With the equipment, students beginner and advanced will use Pilates equipment and incorporate mat work into each session. By using spring resistance, Pilates challenges your muscles to work in two ways releasing and contracting. You’ll stretch longer and deeper and create stable joints that are more balanced and resistant to injury. Athletes and dancers love it, as do seniors, men, women rebounding from pregnancy and people who at various stages of physical rehabilitation.

I was told by Gwen that I didn’t have the body type for Pilates and that she “had a reputation to keep”. She pointed out that I had a crooked back which was puzzling to my orthopedist. I was discouraged to spend any money on 1:1 classes - “I’ll take your money but……”. As a professional business leader in Boston, I was appalled at the attitude I was given. I was just going to let this slide but I have since found a studio in the area that has been extremely helpful and encouraging and showed me that I indeed have a body for Pilates.

I am a personal trainer and truly disturbed to hear about one of my clients experiences here. Similar to another review, my client was injured during her first session! She was optimistic and went back for another session, where the instructor and owner told her (like the other review as well) to not come back, and that Pilates “just isn’t for her” come on! No exercise is one size fits all. Every trainer should be ready with modifications that can work for everyone! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Inclusion for every body and safety should be at the top of the list! And they are lacking that here.

If you like Pilates you're gonna love this place!
Gwen is an absolute angel. The single most memorable Pilates session of my life!
I wish I could leave more than 5 stars because this place is a 10!!!
From the moment you walk in you're treated like a queen (or king, don't be shy boys!).
Absolutely recommending Gwen to all of my friends.
Wish I could afford something special like this every day because it is WORTH IT

I had wanted to try Pilates for while but I was anxious to try something new. Then I saw the sign at a near by studio and decided to at least reach out to learn more. Gwen was patient with me. She listened to my goals and understood my skill level. I did several classes at an intro level and began to improve each class. Now a year later
I work to go at least 2xs a week. The instructors and other clients are all supportive and really help and encourage you to push yourself and get the results you are working towards. I trust the studio so much that I encouraged my 14 year old daughter to take classes with me. I am so thankful that I found this studio to help me continue to make time for myself and my own wellness. I can’t recommend this studio enough.

Broke my wrist on the reformer because the instructor was on the other side of the room with her back to me while instructing a new move.
When I brought this to the owners attention she told me I'm a liability to her because I'm a fall risk. If this is true then why didn't the instructor give me the attention needed when instructing a this new move.
Studio also charges others in class when you cancel for a class without letting class members know until you get your monthly bill.
Instructor Mike was the only one who was kind and concerned and caring while instructing a class. The star is for him.

Total Balance Pilates by Gwen is a great studio. Instructors are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Classes are challenging, always changing, and small enough that instructors are always attentive. I have been going for about 6 months and feel stronger, more flexible, my posture has improved and I have noticed an incredible change in my body. I always have a great time with the other students, it is never intimidating and everything is very well explained, you always are made to feel welcome and leave in a great mood! I highly recommend :)

I've been working with Grazie for about 8 months. I started pilates because of a bad sciatica flare up that left me on bed rest for several days. My back was in so much pain I could barely get out of bed without assistance. After getting the green light from physical therapy, I started with Grazie. Since then, I have had only a few days of back pain associated with my cycle. It has been life changing. While my core still has a long way to go, it's the strongest it's been since before my first pregnancy. I have mild scoliosis, which is what a lot of my back pain and sciatica are from. With her tiny adjustments of hips, shoulders, pelvis and arms, Grazie has been able to teach me how to hold my body so that it's actually straight, and not what I feel is straight. This has taken immense pressure off of my lower back. Thank you Grazie!! Your dedication has meant the world to me!

I was recommended to try Pilates by my SIL who has been going to Gwen for years. I was hesitant, because I always preferred yoga. But months after my second baby, my core was so weak and I was desperate to get some strength back. Enter the incredible Grazielli! She introduced me to Pilates and LPF and in just 6 weeks I’ve noticed major improvement in my core and overall strength. After my first class, I was worried I didn’t get much out of it because I was not drenched in sweat, but the next day my whole body was so pleasantly sore and I realized just how deep the exercises got into my muscles! I also love the individualized care you get, and the assurance that you won’t do something wrong or injure yourself. If you have been on the fence about pilates, here is your sign to try it. You won’t regret it!

The location of the studio in Franklin was convenient and easy to find, with plenty of parking.
The quality of the Pilates sessions are exceptional - I am challenged and I feel Gwen does a great job assessing what is best for my body, The studio is well maintained and I feel welcome and comfortable when I am there.
I couldn't be happier with my experience and I look forward to my sessions with Gwen each week. She goes above and beyond during every session. Its hard to find people who give so much to what they do everyday but Gwen is certainly one of them.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about improving their health and physical stamina by doing Pilates.
