Not off to a good start. I was told that, since I enrolled for the first time today, I'd get 20% off gear if I buy some, but I got no discount. This place is coming across as shady and we haven't even attended our 1st class 🤦‍♂️

Don't waste your money here, unless your absolutely sure your kid likes it. They have it set up where you buy "packages". But if your kid ends up not liking it they won't refund you or convert it to another activity. My 2 year old wasn't ready for their parent and tot class. He likes more group activities that have more running around. This class you have to stand in line and wait your turn at each station. He is just not ready for that, we tried 3 times and he just cries the entire time. At his age he cant do any other class. so since we had to 2 classes left on our package we asked if we can just do the play time instead because he enjoyed that more. They said no, just do another class. But we cant do another class or any other activities due to his age range. So it's either force him to do the last two classes crying or be out the money. We just wanted to do a fun activity this winter to burn some energy since soccer was over and I guess gymnastic was not it.

** 1. I double checked my records I definitely have 2 classes left.
2. Your manager reached out one time Tuesday night. I have a hard time getting your call, my phone keep listed it as a potential spam call and tried to block it. I think you guys should look into that, instead of blaming me.
3. My husband and I tried talking to your staff asking them what we could do. The only thing they replied was speak with a manager, there's no other classes.
4. I did talk to a receptionist again at 1:47 to speak with a manager again. They had the receptionist speak to me on their behalf. Who also said I had no other options.
5. So i made this post hoping to find some type of solution since I couldn't get ahold of you or your manager.

My daughter loved Her classes and the black coaches they are the best. If your african american. Don't send your kid. They treat us differently. They are rude and treat people like they are less then. The office was all over the place and never knows what happening or what's going on.

I wanted to wait 24 hrs after to be fair. So here we are. I would be cautious if booking a party. It's very hard to rate because the facility is a 5 star, I don't know about the gymnastics aspect, but for having a party, it's a 0! They are new, (open about 2 months) so they are still learning, and there is quite a bit that they need to learn. My first issue, pricing. $450 for a party of 10 kids. That does not include the adults. I was planning on feeding my adults. They wanted $60 extra for the additional seating/aka bigger room (which was fine) on top of that they wanted $9 per adult, AND then the cost of the additional food for the parents!!! So that's an extra $200 for only 10 parents. Once they found out, I was not paying for the adults. They refunded my $60 back threw me in a small room and had all my adult standing along the wall. Don't ask me why they just didn't keep the $60 and provide a bigger room with seating for my parents. It didn't make any sense. If you have adults in your party, they have to stand?! Secondly, they control the entire party, which is great if that's what you're looking for. 1:You're not allowed to bring a cake, they offer cupcakes and when they sang happy birthday, they didn't even put a candle in it. SMH
2: decoration, they have two options, sports or princess, if you don't pick one of their options, then they charge you additionally 3: I ordered a popcorn machine as an add-on. The popcorn is popped while the kids are playing and they place it in bags on the table which I felt it was just there, no one cared. It would be exciting for the kids if they said popcorn time and every kid stood in line with a bag and they scoop some in their bag. 4: they give you two hosts and you have to tip both of them which a party with 10 kids does not need two hosts. In my opinion, they need to step back and let the parents feel like they have control over their child's party. All of the parents that attended my daughter's party had the same views & opinions. I thought it was gonna be a great venue and everyone would wanna have their child's party there. All of my party guests said it was a waste and they were not impressed. On a sidenote, the manager in charge (I think her name was Lauren) chased down a mother in my party because I did not pay for her for open gym. She was watching some of the girls not participating, but she had her mom sign a waiver, (which is
understandable)and then proceeded to charge her $20 for watching less than 40 minutes of open gym. With how much I paid and how bad it looks on your facility. A better approach would have been to tell the girl, she didn't have a waiver signed, and they don't allow anyone to watch so have her come out of the gym. Positive experiences hardly get recognized, unfortunately negative experiences stick.

So, regarding the switch from the warren location to upgrading to the huge warehouse in St Clair Shores- it’s honestly just sad. It’s changed from a huge open and negative space where children can play- to humid hot and small blocked off/fenced in areas where multiple classes are running at the same time in small areas. Children are trying to run into other groups/ classes- all practicing other things and I can visibly see coaches getting upset about it. Something I liked about Extreme Gym was that there was not any police-ing on children’s open play like other Gymnastic places (Hunts) But now this place is worse on polic-ing the play- and it’s sad it happened through an “upgrade”. It’s cramped as heck in there. The open gym, gymnastic classes, and the small corner of the “Kydventure” treehouse are all separate but literally sharing the same space. All different prices and strict rules as to you cannot play wirh this and that- even tho it’s right in front of the kids face.

My daughter attended one class and half way through decided she didn’t like it. I told the lady at the front desk and said it would be fine to pay for the month that we already paid for but we wouldn’t be back. I come to find out I was charged for 3 months of “auto-renewed” enrollments that I didn’t want and didn’t use and didn’t even know we had. I messaged Extreme Gym asking for a refund for the 3 months I didn’t use (four months total, because I’m not even worrying about the month that I paid that I only used half a class) and they flat out refused. As a business owner, I’m absolutely shocked that they would refuse to refund a membership that was literally never used and that I didn’t even know I had.

Our experience at Extreme Gym has been incredibly disappointing. My daughter has been attending for several years, starting in recreational classes and eventually joining the team. We’ve hosted birthday parties there and participated in summer camps, spending a substantial amount of money over the years. Despite our long-term commitment, we have never felt valued or important — nothing more than a dollar sign to them.

No one, including the coaches, ever made an effort to build a relationship with us or my daughter. Communication was minimal, limited to generic updates about the kids' progress. There was no genuine bond or engagement, making us feel like just another transaction.

This past summer was the last straw for us. After planning our entire summer around the schedule provided to us in April, the gym decided to change the fall schedule just a week and a half before it was set to start. When I reached out to the owner, Angela, to discuss the situation, she never bothered to call me back. Despite my phone call, she only communicated through the app, showing a complete lack of respect for our time and commitment. There was no personal communication or face-to-face discussion, just an unwillingness to engage directly with a concerned parent. Angela was defensive and refused to take any accountability, dismissing the changes as "minor," even though they significantly affected our plans. She also refused to provide a full refund, citing non-refundable fees that were never communicated to us in writing.

After I voiced my concerns, Angela swiftly removed me from all the communication groups we used, cutting off any further dialogue or updates. This just reinforces how little they care about maintaining relationships with their customers. Since the “new” schedule did not work for us we had to pull our daughter. Not a single coach reached out to thank her or us for the years we spent there. They didn’t say goodbye, offer any support, or even ask if there were skills we should continue to practice. It was like they didn’t care at all. We didn’t expect a party or a grand send-off, but a simple acknowledgment of the time and effort she put in would have been nice.

Furthermore, Angela's defensiveness is evident in her responses to other Google reviews. She constantly tries to justify her actions and make it seem like she is always right, rather than acknowledging any issues. This dismissive attitude extends to her communication in the apps as well. These messages are often curt and lacking in warmth or understanding, which only adds to the negative experience.

It's also worth mentioning that many of the positive reviews you may see on Google or in Facebook groups should be taken with a grain of salt. The gym actively fishes for people to leave positive reviews, creating a false impression of customer satisfaction.

All these issues reflect a pattern of disregard for their customers. I am very upset that I wasted so much time, energy, and money at this gym

took my kids out of here and took them to the gymnastics they have at the Roseville rec center. It’s $75 every 6 weeks which is a lot cheaper. My issue with extreme is 1. They changed the gymnastics date and time for one of my daughters so I had to take her out, yet they still wanted to charge me 135 when she didn’t go at all that month. Of course if I had to pull one kid I was going to pull both til I could have them both in… considering their new time and date didnt work for me as I’m in nursing school in Toledo Ohio. You think they care and were reasonable? No they harassed me multiple days a week about a payment when neither of my daughters attended a session for the month they were asking for a payment… and it’s because THEY CHANGED THE DATE AND TIME. Even threatened to send me to collections. But skill wise there my kids didn’t learn much, and they were there for over a year… however they are doing very well at the rec center.

I tried to cancel and did exactly what they told me to do. They didnt have the right email for me, so I wasnt getting the emails. I talk to someone about a month ago on the phone and she was supposed to take care of it. Never did: Now the owner states that I still her owe money, even though my child has not been going to classes for over two months. No one even asked why, we want to leave the gym. We left because of lack of communication, I thought my granddaughter would be in a show, no one said anything. I happen to see a brochure on a christmas show, noone ever said a word about it. I inquired about it and the girl at the desk said it was to late to be in the show. There is no communication. Waste of money.

My granddaughters Jaymarie and Shannon has been attending one day per week for 3 years. Jaymarie who is 11 years old last been promoted to Level 2 and able to complete the recommended activities and was asked to assist students in level 1. Shannon who is 8 years old and a little larger than most 8 year olds has remained in level 1 for 3 years where I watched other students that are smaller than her less achieved and less driven printed to a higher level within 6 months. Before I was inspired to comment on this gymnasium was my last visit I saw my Granddaughters working harder to achieve and with with all do respect the coach working with them Tuesday spent more personal time with each student was very impressive but the effort that Shannon put in was SAD she worked so hard to prove she deserves to be promoted to level 2. Before the girls began their class on Tuesday I spoke with the manager and acknowledged my concern and she stated that they may have not been developed enough to be promoted and that they only attend once a week and if you attend a gym if you only go once a week do you think you would achieve . I think that comment was insensitive and that if you enroll your child in a program to TEACH gymnastics they would TEACH. You might say why don’t I find another Gymnastics program THE GIRLS LIKE the gym.

I’m getting increasingly frustrated attending the 3 year old class with my daughter. The price is SIGNIFICANTLY more than we were being charged at our previous gym so I was expecting a lot more organization and great coaching.

The coach is very young and sweet with the kids, but doesn’t run the class effectively or keep them on task. Currently she explains about 4-5 different activities to them at one time (while most of them aren’t even paying attention) and then sends them all to different stations to do the multiple activities she has shown them (which they’ve already pretty much forgotten by the time they get there). She then goes around to each kid and tries to help them do all the different activities while the other kids are running around, laying on the floor, not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, falling off the bars, and not being coached and parents are all yelling from the viewing box trying to coach their own children through the activities.

Working with toddlers is like herding cats and their attention span is very short. I’ve discussed with management how it would be more time effective to have them line up and then all go through each activity together with the coach helping each one with their form one at a time and making sure they’re doing it right and not hurting themselves. But I’ve come to 2 more classes since then and the class is being run the same way and I feel it’s overpriced for what we’re receiving.

I’m really not trying to be rude, but I can watch my child look lost and lay on the floor at home for free instead of paying $190 and driving 30 mins to the gym every Sunday. At the end of our sessions I think we will try to find somewhere else to go if this doesn’t change.

We just moved to Detroit and at our old gym they had even younger kids than age 3 learning way more skills because of the way they ran the class and they let the parents on the mat to help them when needed. I really hope to see some change and improvement at the next sessions.

My Daughter Lindsay has been a part of The Extreme Gymnastics family for seven years.

Extreme Gymnastics, from its recreation to competitive levels seem to promote a philosophy to help develop strong, independent and happy children.

When I attend a training session, looking at the multiple training sessions, I witness their training staff dedicated to helping children reach their highest potential in gymnastics.

With the competitive level, if a coach sees a moment needing correction, the coach does take the time to address the athlete with what may have happened, what to do next time through, and follow up with the next routine attempt.

I used to like this place, but recently I realized a lack of professionalism. I am currently standing and watching how one of the instructors is performing her tranining. She is barely moving, looks like she is hating her job, drinking coffee and checking her phone non-stop, while coaching. Inbelievable.
Im kindly asking management to monitor the coaching process and rectify the situation. Keep in mind that this has been going on for a while.

The instructors do an amazing job with the older kids doing their backflips and volts. My daughter is 4 years old. Her instructor was not hands on at all. Too many instructions given to a small child at once. The instructor would do a 5-6 course task and then have the four year olds try to emulate it. The four year olds cannot remember that much at one time. Also, the instructors are more so teenagers, they tend to get distracted with the other classes. So as the children are completing the obstacle course they are not telling them if they are doing the task correct or incorrect or showing them how to do correct form. Feels like I'm wasting my money.

We had my son's 4th birthday party at Extreme Gymnastics, and it was a major HIT!! We had kids ranging in ages from 4 up to 12, and Coach Courtney was amazing with them! She kept them all engaged, busy, and most importantly, having fun! The party room was great; all paper products were included, as well as clean up after. I wish we were able to have had a little longer in the party room; by the time they ate and had cake, we had to rush through gifts. Other than that, everyone left there happy and tired, and my son had a BLAST!! My 15 year old daughter also takes tumbling classes at Extreme, and has learned alot. We are very pleased with the entire staff and opportunities provided by the gym.
