The facilities here are much older than the Beverly and Gloucester YMCAs and could use some updating. The workout area is also much smaller, but gets the job done. The basketball court is nice, the childcare center is good, and they have a great outdoor splash pad and pool in the summer. I’ve also been to several kids birthday parties here which were nicely done.

The pool area is amazing! It's like a small water park, although it's free for use with membership. It has a nice fenced in grassy area for a picnic also. The bathrooms/ changing area are not up to date like the rest of the facility. I tried to hurry as fast as possible in there. It won't determine us from going back for the pool though!

I am so happy my daughter is at the Amesbury YMCA Child Care Center. She is always happy to go to the child care center to see her teachers Ms. Emma and Ms. Megan and friends in the toddler room! My son had a fabulous time on his first day as if he had been a part of the classroom for awhile already. The teachers for his class are miss Megan and missShelby. I couldnt be more happy with their communication through out the first day. Our son is 4.5 and loves being active and they sure kept him busy. He was upset leaving ...but only because he had a blast, which is always a good sign to me as a mom and previous child care provider. I am also pretty over protective with who I leave my kids with. This would be the third ymca that we have been a part of for preschool and prek. But the first for our son. By Far Amesbury ELC is the cleanest, welcoming and really put their thought into building a great place for kids and families to feel safe and welcome always

My kids were kicked out of the pool because I was not in the water with them. When it's clearly stated in the rules if they use a life jacket they can be in the pool without an adult if they have not passed the swim test. (They are 10) They were using life jackets provided by the Y. I did not have my swim gear with me. Out of all the northshore YMCa's this is the only one we've had issues with. I was present and watching them next to the pool they knew where I was and were able to point me out to the life guard that made them leave. Also the family locker room is not well kept.

It's difficult to endure an injury, especially when you already have the challenge of photosensitive epilepsy. I had broken my leg one year ago this past September 2022 after falling into a sink hole. The Silicon Valley YMCA encouraged my stationary bike regimen as guided by my orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist. This past May, a freak accident occurred at my work, resulting in fractures of my arm. My sister encouraged me along with several staff, including the lifeguard at the Ipswich YMCA to continue when possible my swimming regimen. In my opinion, the YMCA is a community of support that encourages you to persevere during life's difficulties. I have a long way to go. It's nice to know that I'm not alone on the journey to wellness.

Excellent water park and splash pad! So much fun for kids of all ages! The lifeguards are all friendly and helpful with the kids. There’s a rope to climb, and a swing obstacle across the water. There is a small area of deep water for older kids to swim. The slide is a huge hit! It’s well kept and clean. The bathrooms are pristine! There’s a nice sized family locker room.

My 8 year old daughter LOVED going to the Saturday morning basketball scrimmage program. It would be great if there was something like that for 3rd graders next year. 10am start time was perfect. Aubrey wished the program was still going on this past weekend. As a parent, committing to an hour every Saturday morning was so much easier than many other organized sports. The Ipswich Y may be smaller than some of the other YMCA locations, but it's friendly, clean and feels like a family. I enjoy working out in the mornings and have gotten to know many of the regular members as well as the staff. The workout room at the Ipswich Y is not clean and they have continued to "auto charge" the monthly fee for more than 2 months after I have canceled my membership - No response to repeated calls and requests to fix the problem.

We were asked to pay $15/person by the front desk, if we accompany our son inside the YMCA no matter what. We explained to the front desk that our son has youth YMCA membership and we don't need to pay for just watching him swim. But the explanation we got is funny - since we take one spot of area inside the YMCA, we need to pay. We are very disappointed in Ipswich Y and decides to cancel my son's membership.
