MPGA is such a benefit to our kids and community. In one year of being back to gymnastics, my daughter has grown tremendously. The coaches are amazing and knowledgeable - they encourage and push the kiddos to be the best they can. We appreciate the year round opportunities to be in the gym, including all of the summer camps. I wouldn’t take my kiddo anywhere else. We love MPGA.

A Devastating Disappointment for My Young Daughter

As a former athlete who played sports from the age of 5 through high school, later becoming a coach and earning a postgraduate degree in leadership, I understand the profound impact a coach can have on a young athlete's life. Sports should be a source of fun, challenge, and reward, igniting a passion that can be nurtured into something truly remarkable over the years. Unfortunately, my 4-year-old daughter's first experience at Mount Pleasant Gymnastics Academy was a stark contrast to these ideals.

The instructor's lack of patience and understanding was shocking. When my daughter struggled to remember the steps, the instructor yelled at her to "pay attention," publicly humiliating her and instilling fear instead of confidence. This harsh treatment continued, leading my daughter to tears and a declaration that she never wanted to do gymnastics again.

It's devastating to see the excitement and joy of competitive athletics crushed in a young child's soul by an adult instructor. This experience not only robbed my daughter of her enthusiasm for gymnastics but also contradicted everything I believe in as a coach and leader. A nurturing and supportive environment is crucial for young athletes to develop a love for their sport and to see it as a rewarding journey.

I am deeply disappointed and would urge parents to consider carefully before enrolling their children at Mount Pleasant Gymnastics Academy. No child should have their spirit dampened in what should be a positive and enriching experience.

AMAZING ATMOSPHERE, AMAZING COACHES, AMAZING COMMUNICATION! I absolutely love this place. I am so glad they opened their doors in Mt. Pleasant. I have coached a rocket cheer team for the last 8 years. Tumbling is something that all the cheerleaders love to do but is the most dangerous to teach if not qualified. When I was looking at affordable and qualified gyms in the area, 5 years ago, I found MPGA. I contacted the owner, Coach Mo, and have collaborated with her every year from that point on. She and I worked together to create a plan tailored to my team's needs and a wonderful partnership was built. Coach Mo and her staff are incredibly friendly and extremely qualified! They know how to push your aspiring gymnast to their limit in the best and safest way possible. You will not be disappointed! Such a family vibe as soon as you walk in the doors. There is such a sense of community and inclusion at MPGA. Coach Mo and her staff even come to some of our games to watch and encourage the girls. Many of our girls have gone on to do competitive cheer in high school and are very successful in helping their team make it to regionals and state! From the basics to back tucks, MPGA has been able to encourage and teach my team in a goal-oriented way to become the best they can be and many times they surpass their own expectations of themselves. I have attached a video of my daughter. She went from knowing basic cartwheels to what you see below :). By the end of this session, she may be at a back tuck! MPGA is very invested in the success of every child and person who walks through their doors – I highly recommend Mt. Pleasant Gymnastics.

My daughter has grown so much as a gymnast since coming to MPGA. The coaches are so skilled at teaching kids and also connecting with them on a personal level. I cannot rave enough about how wonderful Moe is. She is truly passionate about gymnastics and it shows in the way she coaches and runs the gym.

The price for the class series is at least double of other extracurricular. Communication (other than when to sign up for classes) is severely lacking. Very basic set up. I don't see the passion that others have raved about.

My daughter has done two sessions of the toddler classes and LOVED it! I love that there's structure to help her learn, while also giving some freedom because toddlers have short attention spans. We are definitely going to be signing up for more classes in the future.

We come from almost an hour away for classes. We have tried places closer to us, but nothing compares to the great staff and gym as Mt. Pleasant Gymnastics Academy. I also like that they have a showcase for them to perform in. Such a great place to go and very welcoming.
