I’ve been lifting with Austin for a while now and I can honestly say he’s one of the best trainers out there. He really knows his stuff and makes every workout challenging but enjoyable. He’s patient, motivating, and always pushes me to get the most out of my sessions. I’ve seen real progress since training with him. So far, no real complaints.

The place is clean, and there is plenty of equipment (mostly for weight lifting) that is also well-kept. It kinda feels like a rare gem; of my past three visits I've been here (usually later in the evening or during AM hours), the gym had a few people lifting on one side and a group or multiple individual personal boxing classes on the other.

The people here seem pretty chill. I haven't encountered anyone with the tough guy or rude mentality. Most keep to themselves and are there to get their work in and head on out.

In my opinion, perfect place for someone who wants to get their workouts done on time, especially if they have a busy schedule. And that someone is me.

The gym , showers, Sauna
are always CLEAN. The owner Don is a great guys and will assist you in learning how to use the machines correctly. He did me. They take silver sneakers. They have machines and free weights. Visiting from Japan and did the one day trial. Spoke with the owner and got signed up. He toured me around the gym and showed me around. The gym looks great and seems well maintained. The best gym in the Detroit area by far. Also, one of my favorite gyms I’ve ever visited regularly in all my travels. The staff is top notch but most importantly, the patrons for the most part practice gym etiquette and it is not usually very crowded. Most other gyms in town are just hangouts, people go to Golds to put in work.

Pleasantly surprised! I was visiting from out of state and stopped in to get some cardio. Was not expecting much for a gym in the Detroit area, but found the place to be extremely clean and well kept. Locker room, sauna, and shower were likewise very clean. Lots of weights and machines to choose from, as well as a boxing ring and multiple punching bags which I have not seen at other Gold's locations.
The owner was at the front desk during my visit and super friendly and personable. He didn't give me any problem whatever despite my membership being at another location.
Highly recommend! Would definitely come here if I lived in the area.

Terrible gym. This gym is very ghetto and unprofessional. People here don't know how to act. People be standing around hogging weights. The owner Don is so unprofessional. One time I was thinking about what weight to put on the machine. He had the nerve to say "the machine is empty you can use it." Then you have people's kids running around the gym and being in the way of people working out. Only good thing about the gym is the punching bags. But I will never come here again.

I moved to the Detroit area in August of 2020. I was a member of Golds gym in SC, so I decided to keep the trend going here. Don and his team take great care of his facility. More than enough equipment to get yourself together. Don, and his team treat people like family. I’ve been in some corporate gyms where you are just a customer. Definitely not the same vibe here. I can see Don cares about people. Not only will i be leaving Michigan soon, I’ll be leaving a gym that feels like family. Great job Don, and his team!!!

This gym is an athlete’s dream come true!! In response to my online inquiry, I received a personal welcome message from the owner with membership info and a free visitors pass. As soon as I set foot in Gold’s I felt like a kid in a candy store. ALL of the fitness equipment is immaculately maintained with care and the resistance machines are actually laid out in a way that makes sense—one of my biggest pet peeves in commercial gyms. First impressions are everything and Gold’s nailed it. The receptionist was delightful and Women’s locker room was very tidy. If I could give MORE than 5 stars I would!! Thank you Don and staff!

I didn't like the atmosphere. I went in there one time and did not like it, it was dreary. The owner also seems to be very messy and unprofessional. Arguing with the customers in the comments looks very bad. Your job is to accommodate the consumer as much as possible. No lies were told about how there's little sneaky hidden fees, or that, some of these businesses make things appear one way when all actuality they're hustling the customer. A spooky, dreary den for a gym, and a confrontational, poor behaving, angry, combative owner, is enough to keep me at LA Fitness.

I was going to get a membership here, but after seeing how unprofessional the owner is, in the comments, nevermind. I also seen, where the lady Kiara left a note about scammer, and I can see that being true as well. Planet Fitness did something similar to me, and ever since I been leery. Something else I learned, don't give these people your main bank account information, have a back up account. Shout out to Capital One, because they will kick whose dinging your account out of the system. They will not have access to your account anymore. BEWARE! They are deceiving and scammy. I will attach all of my proof such as receipts/ emails and their “No Contract” paperwork they falsely advertise. I am so disappointed in this gym. A long story short, I received a phone call 2 days ago from a debt collector saying I owed them $450 for a past due balance I owed to this gym and that they would report the delinquency on my credit report. He even tried discouraging me from contacting the gym directly to rectify the issue. (I’ll attach his information as well). I tried asking why and how I owed this money because my daughter had only been to this gym twice and we paid for the one month she’d gone. I only agreed to let her go there for the one month because she needed something to do before softball season started last June. The lady Madison who signed her up (and the owner Don was there as well) said there wouldn’t be an obligation, it was month to month. The next month I received a phone call saying that my payment couldn’t process. I explained to them that my daughter would no longer be coming and that Madison told us if we don’t pay we don’t have a membership because it’s month to month. I was told the membership was canceled. My mom and several other family members continued to go for a few more months and once again Madison confirmed the membership was cancelled. I spoke with Ally from Gold’s gym yesterday and she confirmed that yes my mother and 4 other family members’ memberships were cancelled but they never cancelled my daughter’s. Also, confirming my daughter had only come there twice the first month. She told me to speak with the owner Don today to get help. Don called me this morning and requested I pay the $75 fee from having the debt collector call me and confirm, and I quote, “the debt collector must have tacked on a damn fee of their own because I’m showing a balance of $248.” I explained the situation again and he said, “I have $18,000 worth of debts from people and I’ve heard every excuse.” I once again tried to explain to him that I am one person and that grouping me isn’t fair and bad for business because it shows I’m just another number to him. I even offered to pay the $40 monthly fee because he said to cancel you have to do it within 30 days so I would’ve had to owe that anyway. I also tried explaining that I shouldn’t be responsible for his employee’s mistake for not cancelling. He rudely said that his employee “has been working here for 2 years and knows how to cancel accounts, it takes 1 second.” And that moving forward he will require customers to email the cancellations for proof but he wasn’t going to “eat everyone’s cost” even though he was going to “write off the balance with his taxes.” Furthermore, this gym is a rip off and I advise you get a real contract and read the fine print carefully because according to Don, “they have no contracts just agreements.” Legal jargon and scammy wording at its best- you sign up- you agree to pay even if you cancel.

The staff and especially Don, the owner, are all genial and friendly. Other gym goers are social if you’re into that and several others are extremely regimented and focused. It’s a great mix.

The equipment here is second to none. They got a ring, punching bags, weights, stair masters, the works. I lost 50 covid pounds here and love it. Unfortunately, I’m moving, but this is a top notch gym and THEE best in metro-detroit IMO.

You’ll enjoy your time here. Awesome place to lose weight, gain size, lean up, or complete whatever your fitness goals are.

The gym has got everything you need. I’d call it a “medium” size gym for what that’s worth.The equipment is actually a notch better than standard gym equipment. clean&crisp Nautilus machinery with switches, not the standard pins (kinda cool actually). I appreciate the dual arm cable machines. The locker rooms don’t have that stanky gym funk for how busy they can be, so that’s a big plus. Infrared saunas. Music choice is very appropriate. Boxing ring. Heavy bags. The owners are fabulous. 24hrs access. The place is well up kept, especially being a franchise. Although I don’t get a franchise vibe like Planet Fitness. I like the fact that this gym doesn’t have any “gimmicky-ness” to it but also very inviting. You might have to wait to use equipment at times, especially during these, but hey sometimes you have to wait in life....Go check’er out 👍👍

I was spending a few weeks in Warren with family over the holidays, and desperately needed a good workout. I was able to buy two day passes to Gold's Gym. The owner was helpful and accommodating, and the equipment is frankly top notch. Televisions are available to those who like to watch something while working out. The music playing in the background was at a reasonable volume. (Overly loud music is a pet peeve of mine.) The changing rooms are spacious and clean. I was really impressed, and I'd strongly recommend this place to anyone

Get in while the membership offers are hot! Golds Gym Detroit is the first Golds in Michigan, owned by a smart, educated and friendly owner - Donald Larson. All the equipment is brand new and organized perfectly for your workout needs! Kick boxing and boxing classes are on the way and there’s a cycling room with constant access. My family and I have bounced around many gyms over the years and this one by far takes the cake. This place is gonna boom! Be one of first to gets your sweat on!

Great equipment and staff at this new gym. Two platforms & racks for Olympic lifts, great selection of cardio equipment, tons of high quality strength training machines, plenty of free weights, and it's all brand new. Very friendly and helpful staff. They also putting in a boxing/kickboxing training area with several heavy bags and classes coming soon.
