Machines are still broken!! Cancelled my membership. If your looking for a dirty gym that never fixes their machines this is the gym for you. ***Machines are always broken. The abductor machine has been broken for 4 months now. They never fix the tanning bulbs if they are burnt. Went today they are still out. Front desk told me they won't be fixed anytime soon. Bathrooms are never cleaned when they open. No wipes in wipes stations. Its a mess. Its definately gotten worse since Monroe has opened. Wish I could post my pictures

i genuinely do not understand how this gym retains membership or has more than 1 star. I had a membership here for not even a month, and heres why. This gym is HORRIBLY managed. Its dirty, very clearly not consistently cleaned. The cleaning wipes are empty half the time. 80% of the time the workers are rude and not engaging, while just sitting up front on their phone CLEARLY not working and the manager is incredibly rude. Wish I caught his name. the machines are constantly broken, with them having one abductor machine that has been broken SINCE I STARTED. the water fountain has been broken on numerous occasions with my friend needing to drink my water since she couldnt fill her bottle. the sauna has been broken on 3 different occasions. i came in here to do cardio, and 6 of the treadmills were broken with the rest taken. theres like 6-8 stair masters and 2 are ALWAYS broken. its an absolute mess. i had to pay an annual fee despite like i said not having my membership for even a month. absolute scam

I’ve been a member for 4 years and this place has gone downhill exponentially in last 6 months. Every other treadmill is broken, all the stationary bikes are down, and some of the exercise machines have been broken for MONTHS. I asked a worker and the machines are supposed to be fixed every Monday/Tuesday? Ok…so how have the machines been down for that long then? I pay for the premium membership and some of the machines for those perks are broken too, with no ETA of when they will be fixed. Where is my money going then? Not to mention, found someone sleeping in the sauna a few days ago… full on sleeping laying down, not just relaxing in there. Seriously considering leaving.

Visiting from Florida, walked in, walked around and then out!! They had some punk rock music just BLARING!! I have earphones and couldn't hear my music. Look around staff, everyone has their own earphones, earbuds, and is listening to their own music! Have some consideration for your members. I would have complained, but no one was at the desk.

I feel terrible leaving a poor review but I’m not sure what else to do at this point. The facility is frankly disgusting. It’s dirty, wipes are frequently out, the women’s bathroom smells like pee because it’s cleaned so infrequently. The trash in the bathroom for pads and tampons are overflowing most of the time. Machines are frequently broken, and the staff seems less and less attentive, and the couple times I’ve mentioned some issues, I’ve been met with rudeness and attitude. It’s frustrating because it’s such a new facility and it’s just gone so downhill. I attend the Taylor location pretty often and it’s just night and day, from the cleaninless (Taylor’s is spotless) to the friendliness of the staff. I hope something changes at this Southgate location soon.

Several pieces of equipment (over 10) are always breaking and takes months to fix. Saunas and water fountains breaking frequently. BATHROOMS ARE NOT CLEAN no matter how much you complain to management. This gym grosses me out. The employees are friendly. However, I drew the line at the cleanliness. I no longer attend this gym. Gym is dirty from top to bottom, group fitness room floor is absolutely disgusting, Bathrooms are not clean at all. There is urine and human fesis visible at all times sink seems to get clean every 8 to 10 weeks, machines are always breaking they have 5 to 6 thredmills down the abductor machine breaks every other week. Love the layout, but there is no up keep and maintenance being done to the facility. Please be advised you will have a double monthly payments being charge to your account on file every few months. Most recently this week a man will hang up on you tell you they will refund one of the double monthly payments and you will call a few days laters to follow-up and a young lady will laugh and say o that was just a super early deduction for the next month you wont be refunded. Mind you this has happen more than once they can refund you if they want. Terrible customer service to top it off!

Numerous pieces of equipment are broken on a regular basis and for long periods of time. Example being, Jacobs ladder has been broken for a year. Water fountain has broken several times which is unacceptable for a gym along with the constant absence of sanitizing wipes available for equipment to be wiped down before/after use. Also, a lot of us have a membership here instead of planet fitness due to the sauna. Well, that has been broken for almost 2 weeks now. I feel like this location has just been left uncared for far too long and needs someone to come in and do better than previous people in charge. It's absolutely terrible and unacceptable at this point.

Love this gym, however, I have a few small complaints. For one, this gym is not the most hygienic of places. There is crusty build up of sweat all over the stair masters and treadmills, the mats are constantly smeared and ripe with sweat, and the mens bathroom looks like a saw trap. Also, one of the girls at the front desk has been rude and impatient with me repeatedly, making me feel bad for simply trying to ask for help. I try my best not to give customer service workers a hard time but she talks to me like a child. Other than those few gripes, I think this gym is spacious, inviting, and the majority of the staff is very kind and welcoming when it comes to helping customers out.

I was really liking the gym at first but recently there’s been no wipes to clean the machines just dirty reusable rags in their place which is gross cause I don’t know even want to touch the rag also most of the treadmills have been out if service for weeks now and today the sauna in the woman’s locker room wasn’t hot … at all ?? I absolutely love it here from the personal trainer Marco he’s an cool guy and very charming and respectful. I love the classes as well and it also comes in handy for when I’m working out by myself. The facility is very nice. The machines are nice. I had asked repeatedly the times that we were there about towels or towel to wipe the machines wipe the sweat off. None of them ever worked. You never seen anybody cleaning machines you never seen anybody walk around all they did was congregate up by the front counter some of the employees were helpful and unfortunately they deducted money( that I did not authorize to be taken out )the manager specifically James was very rude , along with the young lady that seem to have an attitude that was at the counter. I would not recommend going to this place go to planet fitness Anytime fitness never had a problem with either one of those. I just figured Crunch was an upgrade, but I was absolutely wrong. They might have a little bit more upgraded machines than other places, but the way they handle business specifically the manager, any young lady that works the dust that has no customer service skills and is very rude. Go somewhere else else where they treat you better do not go to crunch fitness specifically the one in Southgate.

Instructor Elizabeth R is incredible, I haven't felt this confident in myself since taking her 5:30 AM spin and hiit classes consistently, she makes spin fun and definitely pushes us!!! I even incorporate her suggested workouts when she does not have a class available. I appreciate Crunch for offering 5:30 AM classes, that is the only time that works with my schedule.

I would like to add to this. People need to learn how to re-rack their weights, that’s just rude. We all pay good money for our membership. I love this gym but I don’t like the fact that there has been 2-3 broken treadmills and several machines for months now, as well as other things. Ladies bathroom isn’t the cleanest. Upstairs is way too hot!!! A tv upstairs has been stuck on a channel forever. I haven’t had to have much interaction with the staff because they don’t greet everyone, they’re busy talking amongst themselves. Overall, I’ll give this place a B.

I have been out of town on business. My credit card got stolen in Atlanta in May so I haven’t been to Crunch obviously. Came this morning to reopen my account and was told that unless I pay the “past due” of $190 something, there was nothing they could do. So instead of making monthly going forward, they choose to make nothing at all, and cause me to get all of my friends and family to cancel and go to a different gym. Bad business practice if you ask me. We live in downriver Michigan, there are hundreds of gyms in this area…

Manager was going to reach out and of course never did. Employee who started all this was named Servando. This particular franchise, which has another location in Monroe, is absolutely garbage and gym goers should beware and go elsewhere. The owner of the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti location actually reached out and offered membership and a killer deal for myself, my wife and son, and my 48 employees.

I’ve been a member since day 1 and have found this commercial gym on a huge decline lately.

Machines constantly broken taking weeks to fix.
Water fountain down with no free water? That’s a first.
The TVs up stairs have been frozen for about a month now.
Maybe 6 treadmills are either broken or very UNBALANCED.
And it seems like the staff members would rather shadow box at the front desk other than address the gym issues.
Also, maybe encouraging the people who are walking in as “guest”, that don’t sign in with the tablet or use an ID like an actual guest would, to actually get a gym membership to gain revenue to fix all these issues the gym has. Seems overcrowded with people that are not actual members of the gym.

I like this gym but it’s always so busy, especially at night, that I can’t ever get a full workout in. The teenagers that go at night hog all of the machines and equipment for an unnecessarily long time. The machines seem to be under repair a lot which also stinks because of the limited amount already. It’s really not the gym that is the problem, it’s the members. There was a kid who hogged the hamstring machine for well over 35 min (the other was down) and a girl who was on the hip thrust machine for around 40 min, left her phone there to go to the bathroom, then came back. It’s ridiculous. On the rare times it isn’t busy like that, I enjoy it and can appreciate how nice of a gym it is

I had a great experience at this gym, and have to give a special shoutout to Shaun for his amazing help. I was looking for a specific machine, and Shaun immediately went out of his way to find it for me. His knowledge and helpful attitude really made my workout go smoothly. the general manager, james smith was very rude to me and my sister. gave us HORRIBLE attitude and encouraged us to cancel our membership. Now me and my sister go to planet fitness happily. I usually go to planet fitness in Taylor on telegraph, which is really small, and heard this gym was a lot bigger so I tried it out today. Although they are a lot bigger, I won’t be coming back. The equipment itself is great but it’s pretty dirty. They have a few wipes dispensers throughout the gym but they are pretty spread out and no one uses them. I was there at their busy time from 4-5pm, did not see one person wipe their machine after using. It also doesn’t appear the staff cleans the machines either. I stayed mainly upstairs on the cardio machines. Every machine I used had a fan feature and it’s covered in dust, has not been wiped probably ever. The treadmills all had what appeared to be dripped sweat that dried and dusted over. The trays to hold your phone and water bottles were literally crusty. I wish I would have gotten pictures. Although PF is smaller, it’s way cleaner and I always see staff cleaning and keeping everything nice

Had a problem with billing a year ago because I switched bank accounts and came in to solve. Had me pay off balance and open a new account. Just found out they sent me to collections for the first account even though the manager said he would take care of everything after having me pay off the 2 to 3 months and made me resign up with a new account and a new initiation fee. By far the best crunch in SE Michigan. They are constantly adding new machines, more weights and duplicates of everything. The inside is massive and for the most part stays clean. Machines do breakdown but that happens in every gym. The water fountain does break down sometimes and I wish they would send an update that its broken because I would bring water instead of having to fill up in the bathroom sink. They do automatically change your membership after one year to a month by month price instead of the yearly price, which charges extra money per month. I was not told about this as I would have opted for a full year to make it cheaper. They did fix it right away and gave me money back, but they should notify people of this before charging.

I liked this gym when I was going there. Life changes and needed to cancel the membership. They make it nearly impossible for you to cancel. The only way they'll let you cancel is if you go up there, so remember that before you move. I was told for me to send "proof of moving" to an email address for them to let ME can cancel MY account. I have been trying to cancel my membership for over two weeks. I’ve sent numerous emails and so many phone calls and they will not return my phone call. They keep saying they will give the message to the manager who never is available. I think their level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I have a broken foot and I cannot physically cancel the membership. Crunch just raised our monthly prices and this is what we walk into today. Weights are everywhere, this is constant, no one cleans up after themselves. Multiple machines are broken all of the time. There is no drinking fountain right now and even when it is working it spits out warm water. The sauna is and has been down for quite some time now.

They no longer have paper towels? Instead they have these wipes to wipe the machines down with after you have used it, and they’ve caused so much irritation to peoples skin.

If you want to try talking to the manager, Will, good luck! He is never available and does not return phone calls. I’d look for a different gym, I’m cancelling my membership. The place was awesome when it opened up, but is now a total dump!

When I first started at crunch, I had a personal trainer. My trainer missed two of the sessions, and I was never refunded. And at the end of my first training cycle. They charge me for another 4 days. That I never got refunded for either. I tried on multiple occasions. But nothing ever came of it

I work out at Crunch when I do not have time to train at my gym. Over the past two weeks I have witnessed a young man doing a great job cleaning the facility, etc. I was told his name is Andrew. He has helped make a positive change in the facility. All of the staff are personable and helpful. They have a wide range of equipment. The only negative would be some members sitting on the equipment w their cell phones or videotaping themselves. Just TRAIN...overall a positive experience.

Think twice about joining this gym. Extremely crowded, extremely dirty, and broken equipment. The General Manager, Will, is unprofessional, rude, and immature. Don't waste your money or time at this company. I was charged after trying this gym out for a week. I went in to get a refund and was told it would take 3 to 4 business days for the refund. It's been over 20 business days. They have horrible management and it's a horrible brand. Stay away.

They make it impossible to cancel your membership. Never there on weekends and leave before 4 on weekdays. Managers are extremely rude and the general manager will tell you that you should not be canceling your membership if you can't do 100 push ups when they can't even do it themselves. Other staff will laugh at you when asking for a manger. Gym is very small and everyone there acts like they are better than you. Would not recommend. Hours suck for people that have normal jobs. Go to Planet Fitness instead.

It is unbelievably hard to cancel your membership here. I have called the location and was told the manager works during the week and on some weekends. But everytime I show up there is an excuse as to why the manager cannot see me, whether it be because he's in a meeting or he isnt in that day. This gym is by far the worst downriver. 😫 the women's bathroom trash is still over flowing in the floor , Nasty dirty, the Tanning beds are all gross. All 3 times I went here I was put in a dirty bed even had a woman's bloody pad stuck to the floor of Room number 2 along with bloody wipes . When I confronted the manger I was told I wasn't allowed to cancel my membership without paying the remaining balance for a year lol 🙃 😅 I have only been here 3 times and was told by the girls who signed me up said it was month to month I can cancel anytime tonight it was a different story once I confronted them how disgusting the gym was . He said no one ever complained about this .Mind u I took pictures of it .And admitted their to busy to clean the Tanning rooms , the employees are to busy standing on their phones and laughing at you when u tell them how nasty it is , it's funny to them .Even the manger seems to think this is funny. They will most definitely not get a penny from me and I bet when I get legal help tomorrow after they will think twice before laughing at risking someone's health from diseases this careeies. This location is nice & I like the set up, however I don’t like/understand why the workers always open the big garage looking door to the mirror room while people are zoned in and working out. Not only is it rude, it also startled many of the women in there. Women gravitate to that room for the privacy & quietness. Having it shut also cancels out the loud music, I wear studio beats and the gym music overpowers mine. Once a coworker opened that door to the mirror room ( group class room) and angrily said “ if there isn’t a class this has to stay open”. I don’t know why they’re so focused on that aspect. Women literally look for privacy at gyms for so many reasons and the one place we do feel most comfortable happens to annoy all the male workers.

I moved out of the area & needed to cancel my membership. Over 2 months in 2023, and numerous phone calls I was still being told no one would do it over the phone. Fees were accruing. The 1st of January I was told to email a manager group and someone would reach out to discuss yearly dues that were now charged on a closed acct. Since January, I have made 6 phone calls and sent 4 emails as instructed. To date, 2/01, no manager has responded via email or phone call, even after all the correspondence I initiated. This is very disrespectful, unprofessional, & not good business practices. Do not trust this company, as they only care about $$. Next step is a corporate complaint or a call to the Better Business Bureau.

I go there and do personal training with Todd Montroy. I have restrictions and he has been able to create challenging workouts for me without compromising my situation. He changes things up so it never gets boring. There is also a great vibe between all the trainers, which also makes for a positive gym experience.

I had back surgery, couldn’t go to the gym had doctors letter head explained of what I had done, And there still taking moneys out of my account after I was told it would stop with the doctors note. Now when I call I get young children laughing on the phone or rudely saying there still going to take money out, and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s just not fair the I’s

The worse experience ever!!!! Basically stole all my money. I told them I was pregnant and high risk so needed to cancel being I won't be working out. They still charged me the annual fee and then recharged me a second annual fee when they knew I wanted to cancel. I told the GM that I'm struggling now and can't afford a 60 fee and all he said there's nothing I can do. So I basically paid an annual fee for another year when I'm not even a member no more. Makes no sense. They are stealing money. Planet fitness is way better, understanding, and definitely cleaner. Planet is right next to them. Don't sign up to them and waste your money when u can save in Panet. The GM lacks empathy and didn't care to take money from a mom and her kids. So disgusting.

Ok good first. The instructors and the classes are amazing and they have a large variety of equipment. Unfortunately, the manager doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s very rude. When this gym first opened, it was immaculate and staffed. It seems that once they got their members that is not the case. Some really great fitness instructors with great energy. Would really like to see more kickboxing classes. There is literally one one morning for the entire week. There’’s a great variety of equipment which I love, especially the hip machine, jacobs ladder and lateral octane trainer BUT …. This place needs to get the paper towels, spray bottles filled so when you open in the morning it’s all topped off.
I am attaching photos as this is becoming a normal day, empty spray bottles, empty towel dispensers, overfilled garbage cans. Can’t even put a toilet roll on the reel. Maybe this will get your attention. I know everyone is complaining about it! I came from

I will never go to or recommend Crunch fitness to anyone ever again!! Their customer service is GARBAGE. I recently tried changing my membership from the $29.99 one to my new fitness your way membership that’s through my insurance. I went in to do so, and the manager “switched it for me” & said I was all set. A few days later, I got charged the monthly charge of $29.99, along with the charge of my new membership through my insurance. I called to inquire about getting my money back and they said since I tried switching it so close to my billing cycle, that I would still be charged but only for May and moving forward I wouldn’t get charged again.

Well fast forward to Friday, I got charged again for the month of June for $29.99. I called the gym and spoke to the “manager”, who had told me he had to speak to the other “manager” that was on break. He promised to call me back. It’s now 6PM that day and no call back, so I called the gym back myself. A nice lady answered this time & slipped up and told me there’s only one manager there. LOL! So she said she’d have him call me back the next day since he was gone for the day when I called. Now it’s Sunday and NO CALL!! They now have $60 of mine that they need to give back to me. I tried being patient and I’m not normally one to leave bad reviews but I am fed up and have had enough.

Came here for the first time from Westland and don’t get me wrong the gym is beautiful but the girl at the front made me feel very unwelcome and caught the biggest attitude for no reason. Don’t do the 4 dollar deal! Locks you in for a year and they don’t let you cancel even though it’s always too packed after work and you can’t do much but wait n take turns n change weights. They should limit the amount of members knowing this is an issue! The crunch0meter never works either!! I drive to all 3 locations all same issue around the time I can work out. They sign too many ppl up for a non 24 hour gym! I’ll never recommend at this current state.

Stay away! I cancelled my membership in person and they still charged me. I went back in person to cancel and nobody is allowed to cancel the membership except for the GM or the assistant GM who were both not on-site at noon on a Monday.

The staff on-site tried to call both of them to see when they would be in but neither answered their phones.

Only thing good is the cardio section. The arrangement of the gym is complete idiocy. You have to walk across the entire gym just to get to the locker rooms. Squat racks are directly next to the bathrooms and smells terrible. They let anyone in without checking. On my first visit I brought a friend and we walked straight in staff didn’t even look up from his phone.
