I just came in to look around and asked to check my weight, but they refused and didn’t even let me in because I’m not a member. Didn’t let me see the gym at all. The most unfriendly gym I’ve ever seen – shame on them.

I was a member here years ago when they were in Waltham. I cancelled when they moved to Newton but I recently decided to go back and went in to sign up.. First of all, there was no one at the front desk when I walked in. After waiting 10 minutes and no one showing up, I decided to just look around myself. On my way out, there was a lady at the front desk talking on her cell phone and ignoring me. When she finally looked up I asked her about the memberships. She said she couldn’t help me and I would have to come back to speak to a manager. I came back in the afternoon and again there was no manager. I called 3 days in a row to speak to a manager and left messages and the manager never called me back. All I can say is that this place has really gone down hill and you can find a gym that actually wants your business!

I work with David Salter as my personal trainer at this gym and it’s been a great experience. He has helped me hit all of my goals and then some. He came up with great workout plans and switched them up for different focuses and needs and they have worked great. I would highly recommend David to anyone looking for a personal trainer.

Literally the AC has been broken since last summer, they havnt fixed it. I have emailed management. They never responded. The upstairs where the weights are has been over 90 degrees for weeks which isn’t legal per osha for there employees nor is it for the guests. Its clear they don’t care

The only reason this place is getting more than one star is because the close proximity to my apartment and that’s about it…. Besides the convenience, this place got nothing really going for it. From the cleanliness or lack there of, to the inconvenient temperatures ( seemingly 100 degrees up stairs no matter the temperature outside ), the majority of clientele being 15 year olds, the broken mirror that seemingly has went unnoticed for months, the broken lockers and clogged toilets in the changing room… however, as bad as all that is it doesn’t compare to the horrible hours ( closes at 4 and 5pm on weekends ) or the even worse parking situation . On top of your membership fees they fail to tell you when you sign up that you have to pay for parking ( $2.00 ). Not the type to usually write reviews but after seeing countless 5 star reviews I had to speak up. Do better WOW, your old Waltham location was the best

save your money and go to the Y or planet fitness bc the wow corporation is raising prices with no explanation and breached contract of the agreed upon price i signed up for that was supposed to be good for a whole year (which you are required to stay in and if you cancel within that time frame they’ll charge you a fee). generally this location has outdated equipment, minimal space and stuff is always broken. if they are raising prices they better update some of that stuff or im gone.

1 good thing about this place though is they have a comprehensive women’s only section

0-stars if I could,
Any of the recent 5-star reviews are either bots or people giving props to one of the personal trainers (who I’ve met and he’s legit) so their review is unrelated to the facility itself.

As of today (June 18th, 2024) they repackaged their membership tiers, essentially increasing the prices for people on the 10$/month membership to around 26.99$/month according to their latest email. They increased their price without actually improving the product in any way.

So for around 26.99$/month (plus a $60 annual fee, averaging to 31.99$/month over a year) this is what you’re getting:

Weight Room (2nd Floor):
-Only 2 cable machines which are almost always occupied
-3 flat barbell bench press setups (non adjustable angle + wobbly seats)
-2 incline barbell bench setups (non adjustable angle + wobbly seats)
-2 squat racks
-at most 6 safety clamps but I always have a hard time finding any
-1 deadlift platform
-2 smith machines
-1 traditional leg press machine
-1 traditional hack squat machine
-1 fixed seated shoulder press seat
-3 adjustable dumbbell benches (all have wobbly seats, one is practically falling apart)
-2 lat pulldown machines
-plenty of dumbbells going up to around 150lbs
-a curl barbell (dangerous without clamps which you’ll have a hard time finding)
-curl ez-bars ranging from 10 pounds up to 120 or so
-a decent selection of muscle iso machines, somewhere between 20-30 of them, but at least 3 of them will be broken at any given time
-generally very cramped space
-zero ventilation
-always humid (you’re breathing in people’s sweat vapor)
-poor lighting if you ever wanna check your pump, a number of the lights don’t work
-music speaker chops up a lot and has static sound (distracting even when you bring headphones)

First Floor (Front Desk / Cardio / Dance studio):
-1 stair master
-couple of ellipticals
-around 10 treadmills, at least 2 are unstable / not safe, roughly half of them have screens that don’t work
-staff isn’t rude, usually scrolling on their phones but can’t blame them
-dance studio not too bad, but usually occupied for classes

Bottom Floor:
-exclusive women’s only area (if you are a man, you are not allowed to use an entire floor of an already small gym despite paying the same price as women)
-Stinky, humid, poorly ventilated men’s locker room, large number of broken lockers, had my stuff stolen
-locker room has shower area, sauna and steam room but they smell like urine
-creepy naked old men

Parking Lot:
-usually hard to find parking at standard hours on weekdays (as in after work between 6 and 9 PM)
-Saturdays they close at 5PM so you’re gonna have to pay for parking if you manage to find any

Misc:
Fridays they close at 9PM instead of 10PM like they do Mon-Thurs for whatever reason
-1 hour before closing, front desk staff announces on loud speaker they’re closing in an hour, will usually throw off your set
-then every 15 minutes they make the same closing announcement until they actually close

Closing Remarks:
I’ve been going to WoW for 8 years now, they used to be located in Waltham where the gym was better in practically every way than the new one they moved to (bigger space, more equipment, everything in good condition or at least maintained), despite now charging a higher price for an outright downgraded facility. Pre-Covid this gym was easily a 5-star, their base membership was only 10$/month (plus a 50$ annual so around 14$/month), finding parking was never an issue and you wouldn’t have to pay for parking like you do now, and they closed at Midnight Mon-Sat and 10PM Sunday which was awesome.

Then Covid hit, they closed for a while and eventually when they re-opened it got slightly worse and more expensive for no reason (unfortunately this has been the case for everything post-covid). They reduced the open hours to what they have now, and for some reason the tier that used to cost 10$/month was now 20$, they still had a 10$ tier but you were even more limited with the hours you could use the gym. Today’s price increase is a dealbreak.

I joined this gym about a year and a half ago and I had the pleasure of working with David Salter as my personal trainer for the past year. He has helped me to develop a routine to achieve my set fitness and weight goals. He understands each one of his client needs and clearly has the experience to tailor work out plans to achieve set goals. I highly recommend David as a personal trainer.

I had originally loved this gym. Unfortunately I was assaulted by one of the members and when I requested to cancel my membership I was told that being assaulted was not a good enough reason. In addition, I provided proof that I worked over 25 miles away (required by the contract I signed) and they have continued to refuse to cancel my membership, breaking their own contract. If I could give someone zero stars once in my life, I would use that opportunity here.

I had the pleasure of working with David Salter as my personal trainer for about 1.5 years, and I can't recommend him highly enough. David's expertise and dedication to his clients' success were evident from our first session. He took the time to understand my fitness goals and tailored exercises that not only challenged me but also kept me motivated. His positive attitude and encouragement pushed me to surpass my own expectations. Additionally, David's knowledge and experience in injury recovery were invaluable, as he helped me rehabilitate from a back injury, providing exercises and techniques that not only alleviated discomfort but also strengthened my core and improved my overall mobility. His professionalism and punctuality made each session efficient and enjoyable.

Updated review:

I would never recommend anyone ever to go here. Ever. Deceiptul billing practices.

Quick notes. Fractured my shoulder in August. Called the front desk of the gym and a person told me instead of canceling my membership, if I pause it, I won’t have to pay. Fast forward I look at my credit card statement and they did in fact charge me. Very deceitful.

I wrote a 1 star review. I was called last week because they wanted to question it. They told me that because I didn’t bring them a doctors note, they had to charge me and I should have brought them a doctors note.

1. This isn’t high school. Im not trying to get out of gym class. I broke my shoulder.
2. They never told me this.
3. They told me the agreeement that they never gave me stated that i needed to pay $7 per month because they gave me a free month when I signed up.

And also told me there’s no way someone at the front desk would ever tell me wrong information. A person literally said it when I called back two weeks ago to prove my point.

I did complain to corporate. They told me to get a refund from the local gym. The local gym told me they’ll be sending me to collections.

They just called me again and told me despite putting in my cancellation, they have decided it’s a 45-day notice and I owe for February now too. My refusal to pay will result in them sending me to collections.

When I joined I specifically asked about parking at their location and I was told that the lot behind them is where you can always find a spot. 2/10 times I’ve been here I’ve had to park a quarter mile down the street. Now I’m locked into a year long contract, strongly discourage anyone from coming here

Pros: The front desk is very nice. If all you want are no frills machines, this is the place for you.

Cons: The place is filthy. No one cleans the women's only area. They run out of paper towels. Toilet paper is being used right now instead. The water filter has been on red for a while. The gym is just unhygienic and it's sad. It was nice this summer.

Joined in Nov 2023. I joined just to use the sauna. Since I have joined the sauna has been not working at least 4-5 each week. So today Jan 12 when I went to WOW west Newton. Once again, it was not working. I asked the very polite young lady working, if I could speak with the manager. Because… enough was enough.I was introduced to the GM. Jocline Diaz. I explained to her that the sauna never seems to be working. I also explained. That when I arrive. I always ask the folks at the front desk if the sauna is working. Needless to say. She was, is extremely rude. Unprofessional, no people skills. As I stood their in disbelief. She told me in closing. If I don’t like it don’t bother coming back. Please WOW Headquarters. Please look into this behavior. I owned a business for 40yrs. If my general manager ever spoke to a customer like had spoken to me. She or he would have been fired on the spot. We all go to our local gyms for a nice workout. Not to be harassed. Save your money. Don’t sign up with WOW.

Been going to this gym since the winter of 2015 and started going early in the mornings since the pandemic. I go there early so I can avoid the gym getting to busy, Which has been the best result for my fitness goals. The issue is that sometimes the person who opens up the building comes in late (this happens a lot) or nobody shows up at all. This is not fair for those who want to get a quick workout in.

Edited: 12-5-22
I originally was going to change my star rating from a 2 to a 3 because they had someone come in consistently Monday-Friday. But I knew it was to good to be true. On Monday nobody showed up and I don’t blame the employees for this mess. It’s poor management! If you know someone isn’t going to open the gym then you’re required to personally open the gym yourself. People are paying for service that y’all can’t deliver. Do better!!

Edited: 11-7-23
This is the last time I’ll be posting an update review. But I went from a one star ⭐️ to a no star. Yesterday ( Monday) nobody showed up this morning to open the gym again (thing happened last Tuesday) which no longer surprises me. Like I said before. If they can’t find someone to open up the gym then management should be there themselves. Don’t get membership here!! The space is small and they can’t seem to find someone to open the gym consistently.

I’ve been going to this gym since before they opened in Newton, it was ok at first at the new location but now they have absolutely no regard for the temperature. Some days it’s cold (rarely) the rest of the days are so hot. When it’s hot weather outside they don’t raise the ac. If you’re looking to do a lot of cardio do not come here you will be suffering. Some days it’s unbearable when trying to run on the treadmill it feels like it’s 80 degrees, hot, and humid. The windows will fog up as well from how hot it is inside. They keep the temp at 70 degrees which is way too hot for a gym in my opinion. It makes the workout unenjoyable because it feels as if you are just running outside on a hot day as well as making it very hard to breathe and uncomfortable.

If you join, you had better be comfortable with joining for life. Seriously.
It is nearly impossible to cancel your membership. You can't do it in the office. You are directed instead to send an email or certified letter to the corporate office.
But, if my example is representative, that won't accomplish anything. I wrote in February to cancel the membership -- 4 months ago - and received an email confirmation that it was received. But ABC continued to charge my account.
Finally tried calling the 800#. If you press '0' enough times you will get to a human being.
47 minutes later (!!!) I was finally able to get it cancelled. The first operator proposed a "compromise": how about if instead of cancelling they downgrade the membership. I insisted I wanted to cancel and was told that they were "not authorized" to cancel memberships over the phone and that I needed to send an email.
Only when I insisted on talking to a supervisor, and having that supervisor lookup and verify the emails were sent was I able to have it cancelled.

So, maybe it's a great gym, but nothing should be this difficult.

Edit: docking a star because I think the tactics the trainers use to recruit new people into their programs are wrong and just plain scummy. I watched one of the younger male personal trainers go up to an overweight man in the weight room upstairs and ask him extremely rude, personal questions about his weight, lifestyle etc. in front of everyone on the floor. Outward ridicule may not have been his intention, but it was extremely unprofessional. I felt so bad for this gym patron who was just trying to work out in peace. After watching this embarrassing encounter, I wouldn’t feel comfortable going up to these people for help, knowing they’re going to try and sell me a training package and potentially embarrass me along the way.

Large weight room, exercise studio that can be used when classes aren’t in session, & a good selection of cardio machines. Only docking a star because parking is limited, a bit of a hassle & you have to pay for it, but overall happy with our decision to join this gym!

Steer clear of this gym unless you want to be verbally abused, mistreated and talked down to by over wrinkled elderly women who stand behind abusive employees , and punk teens who are rude and arrogant. I went to work out World when it was in Waltham and actually quit going there because I was treated horribly on a repeated basis by management and some of the front desk workers. I was skeptical when I found workout World moved to Newton and thought because of its new location that it would be better management. Sadly I was wrong because I was repeatedly mistreated by some young punk kid at the front desk in the mornings who has no problem over charging your card but won't let you in the gym because he isn't capable of upping your membership a measly $10 so you can actually go to the gym and work out in the morning which is what you signed up for. 2 days of Sebastian AKA punk arrogant kid at the front desk being ridiculously rude to me and not being able to help me and I met with a 70-year-old lady who just wants to talk circles around their membership and policies and not actually address the issue at hand which was Sebastian's rudeness and their bad customer service. All they cared about was charging my card a year-long membership fee for abuse, mistreatment and being talked down to by some overly fake tan elderly woman. Never should have gave this one another chance, some things never change, and then when you ask him for a manager they tell you to email them. Run to the hills you're better off going to a gym at a prison and being treated better than this workout World.

I moved away from this gym and needed to cancel my membership. I couldn't do it in person and the front desk employee required me to send an email to request a cancellation. I send in the email and I don't hear back for nearly a week (the employee said I'd hear back in 2 business days) during which I'm billed for the next month. When I finally received a response, the email said that they would additionally charge me for the FOLLOWING month. Absolutely absurd, I shouldn't have to dispute charges with my credit card company in order to cancel my membership on the day that I want to. Gym itself is fine; however, it is impossible to cancel memberships so beware (especially the year-long contracts). Steps I had to take:
1. Call home WOW location and ask to cancel. They will give you an email to contact and agreement number which is different than the one shown through the app
2. Email the address provided by staff which will be met by an automatic response stating that they "received" your request, but it will not process for another week... During this time your membership status is still ongoing so if it passes a payment date, tough luck but you'll be squeezed for every last penny
3. Account will be set to "Pending Cancel Status" and they will say you are responsible for a 30-day written request to cancel. I was told that the email counts as the 30-day written notice, but I have heard from other people that they had to bring an actual letter to their home location.

Since the initial attempt to cancel my membership on 3/7/23, I will still be charged for April plus a $60 "enhancement fee."
If you do plan on cancelling, try asking 2 or 3 months in advance since it takes that long apparently.

Lots of good things to say about this wow location & trainers!!

First off, I signed on for personal trainer (Jacob & David) and wasn't disappointed. David is my full-time personal trainer but Jacob did the first session with me.

I think both these guys understand the intricacies of balance between exercise, nutrition and physical + mental well being. They are very knowledgeable, motivating, flexible in terms of scheduling, genuinely care for my goals and getting me the most value out of the personal training experience.

I am currently at a very basic fitness level and David (and Jacob) have been very encouraging and understanding of my limitations, but at the same time pushing me just enough to do better with each session. I also feel like their approach to strength, interval and full body circuits is spot on!

The attendants and staff at this location are very nice too and helpful too! They were very accommodating and helped me out with billing related changes (actually looked out for my interests when I changed membership plans, which never happens at other gyms).

All in all, super happy so far!

Also the workouts can be intense or not - they really tailor it to the client! I would highly recommend them both to everyone looking to improve their fitness!! Thanks guys!! :)

Well equipped gym. Bad sales practices. Look at web site and prices on price sheet in gym. Only in small print at bottom of page do you find out extras as you sign up are equivalent to 4 more months of charges. How about t
Making total monthly charge upfront and clear? Is a yearly non-refundable $59 extra security charge 8n small letters on sign up sheet reasonable when advertising a $19.99 monthly rate? 9s this charge clear on front page of your web site or hidden till you begin to sign up?

Used to be the best. Keep in mind that most of these photos are from the old location and the new one is probably a quarter of the old size. Owner/management’s poor financial handling caused them to lose the old location, which caused them to lose most of their members. Small, cramped, loud, floors made of paper, very little selection of equipment and, shorter hours than before. Updated 08/2022.

I never knew how important it was to get a trainer for your workout, I used to think its a luxury but no way. I learnt a lot about why I never managed to loose my back fat from Justin who I signed up with immediately to be my trainer. Ask for Justin he's so good at it and very patient. He will give you all the details if you are as green as I was.

Update;
Please know that the team that offers personal training are not from WoW its an entirely different group and getting them to cancel a membership is extremely frustrating; they over charged me to literally get more out my card yet it was their fault for me to end up cancelling; I was supposed to have 3 sessions a week but due to abscess from the trainers I ended up having more than 12 missed sessions and when I lost motivation they completely found me forcing to take those says since they already charged them; yes I canceled but they never refunded me and I have to seek assistance from WoW to get them to just stop charging me. I hated the entire process and regretted starting it

I have been training with David Salter for 10 months, and he is absolutely a professional personal trainer. He is knowledgeable about both muscle gain and injury recovery.

I could not do bench press due to an injury on my shoulder in the past several years; with David's help and training, I can now do 165 pounds. It is a massive change for me.

I would like to recommend David to anyone seeking a personal trainer.

I have not attended WOW in the Waltham location for about 4 or 5 years. I have been getting non stop text messages since June from there new location asking me to sign up IN NEWTON.

When I text back and ask them to remove me from there messages I get the following from "Taline"

"You were already removed last month so no need to keep texting". "We haven't texted you since June 7th."

Yet I have 9 text messages from them in the past week and 16 messages since June 7th!

Great way to run your business and even better to ANNOY PEOPLE and wrongfully accuse them!

The previous Waltham location was great.

The Newton location is awful.

People and equipment are crammed in as close as physically possible. It feels dank, cramped, crowded, loud, and grimy.

Being packed together in a less than ideally ventilated space probably caused people to feel especially sensitive to any inconsistent mask use.

I also spent about 15 minutes just trying to find any parking at all, and it had to be paid parking given so little free parking there — not great if going regularly.

I had one workout at the Newton location and quit — pretty painless in my case with just a few emails.

They say the move was because the previous landlord increased their rent by 100%. That’s completely believable.

It’s however also true that new location belonged to BSC, which was part of Town Sports International, which was a public company that was already preparing to file for bankruptcy pre-pandemic (but took the emergency loans anyhow… then filed for bankruptcy anyhow…).

Given the bankruptcy, BSC had to close many of its locations anyhow.

It might have seemed like a good idea for WOW to try to buy out, take over, or renew the old BSC lease (or just sign a new one) for the BSC location.

They probably hoped taking on any previous BSC members would make up for those lost in the move. I’m not sure that’s working out for them.

Maybe it seemed like it made business sense in the short run, but it’s not been good for members.

Most previous members would need parking. For many the new location is further. The locker rooms were messy and kind of gross. It’s super cramped and crowded. They’re gave up a lot of the old equipment and now don’t have equipment for some things at all. Everything is packed together.

I got two thirds of a workout in at the new location before accepting that it was far worse than I could have imagined, inconvenient, and completely unenjoyable.

Just doing the basic math on the total number of members and what times of day they swipe in should have shown them that the new facility wouldn’t work well based on its size and capacity (and lack of parking).

Maybe when enough people quit that it will become more usable and the parking availability will get better?

I think many of us would have been willing to pay more to cover the increased rent at the old location or a at least a better one than what they picked if they’d needed that.

Most gyms seem to make the most margin on personal training and classes nowadays anyhow, and they don’t need the big space for that. Maybe it will work out for them financially even if not most members.

Oh well.

Hopefully the new location works out okay for some when enough quit.

I'm very happy with the goals we set and the progress I'm making. Highly recommend...

The gym is pretty clean, however the women's only section downstairs is next to the really loud machinery room. Hardly any free weights and only one actual squat rack with safeties. None of the bench press stations have safeties either. Majority of the equipment is not nailed down. Dumbbells only go up to 90 lbs. When you sign up for a membership online there is a yearly "safety" fee for $60, which is ironic considering none of the equipment is actually nailed down. If you only go to the gym to use the cardio equipment then this place is fine, for anything else it's pretty terrible.

This is a classic, value-priced gym.
The good — I’d say it’s just as good as BSC, just way cheaper. It’s generally not super crowded, and since the new location opened has been very clean.

The bad — I really wish the free weights area with the dumbbells and benches was bigger. If there’s more than about 6 people in that area it starts to feel pretty cramped. No free parking and it’s $0.75 per hour in the public lot so if you drive, factor that in to the cost.

I’ve added a star since I posted my original review because the mask mandate doesn’t apply anymore.

My old review during peak Covid below**
—————————————————————
Zero mask enforcement. The staff do not care about the mandate.

The new gym in Newton is nicer than Waltham though. No free parking is a real bummer though. It’s $0.75 an hour in the public lot.

The gym is really well equipped, clean and staffed by pleasant and helpful people. Additionally, only for those who prefer it, there’s a separate area for women to use. The training staff is excellent! They are not only well trained themselves but are skilled in engaging clients, guiding people to higher levels of strength and overall fitness. Justin is the head trainer and I was very pleased that he was able, based on my present skill levels and personality, suggest the perfect trainer match for me.
One suggestion I’d make for the gym itself, is to add more mats for floor exercises.

The manager doesn’t wear masks but enforces people to wear them. As they just switched locations, they still have construction workers building that dont wear masks. How can members respect a policy while the ones enforcing it dont follow their rules. Very unfair. Manager is extremely unpleasant and she is honestly rude to all of Her members. She is also often seen not wearing a mask yet threatens members that they will be banned if they dont wear theirs. She never answers her email. Ive discussed this issue with multiple members. Bring your business elsewhere. The space is also a lot smaller at the west newton location than it was in Waltham. Members are on top of each other. The price for a membership went up, too. Again, Get a membership somewhere else.

Nice gym, and good place to work out. I recommend signing up for the personal fitness program. It cost a little extra outside of your membership but it's worth every penny. Honestly, I never cared for personal trainers. I have always thought: "as long as I'm at the gym working out I'll be fine!" But after having an indepth, informative, enjoyable conversation with Justin, I immediately learned the benefits of training with an actual professional.Justin patiently and enthusiastically answered all my questions (and yes I had ALOT of them haha) and I never got the sense he was 'just trying to sell me something.' He seemed very passionate and knowledgeable about fitness and helping me and others obtain their personal fitness goals. In addition, he did a fun 30 minute work out session with me; all for free! I'm really excited to start their training program! My sister also does the program and loves it. Highly recommend!

This review pertains to the personal training program. I am not a gym person at all. For me to even walk into a gym is like nails on a chalkboard. I decided to enroll at WOW of West Newton. It is in my neighborhood and knowing that I need to be more active, it just made sense. When I enrolled, I asked about the personal trainers because I have no idea what I am doing. The consultation was free so I thought to myself no brainer. I met with Justin who is head of the program. We went over everything from my goals to my needs, my expectations and what the program has to offer. He also went through a few exercises with me just to give me an idea of what the sessions would be like. He recognized that I would need a push to keep me motivated and explained the benefits of having someone in your corner. I was very pleased with how he handled my gym insecurities and not judging my bad habits that brought me in all together. Very well spoken and personable. I would recommend anyone that is remotely close to how I feel to sit and have a chat with him. Great experience!

I highly recommend signing up for the personal training program at this location. I've had several gym memberships in the past but always ended up canceling due to the lack of services available. Meeting with Justin, the head of the personal training program at this location changed that perspective entirely.
When I met with Justin, we discussed my goals and the barriers preventing me from achieving them. He was very attentive and optimistic during my initial workout which I really admired! You can really tell by Justin's attitude that he wants to see you accomplish those goals you've always felt were unattainable.
The program is also very flexible towards busy schedules, has great features to help keep track of your progress and is extremely affordable.

The front desk staff at Workout World (one gentleman in particular) are incredibly rude and unhelpful. The facilities are not well-maintained and the equipment is old. The *only* saving grace is the trainer program which is not run by WoW but is run by Redwood Personal Training.

Justin, the Fitness Manager for RedWood, was super helpful in guiding me through all of the options that the fitness program had to offer while working closely with me to find a fitness plan that suited my goals and budget. He spent an hour and a half during our initial consult just listening to my fitness set-backs and challenges. After, he helped identify very manageable goals for me with a focus on accountability, support and nutrition. I love working with my personal trainer, Melissa. She's absolutely amazing.

It's unfortunate that in order to enjoy great training you have to endure this facility.

The gym itself is passable, but if you go, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING MORE THAN YOUR BASE MEMBERSHIP. Redwood is more than happy to try and extort what they can from you, regardless of whether they render services. To share my own experience, I had a trainer with them for three months of a twelve-month contact, and when that trainer switched locations, they then continued to bill me for three months without assigning a new trainer or even scheduling a consultation. Then, when I finally gave up on the service, they asked for a cancellation fee--but the best part is, they've already withdrawn more from my account than their cancellation fee after they've stopped providing the services they're contracted to provide. Absolute scam of a business, and I can only hope they treat their trainers better than they treat their customers.

Alot of groups come in together taking over sections of the gym at at time. The gym is pretty big with lots of equipment and they are open pretty late so that's good. Definitely not enough benches, the employees don't seem to care much about cleaning up and putting stuff back in it's place. I mean the members should, but they don't and the staff should put in the effort so you're not wasting half your workout looking for weights, clips and benches. This gym is fantastic. I use it for the group exercise classes, specifically Jill’s Zumba classes. They are packed for a good reason, they are phenomenal. Even though I am getting a great workout it just feels like I am going to a fabulous dance party with friends. The atmosphere is great and supportive. Her choreography is more advanced than many other zumba classes out there, which is one of the reasons why I love it soooo much. But even if you are a beginner you should come. After a few times going to the class you'll be amazed at what you can do.

What makes WOW REALLY great though is the babysitting service. It is the greatest deal EVER! For only about $10 a month, you read that right, a month, not a session, I can bring my two kids in. The room for the kids is well appointed with toys and they always ave 2 ladies in there. It is very clean and they have a TV in there for the kids which is generally on PBS kids shows. They also provide crayons and colored pencils for the kids to color with. My little two year old is always so excited to show me what she has colored in that day, be it my little pony or paw patrol. Best of all both my kids (a 4.5 year old boy and 2 year old girl) both love going there so I don’t feel bad dropping them off while I workout. I suggest it to any mom I know. As far as membership sign up, they have been great with me. When my mom came out and did a $10 day pass the membership coordinator even went out of his way to reprint up her receipt (that she had since thrown out) so that she would have that cost taken off of her membership if she goes ahead and gets a membership there. The bathrooms are also always clean. After paying through the nose for equinox in the city I am very impressed at what I get at WOW in Waltham while paying so little.

Thieves. They insisted on 3 months dues beyond my cancel date to un-damage my credit rating.

I would still be a member there if Anthony didn't work there. He's hostile and just not a nice human

Awful cancellation policy for a mediocre gym. Can only cancel via a written, mailed notice? How is an in person cancellation not allowed?

I’ve been a member of this gym for years and it’s definitely the best you’re going to find in the area. It’s clean and the staff is always friendly!
