The first guy was not friendly! But I guess that Boston just came from Michigan first time at a planet fitness in Boston I chose Mattapan! Parking is great building not to crowded but the staff yer one was cool the yt guy one was not friendly the blk guy and I’m blk so don’t come for me but I was excited like hey trying to talk to him he looked at me crazy as to say with out saying I’m here to work not talk to or help you! I won’t even say hi to him any more! The other guy cool! He helped me and was very friendly! Thanks for liking your job. This location is not great…the AC doesn’t work, also no fans. Last time I was there it was hot and muggy (on a cold day in March). It’s disgusting. It also feels a little cramped.

Yet another month of fraudulent charges from Planet Fitness. Yet another month of submitting my bank statement to the Attorney General's office trying to stop these fraudulent charges. Four cancelation attempts, three BBB complaints, and two years later- Planet Fitness still refuses to cooperate with BBB or the AG's office. They continue to state they have no record of me in their system, despite months of bank statements showing I am being charged for a membership they claim never existed. Since Planet Fittness Mattappan was made aware of this issue by the BBB, they withdraw $420.05 from my checking account. Don't believe me? Go look on Reddit. This happens all the time. Pick a franchise that isn't famous for fraud and go work out there.

I've been a member at the River Street Planet fitness off and on for a few years now. I really enjoy the friendly greetings from the staff, they are all very nice and helpful. The gym is great and I love the new equipment that has been added, for example the rope and new treadmills. I've seen the positive changes from when I first started working out there.
The location is very convenient it's only 10 minutes from my home, and there is lots of free parking. I also, like the early hours that they are open, this gives me time to workout before I head to work.
Also, the membership is reasonable.

The only thing is that I wish that they had a separate room for women to workout.
And a few workout classes like kick boxing, yoga, and female weight lifting classes.

Other than that I enjoy Planet fitnes. 😁

OMG they have updated the gym it looks so good like all
other PF . Before, when I workout on the machines I had to put paper under my elbow because the leather was broken and it would hurt my skin. I have visited other PF in other towns due to work and was impressed they had all updated equipment but disappointed Mattapan had all the old equipments. I want
to know why ?????
Well I must say I love and welcome the upgrades. With the upgrade lots of people have been visiting the gym now. My only complaint is people on their phones . You heavy voice men, yes I love to hear men with a heavy voice but not at the gym over my music which I have to turn up trying to drown out your voice to no avail. Lower your darn voice when speaking to person next to you, OMG having a full on conversation on your phone at the gym is a NO No , yes it's a rule, having a video conversation well you have to be a JA it is so rude and disrespectful. Be mindful of other people . Exercise is rhythm and set mind, help people like me who don't like to exercise focus and work hard at it. 😊🤗

This location is great. Very clean. The staff is helpful. This location's members actually go and workout. You rarely see someone sitting on a machine on the phone or even worse, that one member that grabs all the weights and uses an incline branch to rest her water and phone..

If I rated it a few months ago before the cardio 🏃‍♂️💨upgrade I probably wouldn’t give it 5 stars ⭐️ but with the new stairmasters, 📈 treadmills , bikes 🚴 and ropes it has made it a perfect 👍🏾 out of the way gym. I started back in July 2023 and I’m down ⬇️70 plus pounds today thanks to this gym being a 3 min walk and of corse changing my diet but I owe this gym for being a large change in my health life. Sign up for a blackcard membership and bring a friend. Check out the hydro beds for a new experience

The staff was always great at this location, but I've been trying to cancel my membership for months and I keep being billed. I have requested to cancel once in person, once via email, and once via mail- each attempt one month apart. I am still being charged every month. Had I known how often this happens when people try to cancel, I never would have joined PF. Apparently people have sucess sending a request via certified mail, so I'll try that this month. Hopefully the 4th time will be the charm.

I hope the central management of PF are not aware that everytime something breaks there, it NEVER gets fixed. Every machine that breaks, every paper towel dispenser, every sink, water socket that breaks stays like that. I say I hope that central management are NOT aware of the situation in the Mattapan PF gym and still do nothing to change that would be a disgrace for this chain. It makes you wonder what they are doing with the maintenance fees that they are charging us. Don’t they know that the machines which break there and do not get replaced become a liability? I almost broke my leg one day using one of the leg machines because it was jammed. It’s still jammed and it’s been a year! They absolutely have no respect for the people who are making that facility open. Needless to say that I’m looking for another gym. I’d rather pay more and be respected as a human being. While there is nothing wrong with the gym its self, i sometimes felt very uncomfortable coming to this gym. The gym is very clean. Every time I went (which was almost everyday), the gym and the ladies locker room were always very neat and clean. Never any bad smells or tissue everywhere. The staff are lovely, everyone was always very nice, very accommodating and very funny. They were always smiling and greeting. The gym is a little small so naturally they would have a smaller selection of machines then other gyms but with improvising that isn't an issue. The music was also always a fire selection and at a good volume.

On the other hand, for some reason out of all the gyms I have been to and after speaking with some of my fellow gym goers.... a certain group of people at this gym SPECIFICALLY have a staring issue. And a certain group of people in this gym tend to make some women feel uncomfortable. Obviously this has nothing to do with the gym its self, and obviously there's not a lot that can be done about this issue. But after experiencing a disgusting amount of some people making me feel extremely uncomfortable and staring at my private parts while i'm working out, I felt obligated as a woman to warn others. If you can try the locations in Dedham or Quincy, they're a lot better.

THIS PLANET FITNESS IS LIKE FAMILY!! The owner and staff care about you and watch out for you. My sister left her AirPods at a machine one night. The next day she went to see if by chance they were there, and the owner had found them and put them in the safe - safely returned to her! That same night, I left my purse at a machine and again, one of the staff members saw it and gave it to me as I frantically ran to different machines looking for it. This is a quality gym with amazing, friendly people!!

One lady called me back saying how I had to pay multiple "late fees" and I said I would call her back when I could pay them. This facility has improved in the past year, at least. The equipment and facility are being kept clean and in high working order and were updated to add amenities for black card holders. The chair and water massages are helpful, esp when battling pain and fatigue. Tvs are available in cardio area and if no headphones they are avail to purchase along with water. I went to cancel my membership. I wanted to get refunded for this month's fee. I was told a letter was sent in July advising the gym would be opened and there is a 7 day notice required. I advised I didn't receive the letter and dinner we are in a pandemic I don't feel so l don't feel comfortable coming to the gym. I was told I could not get a refund as they are a franchise. I asked to speak to the manager. They told me the manager will call me in 24 hours. Ifi now 2 days later and still have not heard from the manager. So done with this company! They did updates to the place but refuse to reimburse me my monthly fee.

Gave 2 stars because the front desk associates do their best to help as needed however the mess that management makes does not always allow them to help. It has been several months that I have had issues with both the male and female manager of this location. Spoke with male manager several times in regards to unprofessionalism from female manager, my membership being mixed up, pricing changing month over month and each time I was told to give him a call back in a few days with a nonchalant demeanor rather than him saying he would look into the issue and follow up with me as I am the paying customer. Not happy with this location at all.
