So far I've been to this location three times and saw a mouse during two of those visits. I only go because it's close by and has convenient hours, but it's the dirtiest gym I've ever been to in the US... and I've lived in three different states. I'll probably switch to another location soon. Hopefully the others are better (it would be hard for them to be worse).

Also the equipment takes several weeks to be serviced. The seated leg press has been down for at least 2 weeks.

I used to be super happy with this location (the staff is very friendly and helpful) but after a recent renovation half the equipment is gone. This gym is already insanely busy and now the wait time has gone up exponentially. In addition to the limited equipment, many machines are constantly broken. I also want to note that there are several trainers clearly running personal training sessions and taking up floor space. I want everyone to be able to get a workout in whatever way they see fit, but it is super disruptive when there are large groups of people standing around one machine. Hoping that maybe more equipment is coming, but so far it seems like that is not the case.

Seems to be getting a lot of new equipment, great hours, and friendly staff.

But the amount of cable attachments are unacceptable. There are no short bars, short curved bars, extra long bars, or long neutral grip bars. Very confusing… the attachment rack is nearly completely empty. Has been like this for quite a while even before they started getting new machines.

I loved the place until they renovated the Watertown location. I used to be able to do a full-body workout on ten pieces of equipment in 30 minutes in a special area dedicated to that.
After the renovation, I could work on only six pieces of equipment and when people are on their cell phones, it can take longer than 30 minutes.

I used to love this place. But, a couple of weeks ago, they did a remodel. Now it is no fun. They got rid of several of the machines. Including duplicates of popular ones. Now there simply aren't enough machines for the number of people who are there. The problem is exacerbated by a culture of people camping on machines, using their phones.

They need to do two things: Bring back machines. There is room. Just do it. Put up signs about machine hogging. I almost want them to say something like, "Machines are not couches. No phones while on machines."

After bathing there, the towel starts to smell bad the next day. A towel that gets wet there starts to smell bad the next day. This suggests there's a problem with the water. Is there sediment at the bottom of the tank? If so, it could be producing bad gases. Furthermore, if the water contains a high amount of organic matter, that could also be causing the odor.

Bad planet fitness. Very dirty and old equipment. Im a black card member and have been to A LOT. Most planets have been renovated several years ago. This one still has the old equipment (that is often broken and takes several weeks to fix) it is obviously a very popular planet fitness. A shame the owner does not put more back into this location.

Facility itself is ok and employees are nice. Problem is that they allow people to sit INDEFINITELY on machines USING THEIR PHONES INSTEAD OF DOING REPS.

I do feel sorry for people who are so lonely that they hang out in the gym even if not there to actually work out. But they should go to a coffee shop instead of using machine benches as a lounge chair.

It’s discourteous and it wastes the time of people who are there to actually work out. Lift weights or move on!

I'm from overseas and have often felt embarrassed in gyms. I have to say this place has been a nice change for me. Staff are friendly, polite, welcoming - always happy to try and answer questions as best they can. Sometimes machines do break down, but they are often replaced or fixed in a few days. Place is clean and all sorts of folk use it and I have yet to see mockery or judgement of anyone. Only got this as a way to stay fit indoors in the cold months - but am going to keep my membership year round now. Great deal too

As a lover of all things p fitty I find this one to be a little lackluster. (I used to go to the gym that was here prior to p fitty and know the layout)

Parking lot: ample parking. Even with the supermarket it’s far enough away that you can almost always find a spot.

Location: not easy to get to unless you’re in the area. The “circle of death” above the crown plaza is near by as well as Watertown sq and Waltham. During rush hour it can get pretty trafficy in this area.

Layout: it’s big and set up in a large circle. Things are far away from each other. Locker rooms are far far back. Not horrible but not my favorite. It kind of has a basement gym feel to it which I like but also gets a little cavey.

Equipment: didn’t find anything broken. Has standard spa and recovery treatments. They do not have bands or neck protectors for the smith machine. Some places you have to get them at the desk. I didn’t ask so maybe they are there. They don’t have have size dumbbells.

Facilities: kinda a mess. Couldn’t find attachments or even where they go. Could clean the floor up a bit. The bathroom had broken sinks. It was pretty gnarly. I took pictures.

Average p fitty. I’ll come back but I understand it’s limitations.

Solid gym with everything you need. All the essential machines and free weights are here, and they're well-maintained. No frills or unnecessary extras, just a straightforward place to get your workout done. Equipment is in good shape and rarely out of order. Thieves. They make it impossible to cancel your membership. My nephew (UNDERAGE) was signed up online with my bank account information Oct 2023. The person who did the sign up didn’t know the age limit and I live in Atlanta GA. When my nephew went they denied him immediately. I asked them to cancel because he is UNDERAGE. They asked me to come in or send a guardian I cannot because I live out of state. I sent my sick dad in to cancel on my behalf and they told him I have to be there in person. After continuously calling they asked me to send an email to cancel. I sent the email May 30, no response after following up I’m told again I have to come in or either send certified mail. My nephew is denied access. They have been still taking money out of my account and now trying to force me to pay certified mail to cancel. They are theives. He is underage which is against your policy so this should be canceled immediately regardless. We had no issues paying, it’s the fact that he cannot use it and I’m being charged

If you want to go to the gym for free, that’s the only plus side of this location. Nobody is at the front desk half the time because it’s so understaffed. The equipment is always broken because everybody in here is on the phone and slamming stuff around. Everything is always broken or gross, even for planet fitness standards. And the issue is that they see this and ask us to email the people letting this happen on the day to day.

I drive 20 minutes coming to this gym, because not only there is lots of equipments and I usually don't have wait for machines. staff has been friendly so far and haven't had any problems. I see people complaint about shower area not being sanitary, but which gym's shower area is sanitary? unless you go to high end gyms which on average you should pay $100 or more every month and not $12. overall, I am happy with this particular location. just keep the machines maintained so they won't break down.

Ok, this place is generally great in terms of staff friendliness. I’ve been attending this gym for years now, however, and in the past year or so, the place has really decreased in cleanliness and general upkeep. Here are a few things I have noticed that are easy areas for improvement:

1. The towels for wipe-down are often placed right next to the dispensers. It only takes one extra step of installing them.

2. The water fountain is often super dirty, with mold and orange grime. Makes me feel pretty uncomfortable about drinking water or refilling my own.

3. The bathrooms could use some help. I can smell urine from the men’s room almost constantly—outside of it, when I’m working out.

Update: given the response to my review, I am wondering why it’s my responsibility to take the next steps and email someone when the Planet fitness team has access to my specific complaints and the email, itself.

The men’s bathroom is absolutely disgusting. The smell is so nauseating you can barely wash your hands without gagging. It radiates out of the bathroom to at least 50% of the gym space to the point it’s hard to work out. I don’t understand how hard it would be to wash the floor once a day.

Yes, in 2023, the only way to cancel a membership for me is to send an actual letter mail, not an email.

The workout equipment is fine, but the locker room area is extremely unsanitary. There’s a foul smell not only inside the bathrooms and locker room, but outside of them in the hallways and the lower level of the gym. The smell is a mix of mold and sewage, which can’t be healthy to be breathing in. Complaints have been raised to management, and they still haven’t taken appropriate action. Every time I’m there, I hear other members of the gym complaining about this as well. As another reviewer also mentioned, there are flies in the bathroom sinks and on the walls. Something needs to be done about the cleanliness and the smell of this gym ASAP.

The people that worked there have been told about it so many times and they just ignore you and spray some Lysol, LYSOL IS NOT GONNA DO IT. Simple, easy to access gym. Good value for your $. Staff is always friendly. They just put in new cardio machines which is cool.

No real complaints when it comes to the equipment. Pretty standard PF. However, the men’s locker room is disgusting. You can smell them before you even walk in. The whole locker room smells like sewer gas. The showers are infested with flying bugs. There is a leak somewhere that causes water to stand in the changing area. There doesn’t seem to be any ventilation which has caused the wood lockers to swell and not open and close correctly.
