I knew I came to the right place when Meg said during her heated Vinyasa class, "it's about how it feels, not how it looks". As soon as I walked in the door I felt very at ease and welcomed. The Oracle card that Meg drew for me at the end of class was a fun and unexpected yet welcomed touch of intentionality. The Barre class lead by Hannah was fantastic and had me feeling the burn as well as feeling energized and ready for the day!

Just returned from the most incredible retreat in Bali with Dóchas and I’m still floating. From start to finish, everything was so thoughtfully curated by Hannah. The yoga classes were grounded in beautiful themes that unfolded throughout the week, and the excursions felt purposeful and connected to the land and culture. Getting to experience the heart of Bali, from traditional ceremonies to local cuisine, made the trip feel truly immersive and meaningful. Every detail reflected so much care and intention. I’m beyond grateful to have been part of it and I can’t wait for the next one.

Hannah and the faculty at Dochas are all such kind, open souls. From barre to heated vinyasa the classes are all beginner friendly and the atmosphere is extremely welcoming. I actually look forward to getting out of bed in the morning to go to Dochas, rather than convincing myself to go because I know the workout is good for me. 10/10 dochas fan for sure!

Hannah and her team are friendly and welcoming. The studio has a lot of natural light and a variety of props. Membership is totally worth it because there are many classes at different times of day to choose from, as well as special pop-up classes. Some teachers do use scented sprays or incense, so if you're sensitive to scents, you can check with the teacher before class.

A Transformational Journey — My Time with Dóchas House of Yoga in Bali

Words will never fully capture the magic I experienced during the Dóchas House of Yoga retreat in Bali, but I’ll try — because this journey deserves to be shared.

Led with heart, grace, and deep wisdom by our incredible instructor, Hannah, this retreat was more than a yoga getaway — it was a true homecoming. From the very first welcome ceremony, I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging. Hannah created a space that was nurturing, safe, and empowering — where each of us felt seen, held, and honored exactly as we were. Her teaching is intuitive and soulful, blending movement and mindfulness in a way that left me feeling both grounded and uplifted after every practice.

The setting in Bali was a dream — lush greenery, sacred spaces, and warm ocean breezes that seemed to breathe life back into our bodies. But what truly made this experience unforgettable was the community. Strangers quickly became family. We shared laughter, tears, silence, stories, and joy — forming connections that I know will stay with me for life. The retreat was a beautiful reminder that healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in togetherness, in shared breath, in collective stillness.

I also felt deeply moved by the cultural experiences woven thoughtfully into the week — from traditional Balinese ceremonies to excursions that connected us with the land and its people. Every detail was handled with respect and reverence, and I left feeling not just renewed, but deeply enriched.

I am overflowing with gratitude — for Hannah, whose light and leadership changed me; for the Dóchas team, who poured their love into every moment; and for the opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with what truly matters.

If your soul is whispering that it needs rest, reconnection, or rediscovery — listen. This retreat isn’t just a trip. It’s a transformation. Dóchas means “hope” — and this journey gave me just that.

Amazing new yoga studio in Salem. Hannah is a superb teacher and her studio is so warm and welcoming. They have really nice high quality mats and blocks available for students to use (no mat rental fee) and a broad variety of classes including Barre. Definitely worth checking out!

Update March 2025: I'm currently attending the Dochas School of Yoga trauma informed yoga teacher training and it's so well done! Taking this course was a great decision.

Dochas welcomes all things yoga. The studio is clean and the instructors are kickass. They are passionate about their own crafts and love to help others build their own. The practice there plants the seeds for yoga on and off the mat. That's a sign of good yoga teachers. Always be open to getting to know them on a first-name basis, too.

If you are looking to practice yoga, or just take an hour to relax Dochas is the place to start. The teachers are experienced and most importantly so so welcoming. Trying a new studio or new activity is so hard, but just trust me , it is worth it. Hannah the owner has cultivated the perfect atmosphere for yoga, mediation, barre and breathwork classes. Hannah's classes are the perfect blend of flow, breath and grounding (and amazing music!) Oh, and this business flows beyond just Salem and offers yoga retreats all over the world. I am so looking forward to trying a breathwork class as well as a Kundalini workshop. Try a class at Dochas I promise you will not regret it !
