I took my kid here for 3-4 months, he learned basically nothing. It is not unexpected considering classes are 30 min, going in and out of pool takes some time, there are 4 kids per instructor, instructor spends time explaining things, and kids needs to wait each other. That equals to 5 min of swim time at most per kid. You end up paying 160-200$ per month for 5 min class basically. Luckily I realized this was a waste of time when he went to his grandparents pool and basically learned 10 times more in a day compared to what he learned here in 3 months. It is understandable that we all want our kids to learn swimming but please look for other options other than these kind of places that focus on making money rather than teaching your child. I started taking my kid to a local pool to practice together, it is much cheaper to pay membership for both of us. PS: not even mentioning waiting times for changing rooms

We have been with Goldfish for 6 months now. My son has AuDHD and he struggles with listening, following rules and calm body but team (specially shout out to Nicky) has been teaching and guiding him with kind and patient approach. He loves it and he looks forward to his swimming school sessions every week. Today he upgrades from level 1 to 2, we are super excited. Look forward to many years here to enjoy swimming time!

Update: it is kinda sad to make this update but the past 6 months we got switched to 4 instructors, it has been a nightmare for my son. He struggled with all these changes - very frequent rotations. I believe the instructors struggled dealing with him too because most of them do not experiences with kids on spectrum or stay with my son long enough to understand where he's at and how to help him improve. This might be cool with kids that don't care about changes, new faces etc. I still think overall Goldfish is a lovely place for kids to have fun but no longer the right place for us unfortunately.

The atmosphere is designed to excite children, with fun elements and a reward lollipop at the end. However, the quality of the coaches varies greatly. Some coaches repeatedly make the children do the same things without much progress, and some don’t even watch the children they’re supposed to be coaching, instead focusing on other lanes. I hope the quality and attentiveness of the coaches can be reviewed and improved.

Our family recommends goldfish in Burlington for so many reasons, from the well educated staff to the super clean and WARM pool. My son has been taking lessons for almost two years now and he has grown into such a confident swimmer during this time. With the help of his instructor Ada he has learned many life saving skills for when he is in the water!

Some other pros of Goldfish that we love are-

Changing huts - for before and after lessons so no leaving in wet swim clothes. Showers, a bathing suit spinner(the best amenity by far), and a hair drying station for the days it’s cold out! The pool deck is also heated to the perfect temperature, so even when it’s cold outside you are warm for your lesson! And last but not least, smaller class ratios! The classes are perfect sized, which is great!

Goldfish has been a great spot for my two toddlers to learn to swim. They are taught skills to keep them safe in and around the water as well as to how to have fun in the water. We have been coming to goldfish Burlington since my daughter was about 20-months old and she is now almost 3.5y/o! She loves it! Both of my kiddos are so comfortable in the space... staff arr always sure to welcome them to Goldfish, ask how they are, etc. I am so happy with the service and relationships we have built here.

Arrived 10 minutes early, for my kids first lesson, and I checked in at the front for my appointment. We were waiting for our group to get called as the previous group was still taking lessons. When the previous group ended my kid's name was called and there was an instructor saying my kid did a great job even though we haven't gone up yet. This really concerned me for my kids safety as well as others. There seems to be a lack of keeping track of the kids coming in and out.

Update: I went through with my group. As I watched from the watching area they kept switching my kid's lane and instructor 3 times. The check-in person told me that after they finished they will talk to me about his progress plus the previous incident. After my kid finished with his lesson I waited 15+ minutes to hear from someone that the check-in person told me about. I let the check-in person know that no one spoke to me and I left.

They drag swim promotions and barely give 25 minutes of swim time between 4 students. When I told my kids we were switching they were delighted. They routinely had substitute teachers. It’s hit or miss. Our children were enrolled for a total of 9 months at this Goldfish and another franchise in the area. Pros: it’s a fun, kid-friendly and reassuring environment. Cons: it doesn’t work for every child. My son in particular was a water-anxious child who did not show any progress after months. To be frank, he began regressing, especially after the focus turned to his behaviors, which we suspected were a byproduct of his anxiety. We pulled the plug and enrolled both children in a nearby swim school that offers private lessons. Two months later, they were swimming like fish. Evidently there are many children like my son who just need private lessons. So the methodology at Goldfish may work for some, but not all kids. I feel like this may be known, but it’s up to parents to make the call as we were not advised to go private, but this was clearly the solution.

Abbie Novello is a great swim instructor. My son started mini class 1 with her at 4 months old and has had a blast each time. I love how consistent her classes are each week. Good for entertainment and for your kids to have a dip in water. But if you want them to learn swimming, do yourself and your kids a favor - find something else! They are not going to learn to swim here. Lots of issues to talk about - mainly the teaching process to instructor experience etc.

But I am going to keep this short. My kids went here for several years without learning ANYTHING!! And just a few lesson somewhere else - and they almost have it now.

Goldfish has fantastic covid protocols in place. They check temps, require face coverings, have dots to stand on while waiting and instructors wear face shields. Chairs for parents are spaced out and sprayed down after every class. Changing rooms are cleaned after every use. We can relax and enjoy without having a lot of concerns about covid. On top of that our son's swimming has greatly improved. He was swallowing water a lot whole swimming even with a float, but now can swim for several feet underwater with no problems. We feel much better about his safety in the water.

We went 4 seasons to the YMCA and my boys never put their head under the water even one time. Within one lesson at Goldfish my boys were happily putting their head under water and within 4 lessons they could swim. I am so impressed. A special shout out to our instructor Brandon who has made swimming lessons a fun experience for my boys; it’s now a highlight of their week.

The the teacher turnover is insane at this school. My child frequently has a different teacher every week, which impacts his ability to build a relationship with his teacher and therefore impacts the speed in which he's developing his skills. My child looks forward to going every week and has been making progress, but it would be a 5-star program if there was any consistency in instructors.

I think it's great that kids are learning to swim early. My 2 boys started learning to swim before they were 1 YO. Today, they can swim like fishes.

The facility and parking are a HUGE problem. I have worked down the street for the past 2 decades. I drive by Goldfish Swim School 2 times a day. It's an industrial park with a relatively small road. Until GFSS moved in, there were always NO PARKING SIGNS on that side of the street, since there was no room to park on the street. GFSS took down the no parking signs. Now, the entire street fills up on BOTH SIDES with oversized SUVs. There is often only enough room for one car to drive between in the evening. THEN ... there are the privileged parents that lead their little children right into the street in front of on-coming traffic. This is horrible.

I hope the owner reads this, takes the situation to heart (rather than the wallet), and does the right thing. If not, it won't be long before a child gets hit by a car ... and this warning will leave you with lifelong guilt, if not legal liability. You have been warned.

Parents ... please park in the parking lot if possible. It's YOUR child, after all. Please be responsible for everyone's sake.

Overall this is a great facility. My 3 year old has been taking lessons here for about 10 weeks and has become more confident in the water. The only down sides are; 1.) We were told that they would have 30 min of pool time but in reality they get about 25. 2.) The larger concern is that when we signed her up we were told she would have the same instructor every week. This is not the case. Her group has had 5 to 6 different instructors in the 10 week time frame. By the time the kids get comfortable with the instructor they switch on them.

We had our one year old daughter here for around 3-4 months, once a week. It's great. That are small personal classes and a lifesaving skill they are teaching babies. My kids both take swim lessons here and we love it! The facility is very clean and they have changing rooms, lockers and an area for drying swimsuits and blow drying hair. The class sizes are small which makes it manageable and the instructors are able to keep the kids attention and allow them ample time to practice their skills during the 30 minute session. I love that parents are invited poolside at the end of the lesson so they instructors can give updates on how the kids are doing with certain skills.
