Welcome to The Pilates Studio – where age knows no limits. Our certified Pilates Instructors and friendly staff are here to assist you along the path to feeling your best. We offer customized private sessions, small group sessions, as well as mat and apparatus classes. The studio is a Polestar Pilates affiliate and hosts Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Trainings & continuing education courses for Polestar Pilates and OOV Education. Whether you are healing from an injury, chasing athletic milestones or somewhere in between, we're by your side. I’ve been coming to The Pilates Studio for over 12 years now and it is one of my top 3 favorite places in the Pioneer Valley! TPS offers a variety of group mat & reformer classes, small group, semi-private and private sessions seven days a week. Whether you are just starting out on your Pilates journey or a seasoned pro, there is something for everyone! All of the instructors are extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and really care about each client’s experience. They provide modifications if something just doesn’t work for your body and will celebrate right alongside you when you finally nail an exercise that you have been working on for weeks or months! I encourage anyone who is curious about Pilates to book a class and check out what the fuss is about. That’s what I did 12 years ago and I’m still here ☺️

My favorite exercise experience! As somebody with a hypermobility disorder, I’ve often had a hard time finding a movement practice that I can do consistently without injury. Pilates with instruction has been it! I have to thank Michelle especially for focusing on perfecting our form and breathing. When I first started, I assumed there were moves l was too weak to do, but as she reminds us, it’s not about strength, it’s about control. With the right form and breathing and warm-up, it’s possible. I’m stronger, I’m in less pain, and I have more body awareness and coordination. I really do look forward to each class! I love that it’s a mix of ages, abilities, and body types. It’s such a welcoming studio.

Life changing! I have had a daily yoga practice for many years and felt quite strong and flexible... but pilates has really helped me find muscles and body awareness that I wasn't able to access on a yoga mat. I was worried about all the equipment at first but now I absolutely love it. The pilates equipment (and Katrina's expert teaching!) provides feedback so I am able to really focus on using muscles that need waking up and this has made a huge difference for my SI and knee pain, which both go away when I am doing pilates at least once a week!

I was new to the reformer when I started class. It was intimidating but I appreciated the video that was posted about the reformer and the great communication with Julie. When I finally made it to a beginner class, Libby was so kind and welcoming. Abby was full of excitement and now I am lucky to have class with Maureen. She is kind, gentle and observant of my movements and what my body needs. She provides a gentle but guiding hand with moving into the proper pose to do an exercise. I returned to The Pilates Studio last week and will be there every week from now on. I am a senior citizen and trying to be very careful. I was instructed to use a secondary entrance that led right to the area where I worked out. My instructor and I wore our masks throughout, and there was hand sanitation available. The equipment was cleaned before I arrived and was available only to me during the 50 minutes I was there. I felt completely safe during my session with Katrina and, although I had not worked with her previously, she quickly discovered what I needed to work on. I highly recommend The Pilates Studio.

Laurie and Katrina (and Mark) completely remodeled the studio to create carefully distanced, self-sufficient stations that allow us to stay in one place for all the things we previously did on multiple devices. They really worked hard to rearrange furniture, add shelves, repaint walls, set up cleaning stations, and organize supplies for easy personal access. I felt entirely confident that I would not be exposed to anyone else and could do my regular workout with Katrina's guidance.

I returned to The Pilates Studio last week (after the Covid19 break) and could not be more comfortable with all the positive changes they have made. The are paying close attention to keeping germs at bay and keeping their customers safe. The machines have a good amount of distance between them. I’m an athlete and always have been and Pilates is the only fitness regime I’ve ever done that has truly toned my body and made me more flexible by working those smaller muscles that tend to be forgotten about! The live, in person, classes are ideal but given the current public restrictions due to COVID-19, the studio has had to adapt and are now offering many online classes. These classes are available live or as replays. I attend more classes now that ever before because I can access the replays at any time if I am not able to join a live class. The live online classes (intermediate mat class) offer a Q&A session after each class in order to keep connected with their clients and offer guidance to those who need it which helps to personalize the experience. The Pilates Studio is great and I Thank them for keeping me fit!

I started going to The Pilates Studio in Hadley about a year ago, thinking that it would make me look a little thinner and more in shape. Now a year later, I do look a little thinner (at least I did before the pandemic made me stay home and eat more). But Pilates has given me more benefits that I didn't expect, especially better balance, which is important as I get older. I was very attached to all my activities from Before, and then when they all shut down I thought, 'Well, tele-Pilates is better than nothing.' After more than two months, I can't believe how much better and stronger I feel! My body clearly needed Pilates more than some of the other things I was doing (I'm lookin' at you, eliptical machine). I started going to The Pilates Studio in Hadley a little over a year ago. I had been battling numerous nagging injuries for a while and could never find a solution. I tried regular gym workouts, running, acupuncture, massage - all sorts of things.

With regular Pilates workouts I have said goodbye to the plantar fasciitis that had plagued me for over a year. And my back, neck and shoulders feel better than they have in years.

Here's a note for the guys out there. Yes, you'll see more women than men at The Pilates Studio. Don't be afraid of any ideas you might have of it not being a "manly" workout. It's really great for building strength and flexibility - you can work as hard as you want! Plus, working out with women is such a better experience - no sweaty, grunting dudes!

Lastly, the staff is terrific. They are so well trained, so knowledgeable, and incredibly focused on making sure you get the workout you need to meet your goals. I've become a lifelong fan!!!

After sustaining an injury deep in my hip at the gym I developed chronic pain and discomfort in my knee. Three months of twice a week PT did not help, and the PT agreed I should try Pilates. I moved from NYC and was sad to leave my pilates instructors there, but I'm so happy I found such a good new pilates home here. I've done private sessions, small groups, and classes with almost all of the instructors, who all have uniquely effective ways to help me improve my posture, strength, flexibility, and stability. I've never seen or used such a diverse collection of equipment and props, or a group of teachers so eager to invent new ways to benefit from them all. There's a great sense of friendly community spanning all ages and fitness levels, and I'm always excited to walk in the door.

I have worked with Nate on many occasions. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and has great recommendations whenever I ask about solving specific issues. He is very aware of safety (I’m not an athlete but trying to be more active). Nate has also worked with my 14 y.o. son who IS an athlete, who first came to Pilates 6 years ago due to a congenital back defect that has been almost completely corrected through Pilates core strengthening. He now looks forward to his weekly training to improve his soccer game. Nate is a wonderful teacher and really awesome to work with!

As an occupational therapist, I chose the Polestar Comprehensive series( taught by The Pilates Studio) because Polestar emphasizes foundational skills of movement and creates movement that is functional to each individual. Stability before mobility is essential to all types of movement. With Polestar's instruction, I can teach Pilates to anyone who walks through my door. My daughter and I both had private sessions at the Pilates Studio. I have been exercising most of my life but I had never tried Pilates. I was very impressed with the instructor's ability to evaluate my needs, finding all the tight and weak muscles, and then having me use exactly the machines to help out my system. I'm not usually a fan of machines but these were really fun and effective. My daughter was having pain running in soccer and Katrina did a running session with her, evaluating her gait and giving her exercises to do, and within a couple weeks of using the exercises my daughter's pain went away. The staff here are super knowledgeable, friendly and effective and I highly recommend them!

Katrina (from the Pilates Studio) is a highly skillful and experienced Pilates instructor. She is very knowledgeable in her field, yet able to explain things to others in simple, easy to understand language. As a result she is now a respected trainer of other Pilates instructors, many of whom she employs at her center. I have come to know a couple of her instructors quite well and they are, without exception, wise and wonderful women!

Katrina is warm, approachable and empowering in her approach to Pilates. I know several people who have done ongoing work with Katrina and have had excellent results with their physical issues. I also know a local chiropractor who regularly refers clients to Katrina because she is able to further the healing that he begins.

I highly recommend Katrina and any of the instructors at the Pilates Studio that she employs.

My instructor Kay Cowperthwait didn't come to Pilates by way of Pilates, she came to it after playing every other sport under the sun-- ice hockey, running, cycling, golf, tennis and swimming. I've used Pilates to help strengthen my body for other sports, and having Kay know all the activities (and their associated strains) makes her the perfect person to structure my sessions for my best benefit. She has also helped tremendously to combat the damage done by sitting at a desk all day! She is funny and kind and supportive, and boy, does she know what she's doing!

I recently took the introduction to the machines at the Pilates Studio in Hadley, MA. The class instructor, Holly, was very thorough and professional, giving us all time to understand the exercises and how to use the equipment. I left thinking it was a good thing to do. Today I had my first private session with Maureen. She was very responsive and easy to work with. Part of the process is for her to figure out how I am using my body. When my neck hurt, she quickly modified the tasks to prevent further straining. It feels like this will be a really useful process! I recommend the training and this studio highly!

Suzanne is great. She filled in for Katrina for our family Pilates session while Katrina was out of town.
