A Fantastic Collaboration with Orangetheory Fitness Assembly Row!
We had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Orangetheory Fitness Assembly Row during their recent Dri-Tri event to provide complimentary posture screeningsβand we couldnβt be more impressed!
From start to finish, the staff was incredibly welcoming, organized, and passionate about creating a top-notch experience for their members. The energy in the studio was awesome, and it was clear that the entire OTF community is driven, supportive, and committed to health and fitness.
A big thank you to the coaches and management for making us feel like part of the team. We had amazing conversations with members who were eager to learn more about posture, spinal health, and performanceβan inspiring reflection of the wellness culture Orangetheory fosters every day.
Weβre proud to support such a dedicated fitness community and look forward to future collaborations!

The staff and coaches are awesome at this studio-keeping the entire class energized and motivated the whole time. This studio is super conveniently located with free parking in Assembly Row. The workout keeps me coming back for more each time and I have been going consistently for over 3 years now and never get tired of it!

The facility isnβt the cleanest especially the showers. There is always a problem with their plumbing. The staff isnβt diverse. They donβt provide feedback often . Most people arenβt using the correct form. There is one or two good trainers. The staff isnβt diverse as well and could use some training on customer service. Once BeyoncΓ© came on and a trainer said the only female of color. You look like a BeyoncΓ© fan! Yikes! The female looked beyond uncomfortable. She then doubled down on it and said come on I know you listen to BeyoncΓ©.

I joined orange theory two months back. On my second day I bought hart rate monitor with them for $130 but, it was defective. I told them almost every day they gave me the loner for each class but they never give me My money back or the new band. Now I canceled my membership already still I call them about my hart rate monitor they always tell me that they will call back after talking to their manager but I never got the call back. It is really frustrating they sell cheap quality product for that kind of price when itβs defective they donβt wanna take any kind of action.

Iβve been to OrangeTheory before but this was my first time visiting the Somerville location. My girlfriend, a long-time member, brought me along. I was familiar with the workout and equipment, and had all my paperwork ready. However, due to traffic, we arrived a few minutes late. Despite my prior experience with OrangeTheory, I was told I couldnβt join the class because I was new to this particular location. It seemed that this policy applied only to me, as my girlfriend was also new to this location. We were really looking forward to the class, so we were disappointed by the experience. Unfortunately, because of this, we wonβt be coming back to this location.

Iβve been an OrangeTheory member for over 5 years and recently brought my boyfriend to the Somerville location for the first time. Although he is familiar with OrangeTheory workouts and equipment from his previous visit to the Brighton location, and had his paperwork ready, we arrived a few minutes late due to traffic. Despite his prior experience with OrangeTheory, he was denied entry because he was new to this specific location. This policy seemed to apply only to him, as I was also new to this location. We were genuinely looking forward to the class and were disappointed by the experience. Unfortunately, due to this, we will not be returning to this location.

I used OTF all over the country for over a year and loved it, but this is the studio that made me cancel my membership. The studio is dirty, crowded, and the coaching staff is the worst I've experienced in the 10+ studios I've visited. At one point, the head coach told the group to "figure it out" because she "couldn't explain it any more" and we were "taking years off her life." She berated an older woman for not doing the finisher and doing a different exercise instead. The coaches do not explain the exercises well at all, do not correct anyone when they are doing them incorrectly, and can't even keep time that well (basically the only thing they are needed for at this studio since they are not coaching on exercises). Their head coach choice made me laugh out loud when they announced it because of how much I despised going to her classes. I left feeling defeated, angry, and belittled. It's obvious that this studio is held the lowest of low standards compared to other studios I've visited.

As someone who is moderately active and has previous exercise experience, I enjoyed the challenge of Orange theory workouts. They also had good music, good parking options and a studio that is pretty big. I would not recommend though to beginners as, in some classes, trainers would not fully demonstrate the workouts that you are being asked to do and I saw a good amount of people doing the workouts wrong and not being corrected by trainers. This studio also is very full, so you have to book classes many days in advance to come take a class. Also, because of the large amount of people that go, it makes it even harder for beginners to be corrected on form when doing workouts. While I enjoyed Orange theory, I recommend a smaller studio is youβre a beginner (Saugus is great). If you know what youβre doing and want to be motivated by seeing other active people hit some high workout goals, this may be your place.

I was visiting from out of town and had a great experience visiting OTF at Assembly Row on two separate occasions. In addition to the friendly and welcoming front desk and great coaches, I particularly love the layout of this studio, with a longer corridor that houses 3 (yes, 3) showers and the lockers all the way at the end of the corridor right next to the studio itself. It feels more secure than other OTF studios I've been to, and the workout stations are also well arranged without feeling cramped. One note - bring your own locks because their lockers don't have built-in ones.
If I find myself visiting Boston again in the future, this will always be my studio of choice to get in my OTF workout!

Pros: They get two stars for nice staff.
Cons:
- 30-day money-back guarantee is bogus. Don't sign up lightly because they'll make you fight to get your money back. Also, there is no cancellation option on the website or the app - you need to ask for a cancellation form and then you'll still get charged for any payments scheduled in the next 30 days! Feels like this company is trying to sneak a few accidental payments out of you, but that is a different rant.
- This location is BUSY - get ready to work out at times other than the ones that are convenient or planned
- They fail to mention that you need to buy their branded heart-rate monitor to participate in the classes, and no your own device will not substitute.
- My girlfriend got simultaneous strep throat AND covid-19 from one of the classes! When she was out of commission for almost a full month they wouldn't give her a refund
So if you want an intense workout class, sure, this place is fine. But get ready for an over-priced experience where you just feel like a faceless customer

Orange Theory's standout is its stellar shower facilities, a welcome retreat after their brutal workouts. The competitive edge with "splat points" adds excitement, but the structured workouts may eventually grow monotonous. In a nutshell, excellent showers, challenging workouts, but potential for workout fatigue over time.

Good workout, nice facility, but of the 3 OTF studios Iβve tried in my area, this was my least favorite! The staff isnβt welcoming. They donβt make eye contact or greet you when you come in. They donβt take questions well, I felt as if I was putting them out by asking simple questions... I.e. where can I fill my water bottle, can you confirm my monitor is online, etc. The coach was especially cold. She went through set instructions WAY to quickly, seemed very bothered when I asked for follow-up (all but rolled her eyes at me), and just wasnβt motivating or friendly.
Iβve had some really nice experiences as a new OTF member, but Somerville was NOT one of them.

OrangeTheory member for 4+ years now. Two years at this location and previously a member at another location. The Assembly Row coaches are not as motivating and personable as coaches at other locations I was a member of. Most classes are also 3G at Assembly location despite not being full enough for a true 3G class on a regular basis. This is extremely frustrating as a member who joined years ago based on the original 2G group classes... Other locations have significantly more 2G classes than Assembly. Iβve also not been allowed in with their new β5 minute lateβ policy, yet Iβve been in class when people have come in 10 minutes late. I love OTF, but this location is far from the best.

I want to start by saying I think fitness classes are generally kind of stupid and unnecessary. With a basic gym you should have everything you need to increase your fitness. ...but I've had such a hard time dragging myself to the big box gym right next to my house.
OrangeTheory looks like a bunch of overpriced hype from the outside. My fiance started doing it and convinced me that it was fun and the workout was brutal. I used to go to a crossfit gym which I liked, but it's crazy expensive and hard to get good at unless you go most days which isn't practical for me currently. I love the heart rate monitor and the screen, though I think it doesn't work perfectly all the time. The treadmills are the 2nd best I've ever run on (bulging discs in my back) second only to the TruForm runner you would find at a crossfit gym. The instructors have all been really positive without being annoying and intrusive. The people who work at the desk are very pleasant and try to be as helpful as possible. Occasionally there are issues with the tech, mostly the app, but the website always works. I LOVE that rowers and treadmills always take up a bulk of the time because those exercises are unmatched.
I only write reviews unless something is absolutely horrid or fantastic. OTF in somerville has been the latter. I'm legitimately excited to exercise again.
However - don't really buy the calorie number that's given to you at the end. It's based on a measure that's pretty well studied but measuring metabolism is debated in the literature. Regardless - it's a super consistent way to make sure you're working hard and pushing yourself. I love that. Can't ask for anything better.
The negative reviews on here are kinda funny. Their policy is STRICT and OBVIOUS about being on time. I like that. No classes are impacted by people being late or staff having to go attend to other things during the workout. The facility is nice. It's clean. The equipment is in great shape.

I was here for the first time. The class is at 130pm and they have this policy you have to arrive 30 mins earlier and I got that. They called me twice, at 1230pm and 1255pm. I was driving couldnβt answer the phone. I called back at 1pm after I arrived at assembly and was told I was late and not allowed to join the class due to their policy. I literally drove all the way here, hit some traffic, was right at partners garage made this call 30mins earlier and got denied told me to head back home. I think couple minutes really bothers them and wasting my life driving back and forth doesnβt really matter.

I have been going to OTF Somerville since they opened summer of 2017. The staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful, the coaches have motivated me in ways other gyms have not, which has helped me keep a healthier lifestyle and in turn helped me lose and keep off 20 lbs since starting. . They offer a variety of class times throughout the day that fit my schedule and best of all it challenges my entire body by giving me the best of both worlds (cardio and strength training).

My worse Orangetheory experience ever! The coach was new, the fan was blowing hard on the weight lifting area and the wind was blowing everyone away! Such an uncomfortable way of doing weight lifting and when I raised it to the front desk and the manager attention, they all looked as if its the first time they ever noticed it! Just a very poor customer service and a terrible experience overall. Do not recommend this branch although unfortunately there are not many other options around.

I just started taking classes at the brand new Orange Theory Fitness at Assembly Row and so far I really love it. The classes are always different and the hour goes by so fast. I am easily intimidated by gym weight rooms and group fitness settings and OTF solves those problems for me since weight training is incorporated into every workout and I am so busy focusing on myself, I forget about everyone else in the room. Try an Orange Theory workout if you haven't. They make an hour fly by with a variety of activities that keep you interested and working hard. The heart monitors provide real-time feedback (and confirmation) that you are pushing hard enough and getting all the benefits of your workout. After, they email a visual report on your workout so you can see how you did - and it's a great progress tracking tool, too!!

I definitely recommend this to anyone who is serious about fitness goals. The thorough design of workouts shows the amount of research and study they have done. I am really satisfied to join this class.

Awesome work out. Beautiful facility right in Assembly Row (by the orange line). Jason's a great trainer -- thanks for pushing me to the max!

This is the only 1 hour workout I have ever done where I feel like I have pushed myself to the max. The workouts change so much from day to day that I never get bored. The staff and trainers are all so nice and the trainers help you with your form so that you can get better. Assembly is a great facility and I look forward to what is to come! Orange Theory rocks!

You never get the feeling that the coach is there because they HAVE to be. They're never "going through the motions," which in turn encourages me to do the same, to give my all. The instruction is straightforward and clear. An all around fantastic workout every time I go.

I played College Basketball and Orange Theory is by far the best workout that I have found since then. The trainers get to know you and keep you motivated. You look forward to coming to classes. The workouts are always different, keeping you surprised as to what you will be doing that day. Your constantly working different muscle groups. You are focoused for 1 hour never having to wait for machines or weights. The Assembly Row location is immaculate! The fitness equipment is very well maintained and clean. The staff is always friendly. I would highly recommend Orange Theory Fitness! You will love it too!
