I have been going here since it opened and if I had made this review any other year than the last it would have been five stars. But the cleanliness has plummeted. The bathrooms and toilets in the ladies room frequently look like they haven’t been cleaned for a while. Toilets are turning yellow at times and the floors are covered with debris. They either changed the cleaning schedule or cut back but it is disgusting. I keep waiting for it to get better but I am considering leaving for another gym.

Kind professionals at front desk.

Giving update on the gym its dirty and I didnt come 2 or 3 days to return to the same nasty stain in the bathroom to the front door and area around the desk its the same trash. Planet Fitness in Maynard is a convenient and well-maintained gym. The parking lot is large and shared with nearby stores and a supermarket, which makes it easy to run errands before or after a workout. The restrooms are clean and comfortable, and showers are available. Staff are generally okay, though not always the friendliest. The Black Card membership is definitely worth it and reasonably priced at around $25/month. Overall, a good gym — I recommend it!

Edit: now too crowded to be usable even at the most off-peak hours, and hours remain very limited. Planning to cancel soon.

Overall it’s the best PF location I’ve been to so far out of several, but I wish it didn’t close an hour earlier than other PF locations. Also, like almost every gym, the weight section is packed while at least 2/3 of the cardio area is empty/unused. I definitely use the cardio machines, but I don’t need to be surrounded by five empty ones when I do. Still an excellent value though, and I feel like they care about providing a good experience.

Planet fitness has gotten me back in shape and I dropped 54 pounds in four months. I change the way I eat & what I eat and at least 5 times a week at Planet Fitness. Excellent place if you want to stay in shape and relax too. Great support staff and friendly place with a million LCD Screens, good music in background, clean and a second home for me as I am now ... in shape! And always getting stronger. I'm 70 and never done this before. Very thrilled with Planet Fitness!

Place is full of Instagram and video recording women and teenagers. Just feel weird as a single guy trying to work out when you got women in little to no clothes and male/female teens in the changing room taking photos and recording everything. So happy I am moving. Most guys have a not recording or photos policy.

I’ve been a loyal member of this gym for several years and have always appreciated the facility—until recently. Ever since a woman named Pam started working at the front desk (older, dark hair), the quality of service has noticeably declined.

On multiple visits, Pam has come across as confused, inattentive, and generally disinterested in helping members. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe she was new or still adjusting, but the issues have continued for weeks.

Pam often seems unsure how to handle simple tasks like checking in for a hydro massage or answering basic account questions. What’s worse is the tone she uses—it’s consistently rude and condescending. This past weekend, I brought a guest with me, and she was treated with the same dismissive attitude.

It’s disappointing to feel unwelcome at a place I’ve been coming to for years. The rest of the staff and the facility are great, but front desk service plays a huge role in the member experience. I hope management prioritizes hiring front desk staff who are genuinely kind, respectful, and take pride in their work—unlike Pam.

I was a member at Lifetime Fitness for a little while before I discovered Planet Fitness in Maynard. I realized this place has absolutely everything I ever need to work out and at only $10 per month, it’s an unbelievable bargain. The gym is always super clean, it’s very big so there’s always a machine available, and the staff is always super friendly. Would definitely recommend thisPlanet Fitness!

If you’re gonna join a good, clean, and friendly gym go check out Planet Fitness in Maynard. Place is amazing, with all the machines and free-weights you could possibly need. But the real highlight was my guy Rob at the front desk. He was very friendly and patient while walking me thru the member sign up process. He remembered my name every time I walked through the door, too. Guy was just awesome. Give that man a raise! Make sure you ask for him next time you need anything there.

The Maynard location is absolutely wonderful, with outstanding staff and a welcoming atmosphere! My wife and I initially started our membership at another location, but due to their inconsistency in opening at 5 AM, we decided to switch to Maynard—and we’re so glad we did!
The morning staff here is fantastic—always punctual, friendly, and ready to greet you with a smile. They've been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, offering guidance whenever I have questions about specific equipment.
The facility is consistently clean, and it’s a rarity to find machines out of service. This level of maintenance really sets the Maynard location apart.
One of the highlights for us is the 30-Minute Workout room. It’s been a game-changer in keeping us engaged in fitness, especially as a couple in our late 60s. The structured setup makes it easy to stay active and comfortable, embodying the “Judgment Free Zone” philosophy.
We sincerely hope that the rumors we’ve seen online about PF discontinuing the 30-Minute Circuit program aren’t true—it’s such a valuable feature for members like us!

Filthy mens bathroom even the lockers are dirty there should be houskeepers ...some people don't even clean machines after use also theres one machine broken seems like they never gonna fix that...why annual membership? It's ridiculous not like years ago sign up and pay monthly and/or cancel anytime if I cancel right now they still take my annual membership fee....in other words people should understand doing a weird workout with weight can cause serious injuries to themselves and others for example saw a person doing squads with a 45lbs disk weight on top of its head with no hands trying to keep level going up and down!
I immediately left that room. And for all those teens that go to the gym don't guard a machine or area it's not a fort other people need to use the equipment.

Weight area was jam packed, mostly with teenagers. All the benches were taken. The benches were only 3 ish feet apart. When I got a bench no 30, 35 or 40 lb pound weights were available. Really really don’t like going June, July and August.

Often the men’s changing room is filthy. I have had to abandon more than one workout because the employees were no shows for the opening shift.
Needs better staffing. I have had to leave and not be able to use the Blackcard area because there was not any staff to check me in.

Update…now the 3rd or 4th time I have gone here 1st thing in the am and there is no one here to open the gym. Ridiculous.

Continued trouble with accessing the Black Card area because there is one employee at the desk and then they disappear for 10-20 mins at a time. Original review: Second time in recent weeks that I've shown up to this planet fitness during posted business hours, getting myself out of bed and here shortly after their 5 AM open time (like I do every day), only to find their slacker staff has slept in. Apparently, it's too difficult to unlock a door and turn on a light switch. This place is incredibly unreliable, they don't fix broken equipment and I'm fed up with it. Get your act together!

Kids behind counter have no clue on what they're doing and don't know how to use the machines. Rowing machine has busted display over a month before that dead batteries for weeks. The bike shuts off ever 30 seconds and heat rate different between machines 20 points. Ropes are frayed, manager takes long breaks.

Been going for a few months mainly cause its down the ST, I use a Gym in Billerica that has real equipment Benches, Squat racks, assault Bikes Rowers etc. Dumbbells that go over 100. Anyway Place is clean, Staff is cool. I like the back machines my gym does not have many. BUT People are absolute destroying themselves and a move away from a back problem. You have to see it to believe it, most do not have a clue how to lift properly. The lat pulldown use is the funniest thing you will ever see. The local teens are pathetic at lifting its also hilarious to watch. Or they sit on phones and snap pics and get in the way. I get the whole Business Model Judgement zone but work out and move on.

Nice PF location that just opened up. Decent size, there is a TRX/abs and stretching area along with the 30 minute circuit. Good selection of machines and the weights area is about the same size as at other locations. The black card spa is great, staff is always friendly.

EDIT: brought this rating from 5 down to 3. They turn the TVs and music off long before they close. At least empty the trashes which are usually overflowing and refill the empty sanitizers before you hit the TVs.
