So I went to LA fitness for a couple months my honest expirence is people are nice but all the equipment is nasty never clean, all the cardio machines are old rusted out even with the smith machines I couldn’t even tell you how nasty the bathrooms were couldn’t even dry your hands with paper towel a zynn was in the bathroom urnel for over 2 months when I was their and when I left everytime I worked out their are crap all in the cup holders like napkins all random things and gum stuck inside the cup holder they never clean the free weight area dust on the floor and just nasty hottub but locked for over 2 months their is sand in the pool aswell the whole entire time I’ve been at the gym and the bathrooms are nasty all dust in the celings lots of hair and other things in the bathroom and locker room and showers all kept dirty and never kept clean pretty much no sanitation ever so I do not recommend going here at all very very gross even the outside is not well kept either can’t even see through the windows to the pool because how dirty the windows are then on top of that all I did a 150 down payment. And all equipment rusted and never clean. So that’s why I don’t recommend this gym could honeslty go to edge or planet for a better gym and nicer people

My husband has been going there for a few years now , but recently has told me this place is going down hill . The hot tub has been broken for weeks . Some of the machines are out order ! He had gone to another one , and find a much better conditions. So is the owner losing interest , I think you need to either take some pride in your business and keep it up to a high standards or pass it on to someone who will .

This is a great gym to be a part of. I've been working out here daily for over 10 years and have no interest in going anywhere else. The hot tub and pool are down sometimes for maintenance and repairs but that comes with the territory.

I've been to almost every LA fitness in the area, this one is my favorite. This place is fairly large, has a decent amount of equipment, pool, jacuzzi, basketball court, 4 racquetball courts, smoothie bar. This place does get crowded around 4pm and 7pm.

I’m not sure where to begin. Let’s start when you walk in. You scan yourself in . The employees working the desk and rarely even look up and let alone acknowledge anyone’s existence. Fine. But beyond that this place is absolutely disgusting!! Like filthy! They have one elderly cleaning woman that from what I can tell and others is the only one that actually does anything in this establishment. She can’t keep up. But it’s full of employees . Sittting at their desks .. taking selfies in the mirrors and reapplying their lipstick. Most machines are damaged.. rusted.. and not well kept. This is the dirtiest .. full staffed gym I have ever had the displeasure of belonging too. If corporate sees this? Give your cleaning lady a raise! She’s over worked and I’m sure underpaid.

Signed up at LA fitness mainly because I wanted access to a gym with a hot tub and dry sauna. The first day I go to use it. The hot tub is lukewarm. Talk to some of the guys in the dry sauna and they say it's been that way for months. Sometimes it's not even up working. I canceled my membership.

I like all the things LA offers as a gym ~ group classes, pool, hot tub, and sauna. I haven't had an issue with being able to do what I need to do no waiting at all!

In all honesty, let me start with the fact that it sucks that this is the only Gym that has both weights and a basketball court. If this gym didn't have that ONE amenity, I highly doubt it'd be as popular as it is.

Moving on to why I suggest you just give up on this gym and this specific location:
A friend of mine moved back into town and wanted to get back into the gym, so I generated a 7 day pass for him to redeem to test and see if he can remain consistent.
After going to this location, and them wasting 15-20 minutes of time during the walkthrough of their "new gym member" script, they let us know that they apparently don't have a 7 day free trial anymore and basically said me generating this and it OBVIOUSLY being an option in my LA Fitness app, means nothing.
At that point, they then tried to force a membership on my friend stating that "they can give a discount".
Excuse me? We came in for a trial to see if it's even worth it and if he can remain consistent.

On top of that, they made it seem as though this was a proper deal. Not only would we pay the first and last month for my buddy, we would have had to pay the initiation fee. And they also pitched the membership that comes with a guest pass...which we didn't need since he'd only ever be coming with me. Basically, they tried to force us to not only sign up my buddy, but also sign up for something he didn't need.

The predatory practices at this location are pathetic and I'm hoping this review will help others not fall for it. And I'm hoping someone at management sees this and does something about it. (Though they probably won't since I'm certain they're all connected in some way) But who knows, maybe someone at corporate will do something. Clean house maybe? One can only wish.

Conclusion: Go to another LA Fitness location to at least sign up. Other locations are a BIT better, not by much, but I can confirm they don't force you into a membership and can also confirm the 7 day VIP trial is an actual thing.
But if you can avoid signing up for LA Fitness all together, I'd highly recommend that as the first option.

This is what i almost swallowed at the pool today. The sweet little manager chased me to make sure i throw it away then provoked to get me aggressive, and finally called the cops on me for trespassing 😂

I’ve already contacted the health department but in case they don’t get shut down for a thorough cleanup, have this parasite in mind when you go there again. I’ve seen hair, bandaids floating and some other crap before but this did it. These things can get in your ear easily, possibly in your urinary tract or nose especially when smaller. It’s all fun and games but when it’s people’s health there’s no other way but reporting to the authorities.

This is my home gym. It has a sauna and a pool. The only thing it doesn't have here is the track for running but they offer the normal weightlifting equipment. Aunt ellipticals treadmills bike machines free weights and offer personal training if needed. What I like about this location. It offers a boost nutrition which is always a plus.

The front desk people are completely disrespectful and dismissive. One of them was too busy talking to her parents who don’t even have a membership, but my friend who has been going there for 4 years always has trouble getting allowed in for some reason. The hot tub at this location has been out of service for over a week, and it’s disappointing that it hasn’t been repaired yet. Reasonably priced comparatively to other health clubs and offers everything I need in a health club. Does it offer as much as LifeTime Fitness, no. But LifeTime is over priced in my opinion because it offers things I don't need. Some might be impressed with them offering towels and toiletries but hey, I can bring my own and save more than 50% on the annual cost. Some LifeTime clubs have tennis courts but i play for free on public courts. Their pool is extremely large, more resort like, and family fun oriented. LA Fitness pool is much smaller and designed for exercise, what I would use it for. And there are other examples. My advice to those trying to decide what club to join is decide what you are looking for in a healthclub, and find one that meets your goals/needs. If you want all the bells and whistles, and that club is within your budget, I say go for it.
Suggestions for LA Fitness leadership team: 1) the locker room, showers, and bathrooms at this site are not being taken care of as good as it has been in the past. It is not terrible; yet I suggest you improve it. That is the reason I gave a rating of 4 instead of 5 stars. 2) As stated above i look for a club that offers what I want at the best price. The racquet ball courts utilization is low and pickle ball is all the rage. I suggest you keep one racquet ball court which I think will meet the demand and turn the others into a pickle ball court. Minor capital investment to offer was is popular currently. Change is inevitable to stay competitive in today's market. Suggest collecting metrics and using the data to stay current and competitive.

I hate to write this review cause I love la fitness and their staff, I just moved out here, and this is my first time going to this LA fitness, so I was excited for the various selections, Unfortunately it seems like they aren’t happy with my first arrival. After coming out of one of the rooms where I usually bring the weights with me, and to mention there were other weights that weren’t placed by me, I left my weights in there to run to the bathroom real quick, when I’m tapped by one of instructor/staff (I had my headphones in, but she tapped me a little too hard but I kept my calm) she asked me could I take those weights out, half of them weren’t mine but I always put my weights back after I’m finished, but I was at the verge of peeing on myself lol, I said of course I gotchu, then I ran to the bathroom, I’m sweaty and tired, so I take a few minutes to get my self together, and catch a little air. I come back n the weights were gone, I said “oh no there gone, I went to the bathroom really quick, I was gonna help” because I felt bad, she responds with a “we don’t have time to wait on you” with a stern attitude. I walked away went up to the desk and filed a complaint. The instructor/ staff is a short white female. With long dreadlocks and wears a hat. It was a harsh first day, wish you guys have more nicer staff. Just rude snd disrespectful.

went in to try the gym with plans on getting a membership if i liked it, right when i walked in the guy at the first desk said “oh are you hooping? that’s gonna be $20” and then tried to charge me to go play basketball. so if i was just there to work out i can use a guest pass but if i want to try the basketball court (part of the gym) i have to pay $20, why would i pay $20 for a day when the membership itself is $30 and ive never been there before to know if i want a membership yet. on top of that the lady at the front desk was sitting on her phone and no one’s greeting anyone.

and then called their “membership director” Noah who tried arguing with me and telling me “if you’ve played basketball before you don’t need to try the court they’re all the same” and argued with me and cut me off every time i tried to speak. when i told him no one greeted me he said im talking bad and the girl has an injured back and i hung up and he tried calling me back… to argue? horribly ran gym and horrible customer service.

During my visit to the gym on a guest pass, I had an unfortunate experience with Jordan, the manager, who repeatedly asked if I was ready to leave. Although there were other guests in the gym on passes, I was singled out. The only noticeable difference between the other guests and me is that I’m African American. I had initially been interested in joining the gym because of its quality facilities, but I want to be part of a community where I am treated with respect and fairness. In 2024, it is disheartening to encounter discrimination in spaces meant for wellness and inclusivity. I will be following up on this experience with Membership Director Nick Stanley, as everyone deserves to feel welcomed and valued.

Must be a lot of boomers who signed up for their fist gym memberships making all these negative reviews. This is a busy gym, that said, its large so there is always a free machine, bench or treadmill available at all times of day. The place is not sparkly clean, but its fine. If you're a germaphobe, its probably best to mask up and not leave the house anyway. Like I said, its a busy gym and its on the budget side. It couldn't possibly be cleaned between each of the hundreds of daily guests. If you want a convenient gym that has all the equipment you will ever need to workout, and you focus on the workout, you will like it here.

Basketball court is busy on most times I go. Sometimes its wide open and I'll shoot around to warm up.

The sauna is great. The showers are fine. Always hot water. Just wear flips flops like you would at any other public shower situation, or not- nobody cares.

The only remotely negative thing I'll say is more of a suggestion. Ditch the sanitary wipe things and just put bottles of sanitary spray and towels everywhere. There would be no excuse not to wipe down a bench if a spray bottle and towel were next to it. The problem now is that the wipes are too far from most things and they also tend to dry up fast. My two cents about this "cleanliness problem".

This was a huge waste of my money! I signed up looking to improve weight and shape. I even signed up for a personal trainer. I must say the trainer was a nice guy, very knowledgeable, just bad with time. Had many of my training sessions alone since he didn't show up! I also had numerous days trying to workout, and would find the equipment broke. equipment seems to NEVER be cleaned/disinfected or maintained!!! Bathroom/shower/locker room were just unhealthy, always had hair on the floor, dirty toilets, and slimy/sticky locker handles and benches. I like to swim laps, but after the third time seeing a person in their underwear (tidy whities) jump in the hot/pool, i had enough. I talked with the manager after the 3rd time. gave it a month or two, and still saw it over and over again. told manager again and was told they did all they can do!!! I know its a business and the manager will says it the employees, how ever ever since the new manager came in its gotten worse! don't waste your money, find a better gym!!!!!!

Very dirty. These are pics of the woman's locker room. There was so much hair in the first 2 shower stalls it was disgusting. Someone either póoped or puked on the floor in the stall. The pool needs a good cleaning and sanitizing. The water was cloudy. Nobody ever takes a shower before getting into the pool or the hot tub. That hot tub has to be a germ pool. The front desk staff is non existent or when they are there they are rude. I waited one day for at least 5 minutes for the male behind the desk to acknowledge me. He was busy eating his granola bar with his face buried in his phone. He never looked up or acknowledged anyone that came in the door. Seems to be the trend. My favorite part is the Sauna!! But this is a great gym! Not too big, not too small. They are usually pretty quick to fix any broken equipment, and they keep it clean. They offer classes, and you can sign up for a personal trainer at an additional cost. The trainers are cool and help you stay motivated and achieve your fitness goals.

Never cleaned, hand sanitizer has been missing for literal months, every locker in the men’s Locker room is filthy. Sauna is disgusting. Aerobics room never even dusted. Yoga Mats smell like BO. Only positive thing about this gym is the boxing bags. Being that only 3/5 are left.

I didn’t like the way how the talk with people, the talk to you only to convince you to pay more programs but when they charge you they don’t give the right info . The manager never called you back when you call and I don’t know when they say all the time am taking notes to let her yo call back because she never did . And also the charged me two time when I freeze my membership because the girl that worked there she froze only gym and not my program she forget and I cal for refund they never did am about to cancel at Shelby location just because of that

Staff is a disappointment, I will never recommend a guest again. I'd leave but luckily I am grandfathered in to a low rate and I don't need the staff to work out.
Just to follow up 4 years later, I still only use this facility for my convenience. The bathrooms are still not cleaned often enough, garbage cans over flowing and paper towel often gone. At this point, I think the owners need to step up their game.

The Gym alone is well priced for what you get, Basketball Court, Pool, Sauna, Standard Gym equipment. The reason for the 2 stars is the personal training program they aggressive will try to coerce you in. I signed up for a 1 year contract at a very pricey cost. The actual training was beneficial and I want to commend one of the Personal Trainers Jalil for helping me a lot, but the business side of it was very misleading. I was charged for another month after my contract ended with no approval or anything. I contacted the personal training staff and they informed me that sessions would carry over and they proceeded to give me the run around instead of just saying it automatically continues to charge you unless you cancel it yourself. I called them again demanding to be done with this personal training they then told me "You need to come into the gym to cancel this training (a process that couldve easily be handled over the phone and they will not refund you for this month) ok i decided to just continue it as the last month. As the month ended i still had 4 sessions (they originally said would carry over regardless if i chose to continue the contract) that i already paid for that they ripped from my account and essentially scammed me 200 dollars. It is a fair priced gym but beware of the aggressive personal training campaign that LA Fitness pushes. They continuously called me. And then wouldnt give me time to think over the contract.

Other than the showers not being clean and the little clear room and bathroom is always freezing, the gym is pretty nice. I hope they find a replacement for the water aerobics class on Thursdays, because that's one of my favorite classes.

This location is always dirty. Yesterday there was not any toilet paper or paper towel in the women’s bathroom/locker room. When I told the front desk they said their only female janitor has a broken foot so nothing can be done !!!!! I’m so disappointed and disgusted with this gym . After the 2 months that I paid for is up I’m never coming back. The equipment is filthy too .

It used to be better, but past few months; Bathrooms, Sauna and showers are now extremely dirty. Sometimes there are no paper towels, toilet seat covers, body wash. Shower curtains are dirty too. This used to be a better LA as compared to other ones around, even better than the Signature ones around, but now it's just gone downhill.

The gym is absolutely filthy. There is a disgusting odor coming from the weight lifting part of the gym. There are the same clumps of hair, dirty band aids, and piles of garbage lying around for 3 months now . I would never give any of my personal/financial information to this company as they will constantly call you trying to upsell your membership or unethically charge your bank for unauthorized transactions. PLEASE go anywhere else but LA fitness.

I loved this gym when I first started attending 8 years ago but now the gym is run down and dirty so I have been attending other gyms. They do little to maintain the equipment. Many of the pads are ripped or dented, rusty machines, and the carpet is really dirty. There are no spray bottles to clean machines when completed with a set. Classes are always being cancelled without app update. Disappointing to see the decline of this place. It needs a remodel and deep cleaning ASAP. The LA on Mound received a makeover and it looks amazing.

It's a great gym overall, they always try and keep it clean. If you go on the weekend evenings the bathrooms and lockers aren't always the best. After 5pm weekdays it gets very busy also. Hope that helps. Been coming here for over 10 years one of the best La Fitness around!

I’ve been working out at the LA fitness on hall road for roughly 3 years. It is now November 28, 2022 and their equipment is absolutely horrible. They have rips in almost 80% of the training equipment and about 80% of their machines that are cardio are absolutely broke. There is no TVs there sounds in all the equipment nothing is operational. If you just step on it the noise is the stair steppers makes are absolutely horrible.
