This is one of the cleanest best managed gyms I've been too which is saying a lot for Metro Detroit. Tom does a great job there keeping things clean. The showers can leave a little to be desired at times. Machines are always accessible and few are rarely ever down. A pretty conservative minded crowd, fyi, but I just try to keep myself. My only problem with this one and the one on the Hill right now is they both are having air condition problems and have shut down their hot tubs because of it for months now. The hot tub is a major selling point for me and I can't use any. Also guys go into the saunas with their workout gear or stinky underware on and/or drape clothes over the shed and it gets stinky. There should be a dress code of swim wear or towels only in the sauna, not sweaty workout gear or your dirty underware that smell up the joint. Yuck guys! Come on!

I absolutely love this gym, I have two sons in the kids corner child care and they are amazing with my boys!!! Check in staff is always awesome and welcoming and Rachel over at the juice bar is so informative and helpful plus she always whips up the best protein smoothies for me !!!

I've been a member here since 2017. Samantha up front has always been great. The youg man in the morning is great as well. My only complaint is that it is next to impossible to change your membership to another la fitness. I changed jobs and the woodhaven location is no longer convenient for traveling (its 20 mins out of my way). I don't want to pay a $120 fee and add on another $15 monthly fee to use a different location. It would be nice to be able to change your primary club without a bunch of steps and extra $. Recently all of the paper towel dispensers were taken out and replaced with electric dryers. Everyone is just using toilet paper to dry off after the sauna instead of the non existent paper towels. I know you are trying to save $ or be more environmentally friendly but you should give us paper towels back.

She cancelled my membership and said it was her mistake and then tells me I still have to pay first and last month plus any other billing charges… the most unprofessional and just so rude over the phone and in person she shouldn’t be working here if she doesn’t know how to resolve problems with people! Machines are always down and take forever to get fixed, pool is currently closed, hot tub is dirty, lots of the machines are old and torn, carpet is nasty and it's always so hot in there. They also quit offering two of the classes I was attending. I belong to another gym and was keeping this one for the pool, sauna and classes but now it doesn't seem to be worth the money.

I had a wonderful experience at LA Fitness Woodhaven today! I want to give a huge shoutout to the General Manager, Ed Fitzpatrick, who was super kind, extremely clear, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. He made me feel welcome and excited to get started at this gym.

The entire staff was fantastic—from the front desk team to the Kids Club and the smoothie bar. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional.

The facility itself is amazing, with a wide variety of classes, racquetball and basketball courts, a swimming pool, Kids Club, and my personal favorite—the sauna! There’s truly something for everyone here.

Can’t wait to become a regular! 💪🔥 Big thanks again to Ed and the awesome team at LA Fitness Woodhaven!

I’ve left and came back to this gym quite a few times since they’ve opened. The gym is subpar compared to other LA Fitness’s. The seats on the fly machines have been broke/loose for years. The cleaning wipes are always out. I’m pretty sure there haven’t been any updates or improvements since it opened. Other gyms are implementing Cryo and Recovery while this one stays the same.

The gym in general has nice amenities and that was the selling point for me. Unfortunately the gym is totally gross, so gross I didn’t even want to store my backpack in the lockers. Every machine is dirty and looks like it hasn’t been wiped down in years, same with the locker room. Most machines are dated and/or rusting. I was a member for about 3 months and from what I can tell not a single employee over the age of 25 which probably explains the cleaning situation. Would not recommend to anyone.

When I moved to Detroit in 2018 after spending a year downriver, I searched extensively for a nearby LA Fitness. Unable to find one that met my standards, I committed to driving 20 minutes daily from Downtown to this Woodhaven location. This gym stands out as the cleanest LA Fitness in Metro Detroit, with the best layout and equipment. The friendly manager with blonde hair on top and dark underneath is super nice and absolutely deserves a raise.

Kids club is always closed! Even when you call 15 minutes prior, and they tell you it is open. Also, don’t join for the pool. It’s constantly closed for maintenance and dirty. The machines are older, and generally filthy or also “closed for service”. It doesn’t make sense for how expensive membership is. Also, kids club from 8am-noon on weekdays for working parents is not a benefit. However even if you could make those hours, never fear, it’s closed anyhow. There was nobody at the front desk to answer phones or check in. Ended up just cancelling the membership.

The staff can't do anything without a manager present and the manager is never on the clock. They tell you to come back and talk to the manager so you hopefully give up and continue your membership. The kids club is never open even though it is something included in your membership. The machines are absolutely filthy and appears to never be cleaned. It's a bit cleaner than other clubs in the metro area.
The men's lockers, showers, and sauna are very filthy in general. They don't scrub them at all and smell real bad.
Most of the equipment is rusty and missing pins.
The pool is a bit Chilly.
At least the amenities aren't offline as often as other locations though.
Staff is somehow nice.
The yoga classes are good.
Some people use the swimming pool to walk and chat while blocking others from working out. It should have a message board stating it is not a physical rehabilitation pool.

I use to love LA Fitness. I had to cancel my membership due to my son had stage 4 lymphoma. I couldn’t even afford at the time the pause fee. So I cancelled they gave the sales pitch of your gonna so on so forth. Didn’t take it at face value we was about to lose everything I had to do this. So back to my story this is of course woodhaven. Use to go to Plymouth but now is a esporosa or whatever it is. Or I’d go back there they are amazing. So thank goodness my son is in remission. So I go I tell them I want the same plan with the 2 guest pass. Soinstead of saying it’s a 1 person guest pass now. I’m mislead into believing that this is the case. Well now I find out I can only bring one guest. Had I know this transaction would’ve never took place. I can buy me and my husband all a $20 membership at planet fitness for the price I’m paying. So 6 people could go. Or even crunch fitness. This is ridiculous.

The gym or is absolute garbage. It looks really nice and has a lot of amenities. But during my three day trial, I was not able to find a locker that wasn’t gross.And the water fountain isn’t even cold. They want 50 bucks a month… just go to planet fitness every time for everyone

I was a former member of LA fitness for over 2.5 - 3 years. I ended up going to my former location which is Woodhaven. My buddy who still goes there gave me a 1 week pass. I only needed one day use since I was out of town.

I am well aware of how the guest pass is used and have gave plenty to other friends and even got them signed up for memberships. Mind you, I have no intention of getting a membership since where I live does not have any LA fitnesses nearby. I used my barcode and they stopped me. I knew it was to talk to a GM and discuss possible plans. I told them I was a former member and I was only interested in a one day use. They told me I had to do it regardless and it would be quick. Totally understandable in what they are trying to do.

I sit down with one of the managers that I actually really enjoy and respect. However she tells me that her boss said I have to pay $20 for a day pass. I am stunned and shocked because I have signed up so many of my friends and never once they had to go through this. (To also mention that these guest passes that are given can either be from a current member or found on LA fitness website and they are suppose to honor them.) EVEN AS A FORMER MEMBER SHE EVEN MENTIONED HOW LOYAL I WAS WHEN I DID HAVE A MEMBERSHIP. This manager that I spoke to knows very well I did not want to end my membership when I had to move away. She also mentioned to me that she didn’t want to make me pay any kind of fee and I told her I understood. But I felt like this was not the way to treat anyone who either was a former member or even a new incoming person trying out the facility. $20 is a lot of money for a DAY USE. This whole thing made me rethink if I’ll ever consider LA again.

I totally understand that the manager I spoke to is not at fault, though I feel that things could have been different over a simple day pass. Whoever her boss is, please rethink of doing this process. It does not seem very welcoming or inviting to former or new members.

Overall, a great gym. I've been a member since before it was even built. The equipment is plentiful, and well maintained. As long as you don't go during gym "rush hour" you shouldn't have a problem accessing whatever you need. My only (minor) complaints are that some of the staff seem extremely disengaged, and some of the utilities in the locker room could be maintained a bit better. That being said, I love the gym and have no plans to leave. It's got everything you could want from a gym. If I could give 4.5 stars I would.

The only reason this la fitness gets more than one star is the receptionist. It's dirty, the equipment is old/ worn/ not working, and the locker room/ sauna smell terrible. Equipment 10+ years old and needs to be updated. Half the stairmasters are broken. More than half the free weights are missing and they don't replace them. If any machine breaks down they will stay that way for 6+ months. Most machines aren't secured to the ground and have been slowly moving around with no effort to fix. No one puts their weights away and most the workers have bad attitudes. Tom and Sam are the only good thing about this gym.

Unprofessional & rude establishment. My wife and child left crying the other day because of the rude & incompetent staff working in the child care center. My wife was working out for under an hour while our 7 month old was under the supervision of the staff. When my wife returned to get our daughter, she was screaming & crying on the floor in a corner by herself covered in tears & snot. The staff had nothing to say besides “we tried”. You could say that my wife was pretty upset seeing that this is our first child & she is being mistreated by the staff that are supposed to care for your children. This LA is always super crowded in the afternoons, never consistently had all the stair masters working. There was even a time when none of them were even working for 2-3 weeks.
Sauna smells really bad. Used it once, never went in again.
I’d say that the only plus side is that there is a lot of gym equipment you can use. When it’s crowded though, it really is pointless.

I have been a paying member since 2014. Today, I was resting on a bench and someone came up to me with a notebook of names and numbers and told me twice to open my phone and give her a contact for a free month. Fabulous gym. Clean. Personable staff. But the music is way too loud. Most of your clients have headphones to listen to their own music. No one can hear anything over the music blasting. Just have staff near the treadmills and the floor weights. Even with noise cancelling headphones the music blasts through. Please adjust the volume!

I think I spoke to a guy named mike and young black male with glasses. I do not enjoy my experience I just go there to work out and go home. The gym is over-priced, they fail to explain the costs well to get you to get a membership, not a hospitable environment, and they fail to explain when the recurring payments happen to persuade you to join the gym. At least be honest and have clear communication. This is not what they have at this location just good equipment very poor customer service.

I was a gym member when it first opened for a few years and loved it. I recently moved back to the area and rejoined. I wish they would turn up the A/C, especially on the really hot days. Sometimes it's so humid in there, it's hard to breathe and I'm sweating out of pores I didn't know I had! Gym itself is nice but beware the sales staff here. Asked for our Car keys so we couldn’t leave without signing up when I was a guest. Avoid Lauren, she will do anything for a sale on their fitness trainers.

Lauren is one of the best employees at the gym! She helped me pick out a plan tailored to me! If you ever think about going, see her! 10/10 service I’m going to tell all my friends and family about what she did for me!!!
