Walked in randomly and was pleasantly greeted by Ashley. She gave me a full tour. The facility was very clean. I later went home and signed up.. I also want to write positively about Esteban. He has been so kind and very informative with the red light therapy and training program. I really like it here. The staff is great and I always get on a machine or area I need, no problem. I’m extremely disappointed with the way the Methuen Planet Fitness treat Hispanic’s. My mother was simply trying to bring a guest with her — something she’s done before at this exact location — and was met with unnecessary resistance from the staff. I tried to explain over the phone that my mother doesn’t know much about smartphones or technology, and that she was struggling with the steps the staff were demanding she complete. Instead of being patient or helpful, they dismissed her and caused her unnecessary stress.

If you’re going to serve a diverse community, you need to have someone bilingual at the front desk at all times — not just occasionally. No one should feel unwelcome because of a language barrier or their ethnicity. Do better

Planet fitness is a really good gym I was 250 lbs struggling to go to the gym for even 15 mins I would almost start to cry because how depressed humiliated I was about not taking care of my overall health and after about 6 months I lost 75 lbs then after 1 1/2 years I lost 121 lbs and now to day I am 168.2 lbs I weighted myself a couple hours ago. Yesterday I did 6 miles on the treadmill and the day before that I did 14 miles on the treadmill the day before that 2 miles and the day before that 4 miles my best week was 20 miles everyday I did 140 miles on a week my endurance has went sky rocketing I have people I don't even know that have watched my transition start to open up and say hi they recognized my ability are amazing they smile or say hi I mean anyone guy, girl, to see even the employees say hi. I love planet fitness its where I developed all my magic.

I've been to many Planet Fitness centers and in all of them you can have your bag for your belts, water, gloves, all except this one. I don't understand that policy. If you're someone advanced in the gym, you know that you can't carry all of that in your hands. They lost a client because of a stupid policy. I canceled my subscription.

I was disappointed with my experience at this location. I came in on a Saturday evening to do my cardio and enjoy a nice game of basketball on the television. As I’m watching the game the manager decides to turns off all the TVs. I look at the time and it’s only 6:25pm. The gym states it closes at 7:00pm I pay for a membership I should be able to use all amenities until then.

This a a bad experience on this local planet fitness methuen ma
It all started when I took my wife to the gym because we paid for a Black Card West membership. I told my wife to go ahead I was on a phone call when I saw my wife coming out crying and I asked her what happened and she told me one of the employer kicked her out I went in side and ask what happened this employee told me
I couldn't be there and my membership was cancelled he said someone else was using my account I told him she was my wife and the guy laughed and said stupid people right in my face
And friend of mine he asked him why he was acting that way. And he also cancelled he’s membership
We left It was impossible to talk
I went in to talk to the manager I explained to her my concerns about what happened
She told me that he made his report and he said that she was going to defend her employee
According to him, he said that one time I went there did not wear the right shoes, the second time i took a friend to the gym and he did not have a cell phone, he did not have Gmail and even worse, he did not speak English and he wanted his information but is that an obligation?
My concern with this is this person employed? It's normal that they call you stupid or that they cancel your membership and give the employee the reason, I mean I was paying for a membership where in the end they bring out my wife crying as if she were a criminal and where in the end they call me stupid

This particular Planet Fitness location is disgusting to say at least to enter a gym at 5 AM in the morning and find weights everywhere. Trash barrels still filled sinks dirty soap dispensers that are broken and take forever to get fixed. paper towel dispensers empty Mirrors that have not been cleaned. clientele that do not wipe down the equipment after they use it. and staff that does nothing about it. Today 8/28/24 nobody showed up to open the gym people standing outside. Your staff did not show up for work today. Nobody covered the shift. What are you gonna do about that?

The gym is always packed, the weights are often not where they are supposed to be. The smiths machine are always under use. I once saw a guy recording the whole gym, the dude wasn’t in gym clothes, I think he just was a creep. Coming to this gym brought a lot of bad experiences. Overall I don’t recommend this gym for beginners.

First let me say I work out at a lot of different planet fitness locations. My job is based on territory so in my area, which is andover, Methuen, Salem nh, reading, I have been to them all. This is the ONLY location that has this problem. The trash is ALWAYS overflowing, they are ALWAYS out of paper towels, and when you mention it to the staff they look at you like you are the crazy one. This is a staff issue at ONLY Methuen MA. I will legit drive 29 minutes out if my way just to not come here again. If you own this chain, tell your staff to go around hourly and restock paper towels and change or renew trash bags. Simple. If they do not, fire them and hire someone who can do a very easy job. Disgusting and it has happened my past FOUR visits here.

Unfortunately, I drove 20 minutes out of my way to this location with the sole reason to tan but was not able to. Using my black card membership I attempted to sign up for a tanning bed but was prompted with an error message that surprised both me and the long blonde haired employee. While not knowing how to solve the issue he said he could manually start up a massage chair but tanning was out of the question due to Mass law. One star for being undertrained to help one of the higher tiered members. I mean I’m sure it could be fit in to the employee onboarding process as training to sign in employees, answer phone calls, and clean equipment doesn't take very long.

This happens to me today , I was training and I was sweating so I took of my sweater and put it next to me on the floor , then a staff member came and told I couldn’t have the sweater there to put it on or tide around my waist so I did and I told him I didn’t know to apologize me , he left , I’m done with my workout went to the looker room to get my stuff then he came swiping the floor when the floor was clean almost sweep my sneakers while I was sitting he slammed the lockers doors including the one behind me . I look at him and left .I Felt so disrespected.

Tried going to the gym on July 4th 2022. No signs posted on the front door of the holiday hours for that day. No one answered when I called earlier to try to confirm the holiday hours. I arrive shortly after 12PM to find they locked the front doors way before the 1PM holiday closing time, I guess, to discourage more folks from entering, even when there were already about 10-15 members inside working out from what I can see looking in through the window. :(

This place started nice. I began going in the morning because it just works best for my schedule. But there has been 4 occasions where this gym is closed. And I only started going 5 months ago. It is so annoying because I just waste time, sleep, and gas. It's so aggravating that you would think this issues to be resolved already. Do not recommend. Maybe need better staff who are professional. But if the time is posted I would expect for it to be open as it's stated.

This place has gotten so bad since it first opened. The gym is extremely hot. I am not sure why they cannot lower the air, especially now during the summer along with all the people that attend. Other Planet Fitness's do not keep it so hot. Also, this one is disgustingly dirty. The garbage is always over flowing and you can see dirt everywhere. Several machines have been broken for months and never get fixed, the equipment is also clearly damaged. They let outside "trainers" train people and they take up all the machines. I hope they can really get this gym to how it was before.

Absolutely awful customer service. I got charged a late fee despite making three attempts to make a payment before my bill was due both online and in-person but I was told I cannot. Even after changing my billing info to a new bank account, they still processed the payment to my old account and charged me a late fee stating "insufficient funds." I spoke with the assistant manager herself but I was told nothing can be done to get me reimbursed for the late fee even though she acknowledged it was wrong of them to charge me a late fee. Awful way to do business!

Super clean and a great place to workout minus the meatheads. The only downfall is that they do not open until 7am on the weekends which is a bummer. Haverhill is 24 hours but is not as big and nice!

UPDATE: Do not show up at 7am on the weekends. Been waiting almost an hour for them to open and still nothing. During the week, the gentleman who opens is always punctual and even early. Weekend people will leave you sitting in your car! Totally sucks!

I love this gym. But recommend to be at least open till 12:00 am .

NOT TILL 10:00 pm . We don’t have enough time to the workouts cause after after 8 pm it’s when more crawling gets the gym , then you have to wait to used the machine cause some other person is using.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s good staffs in there , very clean , very respectful, I love that.

But the only inconvenience that I have with this gym is the schedule, I believe that I may have the cancel my membership of this gym and move to another planet fitness, maybe Salem NH or Haverhill, those planet fitness are 24 hours, which is very convenient for a person that get out from work a 6 pm or 7 pm , so like that I have time to get everything set up and then go to the gym .

I will be more than happy if this will be closing at least at 12:00 am . Pleaseeee!!!!

I was going tru some financial difficulties and had to cancel my membership.

My due date was the Dec 17th
I went to cancel it on the 12th.
Due to my situation, I asked repeatedly if I was going to get charge again.
I was assured my account was not going to get charge again.

Turns out they did charge me.

When I called to ask why the guy's response was;
"I wasn't working here when that happened, so I don't know how to help you"

Taking into consideration he was new and it was evening hours, I decided to call again next day.

I was told I had to cancel on the 10th for whatever reason.
Maybe they can reply to this comment and explain for all to see?
Something to do with the financial department.

Anyways
When I joined I wasn't told that.
When I canceled and asked repeatedly I wasn't told that.
The new guy didn't know.

That's why I chose *poor communication* to give one star. Poor training.

Employees should know this. Club members should be informed.

After the reopening after Covit-19 planet fitness started to bill us without asking us if we wanted to start their facility again. Called them on the day of renewal to cancel membership . Started my first day at this gym yesterday and to be honest I’m thinking of completing canceling my membership. Signed up online so I had to take a picture when I walked In, I thought I was going to get a tour of the gym but the ladies in the front were pretty busy doing nothing but standing and talking and on there phones. Fine not a big deal started my workout and could not believe the amount of people waiting around for the same machine. Was shocked to find out there was only 2 cable weight pull machines out of the ENTIRE gym. Then when it was finally my turn the machine wasn’t set up with handles only on one side, I approached the girl in the front and showed her the workout I was attempting to do and asked if she can show me where the machine was that had both handles. She pointed to the back then when I looked at her clueless she decided to come out and show me but of course as I saw it did not have the handles. Too crowded, lazy staff, bad first impression. I left the gym with half my workouts not done. Canceling today!
