I have made it a point to visit all fitness centers when I am on the road away from my home center. While in Boston I stopped in for a visit at East Boston, MA. Not to throw shade, but it was smaller than others. However, it offered the same items that all of the others and was very well attended. The most important thing is that being a Black Card holder gives me the privilege to do the visiting I have grown to enjoy. Another upside is the workout is the same with Planet Fitness no matter where you go and I really look forward to the consistency... Kudos to the no judgement zones.

you know, I wanted to give one star because from the moment of registration until leaving the territory, 3 hours passed, of which I spent 1 hour just standing and waiting for the red light to come on, then it came on but loading didn’t start for another 1 hour and then they quickly loaded and I left, so after reading how it happens here with others, this is clearly not 1 star, I hope everyone will be so lucky and not just me.

Just called to ask a question about being add it to my fiancé’s membership, and the girl who answered the phone was only listening to respond, not listening to understand and giving extremely sarcastic remarks when I ask a questions. I want to share how much I love Planet Fitness in East Boston, especially because of the amazing people at the front desk. Let me start by mentioning Luis and Julie first. Their professionalism and great attitude have made my experience at Planet Fitness in East Boston so much better.

They are both valuable assets to this company. I have also received wonderful and positive attitudes from Mikey, Tyrell, Devin, and Ximena. Their welcoming nature has made my visits to the club a pleasure.

THIS PLACE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!! Do not open a membership here. I followed all protocols and sent a letter of cancellation and they continued to charge me and provide a million excuses that they “didn’t receive the letter,” even though I have friends who have had no issues at other gym locations with cancellation. After escalating to the regional manager, they still refused to refund me or provide good customer service. Absolute fraud and this place should be ashamed of itself. I’ll be escalating this to corporate for the unauthorized charges.

This location is frustrating, I’ve brought to staffs attention several times if they could post time limits signs on equipment, which they refuse to do. People who frequent this gym have no etiquette and will sit on the only 4 smith racks for 40min plus and it’s always the same people. If you have plans to use the smith rack here forget about it.

Update:( still only 4 smith racks. The same people come in and use the only 4 smith racks for 45 min. I’ve waited in line 20 min at times.

Planet Fitness buy more racks please. There is no way you’ll Controll the rack hogs.

Update: still the gym has not purchased smith racks and the wait is crazy.busy with the never ending leg day people monopolizing the racks. Unfortunately the gym doesn’t have heavy enough dumbbells to make chest day worth while

Decent gym. In the East Boston location, it is better than most PFs in the MA area. Most machines are working and it has space if you come at the right time. But, man the front desk receptionists seems like they hate their job! Most of the time, they be on their phones and they don’t even say “Good Morning!”, “Welcome”, or anything! People pay for memberships and at least they could be friendlier and welcoming, it just ruins the mood at times with the unfriendly vibes, sometimes they give you an evil glare like you did something wrong. Come on you guys are the face of the franchise being friendly and outgoing doesn’t hurt… I also have a problem with some members being uncourteous with the machines in the Smith Machine. They spend abnormal amounts there sometimes 1 hours or more. Please put timers or reminders that other members wants to use the machine as well, it’s a shared gym and it’s only right if everyone gets a chance to go. Overall, it’s okay. Mostly staff needs to be trained on the importance of a warm welcome to members to create a more positive environment which is the point of the gym..

I have reached out. I was lied to straight in the face, and charged with fraudulent late fees. I Was told my bank put a stop payment on my first form of payment (checking account). The bank confirmed, this did not happen. Then continued to receive a late fee of 60% each time I was charged on my 2nd form of payment, debit card for the same checking account. This required 2 forms of payment facilitates this fraudulent activity. I was also told that I was in fact contacted several times via email and phone about this issue. Also a lie. The only recourse offered was 2 months waived fees. I was charged an extra $15 a total of ten times. The monthly fee is $25. Unacceptable and fraudulent.

The equipment is nice and facility clean, but don’t waste your time. People will just sit at the machines on their phones. The men will stare at you and follow you around no matter what you’re wearing. It’s frustrating. I can use maybe 3 machines within an hour.

I understand your a gym but you also run a tanning salon that should be cleaned and sanitized after every use, what is the point of having two employees on the same shift and neither one of them can go and sanitize and wipe down the beds? The stand ups need cleaning as well, when your running a tanning salon your responsibilities are to sanitize and clean after each use, don't just expect the patrons of the gym are going to do it, that's unsanitary and just lazy of the employees

I am thankful for the renovations that were done at Planet Fitness East Boston. I just feel extremely offended by the fact that they put so much effort to appeal to the white members by having a super cool, top of the art tanning room and spa. As a colored person who lives in an area where most people are colored I feel like I’m paying all kinds of money to accommodate white people. C’mon Planet Fitness; you can do better than that.

They do however need to be more diligent on what’s on TV. day that most important college game and World Cup is on they have 3 informercials and a movie 🤷🏽

Just recently re-opened after renovation.
The space is nice with plenty of new machines, a specific 30-miute workout area/routine with a light to guide the timing, a stretching area, many bikes and treadmills. The cost is probably as low as it gets in terms of gyms honestly, so not a bad deal at all.
For a little more money ($25 instea dof $10) one gets access to some massaging chairs, tanning beds (bot sure why haha), and red light therapy machines. One also gets access to other locations worldwide and possibility to bring a guest, so really not a bad deal!
Everyone gets access to lockers, bathrooms, and showers, but no towel service.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I tried cancelling my membership on multiple occasions but the place was closed for construction so no one was there to assist me. I have sinced moved quite far from this location.

The location just opened up again; I tried to cancel my membership and also get a refund for the months that the place wasn't operational BUT they said that I need to come in person AND I CAN'T CANCEL BY PHONE. I live really far so it's costly in terms of gas and time.

They also said that I could send a letter, but what are the chances I get a refund for the months they were closed...

This is a predatory system that preys on people not having the time and money to come in person to cancel their memberships.

EDIT: they cancelled my membership but they haven't refunded me. I WILL edit my review if they refund me
