When you sign the initial contract you should just put your notice in at the same time. Their services that they provide do not match what is advertised. They will continue to charge you after you notify that you want to end your contract. They do not provide childcare, there machines are often broken and customer service is poor. I informed the front desk worker that I wanted to cancel and his conversation was brief and said good luck. Very poor experience. I won’t be back and won’t recommend this gym to anybody.

I love this gym! I drive extra to go to this particular family fitness. It's clean, the staff and friendly, and I love that there are two separate floors which give tons of space. The members are all nice and follow the rules. I was told about the annual fee which goes to improving the gym and I can see the improvements being made which makes me feel good knowing it is going towards what they say. The cancellation fee is only if you want to cancel early. Which is with a lot of memberships, not just gyms. Give this place a try you won't regret it!

Has all the machines you need if you're new to the gym and most staff are friendly. Unfortunately, it is missing some equipment for more advanced lifters and bodybuilders, and the stacks on the machines are pretty light, which kinda sucks. Still would recommend starting here over most other gyms.

They got my phone number by mistake. I’ve asked them to stop texting me and they said they would. However they continue to text me. Huge red flag. I would be scared to ever sign up for this gym because they clearly cannot be true to their word. Great atmosphere and quality gym. Two floors to separate cardio equipment and strength training. Multiple bathrooms, locker rooms, classes, punching bags, etc. Lots of benches, squat racks and freeweights. I tend to gravitate to places like this versus the shiny places like planet fitness. They are over crowded, dont have the proper equipment, and are way too commercialized.

I've been working out here for a little less than a year but I deliberately waited to give a review because I wanted to see if feeling welcomed was a continuous positive emotion that I received and if the environment had good natural vibes. It is, and it does.

Kaity does an amazing job here. It is the most comfortable facility I've ever worked out in. The culture she sets forth with her staff is very positive and upbeat. They are also very welcoming.

Comfort is incredibly important to me, and I'm glad the staff makes me feel welcomed. I always get a smile from the staff when I walk in, and I'm always greeted with positive vibes.

There is plenty of locker space, the showers are always clean, and everyone working out is very respectful.

I haven't signed up for the yoga classes yet, but I've heard very positive things about it.

Working out here has definitely helped my mental health and my physical health. I feel the energy in this facility and it feels great to call this place my workout home.

I had a free training session with Emily and enjoyed the knowledge she gave me. I look forward to her training sessions. Emily's plan for me fits perfectly for what I'm looking to build!

This gym is a great lifting environment. The crowd is usually super nice and encouraging. The layout of the gym is unique and there are plenty of free weight options and machines. This gym is a must when in the area. In terms of layout, equipment variety and quality, and service, Family Fitness of Alpine (FFA) checks every box.

My Coach and I traveled from out of town to compete at the OCB Michigan Natural and were looking for gyms when we stumbled upon FFA's listing on maps. The gym was above and beyond expectations. The facility was CLEAN, the staff was BEYOND friendly, and for the meathead in me, the equipment was top-notch (the hack machine goes all of the way to the floor as one example👌).

Fast forward a year from the first visit, we have both returned to the area with athletes competing and our experience was as excellent as the first time.

Do not join! This place is seriously awful. First of all Shawn will trick you into signing a year contract and just tell you that you are just signing your name for “signing up”. He doesn’t give you anything to read that tells you are signing a year contract he just brings up a box on a touch screen for you to sign. If you try to cancel they charge you cancellation fees and you have to contact them about 10 times before they actually do it. The gym is dirty and there was even mice spotted on multiple occasions while I was there, the employees knew there was a problem too. The showers are always broken, trash will sit in the bathrooms and locker room floors for a week. The equipment is old and outdated also. Avoid the hassle and go literally anywhere but here.

I joined this facility almost a year ago now - I was looking for a gym with a diverse selection of equipment, they have many great options for every muscle group, both free weights and machines. My personal favorites are the hack squat and v squat! There’s a women only section for those that would feel more comfortable in a private environment. The staff and trainers are all very welcoming and happy to answer any questions you may have. I look forward to all of my workouts here :)

I have been here for many years. That said they care nothing about you They increase your payments and take stuff away. The upgrade charge they go to bring in extra equipment is a joke. Terrible gym, they trick you into signing a multi-year contract with a high cancellation fee. They don’t phrase it that way at all when selling you on it (they phrase it as “keeping you at a good rate” for at least a few years), and the phrasing of the contract is shady. The treadmills never work, and there’s a lack of equipment variety.

This is probably the worst gym I’ve ever been to in terms of price, equipment, and staff. Stay as far away as you can.

If this one isn't your home gym they will restrict your access, screw with your account, then staff will cover it up and lie to your face. They’ll give you the runaround until you’re so frustrated you leave because they don’t want to deal with customers that aren’t paying them specifically. Even other Family Fitness locations say this is the shady one of the bunch. Avoid at all costs; there are better gyms out there.

Almost a year ago when I signed up for this gym and I have nothing but positive things to say. love the energy I get walking In, it provides a safe, functional, and comfortable workout environment, and creates a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere for recreation and socialization but, most importantly and what I love the most is the staff. They are very good people who love their job, take it seriously, extremely helpful and have always behaved very well and professional. They do not honor their freezes. I was deemed disabled five years ago and called to cancel my account. They said that I could freeze my account and then when I was ready to use it I could unfreeze it and that time would be added on to the end of my membership. I called to unfreeze it and cancel my account since I will be able to use the gym within the next few months. I was treated very rudely by a girl at the alpine location. She talked over me and treated me very poorly. I got the email for cancelations. I wrote and just received an email saying my account has been canceled. I received no information on how to use the freeze time. I paid on my account 15.99 a month for five years and I get nothing even though I signed a freeze. Stay away from this business. They are nothing but crooks. I lost $1000 to this place. Watch yourself.

Do not waste your time and money with this place. Deceptive practices. Signed up for the online month-to-month special that should give me access 5 days a week during staffed hours. Went in just to be told by the manager (shawn) to pick 3 days a week to attend. After being surprised by this nowhere-to-be-found "policy" I emailed the same address I got my contract from and they replied and said to me that there must have been a misunderstanding and that I can attend during staffed hours. So I come back in today (Saturday) just to be told by assistant manager (Katy) that I could not workout because Saturday was not "one of my days" that I was allowed to be in there. I asked to see the so called 3 day policy and showed her the email I got from corporate all on deaf ears, I was given the choice of either paying $10 to upgrade or leave, I chose to leave and never come back. Absolutely disappointed.

It was really sad to an old lady crying trying to get her membership cancelled because she was deceived by Aaron, one of the managers for Family Fitness.It's a good gym, however the company itself is equivalent to Kirby Vacuum salesmen. The Family that owns this gym encourages their employees to lie to you to get you to pay more than you should for your membership.They aren't good people and don't deserve your money. When I worked here they had some sketchy promotion where they gave out "2-night vacation stays" at participating hotels, which sucked in a lot of people who had no interest in the gym itself. But again, the gym isn't bad, however it is one of the most dishonest businesses in West Michigan. There is a reason why the Attorney General filed a cease and desist with them.

When signing up for my "Free 3 months" as advertised, it quickly turned into almost $200 before getting a membership. They can play with numbers as much as they want, I was paying $40 for a monthly, and my friend had a contact in which he was paying $20. When you sign up they ask for numbers of potential clients/friends and will call them non-stop for several months. I moved across the country and was charged almost $100 after it was said and done JUST TO CANCEL. Would not suggest doing business here as there are much much better gym's within the area that aren't crooks. Very disappointed and being a football coach I will gladly steer my former athletes away. Please note this is my first ever review as I try to stay out of this stuff, but this was ridiculous. Wish I could rate it a 0. HORRIBLE communication. This gym is top tier scammers. I had to freeze my account due to an injury, assuming that a freeze would mean to freeze payments. Little did I know, that 'freezing' your account means you still make payments, but you get extra 'free' months at the END of your membership. How does that make sense? The entire time at this gym they just kept trying to get me to spend more money, and stay for longer. Even added a cancellation fee and an early notice charge because I left during an injury. It's a TRAP!

Do NOT sign the contract without reading it no matter what their staff member says (especially the males eg. Shawn). They make it hard to manage your membership, you are in and stuck until you pay your way out if they allow you to. Otherwise the facility is average, still not worth their overpricing. Stay away no matter how desperate you are, there’s better business elsewhere

I just called and let the lady know that I’m not familiar with gyms. As I was talking she kept over talking me and being very rude and disrespectful. I hope they record their lines... I just want them to hear the proof of her being disrespectful, for no reason...at that.

Wish google allowed 0 stars cause this gym deserves it. They have the worst police regarding cancellation even during a pandemic. This company is one big scam for your money and they have a lack of communication to get back with you on your problems. 10/10 would recommend you to look somewhere else for a gym.

Family fitness is trying to charge me a third annual club enhanement fee for a 24 month agreement... Obviously the person in charge of their billing department needs to be replaced. Customer service resfuses to listen to my concerns and keeps stating that I will need to make the payment even though I have receipts to prove I've paid my part. Also they charged my card on a date different from what is shown on my agreement making my account go negative. The gym may be okay but the corporate office is clearly shady and not looking out for the customers. I would recommend going to a different gym that won't charge your card whenever they want.

Loved it at first, be careful of anything you sign with them. My month to month agreement with them ended up being 24 months somehow? Even though I didn’t even have a lease in Grand Rapids that lasted that long. They could only charge me $75 to cancel, but after doing some research I see this great company got caught up in some legal trouble due to cancellation policies haha. Be careful what you sign. Besides that, nice facility. Staff at the location was friendly

In 2016 I signed a 36 month contract which is obviously finished. In 2019 I moved to a different country and I tried to cancel my contract with no success. I let it go since I only had a few months left in my contract. The problem is that they are STILL trying to charge me for this membership.
It’s very easy to sign up to their gyms but what they don’t tell you is that it’s impossible to cancel it.

I have a Planet Fitness membership but tried this place because my daughter is a member. Much of the equipment is older, the space is pretty dated in general and I don't care for their pushy sales tactics. I would pay more than double what I'm paying at PF per month and it just isn't worth the extra cost, in my opinion. They do offer daycare which is a huge plus to those who need it.

This is my kind of gym. There are plenty of weights and machines that keep my workout moving. Katie at the front desk signed me up on my first day and has been extremely inviting. I travel here for work so it's nice to have someone greet me every day.

My only complaint is that other patrons don't always pick up or put the weights away. The dumbell rack is always out of order and the plates are always mixed up (EX: 10 behind a 45 with a 5 on top of it).

Watch out for the contracts! Make sure to read the fine print. They will trick you with free upfront and lock you in for years. When you think it's over, they will send a letter stating your month to month and though you completed your contract you owe them for not canceling??!!! I recommend to go somewhere with good business practices.

I enjoy working out at Alpine for the wide variety of different machines and the usual crowd of people is friendly and motivating. Could use some work in some areas but all around an A-ok gym

Lee and staff at The Alpine Family Fitness are the best. I feel comfortable working out here but if I’m having an off day I like that I can go to the “women’s workout area” for some privacy. I’m feeling great and seeing results!!
