This is NOT the premiere club as stated!

Longtime member and have watched the maintainence drop off. That includes the facilities and equipment.

The Cardio equipment TV's are all nearly broken with only a small handfull that work.

The two televisions in the mens locker room are a joke and do not understand why they even turn them on.

Maintenance of machines when it comes to replacing wornout bearings is lacking.

There are a couple of weight resistance machines that have such worn out bearings the equipment is unusable.

The locker room and workout area cleanliness is sometimes lacking. The restrooms being the worse.

If the club improves I will update this review. In the meantime, it has a failing grade.

It’s okay but definitely dirty & the only two row machines have been broken since I signed up months ago. They do fix the weight machines on time though but they are sticky and rusted indicating that they don’t use the proper lubricants and don’t repair things properly. If you want to stretch, use some machines and free weights it works okay, but it’s not too well maintained for a few things. Overall the weights are great though and everyone is nice here. I just think I will try a different gym when my membership is up due to cleanliness and the rusty, sticky glute kick back machine, and rusty sticky calf press among other ones.

Today I went to LA Fitness 7 Mile at Middlebelt. I was only there for about 30 minutes. I decided to leave early because there's no supervision on the gym floor. The men pile 45 pound weights on the machines and leave them on the machines. So if you're a female and you want to use the legg press for instance... You would have to remove all those weights left on the machine. Also the men sit around on the equipment vwith their phones out taking videos of the women. This makes me uncomfortable training there. When I mention these things to the staff... No one cares. Anyways, I decided to leave early and go another gym. As I was leaving, I forgot my sweater on the bike right across from the front desk. I went back to The 7 Mile location to get my sweater... It was gone. I asked for the manager who was sitting at the front desk like he didn't want to be bothered. I was met with attitude. I asked him what his name was... He asked me why I'm asking for his name. He was nonchalant, didn't bother to help me locate my very expensive sweater. He was rude. I was surp this guy was the manager... He doesn't even greet the members. He doesn't speak to anyone except certain individuals. I'm going to have to find a new location to train at. This place is starting to remind me of the 12 Mile Telegraph location, which has closed down... I can see why. That location was a DUMP!

😏🫨 they have no integrity insight this whole place need to be Sued I just called up their today because I was trying to put somebody else on my account. Today is September 3, 2025. I’ve been paying my money up here for years and never had this happen to me.. To where I call up there for assistance, To see if he can help me with what I need because that’s the reason I’m calling. Only for the person to hang up in my face. Not only was that disrespectful and I get that the person might be young. Then when I asked to speak to a manager and the manager does not understand the company policy That I’m sure that just broke just Regarding my situation that just happened. Now I’m gonna have to find another gym and take my money back from a place that just disrespected me when all I was asking for was assistance and it never this happened before.The manager was trying to protect the employee with their ignorance. The place is clean. They do a nice job of keeping up on it. Their biggest problem is most of the treadmills do not work. TV is broken and or the whole machine just broken. I’ve complained several times over the past few months, and nothing is done.
Not everybody is there to use weight machines. I don’t see how anybody could give this place at 3.9 when most of their treadmills don’t work.

I've been a member since the end of July 2024! This location is my favorite! In the gym 3-5 times a week, you want it to feel like a home away from home. It truly does! Everyone I've interacted with is so welcoming and helpful. Special recognition to Justin and Myla! If that wasnt enough, the facilities are very clean, and their classes are great too! Also they “just fixed” the seating in the men’s sauna, however I noticed a nail poking out in one of the wooden seats, informed an employee, and a week later it’s still there which obviously just shows how much they don’t care.

I got FOLLICULITIS from their HOT TUB… Water was super gray looking should’ve never got into the hot tub but I did…. Worst mistake I was only in there for 15 minutes or less. My friend and I smelt like the smell your clothes get when you leave them in the washer for too long…. Just nasty.

This location is decent enough if you go during non-peak hours. Horribly overcrowded during peak hours. Lots of overflow coming from surrounding areas now that many other locations are permanently closed. And no, members can't reserve three pieces of equipment by putting their personal belongings on the machines. Really have to implement an etiquette policy of using one machine per person at a time Half these people have no sense about them and they're actually proud of it. Won't be back to this location.

Absolutely Disappointed – LA Fitness Needs a Major Clean-Up

I’ve been to many gyms, but LA Fitness has to be one of the most disappointing when it comes to cleanliness. From the moment you walk in, there’s a noticeable musty odor — and it only gets worse the closer you get to the locker rooms. The bathrooms and sauna straight up smell like urine. It’s not just a one-time thing either — this seems to be the standard.

The floors are often wet and dirty, lockers are broken or rusty, and don’t even get me started on the showers. For a gym that charges this much, basic hygiene should be a priority. I’ve even seen paper towels and used hygiene products left lying around with no staff in sight for hours.

It honestly feels like management has completely checked out when it comes to maintaining the facility. The equipment is fine, but when you’re working out in a place that smells like a sewer and looks like it hasn’t been deep-cleaned in months, it kills all motivation.

People pay for a health club, not a health hazard. LA Fitness, do better.

They offer a good amount of amenities for the price but maintenance is almost non-existent. If something breaks, expect it to be out of order for at least a month. Sauna has been down on two occasions in the past four months, only operational for two out of those four months. Hot tub has been down for three weeks and counting.

Not to mention the dozen machines that have been out of order for months, alongside many well used machines that should be replaced. No one can tell you how much longer something will remain broken, they only know a maintenance request was submitted weeks ago.

I dont know how people think this gym is clean but the bathrooms are never clean. Trash is always full in the womens locker rooms/bathroom. The sauna is gross and needs to be redone. The floors are dirty. Front desk staff is not very friendly. They never refill their sanitize wipes for the machines. The step climber machines are constantly broken. The only reason worth coming here is for the workout classes that are run by great trainers. Otherwise I think even Planet Fitness has much cleaner facilities and better machines. It was a very nice, clean gym in the beginning when it opened in 2015. But definitely needs many updates now.

The la fitness membership allows you to visit different facilities. I’m considering going back to planet fitness. The wet area/shower area has been filthy,nasty,and stinking at these facilities. Joined this gym 6 months ago. The community at this gym is top notch. People know each other's name, spot each other on exercises, teach each other. I couldn't have been more lucky to have my home gym be this one. Andrew and the staff are very friendly as well. Feel honored to be apart of this community.

Updated after a year to 3 stars due to staff changes and members leaving behind messes in the locker room bathrooms and in the lockers themselves. Most of the time equipment is in good condition and fixed quickly but seems to break often too. The regular gym goers and long time staff and have continued to be great parts of the gym.

I have been coming to this particular LA Fitness for years and it was always clean. However, the cleaning now is soooo subpar. The ladies locker room is always dirty. I come for days and see the same paper and items on the floor, in the shower and in the sauna. For the prices that they charge for their membership, it’s so shameful and unacceptable how this place have deteriorated over the years. My experience with Jerome was super unpleasant to say the least. He confused upselling with being argumentative. He was way too argumentative and down for back and forth. When I declined joining he told me I had negative energy and ignored me when I asked why. But proceeded to ask for my number for the pass. JEROME I don’t have to explain to you why I like one gym better than the other it’s my personal preference and if I decline that’s what it is! Wish they had a 0 rating for this poorly managed gym. My experience here has gotten progressively worse over the multiple years I’ve been a member. They hire front desk kids who don’t care and let members do whatever they want there no matter if it ruins others experience. There is usually always multiple ppl playing their stereo loudly on the gym floor and in the locker room. There’s also gym bros that go with 3-4 of their friends and take up entire sections of the gym. They let the members be rude as hell and it has made the environment unbearable. After my most recent visit on Sunday I’m canceling my membership. There’s a reason they keep having deals to get ppl in the door. Get some decent management to turn this place back into a decent gym

I've been to a number of different LA Fitness locations and so far this one is my absolute favorites. It is enormous in size and squeaky clean from end to end! It's rare to find any machine down, and if so, they are up and running in no time. The staff is always friendly, helpful and cordial every time I visit. I especially enjoy talking to Andy at the front desk on weekdays. He's seems knowledgeable on whats going on in the club, and takes a personal interest in the members themselves.

This used to be a favorite LA to go to but lately most of the machines are broken and the space is generally not clean. I thought it was an off day, but it's clear there's no urgency to maintain the space. The staff is clearly not paid enough to care which is odd because membership is very expensive.

I sign d up for a personal training contract with this gym. The first several months things were great. Over the last several months we have seen a huge staff turnover, machines broken all the time, and dirty facilities. Paid for personal training and then management ghosted us after our trainer left.

May very well be the best LA I’ve ever been too. Makes the royal oak location looked like a SF needle exchange.
The woman that runs this place is the absolute best. Terrific manager, she should run the country probably.
This LA is the only reason I keep my membership.

Decent club - generally very clean. Front desk staff is hit or miss. They don't use the app very well and to alert members like they should about changes like pool closures and class cancellation.

Ann is the best maintenance / Staff worker their if she was not their I would of done cancel my membership. She keeps the place very clean. However their upholstery needs to be fixed. It is cracked and torn and pokes me all the time in the back. I bought a membership for 3yrs paid in full. However my membership is coming up again and I am going to go some where else if they dont fix these benches and upholstery its ridiculous. Obviously they need to increase the pay scale of their few good workers here because the turn over rate is sad. I need a response from corporate today or someone.

The most cleanest, LA fitness I’ve ever been in. The staff is cool af and the design is amazing. I love the turf. It gives a come get it in type of vibe. Only thing missing for me is towels

I've been going to this location for about 6 months now. I really like the size and the equipment they offer. However "new management" has taken away the spray bottles to wipe off the equipment you want to use. Forcing us to use the sanitizer and soap dispensers on the walls that take FOREVER to come out. This took up so much time causing me to cut my workout short. They could at least leave a few spray bottles in certain areas like other gyms. Very disappointing.

We’ve had an up an down experience. Gym was wonderful when started, but noticed a drastic decline over the next couple of months. However, a new manager was brought in at beginning of April and the difference is incredible. Machines are working, the gym is clean, and workers are attentive. If you have been upset with the gym recently, I would encourage you to give it another chance.

Great online deals for memberships. Location is clean, and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is in good working condition. Restrooms are clean and stocked. Disinfectant bottles are available for personal use. Several wall stations for hand sanitizer and form for equipment is spaced nicely around the gym. They offer a ton of classes: water aerobics, spin, Zumba, etc available on monthly calendar with times and instructors.

Deceptive tactics to try to enroll you as a member and the gym needs more cleaning stations. Did not find members were wiping down their machines when I visited. I strongly do not recomend.

This gym used to be very nice and the equipment was always working, but now machines have been broken for months, especially the bikes. Today. May 25, we tried talking to an employee, who fixes the plumbing, etc. and asked him and he rudely said I'm not the manager, that's corporate. If the equipment isn't able to be fixed, maybe it should be replaced.

UPDATE 11/29/2022: They have fixed the machines and have really stepped up the cleaning again. Great job LA Fitnees North!

Been here since 2019. Now they've reduced the number of squat racks to 2 without giving a thought to the fact that their squat racks were already high traffic areas. I'm gonna start looking for other gyms.

This place was decent a year ago when I started going and after management switched this place went downhill. One of the biggest issues there is the cleanliness of the club. The customer service there isn't great you could barely get the employees at the desk to greet you. The employees there don't take pride in the company's brand. I went in to cancel my membership and a thin-built, male employee with blonde hair was on his phone leaned over in the chair with an unprofessional demeanor. The employee appeared as if he barely wanted to stop his conversation to answer my question he was very dismissive and ignorant of the company policy. He could not tell me why I had to wait until a specific person is there to cancel my membership. This explains why I am canceling my membership at this place.

It was LA fitness since 2018, then became esporta so I joined and now again it is LA fitness. Thankfully they converted my membership to LA fitness with same perks. Facility is good, it is the cali style single floor facility. Being new gym all machines and facilities are newer and functioning. Pool basketball courts are great. Staff is very friendly. All in all a good recreation/fitness center

I am close to the Royal Oak LA Fitness (less than 10 minute drive) and it is so disgusting that I drive all the way to this location (over 20 minute drive) to workout. They are wayyyyy cleaner, have better none rusted working equipment, and I don’t feel like I’m going to catch some unknown disease by working out here (again this is how filthy the RO signature club is). I haven’t had to interact with the employees much so I cannot speak to the customer service. I’ve seen them walking around picking up weights and straightening up. A few cardio machines are out of service but that beats over 10 treadmills being broken at the RO location. I’ve read some of the negative reviews and maybe because I’m so used to the quality of the other location that this one seems like workout paradise in comparison.

Very reasonably priced. Has most of free weight machines and squat racks. But it is a 3 star because of the following 2 reasons:
When a machine breaks, they take months to service it. There is only 1 low row machine and it was broken for more than 3 months for example. There are 3 lat pull down down machines and 2 were broken for 2 months. These are just 2 examples.
Second, the gym does not have a cross cable machine like other locations.
