Does the job! Like every other planet fitness, has the necessary equipment to get a good workout in. The building is a little old but has some personality.

My only complaint is the lack of AC. I don't want to say it's extremely hot or anything, but it's just bad enough that it's a bit uncomfortable. Now that it's the summer, it's even worse. Surely turning on the AC during a heat wave is a reasonable ask.

I worked out here for over a year but started going to a different location because the men's locker room is DISGUSTING. Showers are ALWAYS absolutely filthy. Lazy employees just sit at the front desk and do nothing when they should be cleaning the place. I only come here when I absolutely have to due to time constraints. The other location I go to is easily 100x cleaner and employees are constantly cleaning!

Went in there 4 months ago to cancel my membership. It was really busy for the kid had me write my name and number down so he could do it. Never did it. Went back in 2 months ago for same thing, never got done again. My bad for not waiting but I was upset. Called again today, and they won't do it unless I go there, yet again or mail letter. I started going to PF to get more in and get better trained. I started the class in January and I loved it. The trainer Grayson (I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was amazing. I was so saddened when you cut her hours making her switch to a different position. Jack trained with her and there was one time she was out the class was great. Since he took her spot it's like he doesn't care. He switched up one type of class route when there were two people in the class. I get it when it is just one on one but when it's two it should stick to the program we signed up for. Also he gets distracted when his buddies are around because he's curious.

I just cancelled my membership. Not just because of that but it pushed my decision into cancelling.

5/24/2024 i came into the Northville location an was to uncomfortable to work out.

I get paid on Mondays an pf charges my card Fridays so I went to the gym with a over due balance. I normally never have a problem at my location cause they know the situation.

But when i was checked in to the Northville location Jack the so called "trainer" Makes a statement on my account telling the other jack "its just 25 dollars" gossiping under his breath

Although im blessed enough to afford it their are people out here who cant afford 25$ an they shouldn't be judged in a so called "non judgmental environment" I've worked for planet fitness before i know what he's getting paid ….he can barley afford 25$....an if your gonna gossip (low) like a girl make sure your actually whispering so guests don't feel judged at a place they use to mentally escape.

BUT Ally was amazing i asked for the manager. An not only did she calm me down but also made me feel secure that the situation would be handled. Even though the manager wasn't there.
the point of the comment is to let jack the so called "trainer" know it not cool to discuss people or what they can afford SMALL MINDS TALK ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE.

The worst showers possible here no handicap access for the shower and both are tiny with 1 hook that fell off the wall and dropped my things all the way to the dirty wet floor shattering my glass bottle and effectively soaking all of the electronics in my bag before I could even take my shoes off. There's not enough space to put your things and comfortably change in and out of your clothes, taking a shower is uncomfortable, everything in the small changing section gets wet when you're showering and both curtains blow around the whole time exposing you to everyone in the bathroom and freezing you at the same time. Usually have a 5/10 experience here but now I know it's a full 0, the employees are nice but that's all. If it wouldve fallen on my head while I was taking my shoes off ...

cramped locals only gym. If you’re a traveler passing through skip this planet fitness. The parking lot is too small for my sprinter van to park, and really everything about this planet fitness is cramped and tiny, not just the parking lot. There are only two showers and two toilets, both right next to each other packed in also right next to the sinks. So really no privacy. The showers are so tiny and cramped, with nowhere to put your stuff other than on the floor outside the shower, where everything is subject to getting soaked. It was just all around cramped and uncomfortably close to everyone at all times. (Coming from someone who lives in a van full time, that’s saying something!)

I love the home feeling of this Gym. Not big but everything you need is there and working. I was slightly to the left of the last picture. Staff is friendly and the gym is generally clean but unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly difficult to get a basic workout done with the free weights, especially in the morning. You'll frequently find a group of 3 people that hoard 6+ sets of weights, several benches and machines all while spending a majority of their time socializing. They don't wipe down equipment or put the weights away when done. Benches aren't used for workouts but to hold weights while they chat or play on phones. They won't allow you to use weights/benches when they aren't saying 'oh we're just about to use that' and go 20 mins without touching them. I'll likely cancel my membership or move to a new gym just to be able to get a workout in.

A little gym etiquette would go a long way in allowing for all people to benefit from the gym that they pay for.

I have noticed with the summer program promotions for teens 14–19 they get a free summer membership so it’s been a little different with a lot more kids coming in now. Some of the teens are obnoxious and don’t have proper gym etiquette so now I’ve changed my times to late in the day to avoid them. But other than that this gym is solid.

The planet fitness in the Waterwheel plaza Northville is a very amazing, unique environment located in what was a turn of the century hydro powered Ford facility. The facility is up to date but still has the old steel frame windows and beams from when it an operational factory. Floods with natural light during the days and the views can take away the cardio duldrums

I don't want to give this Planet Fitness the worst review in the world because the staff is friendly and it is kept clean but in terms of structure and design, it is the worst PF ever.

When you first walk in, it actually looks really cool. It is seemingly built into an old warehouse and gets a lot of sunlight during the day. If it's empty, it's great but it's never empty and there have been many occasions where I have had to drive around the lot for 5 minutes to wait for a parking spot.

The way this place is designed is very cramped and sort of makes everybody stare at each other as they work out. The treadmills overhang the machines so it seems like everyone is staring at you if you're lifting and vice versa.

It's also like "out of network" or something – I don't really know what this means but apparently every Planet Fitness in the world except for like ten are in the same network and this is not one of those. So I have to sign a sheet of paper every time I walk in with a black card which is annoying because I use another Planet Fitness so this one is my secondary location.

The staff is very friendly. The facility is extremely clean and sanitary. Even when they are busy, there are plenty of machines to accommodate without too much waiting around. They are open 24 hours 5 days a week, which is super convenient. You can't beat the price. A couple of critiques I have are that the free weights are limited and not as heavy as I can lift, and a few of the machines do not fit you if you are on the taller side. The Smith machines are missing one of the horizontal planes of movement, so they are a little awkward for squats and bench press. Overall, it is a great place for most people to work out unless you are on the stronger/taller side of the equation.

Review Updated in January 2023 from 1 star to 4 star. After speaking with the current manager Alec, I was given credits towards my membership in an effort to offset the previous incident. Dealing with Alec was professional and fair. While the previous incident was extremely unfortunate due to one dishonest employee, it could ruin the reputation of the whole organization. Thank you Alec to turn this around again.

Review submitted in 2022: VERY DISHONEST CLUB WHEN IT COMES TO BILLING -- When the gym was reopened after Covid July of 2020, I changed my membership from black card multi club access to the $10 local club only membership. In Jan 2021, without my consent, my membership was changed to the black card again. I did not notice that until several months later. When I talked to the club staff, they said I signed electronically to change back which I did not. I think what happened was when I changed my credit card number on file and have to resign the paperwork, instead of carryover the same basic membership, they slipped in the black card membership in the "update". Well, I was just standing at the front desk when they told me to "sign here", I did not think they would pull a fast one on me like that. I talked to the manager "Jodi?" there and he refused to do anything about it, even they can see during that period, I only go to that one club and one club only. I am very disappointed.

At the downtown Northville location, the staff is top-notch -- friendly, helpful and professional. The gym and locker room are clean and well-maintained. The equipment is almost always fully-functional. I would have no hesitation giving this experience five stars any other time of the year. My hesitation now is the current "teens for free" summer promotion. Most of the teens are using the facility as designed. A significant subgroup seem more interested in hanging out in the locker room with their cellphones taking pictures of themselves and others. Some other behaviors are also questionable. Maybe due to it being summer, I see fewer of the regular users now. It seems like an odd business model to drive away your paying customers for a temporary promotion for free users.

I'm a chonky middle aged dad so I appreciate having a planet fitness nearby. It's a clean, well lit place to get my chubby sweat on and find my fountain of middle age. This location is a bit smaller than the average globogym but it still have everything needed for some swole.

I canceled my membership on April 25th due to COVID reasons I was charged twice after canceling the membership. I spoke to the manager at the northville location in Michigan on may 17th confirming my cancellation and she refused to reimburse me for the charges after canceling my membership. Today is June 17th and I am noticing another charge from planet fitness I called the northville location again and spoke to the same manager and she finally said she will reimburse me for only this charge because she can’t confirm anything prior. Looks like I’m not the only one that has this complaint but why would pf assume it’s ok to charge annual fee when members have not returned close to a year. I guess it’s common for pf to have members to go months suspending the account but last year was not normal, the ONLY reason I had chosen to suspend vs. cancel was I would not have to pay anything (nothing to lose). If it had been communicated in advance of annual fee of course I would have taken action to cancel why assume it’s ok to just simply take members money???

I had been going to this gym for about five years or so when they shut down, due to COVID. They sent out an e-mail stating that they would be freezing payment and not charging peoples' cards while they weren't open. When they re-opened, which I wasn't aware of, they failed to send me an e-mail letting me know that they would be resuming payment on peoples' cards. If they had, I would have called then, because I did not plan on coming back to Planet Fitness, but finding another gym. I had no clue that they were charging peoples' cards again and just happened to be reviewing my checking account transactions recently and noticed that they had been charging my card since October of 2020, including the $40 annual fee, for a total of $132.25. I reached out to the gym and they did cancel my membership, but decided that they would only refund me for the #40 annual fee and not the monthly payments, even though I didn't go the the gym, even one time. I expressed that I felt that was wrong, since I hadn't been there and they didn't notify me that they would be charging my card again and I stand by the fact that that is wrong. I should be refunded for the whole amount, not just $40!! I will probably never go back to Planet Fitness, just incase I have anymore issues, they may not want to resolve them! I have found another gym that is more expensive, that I will be going to from now on!

Good to have it open. They didn't really optimize their spacing of treadmills which is the most popular machine to use, but at least we have FOUR stair climbers! C'mon I see way more people walking in, checking to see if there's any treadmills, and walk away. Same goes for the ellipticals upstairs. Not utilizing the most effective COVID-free spacing.
