Since starting with Lean Force a little over a year ago, a number of things have changed. I feel better. I look better. I move around better. The various muscle and joint pains from getting older are all gone. I can play rough with my kids with no issues. I can do a weekend of yard work with no problem. The work out routines at Lean Force are practical and target all the right muscles so that you can improve how you do every day activities. I highly recommend Lean Force.

Lean Force Training provides a top-notch service. I’ve tried several personal trainers in the past but have always lost interest. Federico’s approach to training is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I highly recommend Lean Force. No matter where you are on your physical health journey, Federico and his team meet you where you are at and support you to meet your goals. I’m nearly halfway through the first phase, conditioning, and I already feel so much stronger and higher energy than I did about two months ago. My wife and I have been working with Lean Force Training for about 4 months and we are seeing great results! It is very affordable and they are incredibly gracious working around our difficult schedules.
Our trainer, Federico has been so patient in assessing our individual general fitness levels and creating specialized programs that fit both of our strengths (and weaknesses) so that we get to work out together even though we differ in abilities. His knowledge of the body and how it works is encyclopedic, he gives great advice and is always aware of form so that injuries do not occur.
Every session has gotten gradually harder, but in turn, we have become stronger. The training environment is a fun, open atmosphere. I mean talk about creating a community that supports and encourages each other, this gym should be the blue print. The physical gym itself is spotless and is obviously well planned out. The equipment provided is far superior to any equipment I’ve worked with in other gyms or small work out group.
Federico is an all-around amazing and effective trainer - I would recommend him to anyone wanting to get fit, lose weight, or add muscle. Whatever your ultimate goal is, he can get you there. Highly recommend giving Lean Force a try, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been training at Lean Force for 3 months now. I hadn’t set foot in a gym since high school sports and thought I might injure myself if I tried again on my own now that I’m in my 30s. My experience Lean Force has been above and beyond my expectations in every way. After some initial sessions with Federico for him to get to know my fitness level and goals, I’ve had sessions with three other trainers who are all excellent—professional, positive, and easy to work with. I have had a changing schedule in the last few months which is not ideal, but they have been very accommodating with scheduling. Trainers are diligent about tracking progress and are always looking to challenge you just the right amount. The initial conditioning plan rotates through different muscle groups perfectly. I’m also training for a marathon and strength training with Lean Force has been an important complement. I feel stronger and more confident for my longer runs since training at Lean Force. My wife and I both now train here, and I would recommend Lean Force to anyone as they are very client centered and supportive of each person’s personal fitness levels and goals. The gym itself is super clean and well maintained with the best equipment. Federico and his team embody the spirit of what fitness, movement and exercise should be! Lean Force has the best personal training in JP - I’ve trained with both Federico and Jacob and they’re both great, and Federico has a sliding scale that is super reasonable and equitable price-wise. I’ve been training here twice a week for 6 months and can see and feel the difference in my strength and endurance (and friends have commented how fit I look!).
They both do a great job of pushing me to do my best on each exercise (no pain no gain) while offering tailored feedback on correct form to avoid injury, and offer modifications when necessary (I have a previous arm injury and lower back pain, and they remember and accommodate this anytime they give me new exercises).
Highly recommend if you’re looking to revamp your workout routine and get personalized support.

I’ve been going to Lean Force since September 2024. I decided to take the leap because I was about to open a small business and I knew my health would take a back seat if I didn’t have two standing appointments a week with a personal trainer to guide me and hold me accountable.
Best decision I could have made for myself! My twice a week sessions help me get out of my head, release stress, and of course, build strength and fitness! I work a physical job and the training I do with Federico helps me build a solid foundation so I’m less likely to injure myself on the job.

I’ve been coming for 6-7 months and have been having a really positive experience. I’m so glad I found this place! My wife gifted me an introductory session plan, and honestly, I had never been to a gym or done any real exercise before — this was all completely new to me. Lean Force in Jamaica Plains, under the guidance of Federico, has been a true enabler for both me and my spouse. I really wanted to like Lean Force Training. The facility itself is decent, and the class structure seems organized on the surface. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by one major issue: the trainer's attitude.
There's a big difference between being tough and being discouraging. I came in excited and ready to work, but that enthusiasm didn't last long. From the very first session, I felt more criticized than coached. Corrections were delivered with a tone that felt less like guidance and more like condescension. At times, it honestly felt like the trainer was more interested in pointing out what I was doing wrong than helping me improve.
I get that some people thrive on the "no-nonsense" approach -- but there's a fine line between pushing someone and shutting them down. Several times, I left class feeling worse about myself than when I walked in, and that's not why I signed up.
A little empathy goes a long way, especially in a fitness environment where people are already vulnerable.
If you're looking for a place that emphasizes progress and encouragement, you might want to keep looking.

Members are of all ages and at all stages of their fitness journey, and you never feel like you don’t belong. The studio is deeply rooted in the neighborhood and gives you a real sense of community.
I've been training with Federico, and I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s incredibly professional, extremely knowledgeable, and always focused, sometimes even meticulous, when it comes to proper form and technique. I got severely weak and deconditioned due to a sedentary lifestyle and was seeking to regain strength and fitness. I tried on my own, looked at a couple gyms and was not too successful on my own or too enthused about some of the gyms I saw. Leanforce and the program Federico runs and oversees is totally different and has been perfect for me. The trainers are outstanding, they push you, support you and recognize where you are in your fitness journey.

I can’t recommend working with Federico enough! After dealing with lower back pain during pregnancy and after my unplanned C-section, even standing for 10 minutes would set off flare-ups, and lying flat in bed was uncomfortable. Sitting all day at my desk job made it worse. I knew I needed to strengthen my core, but I wasn’t sure how to start without hurting myself.
With Federico’s expert guidance, my back pain is completely gone, my posture has even improved, and I’ve been the strongest I’ve ever been. He’s not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also patient, encouraging, and attentive to my needs. First time trying a personal trainer and enjoying it a lot! I was going to a rowing studio for a few years regularly and then hurt myself. I'm generally very nonactive and don't have the best posture, so I thought to try a personal trainer in JP. I got in contact with Federico and we did a trial session. It's pricy compared to studio classes (there is a sliding scale), but health is wealth and Federico was so encouraging.
I like the exercises he chose (of course some you will hate but that's what makes you stronger), and I never feel like I am counting down the minutes. I've now at the halfway point in the first 40 session program and really enjoying it. I go 2x a week but Federico is very flexible if I need to cancel or switch days. The other trainers and clients at Lean Force are awesome as well.

We've worked with Federico as well as three other trainers at various points. All of them have been excellent. They challenge us, carefully explain proper form, and are sensitive to any injuries (both of us have had injuries that occurred outside training during this time). I joined Lean Force because I’ve been struggling to get back in shape after having two kids. I’ve never worked with a personal trainer and this was the best decision I’ve made. Last year, I had my first baby and my body became a complete wreck. Growing a human is no joke, and when I found myself struggling to lift my child, I knew I needed help to get in shape.
I was recommended Lean Force by a friend of mine, and started working with Frederico in February. It's only been a little over four months, but I am definitely getting much stronger! My physical endurance has also improved, and most importantly, I can keep up with my toddler.
As I told Frederico, my goal is to "get stronger faster than my baby gains weight". While there will come a time when I simply can't make that happen anymore (I'm not lifting a 100+ lb young woman decades from now), I can at least sweep my daughter off her feet for the next few years.
I also want to credit Lean Force for creating such a sweet, warm space for so many different people. We get all sorts in the studio, from former judges, professional musicians, athletes, scientists, high school kids etc.., all in different stages of fitness and life. We also have a LOT of people of color and LGBTQIA+ folks, which makes this space a truly JP institution. I really look forward to speaking with my fellow clients, and we cheer each other on when we can (especially on leg day).
If you're not sure if you should take the plunge, I recommend you do! You only have your health and new friends to gain.

I have been training at Lean Force since January 2023. I like the training philosophy: to first build the supporting muscles body-wide, then moving on develop specific muscle groups, and then, only after much time and careful preparation, working on power and the traditional muscle definition/tone. This method, combined with the expert coaching of Federico, allows one to achieve a balanced fitness and strength that assists in all aspects of everyday life. Federico is primarily focused on giving you the best workout possible, but there is also a friendly atmosphere amongst all the trainers and trainees. As a newish mom I cannot recommend Federico and Lean force enough! 1.5 years after having a child and Lean Force has been the only thing to finally get me back on track. He pushes me harder than I’d push myself, but never out of my comfort level. I’ve had some back problems over the years and have injured myself exercising in the past. Federico is very conscious in making sure I have good form. If there is something I can’t do correctly he’ll find an alternative way of achieving the same goal. The focused attention and Federico’s expertise have been amazing. The place also has a very nice vibe. Everyone is very friendly and there is a range of clients from 20s to 80s at all levels of fitness. I never feel out of place.

I'm a 72 your old active man with a chronic shoulder injury. I found Federico and Lean Force training while walking around my neighborhood in Jamaica plain. When I stopped in to talk I was impressed right away with his attention and concern with my fitness needs and shoulder issues. I'm now in the second batch of 20 fitness appointments at Lean Force, and I'm a very happy customer. My overall fitness has improved and I'm definitely stronger. Federico's attention and care has helped me to strengthen my upper body muscles without further damaging my shoulder, and as a result I can continue to play tennis with less risk of injury. The training process has been excellent.
In addition, it's a friendly place to be. The trainers make a point of introducing all of their clients to each other and everybody is on a first name basis. There's lots of mutual support without the competitiveness that occurs in some body-building gyms. It's also multigenerational, with clients from their teens into their '70s.

I am in my early 40's and while previously an athlete - in my younger years - after starting a family and a demanding career, I became overweight, lost my agility alongside the motivation to get back in shape, "the correct way". Enter LeanForce. The highly trained staff designed a custom workout routine to get me from the computer chair and back to being fit. In the early phase of my journey, what I have found impressive was the focus of the trainers to holistically CONDITION my body - session after session - to prevent unnecessary injuries, their ability to find my limits, motivate me to push up to my limits, all the while improving my physique. In addition, the staff create a highly enjoyable workout environment and are legitimately invested in their client's progress, which pushed me to take my workouts and lifestyle modifications seriously. I’ve been working with Federico for nearly six months and it’s been a great experience. I showed up after herniating a disc in my back and realizing I needed to add strength training to my routine after years of running, and not knowing where to even start. We quickly realized that I have a number of muscle imbalances that have contributed to issues over the years. In addition to gaining general strength, my back pain has significantly improved and my imbalances are improving. Federico is great at adapting each workout around little issues that crop up and making sure to correct my form to ensure the imbalances are getting addressed.
You do have to be patient with his scheduling system but at the same time he’s great at being flexible and working around real life conflicts that come up. Looking forward to many more sessions in the future.

Training at Lean Force is amazing. I'm a middle aged woman who is not in terrible shape, but not really good either. Federico is changing that quickly and after 20 sessions, I'm starting to feel really great, much stronger and healthier. I'm in the first phase right now, the conditioning phase. Sessions run 45 minutes to an hour each and each session focuses on one of four areas (arms, shoulders, chest & back, legs & glutes). One of the things I appreciate most is that Federico meets you where you're at -- nothing feels overly difficult and yet it's always challenging. A couple of years ago I had ankle surgery. Last summer I had extensive ligament reconstruction on my wrist with subsequent weakness and aches.I started training 2 days a week with Federico a couple of months ago to address my weaknesses and build strength.
My training sessions are always tailored to meet my specific needs. Federico clearly puts a lot of thought designing the sessions full of variety and emphasizes the importance of proper form for every move. In this short period I can see physical changes in my body. I have been working with Federico since August 2022, and am feeling much stronger and confident in my strength and cardio routine. For several years prior, I cobbled together my workouts, running and using apps to learn strength routines. But it was getting tiresome doing the same things over and over again without longer term goals to build toward. Federico clearly describes each phase of his training program so that I know where I am heading, how long it will take, and what comes after. He has helped me to find a really good cadence in my exercise, rotating muscle groups, introducing new exercises and stretches, and incorporating cardio on my own time. It’s my first time working with a trainer, and Federico has been amazing and has made the training experience enjoyable.
I have had back and hip issues for over 3 years and haven’t been much mobile and active. I was very hesitant to start the training as I am very cautious about any flare-ups or worsening of my health issues. The reason I started training was to gain my strength back. Being totally inactive and not mobile (not even begin able to walk few minutes), I have lost significant strength. Once I received okay from my postural therapist and doctor, to start strength training to help gain coordination between muscles and also strength, I reached out to Federico. He has been amazing with customizing all the sessions to accommodate my limitations and also to answer numerous questions I ask during each sessions.
I train with him twice a week (completed 20 sessions), and I have already started noticing difference not just in the strength, but also during day to day activity.

I came to Frederico with a year old injury of right shoulder. At first lesson I could only raise my right arm to 90 degrees due to severe shoulder pain. My limited range of right shoulder affected me in many aspects of daily living as well as woke me up ant night. Over the past year I tried physical therapy, acupuncture and light therapy- without any results.
I started training with Federico twice per week- typically spending one hour working with shoulders and another hour working with legs, however still addressing shoulder. Today, after only lesson 9, I can raise right arm 120 degrees, no longer have pain at night and am able to do many more activities of daily living w my right arm.

Not one of them could help me reach my objective. Lean Force's staff has a working knowledge of everything that's being done which helped miraculously.
My left elbow is completely made of titanium and as a result, I have a dominant side in my body. My objective was to balance all my muscles and overall, build more muscle and lose some of my belly fat. I am currently 20 sessions in and have already reached 50% of my goal. Additionally, my mental health has been MUCH better since I began training at Lean Force. I have a side hustle in Boston as a musician, and my pre-show nerves are in much better control now.
We measured my muscle and fat mass to track progress and are making a note of it every couple of sessions, which is undeniable proof that our training regimen is working. No trainer I worked with in the past did this. When I pointed out the lack of results, they'd attribute it to things like my atypical muscular case, or my atypical diet.
Another major reason I go to Lean Force is the trainer, Federico himself. He is highly educated, compassionate, patient and a huge source of motivation! He made me a personalized training plan and has absolutely no reservations in taking the extra time I sometimes need. He makes sure to do things in a way so there is never an injury or even strain on muscles. Completed more than 2 months of conditioning phase with Federico and I can see the results already. I have lost 8 pounds of fat while gaining strength and muscle. Federico of Lean Force Training is no doubt the BEST. Highly recommended for people seeking effective fitness results.
Having trained myself during the past 2 years but always getting pains, I gave up the self-training several times. In the sequel, the self-training had NO improvement at all.
To avoid the same errornous path, I decided to go with a professional trainer. At the first session, Federico explained to me the sources of my past failures: incorrect postures and muscle imbalance. Soon he tailored for me a training plan, which not only teaches correct strengthening postures to prevent from injuries but also suggests a healthier life style to concordantly benefit the muscle strengthening. Further, he brings knowledge in anatomy and other fields (e.g., yoga) to augment the muscle buildup. Just spending more than few weeks with Federico, I have seen positive body transformation. My health is moving towards the right direction.

I did not understand the benefits of having a personal trainer until I started training with Federico. With his guidance, I have learned several exercises and approaches for training the different muscle systems, and have learned to train using proper form. Federico is an excellent teacher who is truly passionate about his craft, and who has the experience and knowledge to help you reach your fitness goals. I highly recommend him.

I think Frederico did an amazing job at increasing my flexibility and strenght during our training sessions. His workouts where very specific to your baseline level and goals. I also appreciated that he would explain why the exercises were being done. Overall, excellent experience, I wish I could live in Boston longer to work with him more.

Federico of Lean Force Training is an excellent coach. Training with him has improved my overall fitness. His method of training is methodical, engaging, and has helped me get stronger. I saw visible results on my body after a few sessions. I also very much appreciate the convenience given my busy schedule: he is coming to the gym in my building, and he was also accomodating to couple me up with another lady from the building to get a better deal. Federico is very professional, knowledgeable, patient and his attention to detail is impressive. He makes sure that you do the exercises appropriately and that you use the correct muscles in order to avoid injury. I had surgery in my arms a few years ago and I was concerned about exercising but he helped me and gave me the right exercises to gain strength and feel better.

I have just started training with Lean Force and I am very impressed with the level of training the customization, the collaboration level and the results. Lean Force techniques are based on scientific research and the trainers always explain the science and methodology behind each exercise. They customize each exercise to where you are.
