Extremely disappointed and concerned with the lack of staff presence and accountability at this LA Fitness location. While visiting recently with my daughter, we were harassed by another individual at the gym. What made the situation worse—and frankly unacceptable—was that there was no staff member or manager anywhere to be found to assist or intervene. The front desk was completely unattended, and there were no employees visible on the floor either.

This created an environment where we felt unsafe and unsupported. A gym should be a place where all members feel secure, and there should always be staff on hand to deal with these types of situations.

I’m sharing this experience in hopes that management will take safety and supervision more seriously moving forward.

I had a membership and the trainer's incompetence and excessive pricing were alarming. Initially, he prescribed a series of workouts that resulted in a severe arm injury due to his lack of expertise. Furthermore, I was charged for several months despite not attending sessions, contrary to the agreed-upon month-to-month arrangement. The individual who enrolled me misrepresented the terms and continued to charge my card, despite assurances that I could make monthly cash payments.

They just don’t know when to stop I had a family plan called and canceled it plus the child care. When I called I was informed no more bills and yet they have been charging me every month since I canceled called them they told me to call member services because they can’t refund me. I called member services and they said they can’t refund me the full amount I asked for a supervisor and they told me they will have them call instead of putting me on hold to see if a supervisor was available and I probably won’t be getting a call. It’s so crazy I was told no more billing will be happening no more money will be taken from me but look at this now I can’t get all my hard earned money back because of their employee error.

I love this place for my workouts. It is clean and the staff is very helpful. The machines are kept in working order, and the pool/sauna/hot tub are clean and fresh. Facility and equipment seems really outdated, with old equipment that's beat up, parts missing and wall art that looks like 2001?

Was told it would cost about 90$ to restart my membership from an inactive one and then got charged 180 for the standard new one ????

Definitely in the need of some help.

After the day, weights are left around and this seems pretty out of sorts.

The men's locker room was fine and sauna/pool functional.

I'd love to see if they could fix this billing issue, but my expectations are low and it makes me sad.

I used to love this gym it was amazing to come work out an take a much need sauna specially with my asthma it helps alot but lately the equipment is always in need of service n its hot as balls in here so I dont think the ac works .For the 3rd time in a couple months the sauna for the women has been down unable to be used . La Fitness at 31055 Gratiot Ave. in Roseville, MI is a very good place to increase physical condition, for rehabilitation and to enjoy the contact with water (cold and hot).
Unfortunately, this place has had a big management problem for several years, which has to do with keeping the equipment (especially the machinery) in good working condition. Since a few months, there is a new manager (female) who tries to work properly, but she is not capable of meeting all the requirements. Again, the equipment is damaged and no one knows when it will be fixed, again, the cleanliness in the locker rooms and in the shower rooms does not meet the requirements, again, the lockers in the locker rooms should be repaired... Each new broom sweeps correctly, but when it begins to accustom itself to its tasks, then it becomes indifferent to the tasks of the environment, which is not favorable when dealing with a large amount of people.
I believe that the management of this facility should start working actively and solve problems immediately. As an example, let me give the address of another La Fitness location, 22327 Moross Rd, Detroit, MI. There the management is working efficiently to the satisfaction of the users.

I personally like to train at this gym, it’s spacious and have all the machines, exercises, and training that I’m looking for. It comes equipped with punching bags unlike most gyms, a members pool and spa and so much more. There’s even a smoothie booth, which is cool.

What is the deal with the pool?? Shut down for a monthl then finally fixed but the water is too cold!
Please keep the water a proper temperature, not hard to do! According to web site ehould be 85°. It was so cold people were leaving the aqua swim class!

Please make sure people don't use the stairs to sit on. I need to use hand rail and people will sit on the stairs blocking the use of handrails! So rude! There are chairs and benches to sit on dont sit on the steps.

The machines are clean. The front desk people are really friendly, professional and helpful.

It’s pretty disappointing that this is the state of the facility when they first open. This will is the third time in a month that there has been no paper towels or toilet paper in the men’s restroom right at open. When notifying the only employee in the building her response each time has been, “custodians don’t arrive til 2, I don’t know where supplies are kept, i can’t call anyone, I can’t access the supply closet.”

The operations manager nor corporate seem to care either because I’ve not been contacted and the issues persist. Very disappointed in this location.

I came back after 7 years of not going to the gym and I came back and there are signs on a good portions of machines that say they are out of service. The attachments for the cables are destroyed. What a joke! Where do I begin? Hot tub has been broken for months with no plan to fix, pool heater is broken as well. Showers are usually filthy. No paper towels in the bathroom.

Kalil Andrews signed me up for training sessions but that’s about all he’s good for. I have completed 1 training session in over a month because the “trainers” don’t work past 4-5pm so I’d have to quit my job to be able to train. Every “trainer” here is completely full of themselves and I don’t take any of them seriously. I’m canceling my membership and seeking a refund for my training sessions that they never had time to schedule. What a joke! Zero stars if I could. Rude employees, dirty business/building. David Teslak is another example of a trainer that should be working at a gas station.

This place is never cleaned...there is mold on the ceiling in the bathrooms for the last year. They are more concerned about selling you a new membership than the cleanliness of the bathrooms, etc. The showers have missing soap dispensers and missing shower curtains...the shower curtains there are the originals with mold and all dirty.

Sad, sad, sad they want $35 a month and it's quite dirty.

It is a decent gym with everything you need to lift weights. I just wish the smith machines went lower and there was more than one power rack. There is a pool and dry sauna. UPDATE: After leaving the gym over a year ago and coming back recently I see that they have not improved. I came back 4 weeks ago and the first thing I am told is there is no paper towel on the floor. There are so many kettlebells missing. There is only one foam roller. There are no barbell pads. They barely have any attachments and some are so worn it could create a safety hazard. I want my money back.
UPDATE: Nothing has changed. I contacted corporate and they don't care either.

Wow - I went into this place, was ready to buy a membership, looked around and seen how dirty it was in some areas, was ignored, so came out to my car to read some reviews & there are so many bad ones with pictures that prove the reviews honest & true. Thank you so much because I was going to go sign up here & I’m going to read reviews first from now on. And what I also noticed was there is no response on here to any of the negative reviews, which tells me management could care less, so thats all the confirmation I need right there that this is definitely not the place for me & hopefully potential members read the reviews first, so that they too can find a better, clean gym with staff that doesn’t ignore you the second you walk in. It made me uncomfortable because I’m overweight & it took a lot for me to walk in there & I feel self conscious again; maybe they don’t think I’m serious or something about taking control to better my health. Ok, update: I said there are no responses that I seen from management - I take that back; I see responses to only good reviews. La fitness in Roseville,mi has another rim down and is taking their sweet time putting the rim back up. we pay our monthly membership fee. I have a guest pass on mine so I pay more. la fitness has maintenance just like every major company with equipment. I know it doesn’t take much to put a rim back up so why is la fitness not holding their end of the contract. I have been coming here on the regular since January…yesterday I had some chick steal my clothes off the bench when I went to put my hair up. I turned my back for one minute and she stole my stuff. If she’s stealing from me she’s stealing from everyone soo lock your stuff up and do not leave it unattended for even a minute. She stole my bra, skort and tank top. Of course the gym can’t do anything about it and I always lock my stuff up I just turned my back for one minute with the clothes on the bench and someone had the nerve to take my things. Update: been trying to cancel my membership and they make it near impossible. I have called multiple times and told I need to come in Monday-Friday. I have now gone in twice to cancel but there is only 1 person in the entire organization that can authorize a cancellation of your membership. I am told this person is out of town so I am out of luck. Unless you want to be locked into a rate different than every other member, have no flexibility with pausing membership, deal with amenities being down at least twice a week, unapproachable games of basketball, and enjoy gnats in the locker room, then this is your gym.

Only a member for the convenience of how close this gym is. Been a member for a month and the pool has been closed for a week, shower curtains routinely missing in the locker room, gnats/wet paper towels throughout the locker room. Everyone pays a different rate and so far I’m the highest I’ve heard at $40 a month. Plus they don’t open until 8 on weekends, which is super inconvenient. I’ve gotten there at 8:30 before with a line of people outside because nobody was there to open the gym. If this wasn’t so close to my house, I’d run to another gym.

I've come in several times in the morning and there are NO paper towels in the locker room. How is that possible that early in the morning? Is a pre-closing or pre-opening checklist not completed each day? Making sure locker rooms are fully stocked? Where is club management on this? This is a clean gym with a pool, hot tub and a sauna. This gym also has a basketball court and a juice bar. I've been going here for about 5 years now and it really hasn't changed at all. Some of the equipment is worn out from people using it from years and missing peaces. During covid thay locked all the lockers so no one could use them for whatever reason and tried to make people have a mask on in the swimming pool.

Have been a member of this gym for 8 years. Large location, with at least 2 of everything you need to get a full 14-day rotational workout. Unfortunately, its equipment is all original needs updating, Many are broken despite being reported multiple times. Good price for what you get, though.

Refused to let me enter the gym I pay for 20 minutes before close. I asked to see where it is stated I can be denied entry before close and they said I can wait til manager comes in.

They almost always shut the smoothie station down early before it’s scheduled to close. It’s great for the workers who get to leave earlier than scheduled but it sucks for customers who workout in the evening and would like a protein shake.

Rude front desk lady today (3/3/24). About 11am. Didn’t even pretend to help me just a flat out no when i asked a question. No emotion or anything just no. Not sure what was going on with her but might want to have someone friendly working the front i mean their job is to literally just sit there and be friendly. What else do they do? Pretty basic to hire someone that meets that criteria. Hope this helps

Use to be my favorite gym. Now the new manager literally is pushing me towards lifetime😭😭😭😭 Raven was the last good manager this place had and I mean La in a whole… she was in the locker rooms cleaning up while this male has females cleaning up the males locker room… #bringRavenback

Visited because LA Fitness Moross is under a very long construction. It seems like management is subpar. Visited LA Fitness 13 mile Gratiot and seems to operate more smoothly. Rate it 4.5, but Moross needs help!!!!!

The conditions at this particular LA Fitness location have continued to deteriorate over the past few years. I originally blamed the lack of cleanliness of the facility and horrible condition of the equipment on the effects of the pandemic and the impact on workforce availability. But this cannot continue to be the excuse. It is obvious that management (at least at this location) does not care about their clientele. For this reason I will be forced to explore other options for my fitness needs.

The bathroom is the most disgusting, filthy, and disturbing bathroom that I have EVER been too... Worst than an out house. They should be ashamed of themselves. I've been there 3 times and each time, the bathroom was worse. But! The workout equipment is up to date 🤷🏾

Feels very outdated. All of the equipment is old and feels worn out. I have a fitness pass through my health care provider so I have access to just about all the gym franchises in the area and to my surprise this LA location feels more tired and outdated than lower cost Planet Fitness and Crunch locations in the area. I just met up with a friend and worked out at the new LA at 16 and Van dyke in Sterling Heights and it is so much nicer! The cardio and machines are nice and new, the lighting feels so much better and over all it’s a much nicer experience. If you’re going to market LA as a premium gym and charge premium membership fees, than it is time to give this location a refresh.

My 1st time at LA Fitness.
I was impressed with the girl behind the desk. Danelle was friendly and cheerful and took the time to explain how to Sign in/Check-in and showed me where the women's room/locker room was.
I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom and facilities.

Honest to God the filth in this place is unbelievable! Someone is spraying bleach all over the ladies restroom and just leaving it dripping as you can see on the photos! So much sprayed on the Chrome on the toilet that it is corroding all of them. It reeked so strong of bleach that day it was burning my eyes!! When I was shutting the door bleach got on my coat and ruined it!
Also the outside in the parking lot has garbage everywhere and it seems like somebody left their garbage in the foyer fir days!
Another day I walked in and a lady was buying a membership talking about she was trying to buy one at another location but all of the staff was, she points to the other sales guy sleeping in a chair, and says like this guy! Why do we have sales people sleeping on the job with a coat pulled over their head is beyond me. Maybe that's what the cleaning crew is doing somewhere.
I'm wondering does someone actually owned this LA Fitness or is it just a rogue operation for employees to do as you please.

In closing I have a great idea for you LA Fitness management or owners, if you cannot hire people within your corporation to do the cleaning that needs to be done then it's time to outsource and hire a cleaning agency like Molly Maids or something 🤔

The major issue with this location is cleanliness. This gym is filthy. The parking lot is riddled with trash. No one wipes down the sweaty benches. Trash and empty bottles on the cardio machines. The tiles and grout in the pool and hot tub are filthy. And the locker room is the worst of all. Doors on lockers are broken, hanging off the hinges and some completely broken to pieces. There is trash all over the floor. And mold growing on the curtains, tiles and grout in the showers.

For the last several months there have been missing curtains in the showers and missing soap containers. Of the soap containers that are present half are broken and the ones that work are empty. Overall this gym is just gross. This gym is right down the road, so it’s a convenient location but at this point I’m much more comfortable driving 10-20 minutes out of the way to go to a clean gym.
