This PF reminds me of the PF in Concord, NH. A similar set up but there is not a 30 Minute training room at this location. Also fewer ab exercise equipment. A lot of the equipment is up to date 📅.
They have older model massage chairs but I like them.
The men's locker 🛅 room is smaller than other PFs but it was in good shape.
Friendly staff.
The one thing, not John Carpenter's or the member of the FF, that stood out to me was that the clientele was my age, older. Maybe that is why the defibrillator is noticeable. Only a few weight slammers.
They have equipment that I can use for my physical therapy. There is an area to do stretches.
If you a member of PF, I would recommend this one.

Hmm...where do I start? One lady at the desk was very nice and friendly, the other was rude and made it clear that I was bothering her. They don't have a Total Body Enhancement Machine. The layout of the gym feels like one is crammed into a box. The stair masters are ancient. They don't have hydromassage beds but have the uncomfortable loungers instead.

I was working out at the Newburyport Planet Fitness on a Friday night and finished my run on the treadmill about 10–15 minutes before closing. My AirPod fell out, landed on the treadmill, and flew somewhere out of sight. I searched for about 10 minutes, and by then the gym was closing.
Instead of rushing me out at 9:00, George and Amy stayed and helped me look until my AirPod was found. They were incredibly kind and truly put effort into helping me. It’s staff like this that can turn a stressful moment into a positive one and really make someone’s day. I truly appreciated them and will be coming back here more often!

It is clean and there are two of almost every machine I want to use. I am new and I am not sure I understand the organization yet. However, I have the black card membership and i get to use the hydromassage. I hope one day they get the red light. The patrons seem friendly and they clean the machines. As of today I have changed my home gym location. My displeasure started a few months ago when they rearranged the layout and got rid of machines. The new gym equipment is definitely a step down they got rid of a lot of machines and treadmills. Now when I go the treadmills are always full and you have to wait at times for one to open up. They kept asking for members to let them know what they thought of the new layout and when my mom did the management was not receptive at all. I also find the blonde manager to be a bit rude, not warm or welcoming when I’ve had to deal with her. There is also a teenager or two who works at night and their friends come and just hangout at the front desk which is super unprofessional when it’s for hours at a time and a bit disruptive for check in. I will be going to seabrook or other locations from now on.

This gym is too impersonal for my taste, so I moved over to the Amesbury location. But my late husband had his account at Newburyport. After his death in May 2024, had to go there in person to close his account. When the middle-aged bleach blond at the counter finally noticed I was standing there, she looked at me and said "What?" (I guess it was super annoying that I needed her help) - I told her my husband had passed away and I needed to close his account. With zero reaction, she said "Name?" and then made a few clicks on her computer and without even looking at me said, "All set". No condolences or niceties. End of discussion. She walked away, and I turned and left - completely shocked.

This experience reminded me why I quit going there and switched to the Amesbury location. If you like an impersonal experience where they don't care about you, go to the Newburyport Planet Fitness. You won't be disappointed.

I've been a member for 20 plus years. Love location and people. Excesize has been my life trying to stay healthy as possible to live as well as possible Planet Fitness provided that at an incredible price with exceptional workout quality , machines and knowledgeable staff. Clean gym with super friendly staff.
Recently there was new gym equipment installed and it is a step down from what it was. The machines they do have are nice but dropping down from 4 to 3 smith machines is going to make them even more difficult to get a turn on. One less cable tower behind them too will be tough. I felt like those were some of the most used machines.
Side note: not many places to do a pull up either.
Hopefully they’re not done installing the new equipment and there is more to come.

I was trying to do the 30-minute circuit, and there are people using the machine randomly and don't allow to the people who try to do the circuit to do our workout. We need the employees to do more runs and make sure that the only person using that area is the 30-minute workouts. The guy in my next machine didn't want to leave the machine for me to do next. I'm tired of that. Sometimes we only have less than 1 hour to training and that people just make your day a nightmare.

Its a two star only because there are three tanning booths and two of them the bulbs are out.. no way you can tan in there. The third one is awesome but that last 3 times i came in someone already booked it .. I asked when they are going to replace the bulbs and they said they would not replace the bulbs until the third booth bulbs die as well. Please fix this ASAP! Otherwise everything else is great

Susan was rude and aggressive. We tried to come work out and shower and because the guest didn't want a picture taken she didn't let us come in. We've been to over 50 locations and have had multiple memberships for 8+ years and never had an issue. A young male worker just sat on the counter behind her and did nothing to help the situation. Guest was willing to provide ID and the pi ture after showering but she refused to let us in. Provided my bank account routing number and account number for billing. Even though I put everything in correctly, their system could not find the information to debit my account. In the meantime, I got Covid. I got an email saying they couldn’t process my payment but I was too sick to respond. Long story short, they charge my American Express the $10 monthly fee plus a $15 penalty and refused to waive the penalty. When I said I wanted to cancel the membership, they told me they would only do it in person, not over the phone. The only reason I got it canceled over the phone was I said I had Covid and would be right in. Rip-off artists!

No pizza night. Covid is over. Tootsie rolls?. I think your company saved plenty of money. Locker rooms here are filthy. Go to the last stall in the men's room and look at all the drain flies on the ceiling and dead on the shower stalls. Drains probably haven't been lifted and clean in decades. Shower curtain disgusting. Planet fitness is getting worse day by day. Shower and stall doors are gross . I will update pictures since management is so pathetic, maybe this will help them realize paying more than minimum is how you attract good talent and flexibility. We'll see if they listen and read my reviews. Clean this gym or hire someone who will.

Courteous and helpful staff make this facility one that I regularly attend. Honestly the equipment isn't as good as virtually any other PF I have been to but I'll keep coming back because the people are very nice, it's a short commute, and I don't require many machines for my workout. Repairing machines (some have been out a long time) and swapping out old ones would be my recommendation. Otherwise a very good facility.

Solid planet fitness location with a really friendly staff when I walked in. My visit was brief as I passed through town, but I would happily stop again. I signed up my teenage son. Good location and plenty of parking. They have many available Machine to work out. The gym is clean and have many cleaning stations. You can get a full workout cardio and weight training. Unfortunately in the newburyport location right now they don’t have a personal trainer but I heard they are hiring very soon. The pandemic was not helping any of the gyms.

Regularly crowded and a lot of the people working out here are your typical planet fitness gym goers (either only doing cardio for hours on end or trying to work out and not knowing what they are doing with no one to give them direction or help) the staff here are polite so that's a plus. The amesbury one is a little nicer overall in my opinion especially since they at least have one pair of 80 lbs dumbbells

Planet fitness needs more women on staff. The ladies locker room needs to be attended to every several hours. There was trash and toilet paper all over the floor. Sanitary disposal containers full. The sinks and surrounding area need to be wiped clean. The front of the treadmills are covered in dust and sweat drips.

Nice mixture of cardio equipment, free weights and weight machines. You go in, go out, no one bothers me and that is all I ask.

Newburyport PF is always clean and disinfectant spray and paper towels always available to clean your machine. I bring my own hand sized towel every day to cut down on waste. Plenty of parking and despite a previous review, I don't mind machines facing the parking lot, not sure what "Massachusetts Trash" he was referring to?

Make sure you know exactly when your annual fee is charged when you sign up for these companies that don't have any humanity to them!
We've been Black card members for over 6 years and needed to cancel the membership due to leaving the country. Ironically, we cancelled four days after the unknown cut-off date before an auto-annual fee is taken out.

Of course there is no alert given about your upcoming annual membership being renewed and the $39 payment coming out. They just do it.

When I called to explain, they said they can't refund it. I don't believe a word of it. They could but they won't. That is the lazy, usurious, unscrupulous answer they give. Even though no one will be using the membership for the next year, they don't care. They say their payment company can't do it. In this day and age, a refund can't be given under unusual circumstances? Not true.

And the say, "Oh, well we can let you come back for free!" Why would I come back when you have no integrity or principles??
