The gym is always clean and the staff are always friendly. That being said... The equipment needs to be updated. Many of the treadmills have issues including very loud belts and heart rate meters that do not work. These appear to be the same models I've seen over a decade ago in other PFs...

This Planet fitness lags behind similarly modeled gyms like Crunch Fitness (i miss you so much Ypsi crunch.) They still ONLY have smith machines so no free squat racks or bench presses. You can kiss your rotator cuff, knees, and lower back goodbye. Also the dumbells only go up to 75lbs which is absolutely laughable...I will never be able to progressively load my goblet squat.

All of the machines have horrible range of motion except for the one isolated bench machine, calf raise, hip aductor/abductor and maybe the ham curl if you adjust the calf rest correctly.

I use the pulls which are well tensioned and do what I need. The pulley systems are good enough and im still seeing progress.

Also this is the cheapest gym in the area by a longshot which is annoying...I wish Crunch would expand their footprint but hello this is rural Michigan ...can't ask too much.

Isabella was a complete rude disaster. Telling my daughter she can’t use the massage chair as her free trial as a guest then made me show eyewear to tan… I have never had to buy eyewear at any planet fitness in my entire life. She was doing that to be spiteful and rude. Do not go here to work out. She’s on a power trip.

the machines and staff are usually great, but i was told i wasn’t aloud onto the gym floor in slides despite lifting at the establishment dozens of times in slides. No postage or signs regarding the matter. I’ve been weightlifting since 2021 and have lifted in gyms across the east coast and never had a issue when wearing slides or even lifting barefoot. If I wish to risk dropping weights on my toes then I believe that to be my god given right.

I went to Planet Fitness in Howell and stood up for an older gentleman who was being Cussed out by a Teenager. Instead of a Thank you from the Gym,the Employee there Cussed ME out. When I went to talk to the Manager about it. The Manager at the Gym had a bad attitude. Ps. The Employee still has his job. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️😡 PPs. The older gentleman never Thanked me and actually ignores me. BIZARRO 🤔 Needless to say, I am no longer a member of this gym. In addition, I have reached out to planet fitness social email. Howell deserves better than this! Location has been open for almost 15 years with no updates despite members complaining of outdated equipment, over crowded machines and generally a dirty smelly atmosphere. Hopefully management takes action before they start to loose members.

I had a membership with planet fitness for a couple weeks when I was able to come home for Christmas, I am active duty and was not able to come in to cancel my membership, I called several times to cancel my membership and they kept telling me I have to come in person, I was finally able to speak with someone to do so and now they are telling me I have to pay the balance. I have given this place 3 or 4 tries. Every time I come in it smells awful, it is dirty/salty -- today they decided to clean under the machines (not particularly well) and spread dust in the air, less than 5 feet away from me. This was obviously the first time in months they cleaned, and they had to do it right when I chose to use the machines nearby. Great job, champs. Move your home gym to Brighton or Hartland, they're significantly cleaner and with better staff.

Always seems pretty clean. Staff seems friendly. But there are always people working out who seem to think it’s their own home personal gym. Using multiple machines at once or 3 sets of dumbbells at a time for a lengthy amount of time, and getting into long conversations while holding onto weights or tying up machines. People playing music on their phone speaker. Get headphones. No one wants to hear your phone.

A local mainstay for Howell. Since this is a big Planet Fitness in a small town, all kinds of different people come here. Even though it gets crowded, the two copied of all the weight machines means there is rarely a wait.

Belinda is a rare gem when it comes to personal trainers, and a fantastic deal.

I just need to get here more often and work harder. That and change what I eat. Then I'll be forever young, strong like a bull moose, and live until the singularity. Or at least enjoy life more.

I've been a member now for about 2 months and never had an issue with people until today. I was on the treadmill and there is about 30 of these things lined up and several open. I was doing my thing and this guy comes in and absolutely HAS to use the one right next to me. Like dude. Why? Awful interaction with the manager, Kevin:

My husband signed up for a membership in July and explained that he would only need it for two weeks before we returned to our home abroad. Both at the time of signing up and calling in the car before exiting the country, he tried to confirm that his membership would be cancelled. Each time, the team member said "yes, everything is taken care of." A few months go by and we look over our CC statement to see that we are still being billed. I called from abroad to be informed that cancelling required him to sign in person (which was possible at the time of signing up for the membership, but was never a presented option to him), otherwise, we would have to have his signature be presented to a team member in-person. It wasn't possible to get a signature to the location until early January. I recently flew home and had the time to go in- person to discuss the situation. I was seeking a refund for the time that the membership should have been cancelled to the time we were physically able to cancel it.

It was difficult to get an enthusiastic worker who wanted to help as I stood patiently waiting.

When I was approached, I explained my whole situation for the team member to tell me he wasn't able to and that he would contact the manager.

When the manager (Kevin M.) came over, his attitude was anything but pleasant, as if my previous patronage was an inconvenience. I was met with an unwillingness to hear the situation, denial that any of his team members could make a mistake, and his poor body language as he back away from the counter. I had remained neutral during the duration of the conversation as I saw the issue as something that could be calmly and logically rectified.

I initially asked for a refund to which he immediately denied as I had signed a contract and it was my fault for not reading it (although it was my non-native English speaking husband who had made it crystal clear that he would only need it for two weeks- I have to wonder if the employees are poorly trained or taught to take advantage to prolong contracts). I asked to have a corporate number and/or speak with his boss, to which he replied that he doesn't have one because each PF is "individually owned and operated." I asked if he was the owner and operator and he responded "no."

Immediately following my questions, he threatened that I would have to leave or he would CALL THE POLICE. Startled and confused, I told him that I wouldn't mind if he thought that would be the best solution. I sat patiently waiting as he made the call at the counter and after hanging up, he proceeded to leave the front. I asked the unattended team member where Kevin went to which he was unaware. When the Officer arrived, he asked Kevin if he would like to file Criminal Charges against me, to which he responded "no, I don't see why I would" but continued to mark me as trespassing if I were to return.

In my opinion, new management is needed. I have read similar reviews in which patrons have been threatened with the calling of police for minimal infractions that don't warrant police intervention.

I would not recommend this Planet Fitness due to the lack of trained employees and management. It's not worth the headache.

I travel the country for work so I hit a lot of PF until I can get back to my gym in FL. This place is substandard. It’s basically a social hangout for those under 20. They gather by the machines with no idea of what to do and hold up those of us attempting a workout after a 14 hour work day. Most never get out of their pajamas and smell like pot. I could swear open toe sandals were against policy however policies here aren’t enforced due to the employees being oblivious to the customers. At this point my hotel gym is a better option.

The people that go to this gym are the worst. Good luck getting on a machine without a 30 min wait. Worst part is most people don’t even use the machines they are on, they just sit on their phones, or walk around and talk to people with their weights still racked and their clothing and water bottle sitting on the machine. Don’t expect consideration from customers at this place. That being said, staff and gym are usually clean and friendly.

My family and I have been going here for two years now and for the past couple of months this place has been declining. The bathrooms are a mess, there are 5 people at the desk talking, and they have been rude. I stood at the front desk for 2 minutes waiting for someone to assist me while the employees looked at me talking, then my mom wanted to tan for 10 minutes and they shorted her and only put 5 minutes, twice now. Ended up going to this PF due to the Brighton PF still being closed. The facility is very clean and friendly staff. They are lacking a lot of equipment and the facility is very small. Definitely not the goto place for regular training but it works. Kinda has the feeling of a high school gym. Also a lot of the equipment was missing knobs or worn the rubber on the weight plates is extremely worn and sticky.

Been procrastinating forever. Tonight I called this store and Taylor answered. Been a long long time since I have run into someone who was knowledgeable, willing, friendly, and patient as Taylor was.
I questioned everything, she did not flinch.
Did a deep dive to make sure I had every pertinent piece of info to make the decision I needed to make.
She even painted a clear picture of "what happens next" with a step by step to joining online. Even her descriptives of the app made signing up a methodical, fast, walk through. Just Wow. What a pleasure to have someone like that answer the other end of a ringing phone.
Thank you So Much Taylor. Everything went like clockwork. I only hope I run into this type of welcome when I visit all the Planet Fitness's I plan on seeing across this country.

Just signed my BC membership a couple weeks back. Used a couple PF gyms in Houston while I was traveling, but they pale in compare to this. Great facility with well maintaned equipment! The staff is very friendly and helpful! The gym is well layed out and the parking is easy to get in and out of. In addition, the 30 minute room is great, after getting a good cardio workout! The trainer at this location is also very good at giving you a good workout!
