Dude on the phone tried hanging up on me immediately before I even got a word out. Was going to ask about the dumbbell. Called 3 times he did this each time. Clearly he just hates his job, but a poor look for the business in general.

Equipment is fine. Gym is pretty dirty and doesn’t seem like it’s cleaned often. Bathroom is usually out of soap or paper towels which is pretty gross since equipment is shared. Has a lot of potential but ownership doesn’t seem to care

I used to go to the YMCA for years, but I switched to this gym because it’s closer and offers everything I need—at half the price! I’ve been coming here 3 times a week for the past six months without missing a day, which is the most consistent I’ve ever been with my workouts.

The gym can get busy at times, so I usually go early in the morning or late at night to avoid waiting for equipment. My routine is about 40 minutes of weights and 20 minutes of cardio, and I leave feeling great. Overall, it’s been an awesome experience!

It would be good if it was a 24-hour gym with 100% camera monitoring, each having their own key to have access in front of the gym if it was 24 hours

I joined Northeast Health & Fitness a few years ago for the sole reason of attending group exercise classes. I quickly learned that the instructors were all AMAZING as were the classes that they taught. Bonus factors were that your gym was located close enough to my home making it convenient, and the group fitness schedule meshed with my unpredictable work life.

Recently, I was dismayed and frustrated to learn that I must now pre-register for group fitness classes and that classes will be canceled with less than a certain number of people registered. Sadly, for me, this will not work most of the time. My work schedule is sporadic at best and does not afford me that flexibility.

Furthermore, under the recent ownership change, the membership costs were increased, however, I’m not sure for what reason? The overall experience has become increasingly frustrating. First, there is a lack of equipment available for the group fitness classes, and the limited equipment that is available is shoddy at best (plastic peeling off barbells and weights, etc…). The basketball court where the group fitness classes are held is a good size however the area where the equipment is stored is unkempt most of the time. I hope Northeast Health & Fitness will reconsider this pending shift in group class registration whose only purpose will frustrate and alienate members. There are definitely better gyms that prioritize customer service, cleanliness, and member experience.

I’ve been going to this gym for three years, and I keep coming back because it’s the only gym in the area that offers Les Mills classes. The instructors are fantastic—they genuinely make an effort to encourage everyone, regardless of age or ability, and they take the time to learn everyone’s names, which makes the atmosphere feel really welcoming. I love that there is a class offered every day and have lost weight and gained muscle thanks to that.

However, the gym’s maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. As shown in the photos, the class space is not well maintained—the air vents are covered in dust, the walls are cracking with plaster falling out, and the room is never cleaned so there’s dust everywhere. It’s gotten to the point that I get dust in my eyes and throat while working out. The equipment used for the classes, such as the barbells, have been falling apart since I joined and we have to share equipment to get through classes sometimes which is a little pathetic.

Overall, while the classes and instructors are excellent, the lack of facility maintenance and cleanliness is really disappointing. I’m not sure why the business has chosen to ignore a whole set of clients who otherwise are clearly loyal. If this changes, I’ll be sure to revise this post.

Can a gym be closed on every public holiday? What kind of nonsense is this? Is this a government office or something? Everywhere else is open, but this place is closed. I’m so fed up. I’m going to cancel my membership.

I thought that since there is a new owner that this gym would get the upgrades and attention that is well over due. But alas, no! I've asked about new mats and exercise bands - both not high ticket items - but so far, no. I asked if the old and tattered TRX's will be replaced, no. The carpeting in the women's locker room stinks! The new paint on the walls looks good but that's not where the quality counts. This place has so much potential (hence the 2 stars) but the new owners only seem to care about security cameras and a useless charging station (out in the open where a phone could be easily snatched). Please put your money where it counts and soon!!

I’m sad because I’ve been going to this gym for years out of convenience. Whatever cheap stuff they use to patch up their benches.. has ruined hundreds of dollars of my clothes and shoes. I avoid certain machines now because I know the patches on the leather will rub off on me. Invest in minor things….

This place has a lot of potential but ownership doesn’t seem to care much about the state of the gym. To start, there’s only one water bubbler in the entire place and it’s the farthest spot away from all the equipment and its filter is typically not in working order. The sauna goes down and typically doesn’t get fixed for an extended amount of time. Sometimes months. Equipment isn’t greased and equipment will go down and not get fixed for extended periods. For $38 a month, I feel like things should get fixed sooner. Not to mention they charge you a 13th month “maintenance” fee and the above issues still persist. In my time there (2.5 years) the only new equipment I’ve seen is cardio equipment which I ve never seen more than half the treadmills being used at a time. Overall it’s a big space and I feel like it could be better utilized. The only positive is that the staff there is really nice but they can only do so much in this situation.

I had an incredible experience at North East Health and Fitness in Quincy, and their personal training options are simply amazing. The facility is top-notch, with state-of-the-art equipment and a clean, inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to assist. What sets them apart is their personalized approach to fitness. The personal trainers are exceptional, tailoring workouts to individual needs and goals. With their guidance, I've achieved results I never thought possible. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced fitness enthusiast, the personal training options at North East Health and Fitness are second to none. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to achieve their wellness goals with expert guidance and support.

I would rate the gym higher but the thin, blonde, older woman at the front desk was absolutely rude. Your front desk person should be representative of the vibe of the establishment. I was visiting as a guest and barely acknowledged me on my way in, took my money and sent me on my way. On the way out, no “thank you”, no “have a good day”. I’ve never felt more unwelcome by a front desk staff member at a gym.

For such an expensive gym you would expect better equipment, locker rooms, and service. Constantly adding on hidden fees and rules like having to give notice to terminate membership- as if it's an apartment lease??? Charged me while my membership was paused and even the monthly fee is higher than advertised online.

I think this gym has everything you need and some and I’ve also felt pretty safe since being back from the pandemic shut down. You have plenty of space to work out and lots of machines/free weights/barbells too where you never feel like you have to wait around for other people to finish. If you’re looking for the shiniest, newest things in the gym world, you won’t find it here, but if you’re just looking for a good, local gym to get a solid workout in with no one bothering you, NEHF is it. Staff is friendly and helpful as well!

Nice clean facility. The regulars & staff are respectful. Only drawbacks are the hours aren’t as available as some other gyms, basketball court is almost always never available due to classes , and the work out area is a little small and lacks some machines. Only bad thing- You can get people who take over bars for extended periods of time while they talk instead of lifting

The gym itself is fine but I totally do no agree with their business practices. When I went to cancel, The contract states that you have to give a 30 day notice from the last withdrawal date to cancel. My fault for not understanding it fully, but for instance I canceled my membership on 12/21 so one would assume the 1/1 payment would be the last monthly withdrawal date. Nope they said I would have had to have told them by 12/1 to have the 1/1 date as the last withdrawal, date. So basically no matter what date you cancel , you have to pay a extra month. When I tried to dispute it, they said it was the bank not them (not true) And I could still use the gym another month which is totally not the point. I have been a member at many gyms and never had this expierence. I have also worked at two gyms and never heard of this. I fully expected the 1/1 payment to come out canceling 12/21, but to still come out 2/1 is insane. So lesson learned but just wanted to warn other people. I would never refer anyone here because of that. Just totally shady.

I would absolutely not recommend going here. The mens locker room had a tremendously bad smell and they had no interest in fixing this during our time at the gym. We ended up cancelling because of it and they hassled me over the phone and said they weren't willing to cancel over the phone. My wife went in and cancelled the membership and they still continue to bill us. I'm now taking this up with my bank as they have no interest in fixing the situation.

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had. Unwilling to work with you and Alex the person who "handles manager duties" was smug and inconsiderate. $39 dollar annual fee was thrown around like the Bible its self. He claimed to be a 4 year Navy Veteran but obviously had no appreciation for the service. I merely stated I had been deployed for 4 months and hadn't been there and was willing to eat nearly 100$ in fees and asked if he could do anything about the 39$. And he practically laughed in my face while thriving on a perceived position of power and be a total and complete **shole.

You're better off getting fat and lazy then to give this horrible establishment your money.

Many other gyms have the same equipment or better for a less expensive monthly membership and do not increase your payment later on without notice.

A few things I've noted in the past two years: First, there are many members that leave their sweat behind. I'm sure this happens in every gym, but if you want to compete with the three other gyms in a 2 mile radius then do something about it and stand out by enforcing this. Second, there is almost always extraneous noise coming from the Basketball court-- whether it be the music played during the fit classes or the squeaky shoes from the local games. The problem is they can't keep the doors shut due to the hot temp in the evenings during the post-work rush and the A/C can't cut it. Third, the music seems to be based on who works the desk each day. Some days there's a playlist made up of only classic rock, other times it will scream techno or dubstep all night long. Sure you could just put your headphones on if you're not feeling it, except the music is BLASTING and there is nothing you can do to drown it out. Change it up for pete's sake and use that shuffle button to give a wider variety.

Inconsistent Communication---
This takes the cake and is the main reason for this lengthy review. As you can see from the other reviews, I am not the only one experiencing this.

They up-charged everyone this past Spring without notice for new paint, flooring, benches, and that Octagon piece in the middle. We did not get a say. It's so great that they made their members pay for something without notice, but I didn't management go around and offer to show us how to use it. We should just figure out the new equipment ourselves since we agreed to pay for it and all, right?

Fees. Every gym has fees. The difference is HOW they are explained and how consistently. It sure doesn't make me feel like a valued customer to know that my coworker got her start-up fee waived and to hear that my neighbor got his membership discounted "because they knew somebody" while anyone else is told that this is policy and everyone gets treated the same.

Further more, when my fiancé was offered a job in another state and told we would have to move within the next two weeks, I immediately gave cancellation notice in person. I was told by Sarah we would still get charged for August, which I said I understood. Low and behold, as has clearly happened to other members according to reviews, my fiancé and I were both charged for September as well. When I called to inquire, first the rep said he couldn't find my file and immediately went over the cancellation policy verbatim without pausing to breathe. I explained when I gave notice in person that Sarah only mentioned we'd be charged for August/please sign here/good luck on your move... why was she not as descriptive in telling me there would be another month charged because I gave notice on the 25th instead of the 17th? He then had the manager call me later, and I was told the same thing again, verbatim, and there was NOTHING he could do. When I asked why people I know said they got this or that fee or charge waived, he said that's comparing apples to oranges, but they really try and be consistent and fair to everyone, and he wishes he could do more to help me. Well I wish that too, because had he been able to, I probably wouldn't have bothered to leave this lovely review.

Unreal! This gym is a disgusting rip off. The equipment is old, rusted, never fixed when broken. It is probably the dirtiest gym I have ever seen before. I don't think they have ever cleaned the locker room carpets. The lockers are all rusted out, the carpet is growing disease, and the sinks had puke in them one time I went in there. It literally should be inspected by the health department.
The double fee in March goes to NOTHING! They used it for 3 treadmills last year, and one of them has been broken for a month. It is pathetic! DO NOT JOIN THIS DUMP.
Honestly, this gym would be really really awesome if they kept up with it, Put tile in locker rooms, hire cleaners, fix equipment, make a stretching space thats big. They do have a huge variety of stuff, classes, and even a sweet full court gym to do workouts. I would go back if this was the case. I am just totally turned off by the cleanliness of this place.

Not very clean locker rooms. Some of the class instructors were in their own world (like Zumba) most of the time and didn't take the time to properly train the class. I had to PHYSICALLY GO IN to cancel my membership (which is absolutely ridiculous). If I can cancel my internet, Netflix, electric, or OIL without 'going in' to sign a cancellation form, I shouldn't have to do it at the GYM. -_-

FYI - Give TWO MONTHS notice before cancelling your membership and don't listen to a word their staff says because I was a member for over a year and when I moved and went in to cancel my account, the woman I spoke with said my balance was zero and I wouldn't get any more payments - find out weeks later when they charge me for the next month, that I needed to give 2 months notice before cancelling - so I'll be charged for the next two months for a membership I'm not using.

I'm not sure what gyms these other people have been to, but I've been to all the ones in Quincy and the next best place is in Weymouth and costs significantly more. Everyone is very friendly, the workout crowd isn't your ken and barbie types - more working professionals who do their thing in the gym and let you do yours, the locker rooms aren't the best but they are better than many Y's I have been to, they have a plethora of treadmills and machines for the cardio or bad strength routine inclined. For anyone who's actually into health, they have two squat racks, two power racks, and all the barbells you need. Plus its bloody cheap. Stop being a DYEL and go down to QAC and start.

Reading other reviews, it seems that folks looking for a high-class gym that costs a bundle, pampers you and probably has an overpriced protein smoothie bar somehow wandered into Quincy Athletic Club. They were disappointed.

The gym has two power racks, two squat racks, and round plates and therefore has everything one needs to get strong; It is also 10 dollars per month. So for 10 dollars a month I can strength train in a gym that is reasonably well kempt and has decent hours. Best gym in Quincy, by far.
