This is a well maintained and clean location. Staff is friendly, and the gym community has a positive vibe with very nice people. I travel frequently for work and have been to locations from San Antonio to throughout the Mid West. The Lapeer location is my favorite and I’m happy it’s my local gym.

Always clean, great staff and customers. Went to another gym closer to work that save on drive time and gas money. That only latest 6 weeks had to come back here. Planet gets alot of negative backlash on some of their missions statements but this really is a great gym. And the brand new remodel with added equipment is great.

After going to plant fitness for 18 months and now they are telling me the if you are a guess on there black card you can not come to the gym with out the many members I never got told this before.... Not just that in the ladies room two of their showers are always broken... I thought that plant fitness was a safe space a judge meant free zoon...... Ya I don't think so they keep questioning me even after telling them that I was there to show before work because my bf/the mane member I only then got a 15 minute shower because I was not liking the feeling of being watched....

Clean overall. Paper towel out in guys locker room, center of 3 sings bot functioning at all. Water tasted funky. Not sure if the filter was changed, but no light was on showing filter level. It was semi slow coming out and took 3 tries to get it to work. Otherwise good location and had all equipment you expected. Two sets of easy curl and straight bar racks was nice but only a single inner and outer thigh machines. Overall recommend if in the area

July 25 update:
They recently did an equipment update and I'm quite pleased. They added a couple more smith machines and another free weight area, but 1 concern, how do you get the treadmill to lower while still doing your routine? Was stuck at 15% for 32 minutes, bout died before making it to cool down.

Otherwise....

Very clean, staff is friendly, in 6 weeks only one piece of equipment needed to be repaired and that was done in less than 36 hours. Does have a number of people that "camp" machines taking an extremely long time between sets while on their phones or taking pictures of their "results".

August 24 Update:
I understand the no judgement zone thing, but there's a limited number of stations. If you want to play solitaire or doom scroll the socials, please get up from the station and allow others to use it. The lack of consideration by people has me not liking the place as much anymore.

Update 9/9: they still do an awesome job keeping the place clean, and now they increased the dumbbell set to have up to 75 lbs from 60 lbs. Not that I'll be using those any time soon.

Although the work out area is kept up pretty well, the locker rooms and showers are disgusting. There is mold covering the shower curtains. Staff is always pleasant, but wish the showers were cleaned more thoroughly and regularly.

Planet fitness stole from me after I canceled there membership in person. Do not even consider starting a membership, because they will fight you to cancel. And when I say fight I mean you might have to hire a legal team to cancel.

I go here 6 days out of the week. This is a great location. With it getting busier and busier however I think the community as a whole would support a larger planet fitness. Maybe with multiple floors. Around 3-9 it’s hard to even plan. Id argue that the community and gym patrons would definitely pay an increased rate for a substantially larger amount of space.

Machines are out of date compared to other Planet Fitness locations in the area. Tanners will turn on while you are cleaning them if you aren't quick enough. No trash cans in the tanning rooms either. If this isn't your home location you are required sign in on paper every day. Also quite small and compacted. Staff is very nice or else this would get a 1 star.

I originally left the two star review and I'm going to eat humble pie rn this place is awesome. I thought the vibe sucked, they didn't have a freestanding barbell and bench, I was worried about the lunk alarm. ---After about a year of consistently going here the people are awesome, everyone at the front desk is sweet and helpful, The gym is clean and even if a piece of equipment goes down they're pretty quick to get it repaired. I used to be a turbo Meathead but the Smith machine is getting me yoked and you can't argue with results, man. Shout out to the trainer, Mike, for being an awesome human being and incredible motivator. Consistency is king. Make your own mind up.

I love this location! Everyone is very nice, capable, knowledgeable and helpful. The machines are kept in outstanding condition. The entire facility is exceptionally clean and well appointed. The tanning machines are the absolute best I've seen. I recommend this place to everyone that I speak to about health or exercise at all and will continue to do so. I'm heading there in 15 minutes myself.

I am a fairly new member to this company and location and am absolutely loving it! In the past I used to go to other gyms and different companies, but didn't cross paths with Planet Fitness until about 3 years or so ago in Fenton and Grand Blanc, but I like the one in Lapeer just a tad bit more than the others. PF Lapeer is always clean and well maintained. Seldom do I see broken equipment if ever. The staff are all fantastic and always ready to answer questions or assist. The availability of equipment never seems to be an issue even at busy times. I find it relaxing and feel comfortable working my routine. Well managed.

I love the group of people that work there, they get to know majority of people that come in on a name to name basis. They are beyond friendly people, while working out a lot of times they can be very supportive and encouraging when you might feel like you don’t have the energy to stay and finish a workout. The employees always greet me when I arrive and when I leave. They are very welcoming and friendly. Working with the trainer Michael has helped me meet goals I've set and continues to help make up workout plans to help me get to my next goals. I have been to other PFs when traveling and Lapeer has by far been the best. The gym, lockerrooms, restrooms and black card area are always very clean. I often will see employees cleaning or refilling sanitizer and paper towels. I really like the equipment and layout. I've taken classes and they give a really good workout with a good flow and even though you're working hard they make it fun.

Clean facilities, friendly staff. They always greet when you enter and wish you well when you leave. All of their machines work nearly all of the time, and when one breaks, they get it fixed right away. I only have one very small complaint about this location, and that it is a 24/5 and not a 24/7. Not that that has been a problem for me lately. I would just like the option to go at 2am if I'm suffering from insomnia or whatever.

Afterthought... I'm not sure if the Lunk alarm actually works. A week or two ago, there was very clearly a lunk in there and he actually had a lot of us watching and listening to him loudly "grunt" or "rawr" during his workout (I wear sound cancelling Beats Pro headphones, I shouldn't be able to hear that). I laughed, but I could tell some others didn't care for it.

Out of all the Planet Fitness locations I've visited, this one is my favorite. I've never felt uncomfortable or judged by not only any of the people who go here, but not by the lovely people who work here. They greet me and ask how I'm doing every time I come in and they always tell me to have a good day when I leave. It's such a cozy gym and I never am afraid to ask the employees for help or assistance with any of the machines. This will forever be my favorite planet fitness and I'm glad it's my home location too. Not to mention it's always clean as well

Shrinkflation!!! Hydro massages are shortened to 7 mins from 10 mins because of “busy season”. Just feels like a rip off to me. No where else I’ve been (5+ locations) does this and I’ve been a member for years just for hydrobed use. Including my college town that has twice the populace this place does and the same amount of beds. Idk why y’all messing w stuff that ain’t broken. But it ticked me off enough to come here so.

I've been to maybe 100 planet fitnesses all over the US. This gym feels like one of smaller ones. Staff is the best part of this place. Good people, that work harder than anywhere to keep the equipment clean. I see staff regular detailing equipment with q-tips. Too many younger people taking selfies in the locker rooms. I wish they had a few more pieces of equipment. Popular ones seem always in use when you want to use them. Dress code seems to be looser than most Planets fitnesses. You may find the opposite gender watching you use the urinal, as I have. The locker room are "inclusive" for lack of a better description.

I have been going to this gym for years since they've opened and I used to like it more than I do now. New management has come in and the vibe has changed to me. I go there to workout like I have been for years and I've never had any complaints until new management has come in. In my view, some of the members don't live up to "the judgement free zone" as I feel like I am being judged there at times. Also, there are always teenagers there that hog the machines and horse around while other people are waiting. I am considering going to a different Planet Fitness location or possibly dropping my membership. Other than this, the gym is very clean and the trainers are awesome.

I love how clean this gym is and there are so many options so you don't get bored.

I would recommend telling new members that the 30 minute express room is for only that workout. It's frustrating when members come in to do several reps on one machine which slows down my (& others) workout.
It would be nice to have one more red/green light in that room because it can be difficult to see the light from different areas of the room while using the machines or steps.

Last night, my friend and I waited out 3 people on the stair steppers for over an hour and finally gave up. Maybe a couple more steppers would be beneficial because I'm sure we weren't the only ones waiting.

Not enough trainers. I've been only going to this gym for about 9 months. In that 9 months it's been closed for a few days to weeks at a time. They say just go to another PF. The closest PF is in Flint Michigan. Not particularly a place I want to go. If this is a corporate owned business does corporate actually want to sink money into it ? Or is this a franchised gym ? Does the owner have the money to maintain building maintenance ?
