A great studio as long as you're early to class. Just read the negative reviews and they all say the same. For me, three of us were locked out knocking on the door at the start of class time (on the dot) but we were unable to join. It's a very avoidable complaint everyone here has but being on time is of the utmost importance to Kula.

Absolutely wonderful, welcoming studio. I attended classes here for over a year before Covid hit, and am just now getting back on my mat after a variety of factors have prevented me from returning to my practice.

It's fantastic (and, admittedly, a little surreal) to return to Kula and find myself not only in the same poses, but being given similar cues, welcomes, and reminders to set an intention. I love the consistency -- while every teacher I've worked with has a unique approach, the Kula attitude is consistent across the entire studio.

Very excited to take my first class at the Leonard studio (which is a skosh closer to my house, score -- but I'd also still keep going to the Wealthy studio despite the commute, just out of love for this studio and its teachers!)

Yoga has been a passion of mine for 10 plus years now. I do not live in the Grand Rapids area anymore, and after a stressful work day in the hospital I was really excited to check out Kula Yoga with a friend of mine. I live about a 40 minute drive away and I'm pretty unfamiliar with Wealthy Street. So I left early and arrived 10 minutes early for the 6:00pm vinyasa class I had booked. However, when I arrived, I realized that the parking lot was full and I needed to pay for street parking. I started downloading the mobile parking app which took a few minutes, and after I finally paid for my street parking spot as quickly as I could, I walked up to the door at Kula at 6:01 PM. 1 minute late, that was my bad, but I figured I could respectfully enter the back of the class. Nope, I was so wrong. The door was locked. I texted my friend and asked her if she could come let me in, and when she pulled out her phone, the instructor rudely called her out in front of the entire class and implied she was being disrespectful for having her phone out even though the class was still in the introductory phase. She explained that she just wanted to let me in and that we'd intentionally booked this class together, and the instructor still said no and told her once again to put her phone away and that I would not be permitted to enter the class even 1 minute late. I was extremely disappointed by this because I was super excited to try out a new studio and support a local Grand Rapids business. However, after this experience, I realize that Kula Yoga represents everything that yoga is not supposed to be. This studio and the instructor Naxal embodies every bad reputation that Western yoga gets. I realize I should have given myself more time to arrive and park but being unfamiliar with East Grand Rapids I just didn't know that I needed more than 10 minutes, as that is what the confirmation email from the studio suggests. I've taken quite a few yoga class at different studios with different instructors and after this initial experience with Kula I am happy to say that I will not be returning. If anyone is interested in a yoga class in the Grand Rapids area where they value grace, acceptance, and understanding that life happens, and sometimes we are all THAT PERSON who walks into the back of yoga class 60 seconds late, I would suggest going to Sunset Yoga with Amy on Tuesdays in the summer months, Or Funky Buddha, if hot yoga is more your thing.

I've been a member at Kula for 2+ years and I love it there. The teachers are thorough, patient, and professional, and they prepare challenging classes that always feel fresh! The space is cozy and clean. The owner Megan Rader has trained all the teachers to be well-rounded (skillful and thoughtful), which gives the whole studio a lovely consistency between classes. I highly recommend what Kula Yoga offers! You will not regret getting a monthly membership and diving into this supportive community. Life changing 💥✨

I have been going to Kula Yoga for two years, so this review is overdue. I have to say, Kula is a true gem. There are so many things that keep me coming back. The teachers are all lovely, highly skilled, and dedicated to providing high-quality, student-centered instruction. The small details in Vinyasa classes like thoughtful assistance are impactful and have helped me advance in my yoga practice. They offer a wide range of yoga classes and workshops with convenient schedules across two locations: Wealthy Street and Leonard Street. Both studios are well-equipped with props, clean, and have an inviting ambiance. It is a special place where you get a sense of community and I am happy to have Kula in my life.

Kula = heart, home, community🫶🏻 Extremely high teachers’ professionalism and consistency of classes, kind and respectful approach. I cried my eyes out after my first class here almost 2 years ago, it felt like finally finding a missing piece I needed so much in my life. Special thank you for amazing workshops, which give a constant possibility to grow, learn so much about myself and the world, develop creativity and find friendship. My all time favorites would definitely be “Sound Bath” and “Holotropic Breathing”!!! And one more thank you for summer outdoor classes, connecting breeze with breath is magical. If you haven’t been to Kula yet this is your sign! Love&Peace❤️

This studio is by far the best I have been to in GR, but the owner doesn’t care about members despite teaching classes onsite herself. I aggravated an old injury and was ordered by my physical therapist to stop yoga while working to regain mobility in PT (with the expectation of 5-10 weeks to regain mobility and strength).. This happened, and I notified the studio 3 days prior to my next monthly billing date in hopes to temporarily pause my membership. The studio’s policy requires 7 days notice to cancel a monthly membership. When I requested this policy be reconsidered for my medical circumstance, I was referred to as “a rare student who feels entitled”.
Update: I never threatened to write a bad review. I wrote this after a detailed and personal email sharing my story was left ignored for days. Most gyms and fitness clubs honor physician’s notes if an account needs to be put on hold. This studio doesn’t have policies for special circumstances, and frankly made me feel shamed for requesting consideration for my circumstance, but markets themselves as “a community of the heart.” It is telling that my email was ignored, but this review has been commented on.

Was told after my first class I wasn't a good fit. That was uncomfortable and awkward. Lol. The other class time was too late at 7:30pm. Because I had purchased a month package I decided to attend the rest of the classes. Signed up for a second class, unfortunately I had a 2 hour drive for work and construction prevented me from getting back on time. There is no way to inform the studio you are not going to make it. They charged my card on file an additional $18.

A poor experience does not = fake review. The way this studio consistently responds to feedback affirms their mean girl culture.

I booked a Bhagavad Gita session which held on 4/8/2023. I logged on the app to do something and it just reminded me to review this place.

Paid 25 dollars and class started at 11:00. I (and several others) were at the door at 10:58. Door was locked. Messaged them about getting in, but I was essentially told I wasn’t there on time so I wouldn’t get a refund.

I am certified yoga tutor from a well renowned Yoga University from India. I don’t know what yoga they learned or they are teaching but I question their methods based on how they handled this interaction. To each their own, but I felt the need to share my experience.

Kula. Is. Awesome. I just got back from the Kula camping retreat, and it was truly a special experience. The best part was the warm and fun atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and kind from the moment I arrived. Kula truly lives up to its name (Kula means Community). Megan and the other teachers do such intentional and effective work to create a healthy culture where it’s easy to feel welcome. Our Friday night goat yoga outing was a wonderful experience of connecting with nature and finding a lightheartedness in our practice. (And I appreciate how respectful this event was regarding our goat friends’ well being.) The subtle body workshop with Danea was amazing, and the morning meditation sessions were such a great way to start the day. I left this retreat with new insights about myself, more knowledge about the yoga tradition, and a few new yoga friends. Highly recommend getting to one of these yearly retreats!

About practicing in the studio: I started practicing here a year ago. Kula is special in so many ways, but here are a few things to love about it:
1. You will actually have space to move and get into the poses. I understand why some studios are tempted to cram as many students as possible into a room, but that is not a comfortable way to practice. Kula limits class size and uses mat markers to make sure you won’t kick someone in the face when you go into three-legged dog.
2. The teachers are all so kind, fun, and knowledgeable. And they make an effort to honor the roots of yoga.
3. There are many different kinds of classes, which helps to develop a more balanced practice and learn about different types of yoga. Classes are also offered at a wide range of times, so it’s easy to find something that will work for your schedule.
4. In the summer, you can go to class either indoors or outdoors. Satya Sound classes are a special experience.
5. There are now two locations! And while there isn’t a designated Kula parking lot, there is tons of free parking near both locations.

From the moment I stepped inside the door at Kula, I knew I was home. Megan, Danae, and their team are some of the most genuine and kind people I know. Not only do I benefit greatly from yin yoga, restorative yoga, and Yoga Nidra, but I also am enriched by joy of learning new things about myself. The atmosphere and space at Kula is absolutely magical! Add in sound bath healings, Aroma-restore and AromaYin and you have a recipe for a whole new you. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can offer is this. My husband of 30 years agreed to go with me to a restorative yoga class one time. I fully expected him to never go again, however I was thrilled to be wrong. He’s as addicted as I am and it is now our Sunday night date each week. Additionally, my son and his partner love attending whenever their schedules allow. Thank you, Kula team, for changing my life for the better and opening your beautiful space to us each week! You are pure magic!

I knew from my first class that this was my new Yoga home. I had planned to try out all various studios around Grand Rapids but I don't need to do that anymore. The first class I took was Satya Sound Yoga, which was so cool and unique. The studio is beautiful, inside and outside in the driveway and garden. All the teachers have been wonderful and knowledgeable. I love it here!

My sister, Mary G, and I attended the Kula Yoga Retreat just this past weekend. An absolutely amazing experience!!! First, the setting… private, peaceful, pastoral. Sun, shade, nature. A pond & a creek. Rescue farm ducks. A walk through meadows with goats. A nighttime sound bath. Several different types of yoga classes were offered. Nourishing & delicious meals & snacks. Movie night with decadent candy. Bonfire chats. A riverside picnic with brews. Goat yoga. Chill campmates to share the experience with. Meditation. Every detail thoughtfully arranged by Megan & Danea. We returned refreshed, renewed, repurposed. The retreat far exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this studio & any events they offer. 6 stars out of 5🥰🥰🥰

I commend the entire Kula staff for making this place truly special and creating such a sacred space and energy so supportive to all no matter where you are on your yoga practice. I especially love their gentle assist touch and those popular special event classes. I highly recommend this yoga studio for those looking to truly experience the essence of Yoga and community. There is not enough space to write all the great things about Kula! I had gotten turned off by all the pretentiousness I was encountering with yoga people and the studios I was trying. Then I met Megan Rader (owner) and tried Kula...It's completely aligned with everything I though yoga was supposed to be. Open, inclusive, connecting and a community that is supportive and most of all kind. The genuine authenticity of the community spoke volumes to me about Kula. If you are looking for a space that is safe, non judgmental and where you can explore what yoga means to you THIS IS IT!!

I intended to write a review about Kula years ago and just never did! I’ve been attending Kula for the past 4 years. I’ve never experienced a yoga community that is so inviting all while providing a high quality yoga experience. From day one of buying a membership, the owner Megan introduced me to the yoga instructors and was so warm and welcoming. I love that the Kula team and community welcomes all yogis regardless of their level of experience.

I also love that Kula has more strict expectations for timely attendance. Yogis must arrive to class on time- which ultimately avoids late comers interrupting class and interrupting others yoga experience.

One thing that is SO special about Kula is the instructors typically remember you after only attending one or two classes! They are so intentional about getting to know you and helping you grow in your yoga practice.

Do yourself a favor and join Kula! You wont regret it!

I’ve been a student at Kula for 3 years and it is my favorite yoga studio in Grand Rapids. The studio really feels like home and the teachers are so talented, authentic, and kind. The owner and teachers go above and beyond each time I step into the studio space. I love how every time I walk in, each flow or class is unique and carefully curated. They offer many different classes that really can be for anyone who wants to learn more about and/or practice yoga. They also offer Buti and restorative classes which I haven’t seen at many other studios. Highly recommend checking out Buti if you have never tried it before!

Kula is thoughtful and clear about class times and it is one of the many things that I really appreciate about them. They hold me accountable with class times along with respecting other students’ experiences at Kula. I know it would be highly disruptive to other students if I walked in late or disruptive to me if other students walked into class late. Please check out the Kula website’s detailed FAQs if you have any questions about classes or expectations.

Thank you Megan and the Kula team for creating this space for the community and for me <3 love you all so much!

I've been practicing at Kula for two months now, returning to yoga since the pandemic. Kula yoga is such a welcoming and inclusive place, and truly feels like a community. I work in the hospitality industry, so it's normally hard to find a studio that offers classes within my inconsistent work schedule, but Kula Yoga has a wide variety of classes and times, so it's easy to be able to take a few classes each week. This place helps me find my balance and I would recommend the studio to anyone looking for joy in their life.

I just moved to Grand Rapids and have been in the search of a new yoga studio. I've found several other studios and gone, but so far, Kula has been the one that's felt the most like home. The instructors always greeted me by name, as if they already knew me, but I have only been a couple times. The music played is exactly what I look for during a yoga session. The environment is absolutely perfect and extremely relaxing. It even smells fantastic. Some of the instructors come through with essential oils after practice, which I love. This studio would absolutely have 5/5 stars except I wish they offered more classes and more class times! I'd love to see a slow flow class more frequently, along with more yin, but they totally have the opportunity to grow and this could also be covid related, as I haven't been during non covid times. Another bummer is you have to pay for parking. I do wish they had a voucher to reimburse parking but it's not a huge deal and certainly hasn't stopped me from going. I absolutely would recommend checking out this studio whether you're just visiting or looking for a new home studio. I've not had a bad experience yet! I will definitely be back!

I recently started my journey with yoga and have tried out most of the studios here in GR. Kula is my personal favorite studio here. Yoga outside under the beautiful tree is so so nice. I always learn something new, can feel myself getting stronger, and more confident. Can't wait for my next class :)

Kula is inclusive to all-- they even offer the same membership perks at different price points and let members pay what they wish to. And, I love supporting a local female owner whose passion and knowledge are the soul of the studio. Most of the instructors have been there since the start and each has his or her own individual style that creates great diversity within the class offerings. And the studio space? I adore Kula. It’s the only yoga studio in Grand Rapids I will go to. One of my favorite things about this studio is the calm, meditative focus of classes. Because of this, they lock the door as soon as class starts and no one is allowed to come in late so there is zero disturbance to the flow. It turns each class into such a soothing experience, like its own little world.

This DOES mean that if you’re late, you don’t get to attend class. Which is fine! It’s my responsibility to be on time to a class I signed up for. I’ve been late before and simply shrugged and said “oops, next time” like a normal person.

I have been taking classes at Kula for several years. The quality and intention of instruction is one of my favorite parts about this studio. This is a place to go if you want to take a yoga class that will allow your body to move and grow and give your mind a peaceful place to rest. Classes do start on time and if you are late you will have to try again another time. While this can be frustrating, I think it is actually modeling of holding boundaries in a very respectful way. For me, I get to know as a student that classes will always start on time and I won’t have to experience the disruption of someone coming to class late. I think it can be really hard to be so consistent about something like this and Kula gets all my admiration for living out positive and professional work values as well as offering a stellar yoga experience.

There are so many incredible things I can say about this studio. I’ll begin by saying this is the thing I miss most about moving away from Grand Rapids. This place honestly felt like coming home to me. It was as if I was going to church, but a church that was filled with deep intention and profound love and acceptance.

The skill of the teachers to be direct and concise, yet caring, allowed me to focus on my practice and get out of my head. They consistently challenge but offer options so I felt confident instead of like a failure. I always felt more balanced every time I took a class. This studio is so welcoming, every time I have arrived if it is an instructor I haven’t met, they take the time to introduce themselves and talk to me a little- so nice! They are encouraging and supportive of wherever you are in your journey. I also love the variety of class types:) Yes I have arrived a minute or two late and had the door locked when I arrived. It is clear on both the website and on MINDBODY, however, that this is the policy and one that serves the participants as a whole well. I knew it was on me to be timely and ideally give myself a few minutes before class starts. I was only charged for the class I had reserved, no additional fees- I think other reviewers are incorrect. This is a great studio who cares about their clients and their experience, and they have many interesting offerings- check them out. Even the virtual studio feels personal to me!

The presence of yoga in my life has helped me manage acute anxiety and insomnia. I always feel centered after leaving a flow at Kula. I hope that everyone can come experience this amazing studio that so many of us call home.

Leaving a five star review because my favorite studio has been getting false reviews due to one disgruntled customer showing up late, not being allowed in, and then stating she wanted to "take the studio down" in a Facebook group so she and a bunch of other rude people decided to come here and lie.

FYI, the doors are locked for our protection and to keep our belongings safe so we can relax easily. If you show up a minute after class starts, that typically means everyone else who showed up on time has been settled for a few minutes already. I appreciate the fact that the studio doesn't allow people to disrupt the entire class by disrespectfully running in late and throwing their mat down. All of their policies are posted on their website, and not to mention, the original disgruntled person incorrectly keeps posting that there are additional charges if you miss a class. Completely false.

10/10 would recommend this studio to anyone

Kula is one of those places that when you move away- you want to go back just to be in that space again. Everyone who works here is so genuine and lovely. I can not say enough good things about Kula! The instructors are excellent, and have created a wonderful environment to learn and grow. Each instructor is dedicated to making the class a comfortable and accessible experience for all. I feel lucky to have found this studio shortly after moving to Grand Rapids. I’ve taken in-person and virtual classes, and loved both.

In regards to another Google review that I saw and feel compelled to respond to… yes, the doors are locked at the beginning of class, to ensure the safety and concentration of the students. Have I myself cut it too close before, and missed a class? Absolutely. Was that the fault of Kula? Absolutely not. This is a small business, and if I pay to reserve a seat in class and then miss it, that is on me. :)

I've been a member at Kula Yoga for over a year now, and it is such a wonderful, welcoming, and inclusive studio. I love practicing yoga here. Megan and the whole team at Kula have created a space that reflects their values and brings a community together. Kula has truly been an anchor for me over the past year!

They have excellent and extremely fair membership prices, diverse class offerings, and a lot of fun workshops and special events. All of the instructors are amazing, and I always leave class feeling great. They also have an amazing virtual studio so that you can practice from home.

Kula is a welcoming and inclusive yoga community and I LOVE being a member so much! I often say that it is the first yoga studio where I have really felt like part of the community. All the teachers make a point to get to know you and learn your name. The space is beautiful, yoga is high quality and everyone is very professional. The negative review on here saying they were charged for not making it to class on time is misleading. Kula's policy does not double charge for if you miss a class, you just don't get the class fee refunded. I actually really appreciate how strict they are with the punctuality. It helps everyone be on time and class start and end uninterrupted.

If you want to give Kula a try I HIGHLY recommend you try it for yourself and see the wonderful community that is KULA YOGA! :)

I have had the pleasure of experiences over 30+ studios across the country and I assure you that nothing compares to the environment within each class at Kula in Grand Rapids. This space embodies everything I seek within a yoga studio. Attentive and loving instructors who pour into each student, a calming and welcoming environment and a space that truly supports tranquility in an otherwise chaotic world. Kula truly is something to be cherished. A fabulous yoga studio for many reasons. Highlights include: Welcoming, inclusive and sensitive space, excellent vinyasa yoga instruction, classes and events led by a kind and generous team. Kula is a great place to visit occasionally, attend classes as a regular or become part of the studio via membership ~ choose the approach that best suits your needs. I’ve been all of these, since the earlier at days on Division/Cherry location, as well as on Wealthy Street. Membership has unique benefits, but everyone is welcome at any time! Your time and investment is valued and appreciated. They even have a robust online forum accessible as well! Great options for during times of travel or less access to indoor spaces. I love Kula Yoga so much! They have affordable options and a variety of classes for all levels from Beginners to Advanced Yogis. The instructors are always so friendly and respectful of everyone’s boundaries. I am not the most advanced in my yoga practice, but I never feel pressured to push myself too far. They make a point to say hello to everyone and make each person feel safe and welcome in the studio. It’s always a very pleasant environment to be in. I’ve attended many classes over the past 2 years or so and I always feel fulfilled and happier afterwards. They do have a strict policy of locking the doors once class has started, but that’s only because showing up late disrupts the peaceful environment for those who were on time. Be prepared to give yourself extra time to park! Wealthy street is a busy area most of the time so you might have to walk a block or two.

Megan Rader and all of the teachers at Kula are warm, welcoming, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. They give very clear and specific directions in class, and the studio offers a variety of classes to meet every yogis' needs.

Their studio policies are clear and the environment is super cute and inviting. The negative reviews are a result of an adult refusing to take accountability of their time management skills. After posting a thread of misinformation (which was libelous IMO) on a social media platform, those whom have never stepped foot into this woman-owned business left false reviews. Those individuals *should* be ashamed of their juvenile actions. However, to feel any sort of shame would involve a sense of self-awareness.

Scam. As soon as they "need a credit card on file" that should be a red flag to anyone. Its so they can charge you for anything that happens to you in real life. Only place ive ever heard of that pre-charges you for a service, then locks you out of the building so you cant attend the service you paid for, then double charges you because you got locked out. Scam. Call it a cancellation fee, but lets just be honest for 2 seconds here. Cancelling is when you dont leave your house and decide not to go, not pushing through traffic, hitting 5 red lights, having no available parking and then finally getting to the door 60 seconds late to find youve been locked out. You didnt cancel anything. They cancelled you.

"...thoughtful, intentional, and accessible body-mind-and-spirit nourishing yoga."

I want to start with my only negative thought first: I have been utterly, unreservedly, and irreversibly spoiled with my yoga experience at Kula. If expectation is truly the thief of joy, I will be hard pressed to find another yoga studio that will be as dear to me as Kula.

I had minimal experience with any form of yoga before joining the Kula community -and it is a community- alongside my wife who has practiced for a number of years. I held a fair amount of anxiety before giving yoga a shot; the thought of me struggling to maintain a "beginner" pose with pros holding their entire body up on one finger was very intimidating. This feeling of anxiety quickly evaporated after my first class at Kula. To estimate my total time spent at the studio, I have practiced ~5 times weekly for over a year at Kula, so likely somewhere around 400 classes.

The space at Kula is kind, welcoming, inclusive, and fun. My almost daily journey to the studio became a ritual that I looked forward to throughout my day. The team at Kula more than lives up to their mission as stated above. Is it apparent that every teacher dedicates time and thought into their flow, their music, and a theme for the class. The foundation of the flow stays the same, with perfectly implemented uniqueness sprinkled in by whichever instructor is present for that flow. Every teacher is a gift in their own way, with different music styles, approaches to their flow, and lovable personalities.

Megan, the owner, deserves recognition for her apparent passion for her business and interest in promoting a safe, open, and relaxed community. Megan's transparent care for the Kula community is evident in her daily interactions with members, professional candor in dealing with difficult situations, and the alacrity of which she responded to any issue within the community. As an example, as temperatures began to rise during a hot summer in the recent past, within days Megan had ceiling fans installed in the studio to ensure the comfort of those practicing. Megan has always responded to every reasonable concern quickly and with care.

The pricing of membership speaks for itself. If you are concerned that lower pricing equates to poor quality, that could not be further from the truth with my experience at Kula.

In an expansive bedrock of yoga studios to choose from, Kula is a brilliant gem waiting to be discovered.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TL;DR
-Passionate owner
-Sublime teachers
-Welcoming atmosphere
-Fantastic pricing

You deserve to practice at Kula.

I've gone to almost every yoga studio in the Grand Rapids area, and after four years of a regular practice I am so happy I landed at Kula. The style of yoga is a perfect blend between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. All of the team members, especially Megan the owner, put so much thought and care behind their teaching style and how they interact with students in order to foster a positive environment. There is a lot of thought behind the community aspect and such wonderful and unique workshop offerings. I wish I could take Kula with me everywhere I go and I'll sing their praises to everyone and anyone looking to practice yoga in GR. I love you all

I’m giving two stars, because I went to two classes which were good. But I’m honestly really upset over their policies. I got the $35 for 30 day package which I was super excited about. I signed up for my first class, but got my period so I couldn’t go. I canceled within the hour & got charged $7... I didn’t even know that was their policy until the next day when I signed the agreement contract. Then, I signed up for another class & got behind because it was rush hour, I live 12 minutes away & by the time I got there, they had no parking so I had to find street parking which was a mess. I got there 5 minutes late, the door was locked and I couldn’t get in; I missed my class & got charged $14. I’m currently out of work & my therapist suggested I get back into yoga to help with my emotional & physical distress. I wanted a genuine & understanding yoga studio to go to but this place isn’t it. If you have loads of money & an uptight attitude, then this place might be right for you! I will not be returning; I’m truly very upset.

I wish they had made it clear on their website that you MUST register online before coming if you are going to be a new student. When I showed up for a class I was very much looking forward to and was turned away bc they claimed they didnt have room for one extra person. Folks are lovely and they have a deep desire to build a welcoming, community centric space. All the teachers have a talent for remembering names and are supportive of helping you learn. I can only speak to the flow classes, which are a nice balance of consistency (they do a two set sequence every time) with an always changing arrangement of poses. Inversions are uncommon, twisting and one leg balance is always present, serious hip opening work. Love this place.

What a wonder place Kula Yoga is. They've remodeled an entire house so not only does the outside look nice and adds value to the community, but the inside is charming as well.

My first time there was for a sound bath, which I had never done. I didn't know what to expect so I went in with an open mind. Being open to new experiences is crucial because it allows the present to just flow and happen.

The sound bath was over an hour long (75 minutes I believe). You lay in a darkened room on a mat, still for the entire time, or however you please. There were many variations of sounds, so it was like Megan (instructor) took you on a unique journey.

I enjoyed myself and I look forward to trying it again, along with the other services they offer.

I recently moved to the Grand Rapids area and discovered Kula after a quick search of nearby studios. I was looking for a space where I could regain physical strength and focus after a few very stressful months (and a few years of not being physically active).

Kula has become my sanctuary. The teachers and students have been so welcoming and supportive, and the workshops and monthly Sound Bath are an amazing complement to the classes. I had never practiced yoga consistently until joining this studio. Now I revel in the challenge and joys of this practice, and feeling stronger from both a mind and body perspective.

The classes have pushed me beyond my comfort zone, and the teachers assist and guide classes in a way that is both incredibly helpful and thoughtful. I’m so grateful to have found this yoga community, which has given me the gifts of feeling both grounded and empowered to the point where I can and will keep pushing forward on my journey to becoming my healthiest self.

There aren't words that do justice in explaining how amazing Kula is. I was always incredibly intimidated by yoga, and studios, and other people doing yoga around me. So, when I found Kula I was a little reluctant and nervous. However, this studio is the least judgemental, and most accepting place to practice. I have never felt like I didn't belong, or wasn't "good" enough at yoga to participate. Everyone that goes to Kula has the same outlook, and the same openness. The instructors are wildly knowledgeable, but they also get down there with you, and flow through the poses, as they are teaching. They truly understand the struggles of each yogi, and help you hone in your practice to what best suits you. They encourage you to try new things, and help you build up to some of the more difficult poses. They will walk you through step-by-step, and when you finally nail that one elusive pose, they are just as excited and ready to celebrate as you are! The owner, Megan, is beautifully well educated in yoga, and actually offers teacher training. The majority of teachers at Kula graduated from her class, and have her same passion, vivacity, and sheer joy about yoga. A couple weeks ago, I unrolled my mat for class, and who should plop down right next to me? Megan. She takes the classes, right there with you, as do the other instructors. Kula truly embodies what a community is, and accepts everyone that walks through that door. I can't imagine myself at any other studio!

Where do I even start... I don't have enough words to describe how in love I am with Kula. From the minute I entered the studio, I immediately felt home. I love that Kula offers so many different types of classes as well as frequent workshops designed to enrich your knowledge, practice, and foundation of yoga. Regardless of which class style I take or which instructor is teaching that class, I know that I will be challenged and will grow in my practice and knowledge of yoga, and I will most definitely have fun, especially at a Buti class!! Every teacher is genuine, knowledgeable, helpful, kind, caring, and phenomenal, which is a direct reflection on the quality of having gone through Megan's teacher training. Her teaching makes yoga accessible for every yogi out there, regardless of your experience level. She is thorough, dedicated, cares about each person's yoga journey and seeing them grow in their practice, and that shows in every class, and through every teacher at the studio. I know that I am getting the same quality experience in every class, which I feel is rare to find at a studio. No matter your style, no matter your experience level, there is a class for you.
