I love hot yoga and the teachers and music at this studio are super. The studio itself is dark and cozy. Located in downtown Birmingham within easy distance of a parking garage and a good bit of street and surface parking. I purchased a pass a few years back with an extended expiration date. Apparently, during Covid, they decided to negate any such passes. I didn’t know this. I used a few more passes after Covid not knowing about this new policy. A few months ago, I was literally confronted after class by a manager of some sort. She was incredibly rude. She told me about this policy. She indicated that they are a small business and “in the business of making money” and she would no longer allow me to use the pass. I think I had five or so classes remaining which is an approximate value of $100. It was sort of ironic because while I was in that class, I was thinking that I really enjoyed the studio and I was running low on passes and should purchase another pack. It’s the kind of studio that I only periodically use as I belong to a health club that offers yoga classes as well. The manager was so confrontational and incredibly rude—It was the exact opposite of the yogi spirit that I have come to know and appreciate. Unfortunately I no longer feel the same about this studio. It could’ve been handled in so many ways. I understand and support small businesses. I didn’t know about the Covid policy which upon reflection is frankly questionable given the time that has passed. Incredibly disappointing.

Amazing classes for everyone from beginner to advanced. Instruction is top notch and offer modifications that help me get deeper into the practice through breath and movement. I love the traditional yoga feel of ashtanga and also enjoy the modern upbeat of vinyasa. Five Stars! xx

The very best in Detroit style vinyasa. Conveniently, they record and provide audio for people still nervous working out outside of the home during this pandemic. I never have to skip a practice when things come up. Can’t say enough great things about Blue! 💙

It was my first time ever going to yoga. Micheal was a fantastic instructor and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. A very nonjudgmental place where I felt I didn’t have to do everything if I couldn’t. I feel the most relaxed I have felt in a while. 💙

Love Blue Yoga studio! I look forward to vinyasa class everyday as I know it will be challenging, hot and have great upbeat music. The staff and entire community are positive and always friendly. I feel like everyday I grow and learn more as a yoga practitioner at the studio. The flows are easy to follow if your a new student or experienced. Mentally and physically it’s the best!

I'm a local yogi and instructor. I try to be well rounded and have waited about 6 months to actually write my review. But here it is. I was greeted politely by the receptionist. Online I had read that they give discounted prices to established teachers. ( which I was and currently am). I explained my business which is my full time income and my only job. I was told the special pricing did not apply to me because I didn't have a website with my schedule posted despite having income proof, tax id, business card etc. that was a turn off from the start but I wanted to try the class.

There wasn't much to tour, the space is very small but well decorated, so the receptionist told me I could go in and get set up. I've had my belonging stolen before and not noticing any strict signage anywhere I powered my phone off grabbed my towel and wallet and water and found a spot in back by the door.
The studio roof was also under construction during my visit and pieces of the ceiling were crumbling and dust was coming down in addition to all of the noise on the roof.
Needless to say halfway through the class the teacher made his way toward me after I had grabbed my towel and called me out to the class for bringing my stuff into the room, he proceeded to take my phone while I was in a child's pose. It was quite distracting and embarrassing. The people coming 10+ min late, the construction and the teacher making a scene was more distracting than my pile of stuff sitting there powered off during my practice. I have always respected the noble silence of a yoga room and just felt humiliated. I think maybe a private comment post class would have been suffice to a newbie.
I emailed him after class to talk as I couldn find him after class to apologize for offending him and also emacame led nikki. Neither of their emailed seems very personal or compassionate. Left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be returning. Not to say that others won't enjoy their experience here but I definitely did not feel welcomed as a fellow teacher or new student.

Came back home to Birmingham and wanted to get in some hot yoga over the holidays and was very pleased with Blue Yoga.

Pros:
Good sized studio
Cleaned floor in between classes
Knowledgeable and respectful instructor
Good variety and poses and length of individual flow
Price was fine for a drop in
Inside is cute, has a good yoga studio vibe

Cons:
If you come early for Savasana just know that the door to the studio isn't well placed and you will hear a lot of people who are changing or mingling in the front area (which is very small)
Only 1 shower that I could see and 1 bathroom and no real locker room (although there are two changing stalls)
