My favorite climbing gym in the city! Been climbing here for over a decade. They're really freat at hiring amazing staff. The space is super welcoming.
Lots of bouldering, with the best setup of different types of walls in my opinion! Some top roping, and plenty of auto belay climbs.
Get over here and have one of your best sessions!

Limited top rope climbing routes. Many autobelay stations which is nice if youβre into that, and annoying if youβre not. You run out of unique routes before you get tired.
I tried to buy a day pass in advance (same day I planned to use it) but it caused a bunch of issues at the front desk because it takes a βday to processβ. Ive never had this issue with day passes at other gyms. Flawed / outdated system.
This place is just ok / average for a rock climbing gym.

We love Rock Spot! My 9 and 6 year old boys have been taking classes and attending their camps for years and have always had a wonderful time. The staff do a great job of teaching the kids how to rock climb, safety and climbing grades while also having fun. We also pop in and just free climb some days and I am always impressed on how much they have improved.

My 6 year old attended the summer camp for 2 weeks. He loved every aspect of the camp. The counselors were fun, caring and really gave him great instruction on how to climb. For being a serious climbing gym, they were also very kid friendly. We loved the experience so much we have signed up for weekly climbing lessons.

My daughter just finished a week of summer vacation camp. She had so much fun climbing and making new friends. She said they climbed almost all day and was exhausted each day. I definitely recommend it for the kids climbing school vacation camp.

I was passing through on vacation, and decided to climb. Very large bouldering facility, there is plenty here for at least a couple of hours at your climbing level, no matter your level. I found the climbing grades to be well distributed, something for everyone. And a decent number of lower grades (B0-1-2 and V0) to get a feel for the route setters. I will just say there is consistency - V4>V3>V2>v1 and like most gyms there is some variation within the grades like there are easy V3 and hard V3.
There is a workout/warmup area, a kilter board. There are ropes walls, but not many - this is 90% for bouldering. There is a top out wall with a slide to get down, which is kind of unique and goofy. There are lockers to secure your stuff, there are gender neutral washrooms, a cold water fountain. All the usual features of a good gym.
Very recommended.

Best rock climbing in the greater Boston area hands down. Unfortunately, as the little number posted next to the climb gets higher, so too do the chances that the setters will have accidentally made the route impossible to climb

Staff are friendly, and guide you step by step on all the forms of climbing. The auto belay system is absolutely thrilling to try. Itβs a whole world in there. This was my first time climbing and I had a blast! I do wish there were more forms of beginner boldering stages however. Price for admission is worth it definitely.

I've been climbing with Rock Spot for several months now and I am very content with my membership! The staff is super friendly and caring, and also are great climbers themselves. Everybody I've interacted with here has been so positive and there is a great sense of community here. I was nervous about swapping gyms after moving here to Boston but the transition has been easy thanks to the great facility and helpful staff.
In terms of routes, although there is a wide variety of walls and setting, there is a lot more overhang than I have seen at most other gyms, with maybe more than 50% of the climbing surface area dedicated to overhang problems. Not necessarily an issue, but just something I noticed. I also find that the problems can be inconsistently graded at times - where I can do a few v5's on one week's problems while I can barely do any v4's on another week. It could just be something wrong with me though haha. Another minor nit is that sometimes the tags that indicate which holds are the start holds can fall off pretty easily and get lost on the climbing mats, which can make the beginning of some problems confusing.

This is an amazing gym. Dan and Max on staff are always friendly and willing to help, and give great tips and advice, and thereβs a healthy community atmosphere here. The routes are quite varied and usually feel like theyβre designed to teach good technique, with a lot of different ones that keep people coming back. I started climbing here and Iβve even brought a bunch of my friends here who hadnβt climbed before, and they almost without fail had fun and wanted to come back for more (and some do!). Itβs also some of the cheapest climbing Iβve found - keep an eye out on the promotions and youβll likely find yourself hooked before you know it.

Out of all the locations in MA, South Boston is the way to go! Thereβs an even and spacious amount of bouldering, auto belays and belays. Weekends is where you can book belay classes but you have to book 2 weeks in advance to sign up. Thank you Susan for being an amazing instructor. She was very clear and clean with her demonstrations. If you can request specifics, I highly recommend Susan. They also host birthday parties on the weekend. But best time to go would be evenings anytime throughout the week especially if you do not like crowds. Groups/parties is wildddd and I do not recommend attempting being around that because kids are running around everywhere. Other than that, I have the membership and itβs worth the price when I go 3-4 times a week. I love it. They have a parking lot and a couple of restaurants next door.

Blitzed in here before conference. So nice to have a local welcoming gym with auto belay.
Diverse routes, friendly staff, felt like home.
I was impressed by diverse equipment opportunities including treadwall and competition routes.

Overall a great place for bouldering and beginner top rope. I'm primarily a top rope climber and found the top rope section lacking for my climbing level (higher than 5.10s). For that I ended up bouldering a majority of the time spent there. It was awesome to work on some overhang projects which I typically don't get to do at the gyms I climb at back home. Staff was friendly and had no issues there.

LOTS of bouldering, pretty big gym, and a variety of different styles of problems, with emphasis on more overhang/incline/cave type routes than other rock gyms I've seen.
I like that they have 4 different beginner grades before getting to V0 difficulty, so that there's plenty of opportunity for gradual progress, if you're starting from scratch.
I visited from out of state, and difficulty up through V4 was roughly on-par with the grading at my home gyms.
There's also a small area of free weights, benches, and pullup bars. Has showers but no towel service.
I thought the price was good, for day pass and memberships both.

Great bouldering gym with friendly and communal vibe. This is a relatively large center (for the Boston metro area) with lots of problems and usually doesn't feel too crowded. The setting covers a lot of different styles and grades that are suitable for both beginners and more advanced climbers. There's also a moonboard and a spray wall linked with Stokt. It's close to the red line and has a free parking lot. I always bring new climbers to this gym for bouldering. There is a very small and short top rope area.

This gym is so much fun for bouldering. They have a good variety of different climbing styles and four caves - two that are deep for super fun and challenging routes.
For top rope climbing, this location is probably good for beginners and kiddos. There are a number of auto-belays and actually quite a bit of wall for the size of the section they have it in. The walls, though, are probably only 25 feet tall.
I highly recommend this gym for bouldering. The staff is awesome, they have great merch, and they stay open later then most. It's all wins for me.

This is a nice place with a lot of boulder options. Top rope and lead routes are very limited, and the ceilings are quite short. You can complete three top rope routes off of one auto belay before switching to another. The staff was very kind and accessible on a Thursday night.
If you're looking for an excellent gym to boulder, this is it. If you're looking for top rope or lead climbing, don't expect much.

I'm sorry I'm confused on this one I haven't climbed any rocks that I'm aware of except maybe the sidewalks of Boston which get Rocky sometimes I had knee surgery I might have walked up a hill but I'm really not sure what you're referring to? But I have been busy and about active the last few days invited to some singing places I'd love to share about! Next week is my Thursday surgery on my wrist which I damaged along other body parts may 2017 hopefully this is the beginning of things to come to write the wrongs of those things that happened in that unfortunate accident then God bless you all be safe from Boston! ππππΊπ¦π±π·

Nice gym, very old-school -- small holds and walls that look like stone/concrete. The setting here is the best I've seen in Boston. It really feels like you're climbing outside, and a lot of boulders are non-intuitive and require some effort to find the right beta.
The gym is a bit dark and gritty, but I liked the atmosphere. There is also some roped climbing (toprope, lead and autobelay), though the walls are very short. This is primarily a bouldering gym.

Great gym overall! I was visiting Boston for a couple weeks and found a deal on Groupon. I came in for the deal but ended up buying a month pass to enjoy for two weeks. It's a bit dark and gloomy inside but I really loved the route setting. They really make you figure out the beta. I also tried Boston Bouldering Project, where the space is much more pleasant, but the problems here were way more interesting and fun. They also have a #moonboard which was configured to the 2017 set during my visit. Fellow climbers and staff were super nice too, as to be expected in most climbing communities. Hope to be back one day!

After a few month of membership I have fallen in love with the sport. Some staff have been extremely helpful. However as of recent the experience has been rather unpleasant. Waiting at desks for 5-10 minutes at a time for food and gear has taken a toll on the limited climbing time that I have. This, along with smaller things like changes to the website leading to less accommodation for disability and convenience has led me to other gyms, frustratingly.

Love this place. Was in town and wanted a good session, and this place provided a lot of fun and challenging boulders. The grading system is also great - they have B1-B5 beginner grades thay are the easiest, and then the V0-V10 routes start after B5. So there is plenty for everyone, and the V grades feel less inflated than most gyms. There are large, long overhung boulders, and some good slab. They also have a moonboard and plenty of training equipment. Will definitely be back.

Rope climber here. The setting is fantastic. Super interesting movement at all grades, and it felt like movement on outdoor climbs. The setters make great use of the features of the walls, and unlike some gyms that seem to increase the difficulty only be decreasing the size of the holds or increasing the distance between them, the cruxes were varied and creative--like bouldering on ropes, really. And it *was* like bouldering on ropes: The walls are SHORT. I've clipped first bolts on outdoor sport routes that were higher. That said, I'd go back in a heartbeat for the setting.
