closes at 5pm on weekends which is much earlier compared to 11pm on Mon-Thurs.

Worst customer service I've received from this gym. I also attempted to close my membership 15 days after opening it. They said I'll need to wait until the end of the month to cancel. i called to canceled it. they said I'll need to come in. They were having issues with their system and said they will go ahead and cancel it. I was charge for the next month. I tried explaining this to the manager and she didn't cared and won't access in processing a refund. This the worst gym I've ever been. It's not worth my time and money. They just opened and they are terrible.

Facilities are in poor condition and extremely misleading business practices. Had a 3 day trial explicitly written in email but incapable of honoring it beyond 1 day for no stated reason. Incompetent management/corporate marketing and seems like a work-in-progress transition. Can’t possibly be worth the membership cost.

I was originally a BSC member before Crunch took over the building and automatically rolled over my membership despite the fact that I never used Crunch gym. I repeatedly requested to cancel, and even received an email confirmation in January from the manager assuring me that my membership was terminated and no further charges would be made.

But for six months, they continued to charge my credit card without authorization. When I finally canceled my card to stop the billing, they had the audacity to threaten me with collections over a balance I should never have owed.

This experience has been outrageous, stressful, and completely unfair. I was charged for a service I never used and then intimidated for trying to protect myself from further unauthorized charges. Their mishandling of this situation and disregard for basic customer care is appalling.

Crunch fitness took over this gym and have completely turned things around. The equipment has been updated, the roof hasn’t been leaking, the floors are updated etc. A true 180 change. Also, front desk people have been SUPER helpful for me and my partner multiple times. Fingers crossed the AC holds up this summer but so far, I’m impressed

No AC! When I joined, it was in the winter. The gym was decent for the price. Sure the machines are often broken for months on end, but I could be flexible on what kind of workout I wanted to do. Unfortunately, a gym that is hotter inside than it is outside is essentially unusable.. really want to make it work because of the location, but would rather have a slightly longer walk to a gym with AC than an entire workout essentially in a sauna. If I don’t hear about it being fixed in the next few weeks, my friends and I will definitely have to find another gym.

-A few fans are not sufficient and It sounds like the AC has been down for 2 summer which means there clearly isn’t any urgency in getting it fixed.

Avoid due to predatory business practices. Go to the Planet Fitness a few hundred feet away.

I signed up for this gym at a rate of $45/mo. Upon completing signup I was told the gym had been acquired by Crunch, but the membership prices would not change. Despite this, basic membership price dropped to $20/mo. and I was not informed by anyone for months.

I was unable to get reimbursed after being overcharged for an extended period of time, and wouldn't have signed up in the first place if I had known this. Additionally, I will be charged again in 2-3 weeks for another month that I do not desire.

EDIT - I already contacted the on-site manager in person and was told there was no further means of escalation so this response is unhelpful.

They are deceiving old NYSC members.
When we opted in to continue with the new management, we were told that this location will be special one and that its price point would remain the same at $44.90, unlike other Crunch locations.

However, the base membership price currently starts at $19.99, and the most expensive membership costs $34.99.
So many members are unaware of it and are overpaying.

Unfortunately, this is dishonest. They should make it straight and refund the amount that is overcharged.

*****Don’t join. $50+ a month for broken equipment.. Crunch is doing a great job at ruining a good thing NYSC had going. They replaced all of the machines with faulty ones. About 12 new treadmills have replaced the BSC ones and 7 are broken and either: are out of commission with a sign, don’t decline after you incline the machine, sound like a wooden roller coaster when you’re on it.

I tried canceling my membership 5 days before being charged for February. Employee said he would cancel my membership, but I would still get charged for February. Although upset, I accepted it and moved on. I get charged for March. I called and said that the employee never actually canceled my account. Outrageous. I asked the front desk when is the last day for cancelling my subscription before I would be charged the annual fee. They told me the date and I cancelled in time. I was still charged the 70$ fee! It turns out they didn't cancel my membership when I asked them to do it. Then I talked to a number of workers at the front desk who all assured me that I would not be charged. I was still charged! I was told only the manager could undo the charge and she was away on leave. The replacement manager assured me "don't worry, you will get your money back, wait for her to get back". If you’re an old NYSC member who got grandfathered in, they’re still charging you $45 a month even though the highest Crunch rate is $35. Oh but if you want to change that you’re gonna have to pay the annual $70 fee again. Also, charging normal rates during renovations and when there’s no amenities (hydro massage, tanning, etc) is wild.

Charging people to use this place during renovations is a crime. Half the gym floor is inaccessible, a lot of the machines are MIA or broken, the locker doors are ripped off, and someone ate all the 5-lb weights. Several machines have not been updated and are not functioning properly (BOTH leg curl machines do not lock) or have been removed and not yet replaced. Should’ve post this long time ago…but SHE gave me the reason that I have to.
Don’t sign up for CRUNCH…after being bought off from BSC, first of all they have done ZERO upgrades with the equipment that they promised to do…all the workout equipments are still old and rusty.
Crunch even takes away the sanitize wipes to cut short the budget. Worse thing is when I had to cancel the membership, the so-called Manager brought up the HOLY policy to force the customer to keep membership for another month due to short notice of the cancellation. It’s OUTRAGEOUS their rules and Marien is her name!!
Overall experience, Crunch doesn’t worth your money, put your gym membership where else, avoid the rusty machine and the Terrible manager that gives you shitting altitude. Btw, my wife canceled the membership a while ago didn’t even got inform of the extra charge so we’re literally paying two months cost of membership for nothing. (Since the moving)

I recently visited Boston to visit my friend, Kate, who works the front desk and is also a personal trainer at the gym. I’ve seen before and after photos of the new equipment and facility and everything looks so great! I was able to get a good workout in, and being able to melt in the sauna after was the highlight. The staff is super friendly too, unlike other gyms I’ve been to where they’re a little more stand offish. HIGHLY recommend!

I was a member of Boston Sports Club. As soon as Crunch Fitness opened their doors, I started working out with Crunch Fitness. Plus, I also started working with the trainer Moriah Biener who is also the manager of Crunch Fitness. Crunch Fitness went through a little bit of renovation time. I had no problem working out through that. It is now very clean and very attractive. It has plenty of equipment. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. Moriah is an excellent trainer. I totally recommend her and Crunch Fitness.

Great vibe and great equipment. Loving working out in the morning. They are open at 5 am, which is my regular hour for getting a sweat. During this cold, the sauna hits the spot. New zones are great places to work out for various workouts. The condition and convenience of this gym are impeccable.
