Signed up for the 21 day free trial online. Got a text with the pass for the 21 day free trial, and a staff member contacted me to come in for a tour. Went in for the tour, and by the end of it the staff member rushed me to the computers to try to rush through getting a contract put through. The exact words when I tried to state I wasn’t ready yet was “Well, if you walk out now you probably won’t come back”. Proceeded with sitting at the computer. Never got the 21 day free trial, and yes I won’t be back. Seems like they only care about getting your money.

Husband and I are in town visiting grandchildren and needed a place to continue our workouts. I located this gym online and it looked like it would be good. Turns out it is great! Brandon was super kind when we first inquired about passes for the length of our stay. He was more than helpful, very friendly and seemed generally interested in our fitness needs. Sparta has a great thing going! We will sincerely miss Family Fitness when we leave but we visit on a regular basis so…we will definitely be back!

I want their back in 2015. I was driving school bus for Sparta area schools at the time. And then when I wanted to drop out they wanted to charge me $300 and some odd dollars. And I told him it was highway robbery. I also said that I don't drive for Sparta schools anymore and I don't live in Sparta and I don't even go by there anymore. But they still wanted me to pay a cancellation fee. Like I said of a $300 plus. I wound up paying $75. To get out of the contract that they talked me into doing which I didn't want to do. Then they keep my card on file. Which I also explain to him I did not want that to be done. So nearest to say if you go here, you need to watch yourself, cuz I feel that they would rip you off.

This place is a joke, everyone pays a different price and they will try to get every penny out of you. About 9 months ago I paid for a 1 year membership with $120 in full. I know for a fact that most people are paying $20-$25 a month... today I came in with my girlfriend to get signed up for 6 months. They tried to charge her $29 for a card activation fee and $20 a month even though I pay $10... the worker called “corporate” and I spoke with a guy and he tried to explain to me that they can’t do $10 anymore because minimum wage has gone up, which makes absolutely no sense because I’ve been a member for over 2 years and my monthly rate has only gotten cheaper. They are always under staffed and some machines have been broken for months. I highly recommend NOT signing up here, and if you do DO NOT give them your credit card information only use cash.

I have been a member over 2 years now. I have seen at least 7 managers come and go. The equipment is failing and at times out of order. This is the time of year when many like to tan. Surprise! Only 1 bed available as its too pricey to repair the other bed. TVs shut off occasionally as bills are not paid in a timely manner. I have had issues with corporate regarding my account. Many of us work out to release stress. Its surely not possible with these issues happening. Music has come into play also...who wants to listen to thrash at a high volume? Music is a past issue and I have to add that Tracy has been awesome the past few months as manager. She is very pro active but that only goes as far as the owners will it. If they don't care then what? My consensus is that its very obvious the owners do not consider the paying costumer or hold any regard for their management. What's next? They loose business and it flops. As for me I am reaching out to other entities who happen to hold a high regard to the saying "THE COSTUMER ALWAYS COMES FIRST"

Facility needs major work. The floor is coming apart and bowing up. Tanning beds are old and broken. We were not told you can't get in to tan 24 hours, which we can get in to work out 24 hours. They need swipes on the tanning rooms so people can get in to tan when the gym manager isn't there. They can monitor usage by the swipe, as well as have any tanning customers complete and sign waivers and policy guidelines. Really disappointed and wish we would not have signed a 2 year contract that costs $75/person to cancel. We should have done better research on times, policies, and facility.

I had high hopes when we were informed that they were under new management. Almost 2 weeks later and I see nothing is different. They advertise they are staffed until 9pm during the week, 8pm Friday, and 5pm on the weekends but Rikki “the manager” says differently when confronted about no one being here at 8pm when one wants to use tanning room. She said she leaves at 8pm. The sign on tanning door says it’s available until 8:30pm. When you pay for an amenity and you can’t even utilize it because staff conned you into thinking they would be there, then once you sign up and go you realize they are never there past 8pm it’s extremely frustrating. The cardio area floor is falling apart, which is kind of scary. A lot of the equipment is subpar. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. So disappointed.

I joined Family Fitness of Sparta with many doubts and hesitations due to my lack of gym experiences. However, after going for a couple days I quickly realized this was definitely the right place for me to be. The Club Manager was extremely helpful in getting me started on a routine, he answered all questions I had and also provided daily encouragement to keep me focused and wanting to go back.

The personal trainers are also great and I find myself really looking forward to my training days. They take the time to clearly explain and show me how to do the specific exercises and also provide the benefits and reasons for why. They also provide tons of encouragement and have you leaving for the day feeling accomplished vs. beat down.

I am extremely happy with the clean and friendly atmosphere, the daily "Hey!" as I walk through the door, the encouragement to keep going and of course the results that I started to see almost immediately.

This place is perfect, if you dont plan on involving your family. Contrary to the title of the establishment, due to recent, un-notified, changes to their child care policies, you are not allowed to bring children, reguardless of age and ability to self maintain, unless an attendant is present. Not that you would want the extremely rude woman that works at the Sparta location to watch your children, anyway. However, if poor communication of policy changes, and rude childcare staff with ridiculous hours are something youre looking for, then this is the place for you.

I tried to cancel my contract after the end date and the rightful charges of $44 turned into $120! They are willing to drop that to eighty-some-odd dollars. Looks like my credit will, unfortunately, finally take a hit because I am only willing to pay $44. Don't let them check the auto-renewal box because it sets you up for a bunch of extra fees and requires a 60 day notice of termination. Don't expect any breaks if your bank forces you to switch to a chip card and you aren't contacted by Family Fitness to let you know until the late charges pile up (honest mistake)... I even taught 8 free yoga classes at their facilities, and no break, well then they get no money, unless they will remove their heads from their rear ends, become good people, and just take to $44 to end the ridiculous deal that they offer.

Besides being dirty with equipment that can be tattered and battered, the lengthy contracts have their strongest stipulation in TINY print in the last sentence on the paper "cannot cancel this contract unless permanently disabled or move more than 30 miles from location" and they mean permanently. Unless you cannot use your legs or arms PERIOD, there is no cancelling. Altho I was advised otherwise by the rep, this is the baseline. Family Fitness of Sparta has been a constant frustration for me. I do enjoy lifting weight at the Sparta location, however this facility is poorly maintained. The weights are completely disorganized, the machines never get fixed in a timely manner, the jump ropes are broken, and they never play any music to workout to. Ive tried using the the cardio bikes, but something seems to be broken on every bike. I cannot wait for my contract to end because I will not be coming back to family fitness.

I can say they have a lot of good equipment there is nothing missing in the facility. It caters to both men and women equally and even,offers child care which is a great thing. However I've been a member since before the opened the doors. I go 5 days a week and have been greated maybe twice, the customer service is seriously lacking. They do have a female trainer, Who is very good at her job besides for her you better have knowledge on personal fitness before you join otherwise your a fish out of water. So for sparta it is reasonable.

Family Fitness is a GREAT gym for the small town of Sparta. You can't beat the price! I love all the group classes and how all the ladies welcome you! The staff is so helpful when you have questions about the equipment. A big thing is that they know pretty much everyone by name and make sure they greet everyone when they walk in. The trainers are also an outstanding part of the gym and are always helping people out even if you don't have personal training. I would definitely recommend this fitness place to everyone!!!

You get what you pay for at Family Fitness in Sparta. Our monthly membership is $10 and I don’t think I would pay any more. Some equipment is decent, while some does not even work. At least two treadmills do not work and there are only 5 or 6 treadmills. The weight equipment is ok as well - most works well but because it’s a smaller gym, there is not enough equipment for everyone on a busy day. I do not like how the weights for the barbell and curl bar do not match; some are even 11-pound plates. Tanning is included, which is not the case for the more expensive gym down the street but the tanning beds have seen better days. The top on one bed does not stay up, which makes it hard to get in and out as well as clean after using it, and the acrylic is broken on both beds. There is also a women’s area that does not seem to get used very much, I could be wrong… The area may be better utilize another way.

The staff at Family Fitness greets you when you come in the door and there are many staff members. One particular staff member is very friendly and helpful, greeting you when you walk in, cleaning up equipment left on the ground and taking the time to educate members on how to use equipment properly with following up afterwards to ensure they’re completely comfortable.

The next closest gym charges much more but does not have the issues Family Fitness has or the amount of staff on hand for much of the day during the week. Both gyms are 24-hour gyms and conveniently located in the small town of Sparta. The price is right for this gym. I think the place has a lot of potential and can see it turning into a great small town gym.

I love this gym. 24/7 Access, Tanning, and super friendly staff. It is conveniently located in Sparta so that I don't even have to drive more than a couple of blocks to get there, and with the help of the friendly staff and my Advocare Products, I am getting into the best shape that I have ever been in.
