Great place for playtime, learning and socializing. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. They offer kids playtime, kids night out and lessons. Safe environment, lots of things to climb and jump on. Soft floors for flipping. Coach Taylor and Jayla are so awesome.

My daughter absolutely loves her gymnastics class at MAG! She has been taking classes with Coach Jayla since before she turned two and she's almost five now! Coach Jayla has such a great approach and technique that my high-energy daughter needs and responds very well to. We are both very grateful that Coach Jayla believes in her students and continues to encourage and push them to succeed! The facility is gorgeous and all the other staff is incredible as well. It's been such an awesome decision to involve my daughter in this group and we plan to continue as long as possible!

From the facility to the staff, they are incredible! Open area to watch and equipment that helps them grow as gymnasts. Our girls have been with the gym for 3 years now and have grown so much! Coaches Taylor and Jayla are A1. Love our MAG family! This will definitely be our forever gym πŸ’œ

Came to an open gym session w my kids and their cousins but my overall experience was horrible. We felt unwelcomed the staff kept making back handed comments and were so upset the kids were moving some of the things around when they’re just having fun. They kept following them n pickup up or fixing stuff even though the kids were still playing. Overall I don’t think I’ll be coming back here.

Highly recommend! This Gym is phenomenal. The instructors, classes, and environment are amazing and really support and teach the young children coming in both the gymnastics skills but also skills like active listening/following directions, confidence, as well as patience that are all skills that translate to other avenues of life.

I have been taking my daughter to Michigan Academy of Gymnastics since she was 19 months old--she is now 3 1/2--so its been a little over 2 years that I have personally worked with and observed multiple classes and different instructors at MAG. So when I tell you that the classes offered and the instructors in this gym are super fun and engaging, I am not exaggerating. Ever since I started taking my daughter in Jan 2022, I have always felt that the classes were well tailored to her skill and ability level, even with multiple kids at different ages and abilities present in the class.

One of the reasons I started coming to MAG was because they offered classes for very young children (18 months+) and it gave my toddler an activity outlet. It has been my experience that even when working with small children, the coaches provide classes that are engaging and fun while also teaching skills such as following directions and patience (this one is tough because ya know toddlers). Furthermore, the classes are structured in such a way as to promote gymnastic skills building and following directions in addition to building confidence and independence. My daughter in particular struggles with confidence in the skills (for example being up and walking across the high bar or climbing the rope scare her) but through the support and one-on-one work that her coach (Coach Jayla) has been able to provide her in the classes she has learned so much, gained confidence in her own abilities, and subsequently loves coming to class each week which is the reason that I keep coming back. We plan to continue coming back because the gym offers such variety and the classes allow her to grow her abilities over time.

Seriously, this is a great gym and any kid would be welcome. Again: Highly recommend.

If you're going to be an establishment that promotes working with young children, then hire staff that knows how to deal with and handle children. ESPECIALLY when it's the child's first day. The energy the instructor displays is dry, negative and unwelcoming and children that young feed off the energy of the adults. To deny a child that asked for a sip of water is absurd. This is supposed to be a joyous experience for a child but you managed to make it traumatic. Fix your practices, train your staff, hire the right staff or shut down your doors. Any parents thinking about enrolling your CHILD think twice.

I really wanted to love this place, but our first experience at Michigan Academy of Gymnastics in Garden City was disappointing. From the moment we walked in, coach Jayla seemed like she was in a bad mood. She barely acknowledged my 5 year old daughter, didn’t introduce herself, and gave no explanation of what to expect.

My daughter was excited and jumped right into warm-ups, but since it was her first time, she didn’t know the routine and asked for some water. The coach immediately said no. That upset my daughter, and when she ran to me in tears, none of the coaches made any effort to encourage her or make her feel comfortable. It felt like they just didn’t care.

I tried to calm her down and encourage her to go back in, but at that point, she was completely discouraged. I eventually waved down an assistant coach and explained that this was her first day and she just needed a little guidance. The assistant coach tried to relay this to the head coach, and I actually saw the coach roll her eyes. It was obvious she didn’t want to be there, and her attitude was beyond rude.

Hoping to get some support, I went to the front desk, but instead of helping, they suggested my daughter might do better if I left her there alone. That was not happening after the way we were treated. Eventually, the head coach came over to ask what was wrong, but her energy still felt off, and it was clear she was just trying to move things along rather than actually help.

I explained this was not my daughter's first activity and she's very self motivated, however her negative approach set my daughter off. I explained that coaches can train to discipline with kindness.

After we left, my husband left a negative review, and instead of reaching out to make things right, the head coach called me to justify everything and casually ask if I had filled out the withdrawal formβ€”like they were happy to see us go instead of trying to encourage my daughter to come back.

Overall, this place was unwelcoming, and the staff didn’t seem to care about making new students feel comfortable. A child’s first experience in a new sport should be positive and encouraging, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here.

This is a great safe space for all kids
I love that there are older kids as well as toddler size, some gyms only have 10 and under in high can be discouraging for older kids. My fav thing about the Westland location I love each coach my child has had, the coaches know each kid very helpful with info and professional sometimes my child may not feel like going hunting we get there, I notice she miss her coaches and ready to get into the grove. I like being able to make changes or … on the online app as well comes in handy not getting lost in my emails …

I registered for the toddler class but recently withdrew. Not the most organized program. The space is nice and has potential. The class was set for 915am on Saturdays and the doors would always open just minutes before the start time. On one occasion no one showed up to unlock the doors so the parents just went home. There wasn’t a follow up email or any conversation around why no one showed up to class. A second situation where half the facilities power was out, but since no one arrives early we were notified class was cancelled while all the parents were inside waiting for the class to begin. Again, no communication around next steps. There was a coach cleaning during our session almost every single time. Lysol and one time vacuuming in the middle of a session in front of the parents as we tried to watch the class. Very low energy as well.

Some feedback: the children sit for way too long waiting for their turn. The class is only 45 minutes and in one of the rotations they sat for over 15 minutes waiting to be called. I think the class can be organized to be a little more efficient for kids this age.

** I will add that the owner refunded our tuition for the missed days and upcoming month we paid for.

My daughter was taken out of the system to where we could not even make a payment for her to join her weekly class randomly and I feel like she was discriminated against as the only African American child in the class. 3/30/21 she’s sad and it’s nothing I can do because the instructor in charge was very nonchalant and unhelpful. I have moved my daughter to a more advanced and professional gymnastics school.

This is my 6 year old daughter's second year at MAG Dearborn Heights! It's amazing to see the amount of growth and confidence that she has now. She loves her coach and her fellow gymnists! This location is definitely a great choice for parents looking to expose their young children to gymnastics. The team of coaches are patient with each student. They understand that all children perform on different levelsand at their own pace. My daughter is extremely happy and so am I!😊
