Joining MECA was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I came in wanting to get healthier, but I ended up completely changing how I eat, train, and take care of myself. The nutrition coaching, accountability and weight lifting were game-changers. I’ve lost over 20 pounds of fat, built noticeable muscle, and feel stronger than I have in years.

The weight training here is incredible, the coaches make sure you’re lifting with intention and proper form. The whole staff is fantastic and it feels like a family atmosphere. Big shoutout to my trainer Scott.

MECA Royal Oak is amazing. Great environment, positive vibe, and the best trainers. Isaiah has been helping my daughter come back from an illness that took her away from her sport for 9 weeks. I worked with HC Cody and AS Thomas, both were very knowledgeable and thorough in my training, They created a very trusting environment by not only practicing what they preach but building a trusting and friendly relationship with me as well. I felt like I had a gym buddy even though they push you very very hard even past your limits. I ask a lot of questions and they take their time to answer and help me understand the purpose of everything we do which is valuable to me. Cody was able to tailor a plan specific to my meeds for the sport zi play, the plan was heavily based on my weakness’s and ways to improve those which is what I needed most. Getting trained by MECA was a wonderful experience and I plan on coming back pretty soon.

I have been working out at MECA Royal Oak since March 2025. I cannot recommend this facility or my trainer, Cody, highly enough! I am 59 years old and wanted to incorporate strength training into my fitness regimen. Being a newbie to the gym, I was intimidated at first, but everyone there is so friendly and welcoming, I quickly felt right at home. Cody is an amazing trainer. He is very knowledgeable and knows just how hard to push me in order to see results. I will continue to be a member aid this gym for years to come. I have been working out at MECA for the past 7 months. Before signing up I spoke with their owner who was very friendly and explained their process and why it works. At my initial evaluation they really dug in to see what my goals were, areas of strength and areas of weakness, then came up with a personalized plan to maximize my results.

From day 1 all of the trainers made it a point to know my name and cheer me on during my sessions. My trainer, Taytum, has been amazing! She kicks my @$$ at every workout, continuously cheers on my victories, and encourages me to keep trying during my failures. Taytum always checks in during each session to see how my nutrition, sleep, and overall health has been. She's always trying to find new ways to help me improve and genuinely listens/cares. Every month or so I get to check in with their nutritionist, Bryan, who helps give meal ideas, supplements (if needed), and stretching/at home exercise ideas.

Overall I'm very pleased with the MECA program. Every 4 weeks my program changes so I never get bored. An added bonus is that they give you a protein shake immediately following your workout.

This is a place for anyone looking to be their best self no matter if they are an elite athlete already or just trying to get back in shape. Highly recommend.

The Best Decision for My Health – MECA Changed My Life!

I wasted years working out in the gym, hurting my knees and back, not knowing exactly what to eat or how to eat. I watched tons of YouTube videos and even hired a personal trainer at my local gym, but I never got the results I wanted. My cholesterol levels were elevated, and my blood sugar was in the pre-diabetic range. My doctor even suggested starting medication to lower my cholesterol.

Despite walking 4-5 km every day and doing everything I thought was right, my health was declining in my mid-30s. I felt frustrated, exhausted, and disappointed in myself. That’s when I decided to join MECA for personalized 1:1 training and nutrition guidance.

At first, I was skeptical-I had already spent so much time and money on fitness programs, personal trainers, and diet plans that didn’t work. But I decided to take a leap of faith, and I’m so glad I did. Within just a few weeks, I saw real progress that I had never experienced before.

After just four months of training at MECA, I can confidently say this is the best place in town if you want real results in months instead of years. I reduced my body fat from 25% to 17% and gained 4 pounds of muscle within the first 8 weeks. That was an incredible achievement for me!

A huge thank you to my personal trainer Mike (Michael) and my nutritionist Bryan. They worked together to create a customized training and diet plan tailored to my body, my goals, and my health conditions.

Unlike the one-size-fits-all plans I had tried before, MECA’s approach was entirely personalized. If I hit a plateau or struggled with something, Mike and Bryan adjusted my plan to keep me progressing.

I was always cautious about supplements, but Bryan understood my health concerns and guided me with the best nutrition and supplement recommendations. All I had to do was show up and follow their plan -no more second-guessing my workouts or diet.

MECA’s training approach is incredibly efficient and effective. I used to spend 1.5 hours, 5 days a week at the gym with little progress. With Mike, I spent 50% less time but saw better results in muscle gain, fat loss, and overall health.

Mike was simply exceptional. He was 100% focused on my form and movements during every second of my training. He wasn’t distracted, wasn’t looking at his phone-he was truly present, pushing me beyond my limits safely.

Some of the exercises were so simple yet incredibly effective. I was shocked at how much I could accomplish in just an hour with the right approach.

More than just looking better, my overall health transformed. My knee and back pain gradually disappeared, I started sleeping better and feeling stronger than ever, my cholesterol and blood sugar returned to optimal levels.

When I did my blood work after four months, I was amazed. My cholesterol and blood sugar levels were right in the center of the normal range-without medication.

Working out with Mike and Isiah at MECA has absolutely changed my body composition and my view on weightlifting. As a woman who is post menopause I was frustrated with the inability to lose weight - even while exercising and being on a calorie deficit. As someone who always relied on heavy cardio, the switch to lifting heavier weights wasn’t something I believed would help. But I was wrong! While the number on the scale has dropped only a few pounds, I am adding muscle mass and losing fat. My clothes are fitting better and my confidence is way up! I have been coming to MECA for about 6 weeks now. It has been a wonderful experience. My trainer, Isaiah, has been exceptional. He has listened and heard what my goals are (I'm 68 y/o , taking care of a wheelchair bound son) and tailored a program that already has made a difference in my ability to help my son transfer.

After a leg injury and completing physical therapy, my mobility was not nowhere near what it used to be. I struggled with basic things like standing up and walking for more than 20 mins. But working with Evan on my rehabilitation has helped so much, he was able to help me get my life back. I can’t say enough good things about MECA- very well run small business that has a clear culture, every employee is on the same page to provide a premium experience. At my consultation I knew I was in good hands and I trusted they understood my goals. I have always been a runner and have done just about every group fitness class there is- I never thought I would enjoy strength training or 1:1 personal training as much as I do. Knowing nothing about strength training was intimidating and going into my first session I was lost- I work with Mike and he is great, very informative, demonstrates and explains each exercise. He’s very patient with me, when I have no clue what he is talking about, he explains things in different ways until I get it. He pushes me when he knows I can do more and helps when he knows I’m hitting my limit to make sure I keep good form. Couldn't be happier with the experience I had a MECA. I trained over a three month period and saw significant results. I came to a MECA a year and a half after suffering a serious shoulder injury. I dislocated & fractured my left shoulder, as well as suffered nerve damage to my ulnar and axillary nerve which resulted in serious atrophy of all of the muscles around my left shoulder. While I had regained all function of my left shoulder when I came to MECA, my left shoulder was seriously lacking strength and muscle. I was bothered by both the strength and appearance of my shoulder. Further, in the time period before coming to MECA I had developed overuse injuries in my other shoulder from compensating. I came to MECA hoping to get my life back and that is exactly what happened. My trainer Chris Greyson was amazing. He pushed me everyday while listening and modifying if there was anything that felt uncomfortable. I have my confidence back in my shoulder and feel immeasurably better than when I walked in. The entire staff is friendly and wants to see you succeed. They tailored a program specific to my goals, while still leaving room to modify where needed. So I’ve been on a gym-hopping spree around Royal Oak, and let me tell you, Michigan Elite Conditioning for Athletes (MECA) is a game changer. They’ve got all the cool toys you didn’t know you needed—trap bars in every shape, dumbbells that rotate and come in different grips, you name it!

Walking in, you can tell it’s a pro’s playground. It’s super clean and just radiates a vibe that says "get ready to work." I signed up for a 3-month personal training program, and just four weeks in, during Ramadan no less, I lost 6 lbs and gained muscle! First time I’ve ever bulked up while fasting, and I'm pumped about the results.

Shoutout to my trainer, Taytum—she’s the real MVP. Always buzzing with energy and on top of her game, Taytum makes every session count. She is very knowledgeable and on the rare occasion i ask a tough question, she’ll hunt down the answer faster than you can drop and give her twenty! She’s not just a trainer; she’s like a personal cheerleader who makes sure I push my limits.

And it’s not all about sweating it out; the nutrition side is top-notch too. They've got dieticians on hand, and they’re all about tailoring everything to what you need. They keep track of my progress with a precision that's kind of amazing—every rep, every set, how long my muscles are under tension.

Just a heads-up, this place is really focused on personalized training, they do not provide group training or the ability just use their facility on your own. Not the cheapest option out there, but hey, you’re investing in a world-class setup with trainers who know their stuff.

I’ve been working out at MECA Royal Oak for roughly 4 months now. I joined with the need to mostly lose weight and also work on gaining muscle. I stared my program working out 4 days a week with Evan. I could not be happier with the progress I have made! I’m down 23 lbs and starting to gain muscle in the process. My strength has grown a lot in the 4 months I’ve been training with Evan. My “warmup weights” now are more than my “max weights” when I started, and I’m constantly setting personal bests. If you’re thinking about joining MECA, my advice is just to take the leap and do it, you will not regret it. My trainer Evan is great to work with, he tailored my program to what works best for me. I cannot recommend MECA enough, everyone is so very personable. My trainer Alex really strives for your success and wants to help you meet your goals. I have made such huge progress the last few months. Alex listens to you if anything is bothering or not feeling right he makes adjustments on the spot-they really don't want to cause any further injuries. He’s always making sure you have proper form and engaging the right muscles so you can get the most out of the training. He keeps me on track for nutrition and supplements. I worked out at MECA Royal Oak for a month before I returned to college. Joey was my trainer and I absolutely loved the experience. I had a past ACL tear, and appreciated the personalized plan and exercises. Even though I only trained for a limited time, I can see much improvement in my strength and endurance and lost about 4% body fat while gaining muscle. I came to MECA at the end of may with the hopes of putting on a lot of weight. At the time I had lost of weight after my MPFL surgery and needed to get back to playing shape as I entered my Freshman year as a olinemen at Wayne St. I had the great opportunity to work with John and some of the other staff and they did wonders. I put on 30 lbs in 2 months and I can not thank them enough. John was fantastic to work with and help to really push me to where I needed to be and I came out of it stronger than ever, especially in my legs where I had lost the most strength after surgery and I am feeling fully rehabbed and ready to report to camp.

I had Josh as a trainer and he was great. I did the personal training to strengthen my stabilizer muscles to reduce lower back pain. He always asked if a new movement hurt my back any and if it did we immediately switched to a different exercise. He was always very happy and energetic. I highly recommend MECA-Royal Oak. I am a runner who came to MECA to help with rehabbing a high hamstring tear sustained during running. Austin was my trainer. He is a fantastic trainer who knew how to get the most out of me each session while being aware of the injury limitations and being cognizant how not to aggravate the injury. I have been impressed with the team at MECA since day one. The first meeting was nothing but in-depth interviews, and a few small tests to gauge my baseline. From there, they crafted a personalized program to specifically target weaknesses, mobility issues, and lingering injuries as well as my overall goal to become stronger and more flexible as I age. And it's not just the workouts that are tailored. The program is also paired with a specified nutrition and lifestyle plan including stretching, out-of-gym activity suggestions, and sleep improvement cycles. And while that can all sound like a lot to include in an already busy week - it's not. They make it easy to follow and enjoyable to participate. The MECA culture is incredibly positive. The entire staff has been nothing but friendly and supportive. It's contagious. Even the other clients offer each other encouragement, jokes, and laughs. To see someone finish a set at at maximum effort to failure and then smile and laugh out loud in the next moment is a testament to how they operate. Every client is paired with his/her/their individual coach who oversees every workout, every set, every rep, monitoring form, correcting, encouraging, and pushing for dramatic results. I'm only half way through my program and can already see those results, but more importantly - I feel them. Special kudos to Matt Morais, my strength coach. I couldn't have asked for a better pairing. The way he pushes me to exceed my limitations is fully positive, encouraging, and makes me want to do even more. His humor, corrections on form, instruction, and encouragement are all spot on. Not only does he explain what we're doing, but goes into detail as to why we're doing it. It's not just working out on a general plan. Each exercise, the order they come in during the workout, and each rep cadence has all been designed specifically to meet my personal goals and Matt has been able to explain exactly why they are approaching it that way and why it works over other alternatives. The proof is that I can look around the gym and see different clients each doing different work to get to their specific goals. No two programs are the same. I couldn't recommend this business more highly. Thanks to Matt and the entire team for making a difference in my life.

MECA is simply on a different level.

This is not a New Years resolution type of place. Unless you are truly serious about the goals you have and the work you are willing to put in, this is not the place for you.

The workouts are incredibly diverse and difficult with expert staff on site at all times to make sure every movement is correct. The cycles they put you through are demanding and deliver results.

Leanne is an expert in her field. From the design of the cycles to implementation, nothing is left to chance. If you have any injuries or complications, they will find ways to work around them and strenghten the impacted areas. I cannot think of a single time I have left a workout not feeling completely exhausted and happy at the same time. She is demanding. If you follow the instructions and learn the excercises, the results will be very surprising.

They promise 3 years of results in 3 months. I was skeptical. They proved me wrong.

I am very thankful to have joined MECA as I am a different person from when I started 6 weeks ago. I have lost weight (even when having some cheat meals/snacks... For the last 5 weeks I have been training at MECA - Royal Oak with Matheus. I cannot say enough good things about him or the entire crew there. David is who I first spoke to about getting started and although life got in the way a bit for my start date, my experience has been incredible. Leanne completed my initial assessment and has been there next to Matheus cheering me on as she can between her clients. I complete InBody scans and meet with the nutritionist regularly to ensure the plan I am on is working, and it is! I have a program written specifically for me, a nutrition plan for me, and a trainer who checks in on me, encourages me, and celebrates the wins with me! My training mornings are the highlight of my week and it’s because of the dedicated staff that I get to encounter first thing and the motivation they all love to give. My time with MECA (4 weeks so far) has literally been transformational. My balance, strength and endurance have already improved. Reasons for starting the road to physical fitness and health vary from person to person, but it's clear that they all have a place at MECA. Working with the ardent professionals of MECA, has definitely enhanced my fitness journey.
My coach, Taytum, is nothing short of a miracle worker. Always pushing me to meet strength goals and providing the needed guidance and professional insight during my workouts. Taytum, and the MECA team provide the encouragement to adhere to life changes (diet. exercise, etc.) while ensuring that my journey is personal and effective. In fitness and weight training you regularly here the phrase "Trust the Process". The holistic process at MECA is certainly one worth putting you upmost trust in.

Really enjoying training at MECA! I started going there because the physical therapy was not enough to get me back into rock climbing post an injury. They immediately worked to develop an individual plan taylored to my goals. I started training with Scot who has been an amazing trainer. He pushes me to my limits, maximizing performance, and always ensuring proper form. He very quickly got me back into climbing and now I am continuing to work with him on weaknesses and fix imbalances. If you consider joining MECA definitely work with Scot!!

I joined MECA in June with a lot of apprehension. I had sprained my ankle multiple times in the past and was scared of getting started at any facility. But MECA has allayed all my fears and they designed custom program focussing on my ankle. They also assigned a dedicated trainer (Dominic) and he made sure to push me and keep a check on me off days also. He genuinely showed interest in my progress and celebrated all my small and big accomplishments. Dom has a true passion to bring the best in anyone and would optimize the workout as per the needs. I highly recommend training at MECA especially with Scott at Royal Oak. For years I suffered from acid reflux, clicking knees and neck pain. I went from doctor to doctor without making much progress. Within a couple couple of months my neck pain was gone, knees no longer click and my acid reflux is significantly better. In fact their nutritionist Bryan helped improve it so much that I am able to come off my acid reflux medication and be reflux free for long periods of 6-8 months. Soon I may not need it at all. I am also lifting more weight than I ever have. It has improved my life significantly. I should also mention that I train with Steve on Saturday’s and he is fantastic too. People go to school to improve there mind. This is school for the body and is well worth the money.

Adding little Salt to water every morning helped me sweat more. Multi Vitamin and other supplements helped me recover faster and get back to next workout like a champ. Healthy food and enough sleep are key.
