Every club I’ve been to across the country has self locking lockers. BUT not in Lansing Michigan. You have to purchase a lock for a locker. They will sell you one for $6. Very tacky! Shouldn’t there be things you can expect in every club like security of your belongings. The place was clean. The staff was friendly, but I’ve never heard of having to purchase a lock at a planet fitness.

And to make sure that you have to purchase a lock to keep your belongings safe, they have signs up that you’re not allowed to have a bag by your equipment. In my mind, they’re stealing from Club members from other parts of the country. Not impressed.

They have extremely friendly and helpful staff. The facility and equipment are very well maintained and extremely clean. As of October 2025 they got new equipment, which is usually a good thing. Not here. The old equipment functioned better and they had the right number of machines per member demand. Now you can do a lat pull down on 9 different machines, but you can only do a leg extension on two. New equipment doesn't make it better, the right equipment does.

Pros: Never crowded, great free weight selection, plenty of room, and the black car member spa is pretty good.
Cons: They got moved the glute isolation machines to the west side location, and every time you do cardio you're in front of a series of giant televisions showing every major news channel, which is always incredibly depressing and difficult to look away from without craning your neck, and it just makes me not want to do cardio here.

Grateful for the flat entrance, unlike Owasso, which has a high curb I couldn't get my wheelchair over to reach the entrance ramp. However, they really missed the mark with accessibility in the locker room.
The small handicap shower with downward slant leaves the walkway and bottom of my wheelchair soaked, which tracks into the distant dressing room. The shower head is also WAY too high and, while it is detachable, there's nowhere to put it once you take it down. They also installed the towel hanger at standing height, instead of handicap height so that became useless and I had to get creative.
The cold, stone bench in the handicap dressing rooms is incredibly uncomfortable, especially after a shower.

I pray companies will start consulting people who actually need handicap accessibility before designing something they don't understand!

I've been going here for over a year. It's down the road and I don't mind PF. Lately the staff have been harder to deal with. Today my training partner was filming my form next to a wall. My form is bad and I'm unsure how to fix it as I can't watch myself. We were told we can't film as there could be minors in the gym. Right next to us during our workout a young couple were taking selfie and filming. Seemed like it was discrimination of sorts. My friend said she gives him the eye all the time cause he isn't white. It felt terrible. We talked to the manager about it. He said even though the PF policy indicated you can film, provided you're not filming others, we can't cause he says so. His discretion no matter what the rules are. Then he offered me to pay for training which I'm not interested in. I called both other PFs in the lansing area. They both were so nice about yeah you can film and you better to fix your form. So the staff at Holt make their own rules for certain patrons while others can seemingly do as they choose. The drive sucks but I want a gym that preaches no judgement to actually follow through with it.

Still giving two stars as the gym itself is nice enough if you look the way they want you to.

I travel all over the USA using Planet Fitness as a go-to for my fitness and mental well-being. This SPECIFIC Holt location has been the ONLY time I ever had a problem.

Upon my very first encounter, I was doing my normal thing, never have I ever had a problem.

I was doing my yoga when unexpectedly someone came over and told me that I couldn't use my yoga mat and I had to wear shoes at all times.

Flabbergasted and taken aback, we left and never went back. It's really sad and unfortunate because PF is usually a safe place for me where I can workout and enjoy my time to myself. This lady enforced rules I've never heard of before. I didn't use any of their equipment without shoes. I was strictly on my own yoga mat warming up before my workout.

There shouldn't be any problem here. I pay a monthly to utilize the space and if I need to do my yoga, that should be okay. They do not have real yoga mats, they are just crappy half mats that I would never want to use.

Yoga should be welcomed and accepted. I see many people practicing yoga in other locations, so I hope this location will come to understand how important it is to be respectful to a yoga practice.

It is normal and actually preferred to use your own yoga mat any other workout place you go.

That lady really left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm finally leaving this review to let it be known. Also, she could have at least been kind and compassionate about the whole thing.

"I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00 AM to use specific equipment, but when I arrived right on time, the person at the front desk told me I had to wait 7 minutes plus clean up before I could start. It was frustrating because I had planned my workout around that time. I expect better coordination when scheduling appointments to ensure members aren’t left waiting. Even more frustrating was the employees attitude as I stressed my concern about scheduling, he walked away to help another customer. Out of all the planet fitnesses in the lansing area, this is my least favorite. It is WAY to dark, the lighting needs to me updated, and the paint probably needs redone. The locker rooms are also slightly cramped and dark and the music was playing just a touch too loud when I went there. The whole gym gives off an uncomfortable trapped in vibe, and I would recommend trying the okemas pf instead if you can

I like the place as a whole. Went here when I was in school years ago. I came back, someone had cut themselves pretty badly, bruising started immediately. The staff were rude and indifferent to any injury, and a request to look at the possible hazard. The place as a whole is fine. Simply watch your step or you might get hurt. (They did at least offer a bandaid)

The monthly membership prices are very reasonable, as low as $10. Also included are daily classes (M-F) with a trainer that you can sign up for. For $20 a month, you get access to massage chairs and hydrotherapy beds that are awesome and provide a full body type massage. Also with the twenty dollar membership, you can bring a guest for free. They are packed with treadmills and other cardio equipment, but lack much in the area of heavy free weights. Not the best option for powerlifters. Open 24/7, which is a plus.

Had a situation happen to me and my boyfriend in the blackcard spa. We were checking the place out because he's a blackcard member when the front desk worker, Josh, came in and asked what we were doing in there. We explained that we were members but he kept repeating the question, being very passive aggressive and sounding almost accusatory. We kept all the doors open and we're just checking the place out. I don't know what he thought we were doing or why, but we really like that club, it's always clean and has great equipment, but to be honest that whole interaction ruined my workout. I don't understand why planet fitness would have a blackcard spa if we're just gonna be followed and questioned in it when #1 we've done nothing wrong and #2 we are blackcard members. Makes 0 sense to me.

Very cheap, but you get what you pay for. Some machines like the leg extensions are bent out of shape(poor uneven workout when the bar is crooked) , jan-feb almost every machine is in use. Some days it's so busy I can't complete a whole workout. The crowd meter seems to be a complete lie and always shows 1 bar, while Google's meter seems to be fairly accurate.

The staff is friendly and the facility is fairly clean including the locker room.

May update the review in the near future as more NYR people drop off.
