Their policy of making you come in person to the location to cancel is engineered. But anyways I did what they asked and went in person and was told by an employee that my membership was cancelled. 2 months later when I no longer living in the state I see I am still getting charged, and when I call to say that I went in person and was told I had cancelled the employee who answered the phone had the nerve to say "what you are describing doesn't sound like our cancellation policy" and insinuate that I was lying to save 2 months membership fees. Who would have a good experience with customer service and policies like this? And instead of commenting on every negative review in order to appear sympathetic why don't you delegate available resources to ensure good service, employees, and cancellation policies which don't purposefully make it hard on the customer so that you can squeeze out however-many more months' revenue from everyone.

My brother and I are longtime PF members. and my bro has always worked out in Crocs because he doesn’t do cardio. He uses the machines, so it’s just sitting. We worked out yesterday with no issues until TODAY. The man at the front desk randomly denied us because of my bro’s Crocs. Super weird to only start enforcing this today. Why do members have to suffer at the whim of this man’s attitude? He certainly doesn’t have the PF mentality of “You belong here!”

By the way, this location also doesn’t honor the “try our gym for free” days like other locations!

And the water fountain is always broken!

I was recently denied entry for wearing Crocs, even though I came to this exact location yesterday in the same shoes without any issue. As a longtime Planet Fitness member, I’ve also worn them at other locations without a problem. The lack of consistency not only across gyms, but even within the same location is frustrating and confusing. If this is a policy, it needs to be communicated and enforced clearly and fairly. Wasting time and gas only to be turned away makes for a poor member experience.

This is my daily gym and for the most part zero complaints. Staff is always courteous and very helpful. For the most part they ensure all the rules are followed by all. However, the past few months from 04:30 - 06:00am there is a very old woman who comes in with her blue walker, dressed in biz casual, her spartan mask and proceeds to try and break every piece of equipment she uses. And the staff does nothing, it's kind of wild. She doesn't even check in at all. Just walks in, walks right past the desk like she owns the place, doesn't scan in at all and attempts to try and break everything. I am sure she is trying her best and cannot even lift the weights but wow man. She slams down every weight with every rep. She is also very disrespectful and rude to other members. If you are using "her machine" she stands right over you, staring at you and giving you a look like you are holding her up. When you see any of the machines out of order when you walk in to you to your left, it's probably because of her and how she abuses all the machines. I hope someone does something about this AM menace.

This is the example all planet fitnesses should follow. Clean, functional showers complete with hot water (kind of a rare find in planet fitness). A usable bench in the changing area instead of the common tin foil chairs in most PFs.

I wish half the planet fitnesses were like this one. It would be a much nicer experience.

I glanced at a couple other reviews. Whoever responds to these reviews needs to stop passing the buck. People take the time to review here. You reach out to the applicable management. This is your business, we have choices that may be easier than hunting down a manager and trying to get them to care for our concerns. We don’t have any authority to get what we want from managers either, you do.

Passing the buck is just a way of saying take your complaints somewhere else, we really don’t care.

This location has a good variety of machines and free weights. The expansion and remodel turned out nice. Friendly and helpful staff do a good job at keeping the facility clean. Point of improvement would be better temperature control. The last few weeks have been extremely warm, muggy, and stuffy. The fans do help circulate the air but cooler temperatures are needed for this gym. I have heard other members make similar comments.

My adult daughter and her sister had been going for months and suddenly were denied entry at the door because they didn’t have a parent signature. They needed me to drive 20 minutes there to wet sign it. I tried calling and their phone lines were down. My oldest tried giving her phone to the front desk and they refused. If you’re going to suddenly enforce a policy, try to make it easy on your clients, and if you won’t make it easy just don’t be a jerk. Poor customer experience at this location.

After talking to my home gym I became aware that this is one of the select gym’s that gives black card members a difficult time. Well long story short you lost a member over a five dollar fee. Decent Gym and decent price.Good staff and facilities for the cost. Wish to give a 5 star but there is an improvement area in staff allocation . A couple of times there is a long wait for members to use the additional facililities for want of staff to login and allow since there was staff shortage. Just found after over a year of not using my membership I never cancelled it. I called the Okemos location to get it cancelled and was told I can only cancel it if I walk through the front door which is not possible cause I don't live in the area. Second option is send a written letter to them in the US mail... What a ridiculous thing and a terrible business practice. I will call the bank and block the payments that way. This is 2024, and we have robotic dogs and people but we have to send a letter in the mail to cancel a service we don't want. I will make sure every person I talk to is told to stay away from Planet Fitness!!

The "upgrade" was a complete downgrade. The loss of the 30 min circuit, the lack of new treadmills, and the over emphasis on free weights at this particular PF is off putting. I have had memberships at two other PF that went through upgrades and they got all new cardio and kept the 30 min circuit. Going to have to change gyms.

Its easy and nicely organized part and the word judgement free zone entices anybody to explore and adapt and keep them fit with a nominal fee and you find them nearby and I would recommend anybody to hop in and work out and see the transformation themselves.

I like the environment, the location, the staff is nice, the facility is clean, and there is a good variety of equipment in good repair. My only complaint is that the hand sanitizer dispensers are always empty. People are touching the equipment all the time, and not everyone sprays the equipment down thoroughly. The availability of sanitizer is just common sense.

Disappointed in the quality of equipment after the gym was shut down for weeks for an upgrade, there’s already multiple pieces of equipment that are not functional. When I mentioned to staff, a staff member working made a rude remark to her coworker who proceeded to laugh. Came in September 2024. They were running a joint for $1 promotion. I was charged $49 didn’t catch it until an hour later so I went back in and told them they said they can’t refund so email the manager Cody. I have emailed him 3 times to no response. The girls have said there are so sorry he hasn’t responded yet they know he has read the emails. I never received my refund so I went to cancel my membership and they said I came in on the 26th not the 25th I will be charged $50 for the yearly fee. Not happy or impressed with how this gym operates. The manager obviously has zero care about his members.

I used to think they were just a chain gym in the mall with purple painted equipment to be trendy. I was wrong. Staff is super friendly. Everything is included with your Black Card membership, including access to a scheduled trainor, tanning beds and my favorite the Hydro bed massage and massage chairs. The gym is spotless as are the bathroom, shower and locker areas. Currently just $25 a month, only $10 if you just want the gym equipment. No Brainerd after the tour.

The floors are always disgusting, it’s always cold in here because they have these giant fans, the WiFi never works and you don’t get service so you have to have all your music downloaded, way too crowded, and trying to utilize any of the black card perks like a tanning bed or the body enhancement is a losing gamble because they have no method to their scheduling and just make it a free for all. DO BETTER.
