Three weeks ago, I walked into Peoples Yoga as a complete yoga rookie, the kind who Googled, "what to do if you get a charley horse at yoga class?" Now? I'm still terrible at yoga, but at least I leave every week feeling grounded and a little more human.
Mary, who teaches the Yoga for Recovery class, might actually be part sunshine. She radiates kindness and warmth and somehow makes you feel like you've known her forever. And the cherry on top? The people. Every single person I've met or spoke with in that class has been so genuine and welcoming, and I'm entirely grateful to just be in the same space as them.
If you're curious about yoga, healing, or just need an hour to avoid your in-laws, I can't recommend this studio enough. It's helped me find a little peace in a world that doesn't always make space for it.

Preety is the best! No matter where you are in your yoga practice (beginner or standing on your head) she provides so many options for variations. Her directions are always very specific so you have a perfect understanding of what muscle you are targeting or stretching with every movement. Her morning classes start out exactly where everyone is, sleepy and questioning life, and gradually work up to "okay, everyone is alive, let's start our day with some work." Love love love her.

I’ve been a wheelchair user for almost 50 years, and I started my yoga journey with Peoples Yoga over a year ago. The studio itself is extremely well equipped, and I love the way the space has been designed. It was an old building which has been tastefully renovated with a unique architectural flair. It’s not just stylish, but it’s also extremely clean and has everything I need for a great yoga session.
The instructors at Peoples Yoga are incredible! I want to give a special mention to the owner, Misty, who is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to work with. Indeed, all the instructors are well qualified and are truly dedicated to making sure everyone feels included and well catered for. They offer a wide variety of yoga classes for all levels and abilities.
What really sets this studio apart is the personalized one-on-one instruction I receive, and I have found the experience empowering and transformative. I highly recommend Peoples Yoga to anyone looking for a supportive and beautifully maintained space, no matter what your abilities are.

People's Yoga is a clean, well-designed and comfortable space for yoga. Shiloh is a great teacher! I've been a regular for maybe 2 years and she is always sharing something new. She's somehow gentle and challenging at the same time. It's a delight to feel comfortable here at whatever level I achieve that day.

I have been doing yoga for 30 years with the good fortune to have excellent teachers right from the beginning. Peoples Yoga came into my life nearer the end of those 30 years after I had retired and raised my family. Misty's Yoga for Arthritis Class is something I look forward to every week knowing it is perfect for my aging body. I also enjoy a Balance class and Gentle Flow with Shiloh every week too. I love the remote option that People's Yoga provides. You can come to Peoples Yoga at any stage of your experience with yoga and find classes to suit your needs, experienced exceptional teachers, and a warm and welcoming environment.

I found Peoples Yoga two years ago after my massage therapist recommended that I start taking yoga classes.
They offer a wide variety of classes from Beginners to Intermediate. Their website, with a description of each class makes it simple to book a class online. It’s so quick and easy to find something to suit your needs. Peoples Yoga also offers online classes for those who travel or are unable to attend regularly scheduled classes.
The instructors are dedicated to excellence, their scope of knowledge vast. They practice with open hearts and kindness, encouraging and challenging you to have a well rounded, just right for you, practice. I encourage you to find your path to a healthy life at Peoples Yoga.

I highly recommend People’s Yoga Studio. The instructors are very impressive, assuring that each person is learning and growing in their yoga practice. I love how they are very safe as well with people who have injuries or special needs. The instructors work with all body types. Props are used to bring the floor to the person so that each person can have the best experience possible practicing yoga. There is an option of taking unlimited classes each month making it easier to just do as many classes as possible each month. The teacher training and workshops and classes are amazing and inexpensive. Additionally, I recommend the teacher training. That is a unique experience that will make your life better by teaching you yoga, health, the body and movement. People’s Yoga Studio has a yoga community making life better overall.

I’ve been taking classes at People’s Yoga off and on for the past two years, and it has been such a wonderful community to be a part of. What drew me here was how well everything about the studio is laid out and explained on the website, which helped give me some bearings and eased my anxiety - once I attended I got very warm welcome from the instructors I engaged with - I love that it is encouraged to make accommodations if needed and honor your own practice, and the variety of class styles helps make it a good fit for lots of different yoga needs. The ability to utilize virtual classes has helped me be more consistent so I can still attend when in-person isn’t viable. Everyone I’ve ever brought with me is treated well and welcomed, I can’t say enough good things about this beautiful place. Highly recommend checking it out ❤️

As an older, non-athletic, but longtime practitioner of yoga, I'm grateful to People's Yoga Studio for offering classes that give me support, encouragement, and just the right amount of challenge. The studio is clean, inviting, and easy to find. It's very well-supplied with props and equipment. Misty Belous and People’s Yoga are a true asset to the Lansing community!
As someone who leads in high-stakes environments, I’m selective about who I trust with my recovery, wellness, and performance. Misty brings a rare combination of deep expertise, medical knowledge, and genuine care that makes a real difference. Her approach is both restorative and empowering—whether you’re healing from severe medical injuries, strain, optimizing your body, or simply maintaining lifelong health.
The studio is clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully run with a wide variety of equipment. When you call, messages are returned by Misty. An added bonus is an occasional visit from Ovie, her sweet pup.
People’s Yoga isn’t just a place to take a class—it’s a place to build resilience. Misty has created something powerfully unique and I highly recommend her to anyone committed to their well-being.

Classes:
People’s Yoga classes are beneficial, accessible, healthy, and informative. At People’s Yoga, you will find instructors that put a lot of care into their students and their classes. The offerings of classes and options during class at People’s Yoga allow people to find what works for them. They are dedicated to providing classes that improve quality of life and the way you move. This encourages you to embrace variety and choice in many mindful and different ways.
200 Training: Peoples Yoga 200 YTT is enlightening, giving a wealth of insight. Misty incorporates many perspectives in which she shares her gifts, empowers others to offer their gifts, and inspires the same in you. This allows you to make what you want of the training and make yoga your own. The experience is informative, emphasizes the strengths of many approaches, and provides depth. Yoga is so vast but the connections throughout the journey allow you to see concepts that are all encompassing and appreciate all of yoga. Misty is an exceptional human to be around with how humble, authentic, and joyful she is. She ensures she keeps this energy apart of her, her studio, and those around her that are involved in the training or are students. Kelly was also a teacher who brought what she had to the training and allowed me to make the most of my practice.

This place is life-changing. I found the studio at a tough time in my life and in my practice, and it was just what I needed. The space feels so safe and inviting, and the diversity of classes offered make it truly a studio with something accessible to everyone. The focus is on engaging all parts of yourself to achieve a stronger mind-body-breath connection versus a single-minded prioritization of the physical workout.
Every time I step onto my mat at Peoples Yoga, I am reminded of what yoga should be: welcoming, inclusive, fun, and about connection -- with the community of yogis around you and with every piece of yourself. I always leave feeling more balanced in all ways, and inspired to take my yoga practice off my mat and into the way I engage with myself and the world around me.
Peoples Yoga is something special. Give yourself the greatest gift and get on your mat.

Peoples Yoga is a welcoming space that supports students, as well as teachers. I am so grateful to come in and experience all the details and love that have been put into the studio. There are options for experiencing yoga in different ways, whether you want to have an adaptive yoga class, therapeutic, functional movement, spiritual, flow, or yoga with props. The teachers are treated as collaborators that are able to contribute ideas for making the space special and are paid fairly. The owner of the studio, Misty, works hard to not have yoga philosophy at odds with the business of owning the studio. I admire this so much. The teacher training program gathers all the components that make up yoga and makes them accessible in a nurturing way. This is not a yoga cult type atmosphere with top down leadership. It is a loving community of those who are passionate about yoga and want to share it. There are conversations about how to make yoga accessible to all, aiming for diversity and inclusion. Highly recommend that you try out as many classes on the schedule as you can and see what resonates. Beautiful studio with beautiful intentions. Definitely check it out! Namaste' <3

Peoples Yoga Studio is exactly what the name implies: yoga for all people, regardless of age, shape, size, gender or ability. Misty takes time to explain each pose with an emphasis on proper form, not speed. She is brilliant at tailoring poses to each client’s particular needs, and always gives alternate adaptations for each pose. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, calming, and non-competitive. I always leave my Chair Yoga classes feeling stronger, taller, and ready for the rest of my day. Fantastic yoga studio. Classes (and privates) for every need, and every type of body. I love Misty's philosophy of "long and strong". Everything about this studio makes it special: the teachers, the space, the diversity of classes, and the teacher training. The training is one day a week, so, spread out longer than a typical training class. This helps to really absorb, reflect on and practice each lesson. Misty is passionate about making sure that we are learning alignment principles that will keep us and our future students safely practicing yoga for a long time to come. I have really enjoyed the classes and my fellow students.

If you want to practice yoga for longevity as opposed to just working out and burning calories, then Peoples Yoga Studio is the place to practice. Since focusing on proper alignment and building stability, my sciatica has cleared up and I have become physically stronger which has also led to more physical and mental flexibility. Peoples Yoga Studio also focuses on bringing in and welcoming a diverse group of people, bodies, ages, and abilities. Also, the studio is quite lovely and cozy. When you walk in, there are white walls in the lobby, with pops of beautiful color coming from the seating area. The practice area has a speckled brick wall, with lots of old looking charm. I left class with so much more knowledge about how to correctly (and safely) align my postures! I've practiced yoga for 12 years, and most of my instructors have taught a fast paced class with the goal of getting everyone's heart rate up without really teaching to the alignment and health benefit of the postures. The class I took at People's Yoga provided all of this--it was an amazing all over body workout that left even the more subtle muscles sore that I had never felt before, plus I learned how to prevent injury when practicing, how the alignment of my body within the posture helps to reap the physical benefit of the workout even more, and how postures specifically help with different functions of the body. So much bang for my buck with just one class! I will definitely be back!
