It gotten better when it comes to staff. But other than that, love this gym. Great equipments. Wide open. Well divided.

If you’re looking for no frills, straight gym, get in, work out and leave its perfect. Dated equipment but it gets the job done. Old school feel for those who are truly dedicated. Outside of that - EXTREMELY poor customer service. Non responsive and dismissive. Poorly maintained facilities. If you’re expecting to change gym locations - membership cancellation is a hassle - you’re better off not becoming a member at a β€œfranchise” location - as they operate under different rules regarding membership/cancellation process.

Save yourself the headache. This location is not worth the hassle unless you’re stationary, and don’t expect more than a room with weights.

The gym is fine for the price. Equipment is good and generally other than 5-8 you can have the place to yourself. The hours ridihere beculous though. They once closed up shop earlier for multiple days because they thought it was too hot outside.... The gym is indoors. They also basically took all of labor day weekend off unless you are able to workout early in the morning. It's cheap but just be prepared for the hours to be a mess

Staff had no knowledge of programs. Confusing set up. Lots of good equipment.

Although dated and showing signs of age, the gym is big and the ample amount of equipment is spread out evenly throughout the space. My issue is that I wanted to try the place out and their website offers you a free one week pass. When I arrived this morning, the guy at the desk said that pass didn't apply to them, it only applied to "corporate," whatever that means. This isn't the only gym around, but it is one of the more expensive ones, so no loss to me.

Regardless of the facilities DO NOT JOIN! After 10+ phone calls/emails over months they are still charging the monthly fee. Every convo is the same..."so sorry. i will have heather/robin/random name call you when they get in" It is just the standard gym scam to make more money. After I write this I am contacting the State's AG. Mass AG does NOT like businesses who cheat customers.

Good gym. I love it is very spread out. Plenty of room. Tons of equipment. They have everything you need. The only thing I hate is the locker room is very poorly venthilated. If someone is taking a dump or if someone smells like bad BO after a good workout the whole locker room smells so bad it almost makes you gag everytime. Other than that its a great gym!

Don't like the sign up experience; too many different "fees" on top of the regular price. Just make it $30 a month no contacts or $5 a day and they could double their members

Decent equipment, big gym. three squat racks, three benches, one incline bench. Not a bad gym. I tried their free week pass offer. However, the guy working the front desk said it didn't apply to that gym, it only applied to corporate?? My first and only visit to this gym.

Do not open a contract with them. I tried 3 times to cancel my membership and still struggling, they make it so difficult that eventually you get tired and let it be. They would ask you to send a letter by mail and if something is missing in the letter they would have you send another one. The letter has to be sent 30 days in advance and blaw blaw and what not!

I really recommend you to just go to the next door gym. If it wasn't for some horrible employees, the costumer service would be ok.
I've been seriously disrespected there. The price isn't favorable. And the equipment is pretty old. They don't have any modern machine. I really missed good equipment there. And I rather to miss money than go back there. The environment doesn't have any temperature service. And the staff can be very disrespectful. I don't know how they are still open with too many better gyms in the market. Too unprofessional.

Big financial scam between Golds and ABC financial long after cancellation.
I went to this gym because it seemed simple, affordable and close to home. The initial staff were very friendly and helpful. I moved out of the state and went through the ridiculous cancellation process of mailing a letter to ABC financial TWICE. They charged me for November and December when I wasn't even living in the state or country anymore. ABC assured me that they would put an immediate stop payment and fix this issue. I thought it was fixed until I saw 3 months later 3xpayments pending on my card. I immediately flagged as fraud with my credit card on a stop payment, I spoke with ABC who said on their end the payments were stopped and they were charged directly by the gym. I now speak with the manager of the gym who said they had sent me collections (NEVER RECIEVED ANYTHING since speaking with ABC and being told payments were stopped) I also spoke to someone at the gym back in December who also told me it was taken care of. What a nightmare, this gym is definitely not worth this hassle of cancelling, having not stepped foot in the gym for over 8 months and still dealing with this.

I have been fighting to cancel my membership, they tell you you can cancel by phone but then you call that line and they tell you to send a physical letter to AZ and then they will continue to bill you the following month. Stay away from this contract shell game. The gym itself is not even worth what they charge you.

Its good size gym, where everything is separated in a organized manner.
Been going here for 4 years now, no complaints about the gym.
The only issue is if you are trying to quit this gym.
By brother had to go through a big hassle to quit.
You cant quit there, They make you write a letter, mail it to this abc financial company without any time frames or nothing.
Be sure to ask plenty of questions before signing up.

I love this gym. It has everything you need and a women’s workout room so your not out with all the big boys. The staff is great and super nice! And no it’s not a fitness center so for those who complain about the rug and other little things need to go elsewhere. I’ve been a member of a high end fitness center and you pay 3-4 times more. This is a gym! Know the difference.

And I had to put my membership on hold for 3/4 mos for an unexpected Health issue and I had no issues. It was done immediately and no complications.

I searched North Boston area for a place with plenty of free weights and squat racks. Finally found it at Golds in Medford. Rudy at the front desk in the morning is the man too. If you just want some free weights with plenty of space, this is it.

They will steal you blind. If I can start a contract in Medford Mass I should be able to end one in Medford. This gym makes you send a letter to Arizona to end their contract. They clearly have nothing to offer so they steal and get working people to sign on to contracts.

FRAUD. Avoid at all costs. I did what I thought was a "trial membership". It was written on my contract in pen. When I told the gym staff and later the manger to cancel they did not and instead kept billing me. I called their billing company ABC billing several times regarding the issue and I go them to stop charging me, only to refer me to a collecting agency 10 months later. I am currently gathering information for a lawsuit.

The staff are rude , disrespectful, called my husband fat twice ( not friends or cool with him at all) I'm stuck paying monthly even after my one year contract expired .ABC financial is absolutely no help , they said they see no record of them still withdrawing money out of my account but I have back statements that can prove they are still taking money out my account. Now I have to go through the trouble of canceling my card one more time.

I'm just going to do this quickly. I've been a member here for five years so I'd say I've almost seen all of it.

The bad
- a lot of the gym equipment is falling apart. Whether it is the elliptical machines that scream like banshees when you are using them or the locker doors that are one slight tug away from falling off completely, you will see something that needs repair.

- the trainers. There are a ton of them. Most of them work for the Silva's. Usually I would argue that having trainers is a good thing, but with the ones at this gym do things rather differently and it creates a lot of frustration. What they do is have groups of 4-6 people and they wander around the gym having the entire group work on a couple exercises. This leads to a LONG wait if you want to do the same exercise as them. You're usually better off going to another exercise all together and hoping that another herd hasn't moved in when you get back to it. Don't get me wrong, the trainers seem to mean well and they appear to be pleasant, it just seems like they don't really recognize how much room they take up.

- the parking. This place shares its lot with three businesses and a church. In addition to this extra traffic, the entire lot is not painted, so people just kind of guess where spots are.

The good
- lots of weight. They have dumbbells that go up to 115 lbs as well as kettle bells that go up to at least 45 (I haven't found one that went higher)
- Lots of cardio machines. There is an entire wall of machines for cardio and while you will often run into several that are in need of repair (as stated above) you usually can find another one.
- The cafe. This is the third cafe that they've had since I joined. And this one seems to be the best of the three. The staff there is always nice and there isn't usually a huge line

Overall, it's a gym. It has the weight I need to get a workouts and while it does have its fair share of inconveniences, I can get my workout done.

I signed a contract with golds gym for six months locked in. They, however sent in a different contract to their collection company ABC financial for a locked in twelve month contract. After eight or nine months I attempted to stop the month to month payments by contacting ABC financial. They, in turn, said they had no jurisdiction and I had to deal with the issue with golds gym Meford directly. The first thing Golds Gym told me was that I needed to talk to ABC financial (the old send the client in circles to better screw them over). Upon telling them that I spoke with ABC and they sent me to golds, they asked if I could bring in my receipt of the contract so they could update their files. I did so. I proceeded to contact them once a week for the next four weeks seeing whether they had dealt with the issue and they constantly said that once someone with enough juice was around they would get it done. They charged my card again the next month. I called to see what had happened and the person claimed that they were a new manager and that I needed to bring in my receipt of the contract again. So, maybe this place is in a decent building with some pretty nice equipment, but it is run by criminals who shouldn't be allowed to see the light of day not to say run a business.
P.S. I was paying forty a month for a six month locked in contract but after speaking with some of the other gym goes I learned that you can have a month to month no lock in for thirty a month. If you have no choice but to go to this gym, I'd suggest not accepting any price other than thirty (or lower) a month on a month to month no lock in contract. Otherwise I hope others will boycott this establishment with me and run it into the ground.

Avoid this gym like the plague. This is not because of the gym itself but rather the financial company they use to strong arm members and prevent members from withdrawing. ABC Financial is a predatory company and this gym uses them as a bill processor. While you sign up at the gym, they do not allow you to cancel at the gym. You can not cancel by phone. You must cancel in writing with a company in another state. Avoid this gym, which is sad because they have great classes and instructors as well as decent facilities.

Worst and inconsiderate people i have ever encountered. I am a Gold's Gym member in Connecticut and I travel to Boston very often and so I use most of the Gold's Gym around. I would have to agree and disagree with the reviews for gold gym because I have signed up for jiu-jitsu and muay thai and their is really now lovg term plans. But on the down side it cost anywhere from 80-110 dollars a month.
And lastly the gym is huge so it's a pretty good deal but not the best.
