I have tried several gyms, and though I love getting out for runs and biking, I know I needed more to build strength as I get older!
I've had an exceptional experience at Flight Performance and Fitness (13 Wall St, Waltham), and I can't recommend it enough. What truly sets this gym apart is the personalized approach to training. From day one, the staff took the time to understand my fitness goals, limitations, and preferences, creating a customized plan that feels both challenging and achievable.
The trainers are not only knowledgeable but genuinely invested in your progress. They’re attentive, encouraging, and always ready to adapt your routine as your needs evolve. I love this gym! I don’t consider myself particularly athletic and wanted more guidance through personal training. I decided to sign up for the small group personal training and so happy I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I’m greeted by the trainers with a high five and a smile; they’re all wonderful and help correct my form and guide me through everything. The other people who attend this gym are a variety of fitness levels and body types, so it’s not a “meat head” type gym where I feel self conscious or like I’m going to be judged. Everyone has been respectful and encouraging and for someone who doesn’t really like working out, I find myself really enjoying my time here :) also, the prices are very reasonable and in my opinion worth every penny

I’ve been training at Flight for over a year, and the experience has been excellent. I cannot say enough good things about Flight! Dillon and Jared are both so welcoming to new members and are great owners who treat their staff well. All of the trainers are also so helpful and push me to be better and to achieve my fitness goals (Shoutout to Dan, Bryce, Mag, & Everett).
Everett especially has gone above and beyond to help me achieve my fitness goals. He is extremely helpful writing my programs that best fit my schedule, fitness goals, and interests. He's an amazing guy who truly makes my experience with Flight exceptional.

I came to Flight with a solid base, but was ready for a change from a mobility, explosive movement, and general fitness perspective. Flight has exceeded my expectations. Programming is targeted, thoughtful, and rebuilds your strength and functionality from the ground up (even if you think you don't need that). I love working with all of the trainers here. Their suggestions for improvement are key for ensuring your workout is worth your time and helping you to achieve your goals. I feel a sense of balance within my body that I definitely didn't feel before training at Flight. It's a great place.

I can’t believe I found this place because it’s exactly what I was looking for. It’s a small spot—a bit of a hole in the wall—but the people could not be more wonderful, smart, and friendly.
It’s small-group personal training. Essentially, they pair you one-on-one with a personal trainer and customize a workout just for you. They have all the equipment you need. It’s not the shiniest or newest, but it works perfectly well, and it’s definitely cost-effective.
I come in twice a week and do my workouts. I get so much attention from the four coaches in the room at the same time, and I’ve been making tons of progress. I’ve been here for six or seven weeks now, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more.
Couldn’t recommend it more highly. If you’re looking for personal training, don’t want to pay a fortune, and still want the highest quality, this is the place. I’ve been a member of Equinox, the Sports Club LA, and various other gyms over the years, and this one is my favorite.

Wonderful work out environment. Flight Performance has created a truly welcoming environment for people at all levels of fitness from newbies to power lifters. The trainers are always quick and happy to help and offer support and guidance. I love that this is truly a fitness focused environment. There are no mirrors around only fun music, great equipment, helpful trainers and kind gym goers. Highly recommend for anyone looking to do weight training to keep themselves strong or get themselves strong.

I joined Flight about 2 years ago as I was emerging from the postpartum phase with my second child. I had a long history of chronic dieting, weight cycling, and disordered eating and while I loved exercise and being active it was always with an unhealthy focus on my weight and size. After doing a lot of work on unlearning diet culture and getting to know my own body and what foods and movement it craves, I was intrigued to see an ad for Flight and the focus on strength and resilience.
I am not naturally athletic and never did sports as a kid so I wasn't sure if I would fit into the gym environment but from my very first encounter with the team I was immediately at ease and knew this would be the place for me. The workouts have always been perfectly tailored to my fitness level and ability and my progress has been so steady and consistent that I sometimes forget how far I've come. If you had told me 2 years ago that I would be able to deadlift almost 150lbs I would have laughed in your face, but I can do so much now that I couldn't have achieved with traditional exercise models. I have more energy, I am able to walk and run and go up the stairs with more ease, I can lift my children and play with them joyfully. My body's shape has changed a bit (clothes fit better, thighs are thicker!) and I am able to finally love and accept my body for what it is because I am amazed by what it can do now. The community at Flight has become a source of friendship and support in ways I could not have anticipated. When I have had life events or situations that have meant I can't come in as frequently, my coach always modifies my workouts so that I can keep making progress at my own pace. I plan to be a member of Flight for a long time to come and highly recommend it to everyone!

I've never been an athlete -- most of my life I hated working out. I used to feel intimidated by the weights room. Flight made training easy, accessible, and most importantly, FUN for me.
The coaches writes a program personalised just for each client -- and this is really true. My coach adjusted my program when I developed arthritis in my hip so I could strengthen the muscles around my hip without worsening it. And the coaches on the floor would suggest further modifications if I was in more pain / less mobile on a particular day. Post-surgery, my coach continued to support my rehab, pushing me a bit when I needed it, but never letting me do too much too fast. The quality of coaching is the #1 reason for going to Flight.
The #2 reason to go to Flight is the community. The coaches, the clients, and the general ambience and banter is so enjoyable that I don't ever have to force myself to go to the gym, or rely on motivation alone; I want to go to the gym because I like being around the people there.
The coaches are all athletes, a lot of the clients are athletes, but I have never felt that they give me less attention, or are less nice to me, because I am not one.
I cannot recommend Flight Performance & Fitness enough. And finally, shoutout to my coach, Jared!

Being a college rower and grad school triathlete athlete I’ve always worked out. In 2016 I had a major lung surgery that took me out. I turned to Flight to help me recover and come back. Since then I’ve faced surgeries almost every year. After a major abdominal surgery in 2023 I wasn’t sure if my body could come back yet again but thanks to the accommodating and personalized training plans from Jared and Dylan, I was able to come back faster and better like every one before. This year I’ve watched my run pace get faster throughout the year and I’ve been able to get more power on the bike. I owe it all to the training plans and coaching Flight provides. Their tailer-made training plans help me work on sport specific needs and have helped keep me injury free. I’m thankful for the community Jared, Dylan and their coaches foster and for their continued support.

Flight has been phenomenal and I continue to be super-impressed. It is not only an overall fantastic fitness model, but it is also a model that would benefit U.S. health and society collectively.
I lived and worked in South America for several years, and the fitness centers in the country I lived in have a similar fitness model. I never thought it could be duplicated in the United States, but Flight has proven that it can.
The coaching structure and support, the personalized workout planning, and the targeted education and guidance (with real-time instructional videos and in-person coaching) are what truly set Flight apart.
Moreover, the wide-range of flexible session times on a daily and weekly basis are conducive to my busy professional work schedule. This has enabled me to build a weekly workout schedule that fits my life very well.

Cannot say enough good things about Jared and the rest of the team.
Was looking for a gym that’d help me get the most out of college rugby and began training with Flight about 5 years ago. Jared and team really know what they’re doing when it comes to helping you get the most out of your sport - After every offseason I’d come back to school noticeably stronger, quicker, leaner, and more athletic.
My junior year I tore my ACL, PCL, MCL, and meniscus, and wasn’t sure if I was going to be playing rugby again - even had a few orthopedics tell me as such. But with the athleticism I had built up to that point with flight, and with Jared’s programming on top of my physical therapy, I not only made a full recovery, but came back stronger. I was blowing my PT away with the progress I had been making at each bench mark test, and was able to return to the field at exactly 9 months from surgery. I felt stronger and even more athletic than I did before the injury when I came back - I ended up getting named to the All Conference team as well as getting invited to the NCR All-Star tournament despite coming off such an injury, things that I never thought would be possible for me when I initially got hurt.
If you’re looking to get everything out of your sport and more, there’s no better place in Greater Boston to train.

Flight is a truly unique gym that really strikes a balance between supporting individual goals and fostering a strong sense of belonging. There isn’t one “type” at Flight. Members are all ages, backgrounds and abilities. My individualized program keeps me engaged, excited and safely on track. And at the same time, there’s something incredibly motivating about seeing other members pushing themselves to reach their goals. The coaching staff is exceptional—not only are they knowledgeable, but they’ll always offer encouragement, thoughtful feedback, and answers to questions. It’s clear that part of the coaching culture is continued learning and being deeply invested in each member’s success.
I’ve been a member of plenty of gyms and none compare to Flight. I’d recommend them to everyone.

I’ve always been an athlete and in good shape, but in my mid/late 40’s I let things get away from me and I ended up tearing my ACL playing volleyball. After having surgery and going through recovery Covid hit which put my plans of getting back into great shape again on hold. I was beyond thrilled when I found Flight Performance and Fitness. They are exactly what I need in my workout program. They design my program to fit my needs and my goals. I’m 54 now and as much as I’d like to think I can keep up with the younger generation, I can’t always do that, but that doesn’t deter me from doing a great workout that builds muscle and keeps me healthy to try. The coaches are all great about knowing me and what my strengths and limitations are and pushing me to be the best I can be. The structure of the workouts fits my needs perfectly. If left to my own devices I am sure I would over do it or do something incorrectly and end up hurting myself. They help me progress through my workouts building that stamina to move onto the next level when ready. They also have modifications on exercises if needed that make me feel like I am not taking the easy road just a different road to reach the same goal. It’s both a mental and a physical journey for me. No matter what stage of fitness or age you are in your life they will design a program for you and provide the support to reach your goals. I couldn’t be happier I saw their ad in my social media feed.

After nearly 1.5 years of physical therapy for my low back and hip, on top of a regular exercise routine, I wasn’t getting or feeling better. Then I heard Flight Performance and Fitness opened up a new space in Waltham.
While some would say that’s part of getting older and even the result of menopause - I’m 54 years old, I refused to think that this was just what life was going to be.
Within 3 months of coming 2x and then 3x weekly, I was no longer in pain. The coaches knew my goals and my “limitations” and built a personal program for me! It’s been nearly a year and I’ve never felt better or stronger. The pain and limited mobility that I had when I arrived - well that went away within 2 months! Since then I’ve gotten stronger, playing tennis again and have lost 15 pounds of fat while progressively getting stronger.
The outstanding coaching and a truly personalized program means the right exercises at the right time for my goals! I can truly be fit and feel fabulous in my 50s!! Thank you coaches - Dan, Bryce, Everett, Jared, Magnus, and the entire flight coaching staff for creating a wonderful community.

Flight is the perfect gym for anyone interested in improving their fitness level, no matter their experience. I found the gym by chance, and have been working out here for 7 months with no regrets. I had only ever done cardio and never strength training before starting at Flight, and I would not call myself athletic. The trainers are so knowledgeable and friendly, and they work with you to develop a program that fits your needs and goals. I had a herniated cervical disc 4 years ago so I was extra cautious about overdoing it and re-injuring myself, and my trainer took all of this into account and even adjusted my program on the fly on days that I had flare-ups. This is the first time in my life I’ve been regularly motivated to go to the gym 3x/week and it’s all thanks to Flight!

If you’re considering joining a gym, just pull the trigger and join Flight. Lifting and working out used to be a very regular part of my life and I knew I missed it but it took coming to here to remember how much it matters and how important it is to me. I’m so happy that I joined this summer. Leaving after my first two visits I felt so much better mentally, physically, and emotionally, than I had in such a long time. The trainers are all wonderful humans and it’s clear how invested they are in their work and their clients. They’re always available to answer questions, demo an exercise, give tips on proper form, and give a little inspo if you’re needing it. You are given a program that is tailored specifically to your goals. Membership at Flight is worth its weight in gold. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, & work hard to provide individualized attention for everyone in the gym. I originally met Dylan, one of the Flight founders, when he worked at a local Boston Sports Club (BSC) gym. I immediately left BSC when he opened Flight, it was a no brainer!! Their programming, HIIT / strength & conditioning classes are amazing ... plus, what makes Flight special is the culture and community that Flight has so intentionally created. It's become almost family-like, once you sign up, you're in!!!!
I've since moved away from Boston, but was back this summer and the top priority on my list was going back for a workout at Flight. You won't regret joining this community!

If I could give Flight 100 stars, I would. They are FANTASTIC, super attentive and motivating. I worked out at Flight for two years prior to getting pregnant and was the strongest I’ve ever been! The trainers motivated me to lift more than I ever have. During my pregnancy, each trainer was very attentive to my needs and made sure to help differentiate and reposition my body. I was able to bounce right back after delivery thanks to these guys!

My sister recommended I see Vini and learned about this group style fitness. I’m someone who heavily relies on extrinsic motivating factors when working out, so this group style strength and conditioning format I really enjoyed, yet made it feel like personal training with individual attention from coaches whenever needing help. However, I have to dock a star due to the timing of sessions currently offered as it did not work for me due to my shift work schedule. I work a lot of evening shifts as a nurse back to back 3-11:30pm and the latest morning session during the week is only offered at 9:30am then nothing until 3pm after that. The Saturday time slots of 10-11am and 11:30am-12:30pm I would have loved to see also offered during the week, or even 10:30-11:30am or 11am-12pm slots. Because of this lack of flexibility with late morning sessions during week, I unfortunately had to end my membership. It also was too challenging to arrive on time as getting to this part of Newton can be tricky with traffic. So for those who live closer and could work with existing times, I’m jealous as would have stuck with this if was more convenient for me.

Staff are very welcoming and great at what they do. Great at helping people with their form during workouts to help prevent injury and get full feel of the workout. As well the gym is always clean and organized!! Love this gym and recommend to anyone from athlete to elder.
