I absolutely enjoy Planet Fitness in Salem. It is managed by Eddie who was an outstanding young man who has a great team that greet you every time you walk in with a smile ,ask you how your day is what you’re working on and if there’s anything they can do for you .the atmosphere is friendly clean and inviting. I've been coming here for a while, and unfortunately, the atmosphere and customer satisfaction have declined to such an extent that problems are not recognized or addressed. It's a shame to exercise in a place that no longer fosters a welcoming environment for training with peace of mind and confidence. In the afternoon, it gets crowded and problematic. The employees needs retraining on paying more attention to the surroundings and stay aware of what is happening around the premises.

I just started going to the Planet Fitness in Salem, and honestly, I’m loving it!

The vibe here is super chill, and I never feel intimidated, which is a huge plus for me.

The equipment is always clean and well-maintained, so I can focus on my workout without worrying about anything else. Plus, the staff is really friendly and always ready to help if you have questions.

The bathrooms in this particular Planet Fitness are disgusting. They need bleach, they need proper flushing toilets. The floors have not been cleaned in a very long time. They smell.
I have been in other Planet Fitness’s and this one is horribly dirty.

Good gym, people leave you alone, there's no wandering training trying to talk to you and members are incredibly well educated in the art of the 1 second look, as in, as there . Moving to there next piece of equipment they may scan the area and of course any people in it (for comparison of reference, whatever) but nobody ever lingers with there looks, you may be part of someone's "eye scan" but never the subject of a "stare" (depending on what your wearing). I wear my work clothes there and I don't get stared at, it's impressive because nobody has ever mentioned this courtesy when signing up, it's as if it's an evolutionary trait lol. The bathrooms are always clean as well as the equipment. We all know planet fitness is like "the peoples gym" the cost doesn't squeeze out the gentrified and they have tanning which if you use that 1-3 times a month that pays for the membership! Those tanning boutiques charge like 40 for like 1 session. But I'll be honest with what I've seen, it's clean, it's quiet, it's safe, woman arnt harassed and your left alone and it's only 25$ a month for something that pieced apart should run you at least 80$

I love coming to my PF in Salem, Va. The staff are always cleaning and greeting people and they always say goodbye when you leave. I particularly like Darion. She is the friendliest one there. She always greets me with a big smile. I have seen her several times working with elderly people that come in to join and she’s just so encouraging when she teaches them how to use the equipment and talks to them. She’s very vested in her job and she does a great job at the Salem Planet Fitness center.
It is nice to have a place close by to work out and you see your friends there too.

After having an atrocious experience at the Lynn location, I came here. Infinitely better. Amazingly clean, well lit location. I walked in super upset from my bad experience at the other location, and the front desk here not only listened to my woes but they were super validating. They showed me around the studio, including the new machines. Bathrooms were spotless I saw several employees cleaning at multiple intervals. Black card spa spotless. Amazing. Edwin was great in particular. I felt much safer here even though it was still busy and a little crowded, and I didn't feel judged at all. I will be calling the other studio tomorrow to transfer my membership to this one. Do yourself a service and come to this location! Salem is the best. Better parking too.

Planet Fitness Salem is an exceptional gym. It has the latest equipment that is well maintained. The staff is friendly and the gym is very clean. It has a welcoming atmosphere for all levels of fitness and I really enjoy being there so I go often. My health insurance has a fitness benefit which is an additional plus. This gym has earned a 10 rating.

This planet fitness doesn’t have hot water on the middle of winter. If you are planning on working out and taking a shower before you get your car, do not sign up for this location. Manager doesn’t have an idea what to say to people and there is only a female representative therefore she can’t come in and check what may be wrong with the heater.

I like the planet, but this one of Salem is in need of cleaning, a lot of dust in everything, the devices, especially the treadmills are with a lot of accumulated dirt. There are hairballs all over the floor, apparently the Vaccum is not passed for days.

Dishonest staff:
I had to use the bathroom today but all the stalls were occupied. I waited some time before asking staff if there was any other bathroom I could use. They insisted there was not and I had to run all the way to Target, barely making it.

I looked up the building permits later (which list the bathroom fixtures installed) that day and sure enough there are enough fixtures to indicate a third bathroom the staff insisted didn’t exist. If you’re going to have a gym this big you might want to have more than two toilets per bathroom. Just a thought.

I love the sweat. I love being with fellow members who are working our butts off like me. I love the family atmosphere that Joshua brings to this place, the manager, who has all the employees there, help you feel like your family when you come, and when you leave. I end each work out with their Hydro massage, courtesy of being a black card member which I’ve been since 2004. I go to planet fitness all over the country. When I travel I get that same feeling anywhere I go. the purple and gold brand supports and inspires me and has since 2000.

I originally joined Planet fitness in Greenfield Mass BIG MISTAKE! I was treated badly & loved the equipment BUT the staff are young & I mistakenly thought that explained the rudeness & as far as "JUDGMENT FREE " they forgot to mention that depends on your address, mine was (due to my wife of 17yrs passing) a homeless shelter & WOW they are judgmental, now here's the difference I moved back to salem & in a shelter but ,the staff at the salem location are SO NICE & FRIENDLY AND NOT AT ALL JUDGMENTAL, they truly live up to the phrase "JUDGMENT FREE" & the fact that Salem is open 24/7 is incredible, I was made to feed SO UNCOMFORTABLE in Greenfield (Planet fitness) I contemplated NOT keeping my members active, after coming to SALEM PLANET FITNESS, I WILL NEVER LET MY MEMBERSHIP EXPIRE.
Other locations could, would & should LEARN from SALEM PLANET FITNESS.
