We are traveling and have visited several PF locations over the last two months. This location set a new standard, especially in terms of alert and engaged staffing. Some locations have a degree of disinterested personnel and we understand why. But this location in general (and Shelby specifically) are really on top of their game. It’s hard to describe, but you know it when you’re in their gym. It is a very, VERY good feeling. Also, kudos on the new rowing machine that is also setting a new standard.

I've been going there for over 10 years now. I use different PFs when I travel and no matter where I go, Gardner is ALWAYS the cleanest I've ever been to. Seems like they update equipment every now and then which is great. It can get crowded as its a pretty popular spot and it seems like they have too many machines at the moment so you can be right on top of someone else at the next machine. Bathrooms are always clean. Staff are always attentive and extremely friendly.

Gym is okay but they play the music in the gym wayyy too loud. Especially loud at night. Not sure if it is a specific employee or what. Do not workout here unless you have noise cancelling headphones, but even those will not block out the music entirely. Do not try to listen to shows or podcasts you will not be able to hear unless on max volume.

The HQ website says you may email ur cancelation request. I have emailed and called and Gardner MA will not cancel my subscription. They say they need in person signature which is bull. Also, if u like to be cool when u workout don't go here. Hot as hell 90 percent of the time. Not worth it

This location has terrible communication skills. And the manager is extremely rude . We've been trying to cancel a membership with them since September of last year since we moved and lpcation is too far to travel for . We asked to speak with someone higher up then her and she responded with the owner doesn't care about you. So if this is how you plan to operate good luck terrible people skill and horrible customer service.

I’ve been a member of this gym for 5 years, I usually go to Lowell location and it’s very clean, this location in Gardner is very dirty! The equipment are very dusty and the stairs master is filthy! The cup holder is so dirty I am afraid to use it.

This gym is just off of Rt 2 eastbound. Its been a nice gym but the music tends to be loud. The parking lot is shaped a bit weird and small. There are large tvs in front of the windows. It's had equipment I've not seen in other PFs, like a several step stepper

I've lived in a lot of different states, but my favorite gym is Planet Fitness by far! Not only can you work out, but they have massage beds, massage chairs, tanning beds & even a body shaping machine(I forget the name of it) but I mean, can it get better?! Lol..I work all day, then lay in the massage bed & go tanning & it's so relaxing & such a good ending to a long day of work!🩵

I can't seem to go in the locker room without a man being in there cleaning. It makes me feel uncomfortable. And he's not in the bathroom, he's vacuuming or mopping directly in the middle of where people are exercising. I appreciate the cleanliness, but like road construction, can this be done at night or something? It is distracting and takes away from the experience.

This location is the closest to my house but it’s literally unbearable to go there with the amount of synthetic air fresheners they have. I get a migraine every time I work out there. They’re super toxic to your health which seems counterintuitive to a place you go to get healthy. I’d rather smell BO.

The lunk alarm button must be extremely dusty as it's never been used. I've been going to PF since 2021 and have seen people running around the gym doing laps, dropping weights, and other questionable things and the staff doesn't seem to either notice or care enough to say anything and have never seen the lunk alarm go off. It's been a lot busier the past couple of months, and its tough to find a machine after 5 PM during the week. The men's locker room needs a re-work as the floors is always wet, the locker rooms is crowded, and unpleasant at times. Gardner should take notes from Greenfield's men's locker room as there's quite the difference. There's also water that drips from the ceiling onto treadmills and it's been happening for the longest time. John that's apart of the staff is awesome though.

I can't imagine anyone writing a poor review of this place. This is the most amazing experience I've ever had at a gym. It's as good as Lifetime or any other luxury gym at the cost of $20/month and no commitment. The massage chairs etc and tanning options are top of the line! Basically, the whole "black card area" was amazing. I've been going to various gyms for 30 years and I was impressed by Planet Fitness in Gardner. I went on a guest pass and I'll definitely be signing up. Way to go Planet Fitness!!! Very impressive!!

One of the best pf locations. Some machines are neglected in tightening loose bolts or warped travel motions but the owner made a heavy investment in all new equipment last year and the maintenance of machines is still better than Leominster pf, where they left the chest fly machine with stripped bolts and faulty grab bars for like 2 years. The staff at the gardner pf is the best they aren't on you like a hawk like at Leominster. Ive been borderline harassed in Leominster from using gallon water jugs and lunk alarm blared for gently dropping weights. Professional athletes occasionally work out here and even some of the staff are also professional athletes also making gains in this very gym, and they don't break balls on questionable sized water jugs, dress code, or weight dropping unless you are really being stupid or inappropriate. There are guys that are regulars here that sometimes hog machines and crowd space but that is to be expected at any pf. The ab area lay out could use an update with lower mirrors as i don't really have a way to watch my form when i do push ups, and previously Leominster had the advantage all day in their ab and stretch area with more space and better mirrors. Overall the gym is pretty awesome with a good atmosphere but PLEASE WIPE DOWN THE INSIDES OF THE LOCKERS the cleaning staff really goes hard in the bathroom and floors, wich is great, and i get it the lockers are hard to clean inside when they are constantly being used but this is the job of nightshift and they are slacking. I hate getting greasy lockers with pubes. Again its a public gym, and this place is still pretty much the best but if you can afford $50-$100 a month the health and fitness center at mwcc is premium. This pf still gets 5 stars because my complaints are really more inevitable factors of heavily used public gyms and they doing pretty good considering the fact.

I've used the planet fitness in Chicopee, Sturbridge and Gardner. I love the variety of each, the equipment they all have and the access 24 hours. It's convenient to stay on target no matter where I am as well as what time it is being opened 24 hours a day.

I've been to a handful of planet fitness locations, and I have to say that this is one of my favorites. It's always very clean, and not too crowded, even before all of this pandemic nonsense. They have all of the amenities, and a great Wi-Fi signal. Everyone is extremely friendly.

I like this place! But I do have one big complaint. It’s hot. Like all the time. Even in the middle of the winter. I’ve never been to a gym where I consistently end up in shorts and a sports bra, even while it’s freezing and actively snowing outside lol. I kind of hate it. Sucks extra because I’m self conscious and definitely really wish I could be keeping more layers on. But other than that, not really any complaints. The staff are nice : )

I'm not a gym person and trust me when I tell you I'm very comfortable at planet fitness. Being new to working out I worry about judgment and people watching me but that is yet to be an issue at this location. They make the gym dummy proof with clear instruction on how to use the equipment. They have recently multiplied their stair climbers which is huge for me because they used to always be taken and I had to do another form of cardio. Very happy customer!! Also, the most affordable gym around! There seems to be a good mix of people from beginners to absolutely jacked people. I love it!

I can't thank the staff enough for time here at PF. I came out to stay in Central Massachusetts for 3 months and decided to start working out again. I met Karen and she worked out a membership that made sense to me. Fir the last 3 months Sam and Karen have made me feel like family. They were welcoming and it really kept me coming back. Now I am going back home with 3 months of progress under my belt and can't wait to get into the gym! (Although any future gym will have a tough act to follow with Sam and Karen).
As for the gym itself, it was never too crowded and there are enough machines and equipment where you never have to pause your workout. At my age momentum is everything! Tons of parking in a well lit parking lot where I always felt good about coming and going . Locker room was always clean, due to the fact that Sam( who is the manager ) would even take their turn at cleaning the locker rooms and restrooms. That tells you a lot about Sam's work ethic and pride of management. Karen and Sam make quite the team. I apologize for the long review but for the last 3 months , they were my family and I just wanted to show my appreciation.

Not a huge fan of this place mainly because it feels really unsafe to go here. I know a lot of people have bad stories of going here, including involving employees at time. That being said, the place looks really nice at least and is still good to have. I can't have a treadmill where I live and this is the cheapest option to go to. I just recommend parking under light, and carrying self defense if you go regularly. I personally have been approached and followed on two separate occasions within a few months during the evening hours.

Employees don’t even know how to do their jobs. I called asking to cancel and they told me I could do so at any Planet Fitness but when I went into one while I was out of town. The local PF here is much nicer than this one, they kindly informed me that the employees their did not give me the correct information about canceling. The actual gym is decent but their policies are not. They were closed for most of July. I was told I would not be charged for time closed and that I could use other locations free of charge while they were closed. They charged me the full amount saying "oh yeah we decided to charge everyone". I will need to speak to my bank. So I was charged for services not rendered with no attempt to reconcile.

Very small for the amount of people. Little to no gym etiquette by anyone. Pretty sure you were supposed to wipe equipment before the COVID lies and profiteering. Not one single dumbbell was wiped. There was the shining gem of an elderly person soaking an entire machine in the spray,still didn't wipe it though. Worst planet fitness in a 20 mile radius

As a woman of color I feel racially profiled and I am never going back to this gym. A entitled Karen came up to me while I was using a machine and demanded I get off the machine because I’m taking too long. I told her I have 2 more sets and she’ll have to wait and she began to say more while she walked away. As a beginner i already feel awkward at the gym and this mad me feel even more uncomfortable. A few minutes went by
And a staff member came up to me and told me that she reported me and that I should be more mindful of how long I take on the machines. There has been many times where I have seen people hogging the machines I never go up to them and be rude or report the… it’s frustrating but it’s a public gym… I told my side of the story and she was polite but it felt she was kinda passive aggressive and like she didn’t believe me. I now will be going to the Leominster PF where it’s more inclusive this left a real bad taste in my mouth and no longer feel comfortable working out here . So much for a judgement free zone

Closed because of 3" of snow, AFTER the storm was over. We had a minor snow, 3" of fluffy stuff, completely every day for MA. The storm was predicted by all outlets to end by 6pm. I get there at 5:45 and the parking lot is packed, when I get inside they are closing at 6pm because of the dangerous roads...umm, storm was over, roads were plenty passable.

As with most Planet Fitness locations this one is missing important equipment or doesn't have enough. Also the internet works maybe 50% of the time? I've heard multiple people complain but the manager could care less. Usually its as simple as restarting the router but I guess that's a lot to ask for. If you have a job that you need to be on call for then go to a different gym. This one is solid brick with no service and the internet does work. Go to Fitness Concepts.

I'm kind of disappointed that a historic building was turned into a mediocre gym. This PF is... Loud. They have the PF tv channel or something playing over the speaker system and it's just too loud. I prefer the Muzak stuff the other locations play at normal volume. The roof was leaking near the chimney on my last visit, staff didn't seem to care since there were no buckets or wet floor signs. They also have a scale in the locker room. Maybe PF changed the policy but I thought ’No Scales’ were one of their things.

When I had a membership a few years ago I loved it but I found there to be no motivation and it was hard to gain muscle when there was a bucket of candy at the door. They gave me no tip on gaining, that’s why I switched gyms. It’s a good starter gym but eventually you won’t make any gains. For $20 a month and the only difference is that you get to use the other amenities that the $10 membership doesn’t. A Normal gym allows all members to use everything with a membership and they give you 24/7 access even when there’s no employees there.

I went in and started my membership and paid up front for the first month so that it wouldn't be deducted from my account 4 days later, the kid that signed up my membership didn't put it in the system right so they hit my account and overdrafted it making a couple of my payments bounce which cost me more fees! when I went in to ask for reimbursement I was treated like I was lying and told that I needed my receipt or they wouldn't refund the money so I ended up paying $42 for my first month of membership (not including the bank fees and payment fees, another $140+) and the kid that signed me up was there but they needed the receipt for proof! Not happy!
