About the Club

Alexandra is an internationally recognised, osteopath who holds to Andrew T.S (the founder of osteopathy) strong philosophy that the body has self-healing mechanism. She is also a Pilates teacher, taught by Joseph Pilates’ protege Romana Kryzanowska. Alexandra has been treating and teaching with a combine experience of over 20 years. She combined osteopathy and pilates in her clinic/studio in East Grand Rapids. My passion is health and empowering people to be the strongest version of themselves.
Alexandra studied Sport Science at Durham University in the UK.
She credits Pilates with helping her to get back into great shape after three successful pregnancies and now keeping up with her three children!

I have been on a 2 year journey to figure out my hip pain and understand how and why movement hurts that area. Alexandra is the first to stop and look at the whole body as a moving system to find and resolve the chronic pain. It is a work in progress, but she was able to prevent hip surgery. In my past, I've been pleased with results of Osteopathic OMT and pilates classes. However after whiplash injuries, Alexandra Osteopilates was just what I needed to address my body pain and headaches, and to repair and rebuild my strength after losing most of my muscle strength post injury. Alexandra has a wealth of training and experience, and is an excellent teacher with precise guidance to optimize effectiveness. She has a beautiful inviting space with windows rather than mirrors, a gentle but firm professional manner, and an endearing approach.

Following my initial comprehensive assessment, a typical session includes a debrief since our last session, deep tissue OMT in current painful areas in infrared light, and a series of exercises using a variety of pilates machines to identify weak areas and assess progress in other muscles. No two sessions are exactly the same as they are adaptive to both current issues and long-term goals. The consistency is our primary focus on building a strong core "corset" that can effectively respond to intentional activities and unexpected physical challenges. I also have recommended daily exercises to keep building strength between sessions. As a result of Alexandra's Osteopilates program, I notice weekly progress in my reduced pain and increased core inner strength, which is very gratifying!

I highly recommend Alexandra Osteopilates. I am confident that over time my body will be stronger than it was before my injuries, and I am very pleased with my great progress in a few months' time toward that goal.

Went to Alexandra for some chronic lower back pain I was having and within just 5 sessions my pain was significantly less. I truly can't say enough about Dr. Alexandra. After over a decade of experiencing chronic pain, multiple surgeries, and seeing countless specialists, Dr. Alexandra is the first provider I've seen with deep expertise in hypermobility, which she has helped me to understand has been underlying all of my physiology and how my body functions in the world. I started Pilates with Alexandra in November of 2024 when I started to experience back pain. I have been consistently active with walking, yoga and weight training since 2010, but I have neglected ab workouts. I always felt like they were optional because I did not enjoy working out my core. Since working with Alexandra I have realized how essential it is not just for front abdominal area, but back and hip flexibility. I have a ways to go, but I definitely feel stronger than I ever have in my core. It is benefitting my other workouts as well. Alexandra fixed me up after all other modalities failed. I went to several physical therapists (DPTs) and massage therapists. All failed. I also went to a franchise Pilates place and their instructions were making it worse (They let amateurs teach the classes). Then I came to Alexandra and we did authentic Pilates. She corrected all the improper Pilates instruction from the amateurs and I noticed results immediately. I was in rough shape and was actually considering surgery. Glad I didn’t. Now I am just getting strong and reinforcing everything so that I don’t get spinal injuries anymore. 1,000% glad I took this step. No regrets!

About 10 weeks after knee replacement surgery (my second one), I was having trouble with muscle pain behind the knee. This was keeping me from doing many of the PT exercises I needed to do to get my leg/knee stronger. My physical therapist did not know what the problem was. With the first visit Alexandra determined the cause of the problem, and trigger-massaged a troublesome muscle knot away.

When I neck went into spasms I didn't know where to turn, literally. I tried a chiropractor, muscle relaxers, and a physical therapist without any relief. Several days later still in spasms I was given Alexandra's information. When I finally went to see her after 6 days of continuous spasms, it was like seeing a miracle worker! I could move my head right and left about 45 degrees each way. After my second visit I was able to turn fully right and left. I was also able to resume driving. Before starting my pilates journey with Alexandra, I had been in pain daily since I was young. I have visited many physicians, none who could find anything "wrong" with me, and who began giving me diagnoses of anxiety and fibromyalgia - even though I communicated clearly that I was not feeling anxious and still participated in work and in the progression of my career. I have seen multiple physical therapists for the past 3 decades who would design tailored plans that would not help with my pain. On my FIRST visit with Alexandra she listened to my history, and with a few simple questions and tests helped to recognize my hypermobility. I am a Level V Romana's Pilates International instructor trained and teaching in Champaign, Illinois. I watched Alexandra's workshop on Hypermobility in an effort to learn more about working with several clients with hEDS. After that workshop, I felt like her unique combination of Pilates and Osteopathy could help improve my teaching - especially for my clients with a genetic Hypermobility disorder.

In the time I've been working with Alexandra, I've gained so much knowledge and insight about working with this population, as well as other body types. Most of my lessons with her are for my body, but many times she will help offer suggestions on teaching the body in front of me, or even with specific questions I have about specific clients. She makes sure I FEEL connections in my body so I can convey that to my clients effectively. She also gives me great ways to modify or break down the work. My clients are noticing the difference, and getting more from their lessons with me. As much as any training program tries to cover all the important points, working with real people off the street is a whole different ballgame.

Alexandra has helped me continue my education by combining her Pilates training with that of her Osteopathy. Her knowledge of the human body has been so important as I continue my journey into the realm of Pilates. She fills in the gaps of anatomy and understanding body systems that was not covered in my training - and has even helped me rehab my own body after 2 slipped discs and a third torn disc.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to take your training to the next level after finishing any certification program - that's when the REAL learning with REAL people with REAL body concerns begins. I have been working with Alexandra for six months. The impact she has had on my overall health and wellness has been extraordinary. Since receiving a spinal fusion two years ago, I had been suffering from constant muscle spasms in my legs and severe neck and shoulder pain. My symptoms were often overwhelming and caused me major discomfort and anxiety. After multiple nerve tests and doctor appointments, I was told everything looked normal. I was prescribed multiple medications, including muscle relaxers and antidepressants. The medications only seemed to mask my symptoms and never addressed the actual problems. Alexandra was recommended to when I was at a dead end and extremely hopeless. Since working with Alexandra, my muscle spasms are very mild and on most days non existent. The pain and stiffness in my neck and body have diminished. Through a combination of osteopathic work and Pilates exercises, I feel like I am finally in control of my body and mind again. At 43 years old I was informed I’d be living with nerve pain for the remainder of my life; that is until I met Alexandra. Initially I was excited to learn Pilates from someone that was so thoroughly trained in the original method but upon meeting Alexandra our priorities quickly changed. She is very encouraging but will push just enough. Her cuing is very targeted so that u can move your body to the best of your abilities and the way she would like to see it moving. This was my first time seeing an osteopath, but not the first time I went to a specialist trying to solve my health questions.

Finally, I have found a specialist who:
- determines not only the localisation of pain but also its true source;
- can not only determine the source of the disbalance but also release completely the tightness of the tissues, which disrupts blood circulation and nutrition in that area of the body;
- accepts the work of the body as whole, interconnected organs and systems, see the mutual influence of the parts on each other;
- a specialist who strives to teach his patient the “this is how you can help yourself and be healthy later without my help” method, physiologically, in a timely manner, instead of making a client an addict to “quick pills” or “only this services”.

I began pilates mat training with Alex in 2015 as a student of hers.
Prior to my training, I was always plagued with sciatica during my dance training. I visited many physiotherapists who had advised me to never go into back extension and just treated the pain instead of finding the weaknesses and tightness in my body.
Alex eased my fear and helped me strengthen those areas by teaching me to use the system.
I have been so fortunate to learn from her fountain of knowledge over the years and draw upon her experiences to use in my own teaching.

Pilates with Alexandra has been a transformational point in my life. I started to go to Alexs Mat sessions around four years ago, at that time I was doing my PhD and had some serious problems with posture especially shoulder area along with lower back pain. During that time my doctor prescribed a shoulder strap that I used to put on all the time, he also said that I should not do sports because that would worsen the situation of my lower back. I heard about Alex and pilates from a friend of mine and I thought to give a try to the mat course. After that and because I was already feeling so much better with my body (she is also great with mat!) I decided to try the one to one sessions with the machines. Alex always had a way of understanding what my body needed and she helped me work on improving those areas in my body that needed to be targeted.
