Edit to reply to the "owner": why do I need to contact your manager if you read my review?? I don't work for PF, you do, so you speak to your manager. That's the point of these reviews!!!

Initial review: Grossest PF I've ever been to!!!! This was first thing in the morning so zero clean up the night before or prior to opening.

That floor hasn't seen a clean mop in weeks, at best. Squirting cleaning products all over walls and floors to leave it to dry as it drips isn't actually cleaning.
Not a single spot is spared either: dust on changing room walls, a loose toilet brush under the sink, a layer of greasy something on counters, benches, chairs, and the floor, streaks from what must've been a nasty cloth used to wipe mirrors and sinks, ... What in the world is management doing at that location???

This place needs to be shut down for a few days and a professional cleaning crew needs to come in, stat!! This is embarrassing and a sanitation hazard.

Update time!
The staff are perfect here! Love all of them. All welcoming since going through new staff ! Parking still horid but oh well 🤷‍♂️ cant do much about that.
But let me reference you the person working out. This is gonna be tough. All the treadmill hand buttons are finicky because the people who think you need to hammer the button to work have broken them. Some treadmill stay inclined some incline buttons and speed up buttons just dont work.
Unfortunately as well there is a waiting period at most machines because this gym has now become a social area not a place to work out 🤷‍♂️ socialize is fine but workout while at machines.
Unfortunately this gym has a lot of potential but because clientele they have broken equipment or make it hard to get a lift it :/ and they cant fix that

This gym is SO GOOD! The spa is luxurious, the staff goes above and beyond to help and give great suggestions (say hi to Scott - he’s amazing). The gym is clean and open. I had my first real workout in years and loved every last minute. I used the 30- minute workout routine, some strength building exercise machines in the main gym, and some equipment in the stretch room. Also, get the Black Card. It’s worth every penny. I flew over Norway in the meditation pod and had the most wonderful massage on the hydro bed. Lastly, I enjoyed a nice hot shower. I completely recommend this gym!

The staff is outstanding. Words don't suffice to express the excellence of Kim and Scott, the two main employees working the afternoon shifts. She was extremely rude, condescending and lacking in customer service skills. Another worker had to step in to help us after we pointed out how rude she was.

I’ve been going to this gym for many years but just recently got my own black card. Since this one worker, not sure what her name is but she has super short red hair, has started working at this PF I haven’t enjoyed my experience here. She been nothing but passive aggressive to me and it seems I’m always doing something wrong; the guest I bring with me have also noticed that. Not the way I want to experience my workouts! She also has been the only one to say something to me, even while several other workers have seen me and THE MANAGER! Once she started working I’ve been on edge with what I do, what I wear etc. All the other workers here are amazing but because of the one worker I will be switching my “home” gym to a different one. Very sad to move but it’s very aggravating and disappointing that it feels she seeks me out.

The people at the desk, the LGBJGT group take the job too serious. Find God. That’s what you see coming in to work out. Should tell you enough. Weights only go up to 75lbs. If you pay extra for the black member ship to bring someone, they don’t get any benefits. They are not allowed any of the extra features/tanning/massage.etc. Canceled for being chased and shouted at for walking into tanning booth with my wife. It’s not that serious ppl. Keep your trash location.

This location will be receiving a one star from myself since it’s the only way to leave this review. I got a membership for the Andover,MA location which just started later in January 2025, I canceled my membership a month later in February 2025 due to personal reasons and they continued to charge me a $50 year fee. I called and spoke with the manager Tori who was completely indifferent to members circumstances who refused to offer the refund for the year fee after just a month of a membership. The contract should be thoroughly explained to members prior to finalization instead of just having them download an app and figuring it out on their own.

This gym is pretty much always packed & theres no parking either. Tried calling one day to ask if there was a time the gym slowed down & mentioned there was no where to park. We were met with a weird beat around the bush, rude answer, like they were avoiding the question. They said the cars were for the other businesses too and they "don't have a list of when all the businesses crowds slow down." Or something like that. We asked again if there was a time the gym slowed down...
They then said check the crowd meter which by the way, will say it's low when, in my opinion, the crowd meter should be almost full based on how many people are in there. I've found myself sitting there waiting for equipment because it's all full. At this point, there's no reason to come to this gym, we plan on changing locations or even joining a different gym as well.
There's also some weird lady working here who gives off really unsettling vibes and acts passive aggressive twards us, it makes feel uncomfortable everytime we see she's there.
This gym wasn't nearly as bad as few years ago, I don't know what's going on now. One thing is for sure, they need better staff or to at least talk to their staff... & a much bigger location.

I don't have many requisites for a good gym, but this gym meets them except for one. Which is why I took away 1 star. It has clean equipment, clean bathroom, and clean lockers. It can get packed, especially during the New years resolution rush, but there's always something open if you don't mind changing your workout a bit.

My only complaint is that they close too early for my liking. I became used to their 24 hours 5 days a week from back in the day, then they shortened it to 11pm now it's 10pm monday-thursday and 9pm on Fridays and 7pm on weekends. I'm a night workout enjoyer, and this cuts my workouts short most of the time. I still give 4 stars cause this is just a personal problem, not a problem with the gym itself.

I had previously written a review about this location but took it down as I didn't want to be overly critical as I was still going here. However, after having frozen my account, and still being charged with no resolution, I'm now prone to bring my review back up.

Since the renovations, this location has become a place I have no desire going to. The weight machines are now oddly placed directly in front of all the cardio machines. So, It's odd to have to look at all the bros on the free weights, and it's just as odd being in that spot. Cable machines are very often broken / down.

The new layout of the locker room makes no sense and often creates a situation where you need to put your bags and personal belongings on the floor because one person has taken up and entire bench which there are now only 3. No idea why they went away from the room-wide bench system.

Bathrooms, for the longest time the showers smelled...well...like someone was constantly going to the bathroom in it. The first shower stall was out of commission for weeks, leaving only two stalls to use. I haven't been in 6 months, but I hope this has changed.

The last thing that drove me crazy the last time I was there was the staff. There was one particular male staff member who was more concerned with his own personal workout, then helping people waiting at the counter. I had to walk around the facility to try and find someone, and funny enough he had actually come behind the desk to get wipes for himself and ignored me (wearing casual clothes, then put back on his PF shirt). Again, 6 months ago, so I hope this behavior has changed.

What is incredibly frustrating is their freeze vs. cancellation policy. They claim that they only freeze accounts for 3 months at a time, and that when you freeze they have a "rigorous" process to explain this... I'm sure the 18 year old kid who was brand new really did a rigorous job at that time as I requested a foreseeable freeze. Fast forward, I was charged for multiple months without stepping foot in ANY PF location. When I asked if there was anything they could do, the answer was a flat no, and instead offered to help calculate whether it was better to cancel or freeze again and "next time set myself a calendar reminder"... or, how about you see the simple fact I have not been in ONCE and perhaps extend a courtesy credit towards future months, towards my annual membership fee(going on multiple years) or even a credit back to my account.... Nope, they clearly don't care and would rather churn you and keep your money.

The staff is great at this location. Everything is clean and the equipment works.

The center is smaller than others, yet it is never packed. The layout is good. There are 2 separate rooms; one for abs/TRX and the other for 360 circuit. The main room has the same equipment that the others centers have. Most of the equipment is new.

I drove a few minutes outside my town to go to this PF to see if it was better, I’m beginning to regret my decision. First off, cleaning stations frequently run out of paper towels/cleaner or are just broken all together; hadn’t seen one employee do anything janitorial related. Customer Service is just okay, wasn’t greeted when entering and on exit there was no one at the desk or even near it, when I did see someone in the Janitorial closet they were texting. Take the drive to Haverhill, Methuen or Plaistow. Not really worth working out here.

I've been a member since before Covid. There was a rough transitionary phase with this PF but honestly today I visited and I'm so glad I did. Black card actually means something now. I think it was Kim who helped me and was able to show me around the new hydromassage lounge with updated lighting and equipment, the cryotherapy and the sensory pods which were all great experiences. The inside of the gym looked clean and staff were so polite and helpful. I wish it was a 24/7 gym still but the improvements made since I last visited has made me want to actually keep going to the gym even if it's just for the benefit of the black card

There are many broken machines. Three out of four steps have not been working for more than a few weeks. Several treadmills are also non-functional. Many other machines have serious damage. The quality has deteriorated significantly. I hope they replace the machines soon; otherwise, other locations are better.

I have gone to this planet fitness with my sister while she still had her membership but after a while, we realized that the overall people there judged others a lot and when she went to cancel our membership, she did not get a well experience at all. The staff was negative on the fact she was cancelling our membership and she was so upset at the fact that they charged her for cancellation.

Tory has an incredibly positive nature, along with an obvious goal of providing a pleasant and productive workout environment for PF members. In addition to acknowledging members’ arriving and leaving, Tory is consistently “on task” circulating, checking, instructing, supervising, troubleshooting concerns, and answering questions. Her “leading by example” is evidenced through Ash’s work ethic as he has obviously benefitted from Tory’s guidance and appears to share her high professional workplace standards.

Went inside to cancel my membership, signed a paper and notice they’ve been charging me for almost a year now. Then won’t give me a refund unless I have proof through email of confirmation of cancellation. Not my problem your employees didn’t do their job. I mean they can check for themselves, I haven’t been to the gym in about a year. When I had called them the first time about this issue, they told me they’d give the information to their manager and I’d get a call, but never got a call and then they charged me the month after that as well. There is a LOT of broken arm/leg/weight machines. Was unable to adjust many of the seats and the pegs were not attached to the chord on the weight so the machine was unusable. Plenty of cardio machines though.

One star it's to much for this place, water fountain is warm as son you step in the smell of old and dusty place, the light at the cables spot is going on and off, this is very seriously to take action on the leg press machine so unstable if you go more then 270kg will shakes it's not on level. The bathrooms smell like stagnant tanks,
Methuen location it's been my way for almost 2 years always clean friendly staff. Doesn't make any sense having a gym 5 mins drive from my home, to drive 15 mins al the way from south Lawrence to Methuen just because Andover Location is neglected. Needs a remodel.

Tonight as I was exiting the gym one of the staff member's was holding the door open so I walked through it as I was already out of the building , female staff member says your not going to say excuse me with and attitude and was rude her demeanor and approach was aggressive and out of confusion I replied I thought you was holding the door open , she said she wasnt holding the door open and said I almost made physical contact as I walked through the door she was holding open . I didn’t touch her at all , and one of the gym members had to add her two scents. So now we have staff and other members compromising my mental health with the poor actions and behavior.I questioned her behavior and her response was I’m not allowed to go there any more . Abuse of power and poor costumer service skills , the quality of the gym and staff is beyond unacceptable , I don’t even know how you guys are still open haven’t been shut down yet , I have photos from how nasty and filthy and as proof of how poor of an establishment planet fitness has become , you guys are so desperate for employees you hire just about any one who could potentially be a liability to all of us . I need a response with in the next 24 hours in regards to this urgent matter , I will not give up or let it go till you guys eliminate the week links starting with the female who over stepped her boundaries and clearly made an issue out of nothing .

Can not have a good workout in the 30 minutes room or on most machines. People sit on the machine and not let others uses it or share with them. Need to really have someone to come in and make this gym
like other gyms and PF.

The Good: The staff is great at this Planet Fitness, always friendly, cheerful, and helpful. There are lots of machines and many of the popular ones are duplicated. There are a good range of dumbbells and many cool machines I've never seen anywhere else.
The Bad: The Black Card area falls way short of other local Planet Fitness locations. There are only two hydromassage machines and one of them barely works. The Haverhill and Methuen Black Card rooms are far superior.
The Ugly: The lighting in the place is dark and dingy. You feel like you are in a cave when in the back half. A couple simple windows in the back would add some natural light and totally transform the place.
So not to be too negative, it is still a good place to workout, great staff, and it has decent hours. I just wish they would update it, I heard plans to update it were postponed, which is too bad, it falls way short of what it could be, which is to be something on par with the Haverhill or Methuen PF locations.

Recent happening that make this GYM pushing it's Republican Views on the customer. They have 10 TV channels and since the January 6th committee started they stopped showing CNN and increased their FOX news Channels to 3 TV's and shut down 2 other TV Channels that have Blue screen. I believe Planet Fitness is trying to control it's environment to REPUBLICAN View ONLY by only Showing FOX BIG LIE NEWS. I go to the gym to work out not to see Tucker the F---er face everyday.

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. I get that there's a no phone policy but is there also a no talk policy? I'm a person of color and although I see groups of other gym goers talking, laughing, and having fun, when I try to do the same I am told to quiet down. I see this as a form of racial discrimination. If your going to enforce rules, at least have the decency to apply the rules to EVERYONE. Life is hard enough as it is, and I can't even enjoy my work out. I canceled my membership and decided to buy a treadmill for my home. At least I won't be bothered there.

It's so different from other PF I go to. When I recently went to this one, the staff person
Did not look up when I signed in. Nothing, in fact he had his head phones on.
Many of the late afternoon crowd had their phones with them during their work out. A few of them were resting on a machine looking at their phone. One person did this in the 30 minute express work out room, AND was talking on the phone. 3/4 of the patrons do not wipe down the machine after using it.
I walked in today, the floors were not swept, and the shower stall had the same clump of hair from yesterday. There was toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom stalls.The entire place is not clean. I am not impressed. What a difference from the other PF I go to; professional staff, everything looks clean, and
The people do wipe the machines after use. Not all, but most.

Very Disappointed! Brought my regular work out buddy and my new neighbor to check out the club I mention that to the sales associate in the front desk Wilken.then he said I need it to pay $20 extra , I told him the in the past I have paid $5 he was very rude and said no it was $20 o told him it was my friends first time as he had just move in to the neighborhood he did not care or even tried to work with us . Approximately a year ago I gave my Credit Card information to one of the attendants at the front desk. I did this to cover the costs of the membership for a friend of mine. I did not sign anything (which is important here) and told them that I only authorize the membership fees No worries. About 8 months go by and I have decided to no longer pay the membership fees for this other individual. I call the General Manager and he tells me no problem, he'll remove my card information. The next month comes by and I get charged again. I call back and talk to the General Manager (it is a female this time) and she tells me that she can't remove the card because there is no other payment method to cover that persons account. I told her that was between her and her "account holder". She said no it isn't and wouldn't remove my card from being charged. I told her to produce some contract that I entered into and she could not. I then told her to cease charging my card then. For three consecutive months now my card has been charged and I know for a fact that the account holder has not been in the place. I signed no agreement with them and I can tell you if they produce anything they have forged my signature. Its crazy to have to write a poor review for a gym that I've never even worked out in. Shame on you planet fitness. Your "Agreement" is with the account holder and not me....RETURN MY MONEY!!!!

UPDATE: 03/12/2021. The owner seems to like to respond on here by saying please email and we'll take care of this and then does absolutely NOTHING TO HELP. It looks good that he/she is responding but the answers is "Geez, you really have to handle that with the store". Well, here we are again, MONTHS after this review and a lot has happened. My friend went to Planet Fitness approximately 3 weeks ago and squared the account so that they could start going again. Yet, here we today and I get another notification from my Credit Card Company asking me to update my information with Planet Fitness because they denied a charge that they (Planet Fitness) tried making. Why? Because in order to stop them from charging my card originally I had to cancel my old card. The owner who said they'd resolve it never did a thing; the location in Andover was useless. NOBODY would help. So I had to cancel my credit card. Do you know how much of a pain that is when you have a list of like 10 companies who are doing automatic payments and you have to call them to update your card. All because one company is acting ILLEGALLY by charging a credit card that they have no written or verbal authorization to do so!!! I have no idea how you are still in business and they Attorney General's office has failed to get you on illegal banking practices. Stop charging my card. And don't respond to this review by asking me to email you...the first time did nothing. I give you full permission to post here what you've done to rectify this as long as you redact my Credit Card numbers, my address, and my last name.

Membership cancellation cannot be done by phone. I had to personally go and cancel the membership. After 5 months i noticed that they started charging me again. When i called the customer service, they were super unhelpful and did not take any responsibility. I emailed the customer service and till not did not receive any response. Please be careful and check your account to see if charges creep up. Cancellation does not mean actual cancellation in planet fitness. I am very disappointed by the unprofessional customer service. They did not even check to see if i have visited or if there is any activity in my account to find more details. I have paid more than $100 for something which i dint use and now i have to go there again to cancel the membership.
