This is our second year at NEDA and we are so impressed by how everything is run here - the teachers are so warm and engaging, communication is awesome and the recitals are UNbelievable! I stumbled upon NEDA by accident! I Googled dance classes for two year old and they had the best reviews! We actually drive 35 minutes to get here! I cannot say enough good things! We found NEDA because we were looking for a non-commitment 6 week class to try out dance for my (then) 3 year old, not knowing if she would like it or not. We have stayed because my daughter has fell in love with dance and NEDA. We’re now at year 5 of full-year classes (year 6 if you count that first year of 6 week classes), and my daughter is already talking about what classes she wants to take next year. Ms. Stephanie & Ms. Tina are so warm and inviting every time I drop off, always willing to offer help or support, and know my child by name. All the instructors have been amazing, but my daughter has especially loved taking classes with Ms. Erin, Ms. Gwen and Mr. Jesse - they have helped her gain new skills, and specifically more self confidence. I highly recommend NEDA for their staff, structure, the endless variety classes and for them fostering that feeling like your “part of the NEDA family” even if not on the dance team track!

We absolutely love New England Dance Academy! Our daughter started last year in the ballet/acrobatics class when she was just 3 and had such a wonderful experience that we enrolled her again this year for hip hop/acrobatics. New England Dance Academy is the best school around. I danced there from September 1994 until June 2001 (6th grade-HS graduation). I took one class each year and helped out back stage. I then took an adult class in 2022-2023. I never had the owner, Stephanie, as a teacher but after 20+ years she still remembered me and welcomed us back with open arms when I signed my daughter up, this year, for her first class. Miss Judy is wonderful with the preschoolers. She welcomes them with open arms, dries their tears (it can be hard for two year olds to leave their parents), and engages them in age appropriate movement and fun! This school has grown so much over the years but you still feel cared for, encouraged, and never like you are just a number. Whether you take one class or you are on the team you will love your time at NEDA!!

My daughter has now been with NEDA going on our 5th year and my other daughter is on her second year. We are SO happy to be a part of the NEDA NATION and plan to be here for the long haul! My girls look forward to dance class all week and have made some of their best friends at dance class. There is so much positivity throughout the studio, not just from the teachers and staff but from the dancers between one another. There is great communication between parents and staff.
Over the past 5 years I've watched my shy little girl turn into a confident "tiny tapper". **When people ask me why we chose NEDA and continue to stay: it's the joy that dance class brings my girls, the bond and trust they have with their instructors, and the friendships they've made even at such a young age and you cannot put a price on the experience.

We started at NEDA last year when my daughter had just turned 2. She took ballet/acro with Miss Judy and LOVED it. I was blown away at the progress she made over the few short months of classes. She came out of her shell and overall participation improved week by week. She did fantastic on recital day and asked me all summer when she could go back to dance class. We loved class with miss Judy so much that this season we signed up for 2 classes with her. Our Saturday mornings with Miss Judy and Miss Danielle were so much fun! I loved how excited my daughter was after class, she continued to improve overall especially with participation. My daughter is a very "strong willed" little girl and can be difficult to keep focused and engaged but I never got a negative report or felt like my shy, "assertive" little girl was not being taught with care and compassion, in fact I feel all of her teachers embraced who she is and worked with her. There is no other studio I would take my daughter to! We left our former dance studio for NEDA three years ago because our daughters were looking to be challenged and improve their dance skills. While this was a big decision for them, all it took was one class for us to recognize the NEDA difference and to know that we had made the right choice! The quality of instruction provided to dancers is certainly unlike any other, and over the past three years, words can not describe the tremendous amount of growth and improvement they have each shown! I have never seen them so goal-orientated and driven which, not only will serve them well throughout their entire lives, but is a huge testament to the hard work and dedication of their teachers who motivate them and truly love what they do. My 3-year-old daughter has been in Miss Jeanna’s Ballet/Acrobatics/Creative Movement class for ages 2–3 since September 2024, and we couldn’t be happier. Jeanna is incredible with the kids — patient, fun, and full of positive energy. She creates a joyful, supportive environment where even the littlest dancers feel confident and excited to learn.

As a first-time mom, I had no idea what to expect, but Jeanna and the rest of the NEDA crew has been so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way. Jeanna's not only great with the kids, but she also takes the time to make parents feel informed and included. Her student assistant is also wonderful and amazing with the kids.

Both of my girls have had Miss Gwen as a teacher for the last 3 years. I have watched both my girls evolve as dancers under the instruction of Miss Gwen, particularly my youngest who practices her tap routine EVERYWHERE (the bathroom, the store, church). New England Dance Academy has been such a positive influence in our lives that people often joke that we must be getting paid to rave about them. The truth is, the experience has been so incredible that I've referred friends and family, who have also enrolled their children at NEDA and are now raving about it too.

My daughter's journey at NEDA began at the age of 2 with Miss Judy. Her patience, love, and care made my little girl fall in love with Saturday morning dance classes. While my daughter already had a passion for dance and music, Miss Judy nurtured and expanded that passion.

Fast forward to today, my daughter is in her fourth year at NEDA and the growth she has shown as a dancer and performer is simply incredible. We chose NEDA because of the exceptional teachers who genuinely love what they do. Their dedication to the children is evident every time I drop my daughter off.

During last year's recital, my daughter looked at me after the final performance with the older dancers and said, "Mom, when I grow up, I want to dance just like those girls because they are amazing." My daughter started at NEDA last year at 4 years old a bit nervous not knowing what to expect. Through the whole year it was extremely easy to communicate with all staff every step of the way. She felt comfortable and happy to be part of a group that had so much fun each week but also worked hard to improve her stretches and skills. Being our first recital we were nervous about it but there was no need to be! With all the great support from teachers and staff and email communications it was all so carefree and easy. My large family who all wanted to see her 1st performance got the first few front rows up close, it was all so exciting! Olivia always had the biggest smile on her face every Thursday with her musical theater class with Miss Erin after class when she would greet me at the door to pick her up. This year she is enrolled in 2 classes on Monday and Thursday with Miss Gwen, who she absolutely loves, and we cannot wait to see this year's costume choices and performances! Parents, there are so many class choices and times available to work with all schedules, everybody is fantastic! Thank you all for working so hard to bring so much joy to my daughter.

We are on our 3.5year with NEDA. We started in a short 6 or 8 week program because my daughter was like 3 and I wanted to ensure she could handle a class without being able to see me. It’s been a lovely ride. At 6, she’s excited about getting a 5-year award once she gets there.

We are a family that drives 40-60 minutes for NEDA’s classes. It’s a super commitment for us and our classes are on the weekend which means there’s opportunity cost with choosing dance. My logic as a parent is if I’m paying AND dedicating my travel time, I want to see progress. I want to see intention, organization and technique. My daughter will have her back handspring by Christmas. She told another mom “If your daughter went to NEDA, she’d be flipping already”. The best thing about the recitals is seeing the different levels of students. It’s the real deal at NEDA.

No school is perfect. I think NEDA is still finding the happy balance between nurturing dancers and training competition dancers. Sometimes those don’t overlap. They are a winning team so naturally, there’s a little bit of an expedition to nurture that type of dancer. One thing is for sure, the training is there. You will see what you have invested blossom in the short term. (And it feels amazing! I don’t want to trivialize it. My family LOVES recitals) Behind the classes… They’re organized. Emails get answered FAST. You can always call. They’re responsive. You can pull anyone to the side if you have a concern. There’s a weekly newsletter. They often over communicate LOL but it’s way better than having to scramble because of no communication. It is EASY. They set expectations and they follow through. For busy parents, it’s a system that functions like a well oiled machine.

Last but not least, the kids are happy here. Miss Judy! All Littles should start with her. She is like a ray of sunshine. She will love on and support your little child in a way that won’t have you nervous when they say “no parents allowed” during rehearsal.

We love it here. If you’re on the fence you should come… it’s better here, period. That can’t be their tagline but as a parent, I can say it. “Come to NEDA. It better here” hahaha. ❤️

We switched New England Dance Academy this year as my son wanted to try breakdance. He had never done dance before and since my daughter didn't have any friends doing her previous school anymore, we brought her over to make for one recital. I've been to recitals for siblings growing up, nieces and two for my daughter and it's never been enjoyable for my personal liking. I go to support and I'm happy to do it. I share this because the NEDA recital was different. It wasn't a recital, it was a performance! I enjoyed some of the dances so much at my daughters 11:00am show that I actually looked forward to seeing them at 6:30. Particularly, the Twilight dance was my personal favorite. We planned to leave after my sons performance in the evening show, but we enjoyed the finale so much earlier, we chose to stay and see it again. Highly highly recommend NEDA!

Saturday dance class was the first non-parent attended activity my 2.5year old participated in and we were both nervous! We went to open house and met Miss Judy and all our fears quickly subsided! Miss Judy has the most comforting presence and her love for her job and students is so apparent!! Gabby looked forward to every weekend and regularly asked if “it’s time to see Miss Judy today?!” She just finished her first recital dance and immediately asked if she could do it again. My daughters have now been a part of the New England Dance Academy family for 9 seasons. This is the 4th season dancing competitively on the team. We stumbled across NEDA when we first moved to Massachusetts 9 years ago. My daughters had never danced and I was looking for an activity to put my oldest daughter in. One of the first friends she had from school went to NEDA so I said "why not". Never did I imagine that 9 years later, not only would both my girls LOVE dance, but I would love watching them dance and we would have a whole extended family at NEDA. The level of instruction that NEDA provides to ALL dancers is unmatched. We just started at NEDA this fall. My sisters and I all grew up dancing competitively it was our life! Although, my sister just opened a dance studio a couple years ago when it came time for Lyla to start dancing I made a bold decision to switch her to NEDA! Having done some research and observation of their choreography and family like atmosphere I just felt this was a better fit for my three year old who definitely shares the same passion for dance that I do! We have only been here since September and I very impressed and completely confident that this is the Studio for us! Missy is always so welcoming, and truly sets a family all inclusive vibe. They have a diverse group of Dance experts/artists, some of which I remember from competitions when I was a child.
I could go on and on but I genuinely recommend NEDA to anyone especially someone looking for something more than just a dance class. I have noticed they encourage academics and all around character building with every age. Yes, of course how skilled the students are and how brilliant the teachers choreography was is what caught my eye but it was the energy, the standard they set for the students to be more than good dancer, to be good people. I just love everything this studio represents and I am so happy we found it! My daughter just turned three and

My 2 1/2 year old took classes here for a few months. They told me every week from September to December how well she was doing and she generally enjoyed going. I had a new baby in November and we moved my daughter was going threw a-lot of changes and was getting distracted easier then usual after them telling me weekly for 4 months she was doing good they told me she was no longer ready for classes and they were unwilling to work with my 2 year old for getting distracted if your child is a kid that gets distracted has any type or learning disability or behavior issues this is not the school for you.

We Finally found our "Dance Home!" After trying a few different studios when my daughter was younger, we came upon NEDA, and I am so glad we did! My girls had danced previously and being a dancer myself choosing the “right” studio when having to make a switch was high on my list of priorities. We chose NEDA because of their high reputation within the community and their visible commitment to technical excellence. While we were not looking for a recreational studio since my girls are interested in competitive dance, I can’t recommend this studio enough for either recreational dance classes and competitive dance. It’s everything you are looking for in one package. Most studios cannot say that they are great at both but NEDA is!! My girls get the same amount of excellent training no matter what class they are in. My daughter is entering her third year at New England Dance Academy. We were formerly at another studio but felt that she was not progressing as she should have been. In our three years at NEDA she has improved so much. The instructors want the best for your child and set the bar high; in doing so important lessons of teamwork and accountability are learned. The studio is very well run despite its large size. Management is there to help with any concerns. The dance instructors get to know your child very well not just from the perspective of dance but also on a personal level. They care. Anyone interested in a quality dance education should give NEDA a try.

My daughter is attending her 3rd year at NEDA and we absolutely love them! Although it is a large facility they are extremely accessible and very accommodating to each student as an individual. One of the things I love about NEDA is how many options they have for types of classes as well as time slots available! My daughter started at age 4 and it can be scary seeing your little ones do new things with out us holding their hands, but the first year backstage I saw the closeness these girls have. The older girls greeted my daughter by her first name and made sure she and the other little ones had someone with them and helped them through the special moment on stage and behind the curtain! NEDA is known for their dancers achievements and being an amazing school! The staff has always been super helpful as you learn the ropes if your a new dance grown up!! I 100% recommend giving them a chance!
Also they send out a packet when it comes time for the recitals with all information needed. Times, location, tickets. It’s a little overwhelming the first year if you have never done it before but it super easy to reach out to them. They also have parent nights where you can watch the progress of your child’s class. All correspondence is via email. :)

This is our first experience at NEDA. My daughter started with a trial class and there was some lack of communication and direction at first. I also wasn’t very happy with a comment my daughter told me the instructor said at the first class. Once I reached out via email, NEDA was quick to respond and also sent a welcome packet. Our daughter has absolutely loved her experience at NEDA! In the 18 months she has been a student there she has taken multiple classes in different dance disciplines and thrived. The spring show/recital put on by the staff and students is in a beautiful theater and has a professional feel to it. As parents we couldn't be happier we chose NEDA for out daughter!

We couldn’t be happier with our NEDA experience. Our shy and timid daughter has completely come out of her shell this past year and has learned so many new things. The instructors encourage even from a young age to be confident and empowered and show your skills. Everyone is so easy to communicate with and knowledgeable of what routes are best for your child. We can’t wait to sign up for more classes this fall!

TERRIBLE!!! Where do I begin... My child had taken classes for months preparing for the recital. We spent allot of money to make that happen. Leading to the actual recital, instructions for the actual day were the most shameful emails and showed the company's complete lack of personalization and ability to provide proper guidance to new families. We were all given a mass email with a cluster of information. They did not give us a map or any other help for anyone not from the area regarding logistics and parking. None of which was descriptive enough to have prepared us for the day of the recital. I have never once met the teacher that my child worked with every week for months. There was absolutely no contact from them or a chance to see my child dance during practice. On the day of the performance, we watched so many families get turned away because they did not have cash on them at the box office. NEDA never put out that the only way to get tickets, was to have cash. When purchasing our tickets we were forced to pay for our child who was in the recital. We were floored because of all the money we spent for them to put him in the performance and they charged us again!!! NEDA never told us what to expect. There was mention of a lottery, but absolutely no description suitable for someone who has never done this before. I had no idea what they were talking about in another one of those poor excuses of an informational email. After purchasing our tickets we realized that we were placed in wheelchair seating.. meaning there was no chair. After all of that, I was expected to stand for 2+ hours, while pregnant, because I was given a ticket without a chair in it. You get what you get, philosophy?!? When it was my child's turn to perform, there was no guidance what to do if our child was to go on stage during intermission. I had no idea how to get them off the stage either. These instructions were not shared during the cattle call of lineups in previous messages. When I went back to find my child, a snappy NEDA lady spoke to me like I was a moron because I didn't know what we were supposed to do. There was no instruction and it was the biggest fire hazard I have ever seen. If this is their chosen profession, they cannot possibly take the dancers safety seriously. It is all for money. If there was ever a fire, no one backstage would be safe. They pack everyone in and out like sardines and let pushy parents cut children off from other parents. I was so disgusted with how the whole establishment operated. Some parents thought they were above theater etiquette, and others clearly thought they were above other families. NEDA did nothing to regulate the flow of traffic backstage. Staff sat by with thier heads on thier phones while dozens of families tried squeezing through the tiny doorway. My child will never go back there again and I am more than determined to share our experience with various factions.

I brought my daughter back to NEDA the moment she turned old enough to attend!! As a former NEDA competitive dancer, I honestly couldn't find a studio that rivaled the heart and soul of this dance company. Stephanie and her team have always been a creative powerhouse but what is most striking and important as a parent is the love, attention, acceptance, and willingness of all the staff involved. Miss Judy swooped in and cared for all her "ladies" as if they were her own and to have a group of just-turned-three-year-olds performing on stage at a venue like the VETS in Providence with CONFIDENCE is unreal. This dance studio is something special. There's a reason Stephanie has a group of 30 NEDA veteran/alum dancers now bringing their little ones for the experience.

NEDA is the definition of amazing!! I couldn't be more happy with their professionalism, skill set and most importantly, their ability to allow any kiddo (neurotypical or not) an opportunity to grow and be the best that they can be ❤️ Getting my child to dance week to week and then accomplish and execute a recital, is no easy task. Both of my daughters danced at NEDA and their experience was more than we ever hoped for.
The teachers, in addition to be caring, kind, friendly, upbeat and fun; take the time to thoughtfully plan their classes, develop progressions based on each student’s individual ability level and provide a safe and supportive environment. Every dancer is included, every dancer is important. Students may enjoy dance on a recreational level or push themselves to dance at more advanced College and or professional levels.
The friendships my daughters have formed at the school have become their lifelong best friends and their teachers became second parents, providing life lessons that transfer easily, from dance to school to their professional careers today.
If I had to do it over again, I would in a heartbeat. Best decision I ever made!!

I joined the NEDA family when they first opened doors 32 years ago and spent 16 years at this amazing studio. Along with learning different styles of dance, I met some of the most wonderful friends and instructors who I am still in contact with today. When my daughter wanted to join dance there was no question that we would have her go to NEDA. They have shown year after year what an incredible studio they are and set themselves apart from all the others. We could not be happier with our experience at New England Dance Academy. The quality of the dance instruction is phenomenal. The teachers are caring, top notch professionals who love what they do. The way that NEDA “never stopped dancing” during the pandemic was amazing! I cannot say enough about NEDA!! Stephanie is simply amazing, as are all the teachers. They all are passionate about their craft and care for each and every student. The school is more than a dance studio, it is a community. From day 1, you are family! My niece has been attending for nearly 15 years and my daughter just finished her 4th year. I cannot imagine sending her anywhere else. Even moving 45 minutes away, couldn't keep us away. The quality of instruction and performances are second to none. On a scale of 1-10, they are an 11. My daughter is the youngest dancer, starting dance just a week after her second birthday, and the NEDA staff and experience has been more than we could have hoped for. We have been at NEDA for 3 years and it is the best dance studio in Massachusetts! Not only does Stephanie Kemp know how to run a business but she and all of the faculty care about every dancer and their growth. At NEDA you are not just learning how to dance but your child will learn responsibility and perseverance, very important skills for succeeding in life. Best dance education around! My daughter is In her 4th year and couldn’t be happier! Not sure why we didn’t make the move from her other studio sooner...the NEDA staff is professional, patient, and truly second to none!!

UPDATED:: I had to come back to this, as this review was posted over a year ago. Fast forward through the worst of COVID...

I cannot say enough about New England Dance Academy. The protocols put in place to ensure the kids were able to safely continue doing what they love never wavered. From ventilation, the addition of bathrooms, temperature checks, sanitation stations, and enforcement of social distancing, there was never a moment of concern as a parent.

As restrictions have lessoned, NEDA has adapted quickly and safely - always considering the feelings of students/parents. Safety first.

The past months have been as "normal" as it could be in a very unprecedented time. We can't wait to continue getting closer to what it was like before - but thank NEDA from the bottom of our hearts for going above and beyond to keep our daughter (and all dancers) from missing a beat! BEST OF THE BEST!!

NEDA has been an incredible experience for my two daughters! I highly recommend NEDA to every mother out there. My now 23 year old graduated from NEDA after 15 years of dancing and my youngest is now going into her seventh year with NEDA - she is 12 years old. The confidence and pride I've seen them both develop from dance and the role modeling of the instructors at NEDA has been really amazing to watch.

What's incredible is NEDA did not miss a beat all through COVID. The way Stephanie and her team mobilized to put the safety of the dancers first, while not letting COVID stop dance should truly be an inspiration to every small business owner. It really took a lot of courage, hard work and creativity. NEDA took a unprecedented pandemic and applied their safety resources - literally building additional bathrooms, Stephanie leveraging her husband's help as an expert in the sanitation business and her team's creativity - to make dance in 2020 and the VERY CREATIVE approach to the 2020 Dance Recital a GREAT memory for my daughter and all of us! This is one of the very few great memories our family had from 2020. We are so grateful to Stephanie and the NEDA Team. In my opinion, there is no where better you can take you child to learn the art of dance.

My 2 year old daughter just started dance at NEDA this past fall. I was hesitant at first to start her in dance during Covid times, but NEDA's health and safety standards have been wonderful. She loves coming to dance class each week and is so proud to show us what she's learning. We can't wait to see her continue to learn and grow at NEDA over the coming years.
