Recently moved to the area and was checking out Gyms . The gym is clean , and spacious with plenty of equipment. But the reason I joined was the front desk people . Ian and Court were so friendly ( and not in that forced phoney way of most places ) they are energetic, helpful and create an amazing vibe ! They made the best first ( and second ) impression

I have had dozens of planet fitness memberships. The worst I've seen was in Washington DC. It was just gross in terms of cleanliness. This one pales in comparison and is the best planet fitness I've gone to. The equipment works well and is well maintained. There is also a good variety of machines and usually enough to go around on busy days. The staff at this location is pretty good with taking out the trash and it seems to be pretty clean considering the amount of people who go through in a day. They are also polite and professional. The patrons do tend to make a mess out of the floors and sinks in the men's restroom area. You must keep in mind that hundreds of people flow in in out of there. The staff does the best they can. I give the place a thumbs up overall. The only other gyms I've been to on the Cape are the Falmouth fitness center and the Barnstable YMCA. Both are also good.

Edit: I have noticed a significant improvement in the cleanliness issues that I had mentioned. It was more of a problem during the summer months during tourism season when the gym is busy.

I recently joined Planet Fitness and had a positive experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a non-intimidating atmosphere. Mary the manger is the worst rudely hangs up in the middle of a conversation over talks and didn’t listen. Had to drive there to speak to an actually person because once they know you have an issue with a credit card dispute they won’t answer the phone. All they care about is that they have your money. For someone that works for a corporate company it was the most unprofessional way I have ever seen anyone handle the situation. She dosent have a care in the world for her customers. Just the guy she was flirting with at the front desk. I cancelled my membership a month ago on April 24th and still being charged. Management dosent care. She shouldn’t work in customer service. As I told her the time and date that I was in and also the guy I spoke with who I canceled it with, also showed her my app that has the exact time and date. She insisted she had to watch the cameras to make sure. She in the wrong or your employees are not properly trained. I shouldn’t have been told I was all set and my account was canceled then a month later still being charged that’s on you guys. She shouldn’t be working there as a manger . She hasn’t rectified the situation she made it worse acting like it’s my fault that her employee made a mistake. Then telling me to leave and she will follow up with me on it. I’m all set I called Hyannis and I am disputing the charge on my card

The most striking thing, to me, is how clean this gym is kept. The location of the gym over the years has had previous Owners before Planet Fitness bought it and completely renovated the entire setup. There are twice as many Machines ( ergo, no waiting ‐ if rarely )
All gym amenities have been met.
As a Senior, I' impressed that a LARGE portion of the members are Seniors.

Mashpee PF is starting to go down the same road as Falmouth did., that is broken down and crappy. Alot of the equipment is not working properly and the men’s showers haven’t been kept up with. They use cheap hardware and at least once a week you have to settle for a cool shower cause the water heater is not working properly (there is two but one keeps breaking) I’m sick of not having a Hot shower consistently. They don’t replace batteries very often in the rower’s and other equipment. Maybe it needs a new manager… starting to check out other gyms in the area. 2/10/25 another cold shower this morning, please fix the hot water heater, there are two.

I personally use Planet Fitness exclusively on "Cape Cod",MA the "508".
They have locations in : South Yarmouth, Hyannis and Mashpee, Ma.
All are very conveniently located for public transportation and all have plenty of parking for normal transportation.
However after using all (3) locations the Mashpee, Ma is the best I have found in: presentation, staff, COVID precautions cleanliness and the availability of new kinds of equipment.
The staff was very cordial and made me feel happy about my "Black Card" privileges and overall membership!
While all of the (3) locations are pristine , and we are talking microscopic degrees of separation, the Mashpee, Ma location has my award for best "On the Cape"!

It is a brand new gym, but it has a VERY SMALL space for benches and free weights that makes me feel claustrophobic being so close to other members, really uncomfortable for a woman. Good luck finding a bench when it is rush hour, Ive tried so many times that now I'm looking for a new place. Most of the gym area is occupied with cardio machines and just one leg press. No landmine and very few cable machines that are always being used unless you go in the middle of the day. If you go with a workout plan in mind, be prepared to toss it out of the window bc if you go there after 4 pm, that place is completely packed.

I called this club 2 days ago Sept 22, 2022 to find out their rates and was told it would only cost $1 to join with a classic membership of $10 a month. That price was great compared to other gyms in the area. (I live in Sandwich). When I drove to check it out and join, I was told that the rates to join were $49 not $1 for a Classic membership and the price had just changed that day. I asked them to honor what they had told me on the phone. They claimed they could not and wouldn't put me in touch with their manager who wasn't available until Saturday. Needless to say, I decided not to join. I felt like I was lied to. What type of place changes their rates before the end of the month? And if someone had made a mistake, they should at least admit it. Made me really question the integrity of the place.

I'm torn on this place, that's why I'm only rating it 3 stars. First and foremost, this isn't a place you go to workout if you're a scheduler/planner like me. I go to the gym with a workout plan in my head and that's what I stick to. This place has too few pieces of equipment to accommodate the amount of people that go there. The dumbbells only go up to 75lbs and there's only two sets of each weight. I get it, this place isn't for those that TRULY like to lift and push their limits. This is why I'm torn on this rating. This place is meant to be a social hangout, I do get that. "No lunks" type mentality. With that being said, it's a fitness company, you should be able to go in, get a workout in, push your limit and get on your merry way. You can't do that here. All in all, if you want a place to go socialize, people watch and wear athletic clothes...this is exactly the place to do it. If you want a place to gain strength and size, go elsewhere.

I'm getting annoyed. I like this club, it's clean, the equipment is fine and I can usually get my work out done in an hour. However, there is an ongoing problem that I have addressed with the staff several time with little response. Some members seem to think it's ok to monopolize a machine, while watching videos on their phones. I get that the distraction helps get through a workout, but get it done and move on so others can use the machine for their routines. I understand some use their phone to watch or get instruction for their workouts, but that's not what I've seen.

Planet fitness is great for what what you pay! Free tanning, massage chairs and hydro beds and you can bring a friend for free with the black card membership! I think my black card costs 22 or 23 dollars a month. It's so worth it!!! It lacks group classes but for the price you pay it's not a bad lack! The place is always clean, cool and lots of equipment for busy times. I prefer the Mashpee location over the Hyannis.

Glad everything is back open. The woman who works the front desk in the morning is an absolute sweetheart. Everyone spends a little time chatting with her anytime I am there. Gym is a good size and good layout compared to others I've had. My only criticism of this PF is there is no free bar for deadlifts or bench press.

However the classes they provide are only during the day Monday through Friday so latest opportunity to learn how use the right machine the proper way for you is not exactly user friendly. Most people work Monday through Friday, latest class is 6pm. I asked the GM why they do not have evening classes since evening seem to busy highest traffic times or even have classes on weekends. He said point blank I have one full time trainer, 40 hours only. Kinda narrow minded, you can still have a 40 hour trainer flex or switch their availability to couple nights and one weekend and two day time availability to help as many folks as you can to have a more positive experience.

Wow what a change from the old operation. It is clean new equipment and friendly staff. My only complaint is that a piece of equipment I use needs attention as it has several loose bolts. Have reported it twice but its still not been looked at.
