I race Olympic distance triathlons and signed up with Mike York after I had running injuries and my PT identified strength imbalances and insufficiencies as a key problem. I’ve had a great experience. Mike had direct discussions with the PT and developed a strength program for me that both addresses the functional strength issues identified by the PT and also has me building general physical strength to maintain and improve my running/swimming/biking generally. The program I purchased involves delivery of three workouts each week through an app, and the app has excellent support (including videos providing instructions on each exercise, and communication tools for me to report and ask questions). My program also includes a short (15 minute) direct check in with Mike by phone, which has been really useful for questions and feedback that allows him to adjust my program. It’s all a huge improvement over the strength work I did pre-Mike, that was just some general programs I found on the internet. I’m a super happy customer (who is now back to racing injury free at present!)

I am a 43 year old dad constantly trying to balance family, kids, my career and my health. A regular exercise regime has always been a part of maintaining my physical and mental health – my personal goal is to do a ‘good’ workout at least 3 times a week. I have tried everything – gym memberships, personal training, countless boot camp style fitness classes – just to name a few. It was not until I started going to F3 Fitness in late 2019, that I felt I finally found a program and a trainer that I have consistently come back to 2 to 3 times a week for over 3 years!
Mike York does an incredible job of mixing up the workouts to cover all aspects – strength, cardio, conditioning, core, balance etc. The workouts are always different which keeps it engaging; in almost four years of going 2 to 3 times per week I cannot recall ever doing the same workout twice. In terms of overall conditioning, training at F3 has me in the best shape of the last 20 years. Not only that, but the workouts are thoughtfully tailored to prevent injury – I have been injury free since I started. As an added bonus, the core and strength training has added at least 30 to 40 yards of distance to my golf game!! Now that I have found F3, I cannot imagine going anywhere else.

I've been a member of F3 Fitness for over six years now (even participating remotely during Covid) and I absolutely love it. The workouts are constantly changing, but are always well thought out and effective. Mike is extremely helpful with modifications, often having to pivot for various circumstances, and always pays attention to form, with instructions and changes in execution to help avoid injury.
Just recently Mike has changed his app platform which has made the workout experience more robust. Adding in challenges, different types of workouts (like yoga, pilates, etc.) and comprehensive plans for at-home days, making continuity so easy. There is literally no reason not to work out every day!

I have been training with Mike York for almost nine years. His workouts are both excellent and challenging. Mike caters to every type of individual be it a first timer or someone who has actively trained in the past. During Covid-19 Mike altered his workouts to make them remote friendly. Without Mike I would not being working out. I actually enjoy it.

Mike supported me for a month on his fitness app while I was on the west coast. He encouraged feedback on the app workouts and tailored them to address my fitness needs and limitations with equipment. All the workouts are full body and totally portable and require minimal equipment. Each exercise includes a demo and instruction. I highly recommend the app to anyone unable to participate in studio or live remote classes and anyone who likes the convenience of an efficient workout you can do on your own time!

Mike and his workouts are truly amazing! As someone that has had a hard time maintaining a consistent workout schedule for the past 12 years, I have finally found a routine at F3 Fitness that works for me. The workouts are tough, yet engaging and Mike is always there to help guide you through exercises. I've seen so many benefits in and out of the gym that I never would have never dreamed possible without Mike's help!

I love working out at F3 with Mike. With Mike’s encouragement, I am much stronger and don’t have to worry about reaggravating my back or foot; that I have from previous sport injuries. The groups are small enough that I feel I am getting a tailored workout. A huge bonus of the strength training is that it has really improved my golf game! Most importantly I am having fun and getting in shape! I highly recommend F3!

I'm so happy to have found F3 Fitness. The small class size allows for a lot of personalized attention from Mike. The great variety of exercises he uses are designed to challenge and he's happy to modify an exercise based on an individual's needs. The relaxed and fun class atmosphere makes the hour fly by. I looked for a functional strength training program for several months before finding F3 Fitness and after a few classes, knew that my search was over and I'd found just the program and instructor I was looking for to help me incorporate a regular exercise program into my busy schedule.

TLDR;
Highly recommend! I did 1:1 personal training with Mike York. He really knows what he’s doing. He listens to his clients! He’s very thoughtful about crafting a workout specific to your goals + injuries! He doesn’t yell to motivate you, which is great for me.
Before:
1 pushup
Constant knee pain
Unable to take a dance class without back pain or knee pain
After:
13 pushups
Little to no knee pain!
I take 1-2 dance classes a week now! And reduced back and knee pain!
~Long Version ~
In 2014 in an attempt to be fit, my roommate and I downloaded a bootleg version of Insanity and followed Shaun T’s lead. We jumped, we squatted, we jump squatted, and ran in place for about two weeks before my right knee started audibly clicking. I ignored it until the day I felt sharp pain and my knee began to swell.
Whenever I try to start an exercise regimen I end up:
1) Overwhelmed with information and trying to do too much then ending up not sticking to it and doing nothing.
2) Accidentally hurting myself which would hinder me from continuing to exercise regularly.
I grew up an active child (ballet, skating, swimming, volleyball), so I thought I knew what I was doing but after a few rounds of DIY fitness then injury then rehab ,repeat, I realized I don't know lol.
After realizing that I needed help that wasn’t Shaun T or internet articles/videos, I sought personal trainers and tried 3 before finding Mike. The 3 trainers prior to Mike were a bit generic and they didn’t seem to listen to my long spiel about the history of my body and my goals (rather they used 10 mins within a 30 min session to ask about goals). Furthermore, with my injury prone body, I wanted to work with someone who really knew what they were doing. (I didn’t want to risk injury for a new trainer’s learning purposes).
Mike was recommended to me by my Chiropractor who I was visiting for knee pain. The concept of functional fitness was really appealing to me because I thought I just had to do physical therapy for the rest of my life. Mike’s training as a Chiropractor was a big sell for me to try F3 Fitness.
Before my first session with Mike he had asked for my goals and history of injuries. I sent him an essay with links to videos of the kind of dancing/movement I wanted to achieve. In our first session it was clear that Mike had read and watched what I sent him, which was great because the 3 trainers I tried before didn’t have this level of preparation.
So far it’s been great! I’ve been training with Mike since end of January 2019. We train about once a week in the F3 studio and then I do a “homework” workout between my sessions with him. The homework workout is simple and effective and much more easy to sustain than what I was trying from the web. I’ve seen the greatest amount of improvement in my fitness than I’ve ever seen before. I’m able to do pushups and I’m able to dance again! My knees and annoying joint pain that used to plague my existence have greatly subsided.
All of this has greatly impacted my life for the better, and I could not have achieved it without Mike’s expertise and guidance.

This place is great. Mike and Portia are great trainers. I have a shoulder problem and they both are quick to change and adapt the exercises to make sure I don't further injure myself. They are always well prepared and change the exercises daily to ensure that both cardio and strenght training are included. I highly reccommend F3!!

Love this place and Mike! I am an early morning exerciser and want to pack in a sweaty and challenging mix of weights and cardio in a realistic amount of time. I'm not looking for over the top rah-rah but I want a trainer who knows how to make me work. Mike puts a lot of thought into mixing up the challenges and creates a supportive and fun environment that isn't 'in your face.' The group workouts are a good mix of challenge and fun - plus, the gym is clean, and Mike really knows what he's doing. For someone who has dealt with back and neck injuries, I really appreciate his ability to modify all exercises. Highly recommend F3!

I started at F3 Fitness 3 months ago. My chiropractor recommended I try F3 due to Mike’s training as a chiropractor and his ability to work with athletes restricted due to an injury. I was recovering from a neck injury suffered during a CrossFit class.
My primary goal was to improve my overall strength.
Mike and Portia are awesome, knowledgeable, caring, and personable. They have helped me work to meet my goals. They push you to work hard but never at the expense of your well-being. They encourage you to listen to your body. They always check your form, ask how you’re doing and help address any aches and pains.
The classes are never boring. They are challenging and I always leave the place sweating. I absolutely love the early morning class. It leaves me feeling energized and prepared for my hectic day ahead.
In the 3 months since I joined I have noticed a difference in my overall strength and appearance. Joining F3 Fitness was the best decision I’ve made for myself.

I joined Mike’s gym about 4 weeks ago. I’ve never worked out so effectively in my life. I’ve noticeably strengthened my core, which helped improved all aspects of my physiology - I’m so much stronger and feel so much better! Plus, I love the small group size and personal attentiveness from the trainers. I’m not a gym rat but I think I finally found something I can stick with! Try a trial class! You will love it!

I was looking for a place to help me safely recover from surgery, while keeping myself motivated and SO Happy to have found Mike. All reviews are so true, the training is tough but with so much fun. Mike keeps profiles of each member and designed routine in advance. He would tailor the movement to your condition and I never felt any discomfort after the surgery. I would highly recommend F3 fitness. Give it a try! :)

F3 Fitness does a great job providing really challenging workouts in a fun way. I have tried various exercise programs over the years, but this is one that has lasted for me. If you have any injuries, Mike will always find an alternate exercise to accommodate your injury. Every time the workout is different, so you don't get bored. Thanks F3 Fitness - I have never been so strong before!

F3 Fitness is The Best! I have been working out with Mike York for 5 years: 3x/wk at 5 AM. The challenging but well-supported workouts have kept me motivated and improved my strength, stamina and flexibility immensely.
The good people sharing the sessions keep it fun but focused on fitness.

I have been working out with Mike at F3 fitness since he opened a few years ago. Mike’s 5am workouts are the only thing that can motivate me to get out of bed at 4:30am! All the workouts are different and challenging and Mike is able to modify workouts to fit individual’s needs. I cannot recommend F3 Fitness and Mike York enough!

For the first time I have found a place where I can stick to the workout schedule, and not feel unmotivated to come back. I've stuck with F3 Fitness for years now, and the workouts are still fun and different. And, I feel like I'm in better shape than I have been in in years. The trainers are very experienced in and attuned to injury prevention and working around an existing injury. This is part of the reason I've been able to consistently come here so long.

I've been working out with Mike for several years now and LOVE IT. He is simultaneously kind and tough. He happily gives modifications for injuries. It's the perfect size of group: enough people to have a fun time, small enough that you get definite personal attention (like an extra weight on your back when he knows you can handle it!). Can't recommend this place enough!

I've been working out with Mike since he opened F3 Fitness and I can't speak highly enough of Mike and F3.
First I'll address the location and setting. Casual and sweatpants welcome = no need for your Lululemon and no make-up! The people that train with Mike are fun to be around, supportive and non-competitive.
Mike is very knowledgeable. His workouts are tough but somehow we manage to laugh while we work. He changes the workouts for each session and always tries to add new elements. If you have an injury he knows how to modify exercises and keep you moving. I'm able to take elements of the workouts and do things at home on my off days.
This isn't CrossFit. This is smart exercise for people that want to be strong, fit and healthy.

I've been working out with Mike and his team for over three years now and haven't been this fit since High School volleyball. Prior to going to F3, I hadn't had success with getting to the gym, membership after membership gone wasted. The F3 approach has me committed to 2-3 days a week and the workouts are varied and challenging. The camaraderie between the clientele and the trainers is a terrific plus. Like we say, "Come for the workout, stay for the life lessons".
