Man, I've tried this place a few times over the years because I live close. I stopped in again to ask about a membership, and staff is just disinterested. Short answers, couldn't really offer any incentive, and just dry. The last time I was going here the machines were always broken, the place was always dirty and it still looks unkept. It would be so convenient for me to go here but they're expensy (40ish a month he said lol) on top of all the other things.

I have to post this anonymously. I left an honest review before under my name, and they were pretty much threatening to revoke my membership for speaking up. That should tell you enough but let’s continue..

Every morning I walk in, the gym it's a mess. Me and a couple other gentlemen I know do what we can, an older man member with a cane also changes the bathroom trash because they often don’t clean the bathroom themselves. There are weights everywhere. 45-pound plates loaded to the max on machines, 5s, 10s, 25s, 45s all left where they don’t belong. It will be a 45lb, 25lb, and 5lb plate all often loaded on the same weight storage rack, which does people no good because you shouldn’t have to move a 45lb plate and a 25lb plate just to get to the 5lb plate. The restroom is often understocked, no paper towels most mornings

If you look at the top of the machines, there’s dust, a lot.

The Infared sauna is a hassle. The other “sauna” is a steam room, I have to call 45 minutes in advance to make sure the Infared sauna is on and the door is shut because most of the time, they either forget or say someone else is using it, and then they don’t bother to check if the person before me shut the door or turned the sauna on for my appointment, so I often end up waiting longer than necessary or I can’t even get a real session in if there is somebody scheduled after me.

During non-super-busy hours, no one is behind the counter, and you could be waiting for minutes just trying to find someone to assist you. Simple questions go unanswered for far too long.

People leave water bottles and other items everywhere. The solution seems simple: they can track people who are getting in the gym who are not members, so why put those camera to good use and enforce basic accountability for leaving weights or creating messes? A simple three-strike policy would solve most of these problems.

They also have a “gym etiquette” board which looks all cool and fancy, but it does no good if nobody goes around and enforces any of the rules.

Overall, it feels like money comes before fitness or community here. There’s little heart or passion for fitness from the staff and it and it shows in the cleanliness, most of the staffs own physique and lack of accountability.

So there you have it, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I’ve tried to work things out personally with these people but they don’t care because money is still flowing in their pocket.

Grateful for my trainer Frank Primeau. With my back issues, he’s helped me target the real culprits contributing to my lower back pain including weak core, tight glutes and hamstrings.
My workouts are intentional and built around my body, not a generic plan. Last week, I came in with tension locked in my shoulders and traps and he worked it out completely. I left feeling loose and most importantly pain-free.
If you want a trainer who actually listens to your body and knows how to fix what’s really going on, he’s the one.

The big draw for me is my Trainer Frank. As a 47 y/o woman I assumed a trainer would push me past my breaking point like a drill sergeant. Frank taught me technique and I have been working with weights for the past year and am stronger than I have ever been. He is super knowledgeable, kind and a great listener. 24/7 + 365 access is very nice. SCS location. Gym has always been clean and never crazy busy. Since Champion took over for MAC there have been noticeable changes in the gym, all equipment the re-upholstered, better organized and staff is attentive.

Coach Frank! Let me tell you, I've been going to this gym for a little under a year now to train to become a firefighter. I am now a firefighter because of the help from my trainer Frank. Not only am I a firefighter but I was recognized by the Medical Control Authority of Oakland County with a few others because of my actions during a time a crisis that involved another candidate. I could not have put forth action that day without the training of my trainer. Coach Frank not only prepared me to be physically strong but mentally strong as well. I've been going to this gym for over 3 years now. This is a place where you can see your dues are going directly back to making the gym better. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They do not listen to your needs and just place you with any trainer who needs clients not a trainer who best fits clients. On top of that when my contract ended I stopped going and actually said farewell to the manager (Mike), owner (Andre) and boxing trainer (Jim).

I did not renew my membershipand I have not been there in over a year yet they just sent me a bill 2 months ago saying I owe them. I spoke to the younge guy at the desk he said he would wave the past balance since it shows I haven't been there since my membership ended. Well I wake up this morning to another past due notice.

I once thought this gym was amazing and I highly recommend them but after seeing how they really don't care and they just want your money I take back anything good I have ever said about them.

I would back to planet fitness over Champion Health Club any day.

This is a great gym. The machines are rarely out of service, and fixed quickly if they are. My only issue is the cleanliness. Machines are rarely wiped down after use. I think this is due to the rag that is provided for members to wipe the machines. I have a hard time touching a rag another member used to wipe their sweat. I think there needs to be a disposable option.

The staff is friendly and approachable. The locker rooms are nice and well maintained. All surfaces maintained by STAFF are clean. The amount of attachments available for pulley machines is impressive.

I've been going to this gym on and off for 8 years. Very clean environment. Very friendly staff and trainers. Dumbbells go to 125 but are in bad shape. All rubber weights. Tanning included if you're into that. Sana included. Awesome aerobics room. The only issue I have with this gym is the amount of members come here and are taking selfies and recording themselves. So just a heads up that you might be on their stupid video for instagram.

Gym, locker rooms and class rooms are clean and cleaned daily. Variety of equipment available and they listen to members when that suggest new equipment (such as the stairmaster). Many classes available (throughout the day; yoga, pound, kickboxing, boxing, dance fitness, etc.), personal trainers, meal program and protein shakes at front desk. Everyone has been very friendly and attentive!

I attended this gym under the OLD ownership and the OLD ownership was poor. The NEW ownership cares, and has definitely made this a gym I'll be staying with; very happy. The NEW ownership takes pride in their gym.

I would not recommend any gym that tells you when you try to cancel that you may get charged an extra month because they can't get their ducks in a row to turn your bank informaton off. In comparison I cancelled on the same day at Planet Fitness and I have never been charged.
