Around 9:40pm, Nov. 25, 2025, I found a man with long hair is adding chemical in the maintenance room of swimming pool without closing the door. After swimming, I feel dizzy, throat pain and chest pain when breathing. My wife told me she also feel a stange smell and feel uncomfortalbe. A gentleman at front desk told me I am not the first person who complains about this and he is going to transfer the message to the manager.
I felt the same issue in LA Fitness at 47777, Mound Rd two times in mid. Nov. I thought the signature LA Fitness at 26 mile rd should be better. But I am very disappointed to find it is the same. If LA Fitness keeps ignoring the heath of the members, we shall quit from LA Fitness.
The smell may be chlorine. When checking ChatGPT on the correct procedure of adding chemicals to swimming pool, it said the wait-time for the swimmers should be at least 30 min. after adding the chlorine. LA fitness does not follow the guideline.

I’m extremely disappointed with this LA Fitness location. The gym is consistently dirty every time I come in. The person responsible for cleaning spends most of their shift looking down at their phone on TikTok — literally mopping with one hand while staring at the screen. They used to move machines and clean underneath, but that no longer happens. With no management present, there’s clearly no accountability.

When you walk in, the front desk employee is usually doing homework or buried in her phone. There’s no greeting, no acknowledgment, and asking for a towel feels like you’re bothering them. It’s not a welcoming environment at all.

The cleanliness issues continue throughout the building.
The restrooms are regularly filthy — three toilets, often with poop on them, and urinals that don’t appear to be cleaned consistently. Locker rooms are dirty, old towels pile up in the showers, and the steam room has been broken since I joined with zero updates.

Even the basic cleaning supplies for members aren’t maintained. The wipe stations are constantly empty in the morning. If no one fills them, members can’t clean equipment, and everything stays dirty all day.

In the afternoons, the sales staff walks around in a tight group, completely disengaged. It’s not a great look — especially when so many things around the gym clearly need attention and customer service is already an issue. Seeing several employees standing together instead of helping members sends the wrong message.

Overall, this location feels neglected and poorly run from top to bottom. This is absolutely not the level of service or professionalism anyone should expect from LA Fitness. Very disappointing experience.

This has to be one of the best LA Fitness in the entire Michigan.
Very clean, no rusty equipment, no rude people, plenty of parking, friendly staff, nice clean sauna, and it has a steam room!
All other LA Fitness in Michigan with the exception of the Ann Arbor one are always filthy, rusty equipment, the saunas are all saturated with dirt and sweat, and are full of rude people.

Welcome to the Signature club! As you can see this is a very well maintained gym! (To be clear, that was sarcasm) I’ve been a member here since just after they opened. I was excited to finally have a gym nearby with all of the amenities I was looking for. Unfortunately, the management of this location is very poor. No sense of urgency with maintenance. The IR sauna has been closed since it last caught on fire approximately 3 years ago now. The steam room is great if you happen to be there the one week it is functional during a 6-month period. Read the reviews for yourself, I’m not the only one noticing the mismanagement here. There is no excuse for these amenities to be closed for such great lengths of time. Steam rooms and saunas are not new, super fancy high tech inventions. Did I still get charged an annual maintenance fee? Sure did!

I’ve been a member of this gym for 2 weeks , but recent experiences have left me extremely disappointed. Despite paying for a “signature club” membership, the facility has been consistently falling short in both maintenance and customer service.

First, the sauna and steam room have been out of order for as long as I can remember. This isn’t something that should be happening at a gym of this caliber, especially since these amenities are often advertised as part of the membership. On top of that, the cleanliness is subpar— the men’s bathroom frequently has urine on the floor, and paper towels are almost always missing. It’s incredibly frustrating when basic hygiene is neglected. Plus Hot tub water are very dirty
For a place that markets itself as a high-end facility, the lack of care for both the equipment and the members is concerning. I’ve given this gym a lot of chances, but after this series of frustrating experiences I don’t recommend it to anyone

I went twice to the front desk to ask for hand towels to be put in the women's bathroom. I got a "deer in headlights" look. They said no janitor was on site, so I said just give me a roll and I will set it on the counter-they just stared at me. I saw multiple women use the toilet and not wash their hands. I always carry sanitizer and hand wipes with me-glad I did especially today. I would think with the flu and all the terrible viruses, this would be a concern. The majority of people at the desk are constantly on their cell phones.

I wish I could leave 0 stars. By far the worst gym I’ve ever experienced. Horrible management, extremely over crowded, filthy all around, Sauna hasn’t worked in 2+ years, management is lazy, broken equipment, wore out equipment, urine all over the bathroom floor, never paper towel in dispensers, and garbage’s overflowing. I couldn’t keep going forever. For a “Signature Club” this is embarrassing. Ive read a lot of reviews and it doesn’t seem any staff or upper management cares to deal with any of these issues.

There is a personal training area in the middle of the club. While the gym is insanely overcrowded during the evening hours this area will get used by paying members. There is an extremely rude and cocky personal trainer that likes to think that he owns that area. Meanwhile he will bring his clients to the “public member” areas and use those machines, but we can’t use the open cables while you aren’t using them? He is a joke. This entire gym is a joke.

The person at the desk I just called to see if the steam room was fixed yet was very rude and told me well it is what it is. You can do what you got to do and laugh.

Been going to this gym on and off for 6 years. This is my 2nd review ever and I do not recommend this place at all. Especially as of recently everything is always broken and dirty. You pay for “a signature club” but sauna has been broken since the last I can remember. Steam room is also constantly broken. Men’s bathroom constantly has urine all over floor and never any paper towels. It took them a year to order new cable ropes to replace the single white crusted (now brown/black) one they did have. On the busiest gym day of the year myself and about 6 other people got rudely yelled at by the trainer for trying using the middle area equipment that he was not using meanwhile every other equipment cables had lines of people waiting for them. The same trainer always acts like it’s an inconvenience you’re working out in his general vicinity even at a busy gym time.

For $40 a month I have a guest pass and access to all gyms nationwide and thats cool but the main reason I purchased a membership was to have access to the sauna and steam room. The sauna has been down for 2 years now and they claim to be fixing it soon but they said that a long time ago. 3 months ago the steam room went down and it is still down. Who knows how long that will be down. The gym is in a convenient area and the equipment is good but the price tag isn't worth it if the sauna and steamroom are both down. The equipment is good stuff, but one thing all la fitness have in common is the broken saunas/ steam rooms. Once they go down, there is about a three month wait before they get them fixed. The saunas were the deciding factor in my choice of gym, and la fitness is by far the most expensive membership, with 100 dollars a year on top of nearly 30 dollars a month for membership dues, and we don’t get the full experience we paid for. I will be looking for another gym soon.

First day training here, git here at about 7:45am and it wasn't open yet, I didn't know they opened at 8am on weekends. I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience at this gym. Six individuals were harassed at this location when we brought it to the management’s attention to file formal complaint, we were brushed off and told to just leave a phone number ‘in case they needed it.’ It felt like our concerns were not being taken seriously, and the indifference was evident. What’s even more troubling is that we were discriminated against because of our ethnicity, as other members seemed to be treated with much more respect and attentiveness. It’s disheartening to encounter this kind of behavior in a place where we should feel welcomed and safe. I expected more professionalism and inclusivity, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for a supportive and respectful environment.

I am writing to formally address a concerning incident that occurred in the locker room on with me and my family. My family and I were subjected to inappropriate and discriminatory behavior by an older female gym member, who harassed us for covering ourselves up. Her actions were not only offensive but also created an uncomfortable and hostile environment for us.

Following the incident, we approached management the next day to file a formal complaint and request appropriate action. Unfortunately, we were informed that we would not be allowed to file a complaint and no action would be taken regarding the matter because they are ‘building a case against her’ yet they would not let us file a complaint against her for the case. This response is deeply troubling and unacceptable, as we believe that all gym goers should be treated with respect and that any form of harassment should be addressed promptly.

We respectfully wanted this matter be investigated and that appropriate measures should have been taken against her but nothing ended up happening and we had to stop going there.

Called in to sign up over the phone spoke to a manger (Mike who didn't bother to explain anything about the membership benefits ) or any rules and 2 days later was dissatisfied and wanted to cancel he said he canceled it but he didn't cancel it and kept it so the 7 days satisfaction period pass and so I lose my refund, horrible service I would not recommend that location only because that manager who doesn't know how to treat customers right instead he'd rather them cancel. They allow the cleaning personal to dictate when the fans can be on and he cleans in the morning, so half the cardio will be unplugged or he is under your feet!! I’ve been a member for 2+ years and spend 4-5 days/ week there. The staff is great! very friendly. I’m always greeted with an “enjoy your workout” and a towel. The locker room and showers are always clean. I don’t use the hot tub or steam room but they’re available. It’s never over crowded, even during the busy times of day and year. I’ve never had to wait for a machine and it’s very rare to see an “out of order” machine. One thing I’ve noticed is alot of consistent return members which creates a good workout environment.

My favorite local gym is this Signature Club. It’s part of the L.A. Fitness line of gyms in the area.
I used to be a member at the Lifetime gym across town, but the amenities at both gyms are comparable.
While Lifetime has additional features like salons, tennis and basketball courts, and a climbing wall, I never used those. The high membership fee at Lifetime was hard to justify for me.
This L.A. Fitness Signature Club has everything I need, and the staff is friendly. The facilities and the machines are well maintained, but I hope they fix the dry sauna, which has been out of commission for a long time.

THEY AREN'T GOING TO FIX THE SAUNA. When I first came here I was under the impression that they had a sauna, along with the pool and towel services I was excited to try it out. Apparently the sauna had been down for months and they had a sign on the door saying it was to be swapped out from an infrared sauna to a dry sauna. Come to find out almost a year later after a call to LA Fitness in Cali, they don't have and never had a plan to swap the sauna, fix the sauna, or do anything with it. At this point I only go to this gym because it’s the closest gym to my house. It’s a “signature club” but half the amenities are consistently broken. They cancelled HIIT classes, closed their kids club, and cut their hours on weekends. The gym itself is often dirty and they stopped consistently having sanitizing wipes out. This was a different story last year, but it feels like we’re paying the same amount for much less than we used to get.

Don’t be fooled this is far from a signature club. The normal LA Fitness gyms are way nicer and updated. This facility doesn’t have a basketball court, no juice bar, or a turf for free weight exercises (which are included in many other non-signature clubs). Not to mention a sauna that hasn’t been operational for months due to a pending a lawsuit, with no resolution in sight. The excuse tends to be “oh, it’s just not working”. So what makes this a signature club you may ask? I guess, free towels and locker rooms that are barley maintain. Very disappointed that I have to travel to a non-signature to get a better workout experience.

You pay for a signature club, yet there has been no sauna for months. No idea as to when it will be fixed. No grassy area. Steam room works 50% of the time. Average gym with minimal equipment. Needs popular machines added. Out of the last 6 months there’s been maybe 4 days where there is actually cleaning wipes available for equipment. Big ol Booger on locker room door since I signed up months ago , you can see the grime, hair, band aid buildup on the locker room floors. If I didn’t get a discount through work I would not be here. This review is in hopes that this LA will finally fix things or let people know what’s going on

Beware of Misleading Promises at LA Fitness - Unethical Practices Alert!
I feel compelled to share my experience with LA Fitness to alert others about a concerning practice I encountered. While the facilities and equipment are commendable, the same cannot be said for the company's ethical conduct.

I initially accepted a free plan with the condition to cancel within 7 days. Unfortunately, when I attempted to cancel my training, I faced a series of challenges. Despite promises made during the sign-up process, LA Fitness failed to honor their commitment to cancel my training as agreed upon.

This discrepancy has left me out of pocket with a significant financial burden. It's disheartening to see a company resort to such tactics, especially after promising transparency and fairness.

I urge potential members to be cautious when considering any free plans or time-limited offers. Make sure to carefully scrutinize the terms and conditions before committing, as my experience highlights the potential risks involved.

While LA Fitness offers a range of amenities, the lack of accountability and adherence to their own promises has left a sour taste in my mouth. It's my hope that by sharing this experience, others can make informed decisions about their memberships and avoid falling victim to similar situations.

FREE TRIAL SCAM

Tried this place out as I had a friend who lifted here regularly. They offered me a 7 day free trial and I could cancel anytime as long as I called.

They never provided me with a copy of my agreement and refused to do so unless I came back to the club. As such, I told them I wanted to cancel (this was still within the free trial timeframe and over the phone).

After I said the magic words, they "couldnt cancel me until someone higher up" called. - They never called me back.

I went into the club in person and they still refused to cancel- just stating they would "let someone know".

Finally I got an email regarding how to mail in my cancellation. They have taken hundreds of dollars out of my account at this point and I had been to the club once and they refuse to contact me.

This is the worst gym I’ve ever been inside of. This place realizes there’s not much other options so they scalp prices and don’t fix anything. The management doesn’t train anyone so the young people have no idea what they’re doing despite pure intentions. None of my complaints are toward the workers because they are simply improperly trained and fail to deliver do too ignorance and horrible leadership. Equipment is constantly down or missing. Steam room broken. Sauna broken. No rules enforced. Nothing.

This being a signature club is just embarrassing. Poor management, (rarely anyone at the front desk during the later hours) and overall just dirty and smelly. I was excited to try this club after my husband and I are looking to switch to a different gym, especially with the amenities they have (sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc...) I really wanted to like this gym but as others have reviewed, it is very unclean - in comparison to other chain and mom&pop local gym's I've previously been apart of.

I'm not a clean freak but it is very underwhelming to see - no one wipes down equipment or stretching mats after use, some machines appear to be lacking routine maintenance, and besides the trash being taken out in the locker room...It's quite dirty. The spa area does not appear as if it's routinely maintained and cleaned (spa, hot tub, steam room) floors are dirty and grimey (not sure how often they mop), and the steam room is currently is out of order. There was a regular in the locker room who mentioned the steam room is regularly out of order when she saw the note on it. Husband has similar experience in the men's locker room/spa area. Not what you'd expect for signature club experience. Took my business elsewhere.

This location is home of “Scheduled For Service “. Something is always broken. Steam room and Sauna have been shut down all summer. Forget about using the pool because, they have swimming lessons scheduled all the time. This location is filthy as well. For a comparison, the Roseville location is way cleaner, friendlier staff, and a juice bar with various pre/post workout drinks. I’m paying for a family plan right now and there’s just no value in it. I might as well go to Planet Fitness, for half the price because this location has none of the added amenities available. I’ve complained to the staff on several occasions and it’s very apparent that they just don’t care. I’ll be canceling my family membership very soon.

Great place to work out at a very reasonable monthly membership fee. The men’s locker room could be a little bit cleaner and more organized but it’s not too bad. This place has a hard time keeping their equipment in working order. Something is always broke and it takes a very long time to get fixed.

Simple things like filling the soap dispensers or sanitizing stations never get done and it’s almost impossible to get someone to address these issues.

I chose LA over Plantet Fitness for the sole reason that they have a sauna and steamroom. I've been a member a bit over a month, and both amenities have been closed for over a week. After inquiring with other members, I have learned that this is a common occurrence. I'm going to be asking for a partial reimbursement monthly until this is fixed. My main focus on getting a membership to this location is the pool/spa. Due to a slight disability, swimming is my main source of activity. I’ve seen complaints about the lack of cleanliness. Signature club I think not. I was told when I signed up that they replace the equipment every year. Definitely do not and a few need minor repairs . All cushions on the pull up machines have tears on them and the free weight pull down machine has missing rubber bumpers. The cleaning is horrible most of the time you will find hair balls under the equipment and in between the cardio machines and bikes. 2 stars are for that you pay for what you get..

I got a tick/tick bite from this place after using the sauna. Place is not clean. At all. This is a picture of the bite after I put hydrogen peroxide on it once I got home.

I should’ve kept the bug in a bag and brought it to the front desk but we filed a complaint over the phone because there wasn’t a manager in this Sunday.

As a new member, I was shopping around to find the best gym prior to signing up. I was lucky enough to stop in at this location and meet with Rob, the general manager. He was very thorough, patient, informative, and efficient. He walked me through all my options as well as thoroughly went over the pay to try and help me get the best out of my experience at an affordable price. These two individuals helped me communicate with corporate LA Fitness about a contract I signed, in the most helpful and thoughtful way! I’m active duty Air Force, and with the military moving me, Robert and Julie tried to help me save hundreds of dollars by going the extra mile to reach out to their authorities to explain my sudden situation. To be completely honest is one of the worse clubs in the area. This club is not well managed. Locker rooms are filthy, equipment including hot tub, and steam room will often be down for weeks or months without an explanation. Management onsite is clueless, no results even after calls and e-mails. Spend your time somewhere else. Not worth catching a virus because of how unsanitary this place is.

Been member from few months. Men's bathroom is dirty. Spoke to front office desk multiple times and every time was getting standard reply that tomorrow morning somebody is coming to clean it. When I signed up for training, Nick said it was 8 sessions. Once I signed up, they says only 4 sessions per month. He told month on month training. Now, he says it is one year agreement.
