Jesse Wilson and his crew are the most scientific, mindful, collaborative, caring and inclusive people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with both as a client and as a physical therapist. Since the pandemic it’s become crystal-clear that attention to and investment in our physical and mental health is of utmost importance! Ignite has 1-1 and small group training with personalized exercise programs that focus on whole body and functional strengthening. Ive been a member for 4 years now and although the work outs are challenging, the benefits motivate me to never miss a session. 6:30 AM Monday, small group training has been the best way to start off the week and get through the dreaded Monday feeling!

Ignite has changed my life.
During the pandemic I was working from home and not getting enough exercise. I started working with a trainer at Ignite, and then joined a Saturday group as well. I have met the nicest, most supportive community here.
I'm still going strong over four years since I started here. I work out in small groups three times a week and my trainer customizes my workouts to meet my needs. It is great to get a unique workout paired with the camaraderie of others.
I highly recommend Ignite to get you back on track.

Jesse and the team at Ignite do an amazing job to create a fun and effective environment for getting in shape. The workouts that they plan for me target key areas and help prevent injuries. They are also balanced for the different muscle groups in the way they are planned. The facility is well equipped and the community of other folks who are there feel like my “ Ignite” family! Overall Jesse has helped me improve my strength which has allowed me to remain active ( at the age of 63) on the soccer pitch, on my gravel and bikepacking bike, and in my running shoes!

I've been coming to fitness classes at Ignite for years and I can't say enough positive things about them. Jesse works with everyone at an individual level first, to come up with programming specific to each person but done in a fun class setting. I never need to worry about being stuck at a pleatau because the more I progress, the more challenging the exercises get. I would recommend Ignite for anyone of any fitness level.

In just a year ignite has changed my life. I feel stronger and more energetic after going to the gym. He keeps me safe and motivated. He gives me just enough challenge while keeping my workouts interesting. It’s a marvelous community. There is always parking and everyone is supportive. Let me be honest: I really don’t like exercising. I do it because I need to, and because I know it is good for me.
Prior to joining Ignite in 2019, I had never had long-term success sticking with an exercise plan. I recall being nervous about joining a new gym, but there was really no need. Jesse has this great way of putting you at ease while still making you work hard. He tells corny jokes and distracts you with funny stories, and then you forget how many lunges and split squats and burpees he made you do.
As a physician, I’m also very appreciative of Jesse’s interest in knowing the biomechanics of exercises. He’s fiercely dedicated to preventing injury and appropriately rehabbing any issues we arrive with. He trains and consults DPTs and MDs because we trust him to work with us, and protect us from hurting ourselves by pushing too hard.
My favorite thing about Ignite, though, is the people. Jesse has fostered a wonderfully accepting environment. Ignite is welcoming to a wide range of ages, body sizes, levels of fitness, sexual orientations, and gender expressions. Jesse also is invested in training new trainers, though none have succeeded him yet in Dad Jokes.
As for the logistics: this isn’t a “drop in when you feel like it” gym. This is a gym where you make an appointment and have an individual or group fitness class that is customized to what you need. In the pandemic, Jesse started offering Zoom classes, and some people still join remotely to this day. There are different vibes to different timeslots—I do not understand the pep of the 6:30am folks— but we’re all one big family. We notice when someone is out for a while, and are excited to bring newbies into the fold.

I’ve been training with Ignite for about a year and a half, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. I feel the strongest I've felt since college.
I love that the workouts are truly full-body and emphasize strength, balance, and mobility rather than just intensity for its own sake. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and encouraging, and the community they’ve built is so positive and supportive — it’s one of those rare gyms where everyone genuinely roots for each other.

Jesse and the team have the best approach I’ve ever experienced in both group and individual training. There’s no cookie cutter method here. Everything is individually tailored and grounded in sports science. I’ve played sports most of my life and worked with excellent strength and conditioning coaches, but I’ve never experienced the level of care and detail that Ignite provides. They don’t just help you reach your physical goals, they set you up to excel in other areas of your life as well.

Signing up for Ignite was one of the best decisions I've made since moving to Boston. Jesse and his team are everything you could hope for in a personal trainer: incredibly motivating, genuinely caring, and extremely well-versed in the intricacies of physical anatomy and functional strength training practices.

After a serious running injury, I joined Ignite a year and a half ago with the hope of rebuilding my leg strength. Their expert guidance helped me train rigorously while preventing further injury, and the experience was so positive that I'm now training for my next half marathon this November!

This my favorite place to workout. I have been doing the regular big gym memberships on and off for years. But here, I feel the personal attention and coaching has been bar-none. I'm love being there and I always push myself a little more than I would by myself. Jesse is a very knowledgeable trainer and more importantly, a good friend. I went to Ignite Fitness to help with recovery from a running injury and I had an excellent experience. Jesse (the owner) was responsive to my inquiries and I got set up within a week to meet with my personal trainer, Salma. Salma was awesome! She created a plan for me that not only helped me to feel better but also feel stronger than I have in years! I had wanted to work on recovery from my injury and to learn some exercises that I could do at home and at the gym. She was great at showing me modification for some exercises so that I could do them on my own and she taught me how to use equipment so I could use it on my own at the gym. She was also super flexible with scheduling and just an all around nice person. She listened to my goals and worked with me to meet and exceed these goals. I not only feel stronger but also better about myself! I would strongly recommend Ignite Fitness. They absolutely know what they are doing and will meet your individual needs and teach you about functional movement and strength training.

Joining the Ignite community was the best decision I ever made. The concepts of health and wellness are important to me because I want to live a long, happy life. However, working out has never been a personal passion of mine. The Ignite team’s expertise, passion, and motivation make up for what I lack in those areas. As a result, I credit them in enabling me to realize fitness goals I never thought I could achieve.

Ignite fitness has changed my life. I came into their gym with every day discomfort from pulling my back about a year and a half ago. I had very limited mobility and it was greatly affecting daily living skills. I could only walk about 5 to 10 minutes or less without some discomfort. After about four or five months working with them I was able to walk 2-3 miles and my back is in significantly less discomfort on the daily. In addition I can now take care of what I need to in my house which I was not able to do before working with them. I am eternally grateful for this gym. Thank you most of all to Shamus for truly listening to my needs and taking action.

Jesse is amazing. I was active through my teens, but I'm not an athlete and I work a desk job. I really needed motivation to get healthier and stronger. Jesse makes working out fun and keeps me going. I've been working out with him for 6 years now - the longest I've kept to any fitness regime in my life! I'm in better shape now in my 50s than I was in my 20s and 30s. The combination of in-person and on zoom makes it easy for me to fit my workouts into my schedule, no matter where I am. Jesse is amazing. If he can help a middle-aged , overweight, arthritic person like me develop a strong core, he can certainly help you! Worth every minute I have spent here, getting stronger and feeling better. His Functional Movement Training beats anything I have ever tried.
I wrote this review 5 years ago, time for an update. Today, I am 70 lbs lighter, regularly carry big rocks on my weekends landscaping our place, and don't walk with a cane any more. The small group trainings early in the morning set up my day for better focus and determination at everything I do. Jesse is the trainer that you have always wanted :). And he collects great people around him that help with well-being, like the best PT I've ever had in my life, for example.

I’d been on the hunt for a great functional movement trainer since I moved to Boston from Worcester in 2014. Several iterations of all kinds of different programs later, I finally found Jesse. He is the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. I’ve worked with him for about a year now and I continue to get stronger and my limits continue to expand. As a former gymnast, I’m flexible and strong, and Jesse pushes that all to the max. Jesse gets to know each of his clients and how their bodies work, so that he’s able to put together a comprehensive, SAFE program for each client. Everything Jesse does is safe. You will never feel like you’re going to hurt yourself, and if you do he will make you STOP what you’re doing and do something else. Functional movement training incorporates core strength into each exercise and I often joke that every day is leg day. He’s supportive of my personal goals, pushes me to achieve them, and helps me set new ones. Not only am I lifting heavier, my metabolic capabilities, which I’ve always struggled with, are so much greater than they were when I started with him (hello rope burpees!?). He’s committed to his own professional development and often attends conferences to learn new techniques. He is inventive and always finds new ways to “torture” his clients! I could not possibly recommend Jesse more.
