LSSOD is an amazing studio with the best and most supportive teachers ever! I started dancing here when there was the merge between Lorraine Spada’s and Debi’s Dance Studio and it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. I have made so many new friends through this studio and I am truly grateful. The studio has fostered my love of dance and helped me to grow as a person and a dancer. I have been given amazing opportunities by going here including being able to run an adaptive dance class. I have 2 teenage daughters at Legacy and they both love it. We joined Legacy 5 years ago after our previous studio closed, and what we joined was more than a studio, it was a family! My girls have grown as dancers and as people. They have a support system at Legacy like none other. The studio is their safe place. The teachers at Legacy go above and beyond what is expected, often taking time away from their own families on extra nights and weekends. I have had a child at LSSOD since there was a Ms. Lorraine. I have watched the studio grow from a one room studio above a laundry mat into the dynamic space it is today. It has been a place that has nurtured my daughter’s love of dance/performance and allowed her to grow as a dancer and technician. It has given her another family who celebrate her victories, support her endeavors, comfort her when she is down and have never failed to show up for her time and time again in both in and out of the studio. Legacy Studios had been her home base these past 15 years, a safe space where she can always be herself. Legacy studios has been a safe space for my sons to explore dance and to gain confidence while having fun with their friends. As much as my children have learned about dance at LSSOD, they have learned more about being good citizens and role models. There are movie nights, Halloween/holiday parties, and theme weeks for the whole studio to take partake in. Emphasis is put on giving back to the community in raising money for cancer research thru performances, community events, or even just entertaining a local assisted living community with dance. These dancers are taught that their talents can bring so much more to the world than scores at a dance competition. Legacy does regular outreach in the community by teaching recreational dance classes, adult dance classes, supporting school fundraisers, and local high school performing arts. I have personally known the owner/studio director, Chrissy Bowman, for the last decade and know that there is no one more invested in the success and wellbeing of her dancers. Her office is always open to them and she is always rooting for them. The instructors and the studio directors worked tirelessly during the pandemic to keep the kids engaged, from remote classes/zoom nights in Spring of 2020 to a safe return to in-person dance last over the last 2 years with their focus on what was best for the health/mental health of their students. Legacy Studios School of Dance is not just a dance studio, it’s a home and we are family.

Being injured for a few years and not being able to dance, I realized how much everyone meant to me because they still allowed me to be apart of the family. I have danced at LSSOD for 15 years and this studio has been such a big part of my life. I was able to feel comfortable dancing with my best friends around me supporting me the entire time. I met friends that I will have for a lifetime and created memories that I will absolutely never forgot. My tiny dancer had an amazing first season at Legacy Studios School of Dance! We live outside of Wilmington and chose this studio for its long standing history in the community I grew up in. She cannot wait to return to dance this upcoming season.

The teachers and directors go above and beyond to get to know the students. I love that they have older dancers assist in preschool level classes, such a great sense of community!

For the past 14 years, I have watched my friend’s daughter grow not only as a dancer, but as a person. Chrissy and the other teachers at Legacy, helped her find her passion for dance and musical theater, even letting her continue to compete solos in musical theater when they knew she wouldn’t bring in the same scores as other styles. It mattered to them that she become the best version of her, not that their studio win the most awards. It wasn’t always easy, but she knew she had the support of her studio and family and she learned a lot from these experiences. Now, as she starts her senior year and last dance season, the confidence she has in herself is more than evident than ever. I’ve loved watching her grow in all the ways and I’m so excited to see what next for her.
PS. I’ve also taken adult tap classes at Legacy and loved it! I was previously a tap dancer whose body couldn’t handle it at the same level as I used to, so the classes were a little on the easier side for me, but they were willing to adapt by adding speed or extra tap sounds. But honestly, it was just plain fun and that’s what I was looking for.

My daughter has been attending the newly named Legacy Studios School of Dance for 10 years. We live outside of Wilmington and could choose a studio closer to home but we love everything about this studio! The director and teachers care so much about the students and their families as well. The environment feels like one big family. Each student is appreciated and challenged on an individual basis and also in a group setting. This is a great dance school. My daughter just finished her 10th year there. Chrissy is a very present owner. This isn't just a business for her. She truly cares about each dancer and just like she expects the best from the teachers, she expects the kids to give their best effort. If I had a question or concern I always felt like I was listened to and the response was fair. Recitals are extremely organized. There are no large gaps between numbers. It moves right along and is a very enjoyable experience. One of the things I Iove most about this school is that students of ALL abilities, experience level, shapes and sizes are welcome.
